Guest Reviews
- Pranav (10/5): - Great host and good food in remote town
- Laura (6/5): - The property location was convenient to local sights and the rooms were spacious enough. Had the weather agreed with our visit, it would've been the perfect location for viewing the Northern Lights. The parking lot and sidewalks could be improved at the property so that it's easier for guests to move their luggage in and out of their rooms to their vehicles. The beds were comfortable. There was no living room space with couches anywhere on the property and no TV. The room was spacious as was the bathroom. Longer shower curtains are needed so water doesn't flow all over the floor. We had a three bed room. The corner shelf was placed right above where a head be located on the bed, which is a safety concern. We ended up rotating the pillow so that my father's head wouldn't hit the corner shelf. The restuarant was okay but there weren't a lot of choices and it wasn't open very late and we were kicked out and had to sit on our beds and just talk in our room.
- SMRUT64 (10/5): Perfect place to stay coming from or going to Westfjords. - We stayed here on our way to the west fjords. It was a quick overnight stay. We ate dinner at the hotel and the food was good. Breakfast was included. We took a nice walk around town in the evening and also in the morning. There’s a grocery store in town which is in walking distance from the hotel. We had a private bathroom.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Checkin/Checkout times were inconvenient
- Whitney (10/5): - Simple but clean and comfortable
- Raj (10/5): - The room was clean and the staffs were simply fantastic. I would stay again
- Knud (8/5): - Nice but remote location.
- Arthur Sullivan (10/5): - Rooms were clean and comfortable.
- Benjamin (8/5): - A great guesthouse with nice rooms and showers. Beware however, that there is NOT a kitchen or fridge available for guests like is shown in the Expedia posting photos.
- Jill (10/5): - Clean and easy stay.
- Helen (10/5): - Very clean and great breakfast. Staffs are very friendly. Biggest rooms . Really great!
- jjluke (10/5): A lovely lunch, very reasonably priced for Iceland - We enjoyed lunch at Dalakot, which included a chicken salad, two lamb dishes as well as a pizza, all reasonably priced compared to the rest of Iceland! The lamb was among the best we had in Iceland, and the other dishes also hit the mark. Dalakot is a great recommended place to eat if you are in the area!
- Chin Hwa (10/5): - reasonable price with nice continental breakfast bar. The staff were friendly and room was clean.
- mauricio (8/5): Great stay - Nice room, good breakfast, easy parking, just one little thing we missed (my fault) that the bathroom was shared. It was not a problem at all, 2 bathrooms with shower and toilet are available and there is not many rooms that share it, so we actually never bumped into any guest or had to wait for using the bathroom.
- Barry (10/5): - Our stay was totally comfortable and the staff was helpful and caring.
- Dennis (10/5): - .
- Christina (10/5): - Nice guesthouse with a wonderful breakfast. If you are worried about the shared bathrooms, they were kept immaculate the whole time. Rooms were spacious and even had a small sink and desk. Super friendly staff checked us in efficiently. And the location was fantastic especially if you are looking to start the West Fjords or the Snaefellsjokull Peninsula. Would most definitely stay here again.
- Todd (10/5): Dala-delightful - The cleanliness and the staff were amazing. Everyone working there was super friendly and helpful. Would totally stay there again.
- lijian (10/5): - Good!
- Kate (10/5): - Wonderfully comfortable bed and really good pizza in the restaurant.
- Ana (10/5): - Very friendly staff. New renovated room. Quiet. Loved the included breakfast and a great view of the bay. Very convenient as a mid point rest stop for our trip north.
- Daniel (10/5): - Dalakot in Budardalur was a very nice place to stop for the evening as we made our way from Akureyri to Reykjavik. We had a family room, which was clean and was quite spacious compared to other guesthouses we had stayed at in Iceland. The beds were comfortable and we all slept well. The shared bathrooms were clean and served our needs. It was quiet in the evening, and walking along the fjord coastline at the edge of town in the evening was quite pleasant!
- CB7982 (10/5): Quality guesthouse with very friendly service - Staff were very approachable, friendly and offered some good advice on the roads in the surrounding area. Our room was a good size and there was a small sink within and access to shared bathroom facilities. We never had any issue getting the use of them when required and there was plenty of room within them.
We ate our evening meal at Dalakot and both of us thoroughly enjoyed our burgers and beer. The male waiter was very good in showing us the local craft beers they had available and gave some good recommendations. Breakfast was simple yet fresh and tasty and there was plenty to go around all the guests. We had a good stay at Dalakot and would definitely stay again if in the area.
- Andrea (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay. Very nice, clean renovated rooms and bathrooms. Breakfast was great.
- Shiri (6/5): Not exactly what i expected from a hotel - Our room window was right by the restaurant door so every time an employee took his break, supply arrived and at the end to the work day- it was like in our room
- Michael (10/5): - excellent little stop over in small town, with friendly staff
- Miriam (6/5): Staff great, room was disappointing. - Staff deserve a 10/10! They were all very polite and helpful. Breakfast was good and lunch was good too. It’s really handy to have a restaurant inside your hotel in Iceland!
The problem was the noise coming from an outside door right in front of our window! The room was also extremely tiny, we couldn’t open our baggage and could barely open the doors.
- Mary (10/5): - Incredible experience
- Kathy (8/5): - It was a nice place to stay, very clean and courteous staff. The food was excellent.
- Josee (10/5): Good location - Loved it
- Jessica (8/5): - We had a triple room with ensuite and it was very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was good and there are tea and coffee facilities in the hallway. Good restaurant for dinner. A couple of small maintenance issues in the bathroom could be addressed.
- Joseph (10/5): Friendly staff and perfect - Friendliest Staff and very nice people that made the stay perfect. Very nice room and worked out perfect
- sternaauparadis (6/5): Restaurant - This review is for the restaurant. We did not go to the hotel. The restaurant is correct, not more, but people are nice and welcoming. For a pizza or burgers, if you need to eat and passing by Budardalur, this place does the job. It is located off the main road but very easy to find.
- Chris (10/5): - Nice place that allowed us access to other spots to visit. Be careful for the unpaved roads taking you to other places. That was an experience.
- MariolaAhaha (2/5): Awful food and service in the restaurant - Pizza tasted terrible, and felt like it was reheated with raw onions sprinkled on top.
Chicken nuggets are from frozen and not real chicken, fries were cold. Service didn't care about the food as they didn't bother asked as why we didn't eat it and didn't pay for it. I guess it happens often. Not recommended to eat. No comment about the stay.
- John (8/5): - Nice property. Convenient with restaurant and continental breakfast. Generally very pleased. Really the only issue was it was a bit noisy into sleeping hours.
- Hollie (10/5): Lovely view and food - The stay was very nice and our room had a view out to the water. We had a private bathroom room which was nice. The staff was all super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and delicious and we got pizza at their restaurant for dinner and it was the best pizza we’ve ever had! Would definitely recommend this place.
- neilrQ735AH (10/5): Great place to stay - Really good location as a base for stopping on your ring road tour or before heading up into the west fjords. Very friendly and helpful staff and great to have the onsite restaurant (the pizza is ace). Rooms are clean and warm and just what we needed. Would highly recommend this hotel.

- Andrzej (6/5): Another cheap guesthouse - Before I checked in I drove around this small settlement found one restaurant (fish) and one take away bar ahh and ice cream parlour. There is a grocery + shop with a ready made food and petrol station. As it was to early to go to restaurant (looked more professional than one in a hotel) and started to rain I opted to rest a bit in a room.
Room was with a shared bath but as I was doing this reservation late at night it is my problem.
Room clean and more than basic two not comphy beds two chairs and table standard one star for a guesthouse as it is not called HOTEL bathrooms clean with a few broken parts.
Corridor over packed with a family unwanted furniture so no chance to seat and enjoy the view. But there is no view as it is industrial estate.(photo misleading). If your calculations will show that this is area where you have to stop .yes do so as hotels here of this category are all the same but hard cored.
- mitchell (10/5): - Great hotel! Owners were able to accommodate a late check-in.
- Ulysses Jeronimo (10/5): - The good was amazing!
- Rachel (8/5): - Hostel/rooms were as described, Clean, basic rooms/beds, could be a little noisy with doors shutting but not too bad. Breakfast was standard cold Icelandic breakfast (fruits, veggies, meats/cheese slices, bread, cereal, juice, coffee/tea, etc.). Restaurant food was average, had a burger and fries. Overall, I would stay here again.
- monaontheway (10/5): Fantastic dinner - This is a small little treasure. The staff is super extremely friendly and nice. We ordered 2 pizzas and that was amazing :) We had a super fabulous waitress from Italy, she is absolutely the best! One of the chef served us the dinner.. We re so glad about it.
- André (8/5): Great restaurant in unassuming bed and breakfast - Our triple room was roomy but lacked "storage space". Just a couple of hooks on the wall for the jackets and a little area for baggage would have been appreciated.
On the other hand the restaurant had a very pleasant fast-food type menu and as we stayed there we had a 15% discount. One of the most affordable dinners in our trip.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Property was nice and clean and in a nice area. My only problems were, first, there was a sporting even being broadcast in the adjoining restaurant until about 10pm, and it was very rowdy and loud in there. Not that big a deal really, but we did feel we had to find another place to eat. It would have been nice to try the restaurant. The rooms are very close to the restaurant so they weren’t quiet until everyone left. Finally, there were many occupied rooms and only two bathrooms to share. That was challenging too.
But otherwise, it is a nice clean place in a beautiful area.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Well located, close to restaurants and gas stations on main roads
- Archer (10/5): - Amazing very friendly. Food was great and a good value. Had a great breakfast the chef’s very talented we loved it
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Notalegur gisti og veitingastaður
Get mælt með Dalakoti
- folliajuve (6/5): Dalakot restaurant - Passing through Budardalur we stopped in this restaurant for dinner. It isn't an easy place to spot. From the outside it looks like a private house and nothing makes you guess there is a restaurant inside. My friends wanted to go away, but I tried the door and...it was open!! Surprisingly the menu offered different options, from pizza to lamb. Pizza was average but I had fish and it was good and so was my husband's choice: the lamb. Fair pricing for what we ate. Kind waitress.
- Tomas (10/5): Lovely friendly place to stay. - Incredibly friendly staff greeted us on arrival and showed us to our room and where the amenities were. Rooms were clean and tidy. The beds were pretty comfortable. Shared bathroom was very nicely up to date with a good shower. There was free tea and coffee in the shared area too and an extra sink which helps reduce pressure on the bathrooms.
We also had dinner there and the pizza was perfectly decent and reasonable value.
Overall, very happy with the stay.
Perhaps free shampoo/soap in the showers would be a nice addition but not critical.
- StefanThor1984 (10/5): Very good food at a very fair price - Whent here with my parents. They had lambchops very good and spiced very well to fit with the bernaise sauce. I had the burger called the president. Classical burger with some oriental twist. Great value on wine. Bottle of Faustino VIII Tempranillo at 4200isk is a price hardly seen in Reykjavík. Food, bottle of wine and a pinte of beer for just over 11.000 isk is a very good value. Friendly and fast service.
Highly recommend a visit here and the campsite is also fantastic. Also check out the Vínland museum. Great art and spoken guied about Leifur Heppni who found Vínland(USA),Greenland and the old saga.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The place was clean and the people were nice. They also have a restaurant in there. The food was amazing. We had the lamb chops.
- Marc2396 (10/5): Lovely place to stay and enjoy good food. - My girlfriend and I stayed for some nights and we loved it. The rooms are modern with love in details and you have everything you need. Especially the bathroom is very good. The food served everyday is brilliant from breakfast to dinner. A big compliment to the staff that make you feel home. We totally recommend this place.
- Rhiannon (10/5): Amazing! - I had an amazing stay at this place! I was here during an artic type of hurricane and the hosts were so kind and accommodating with me. Thank you for everything. It was very my appreciated!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lacked a few basic facilities ..... Complementary tea ,coffee ,biscuits etc in room + didn't cater well for gluten free allergy sufferers.....Staff very friendly though ...good for a stop over...
- ehansi1 (8/5): Perfect for one night - My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night during our road trip in November 2019. We had a private room with shared bathrooms. The staff was friendly and the room was very nice with comfortable beds. The guesthouse had free parking right outside and restaurants close by. Can definitely recommend for one night.
- Eduardo (10/5): - Good house for 6 people. The view to the ocean is great and the staff was very nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cool location, we had the triple room with a great view and private entrance which was nice. Very clean, modern and loved the bathrooms heated floors!
- _lfarg2015 (10/5): Quick service - Very quick service. One of best pizza I have ever had. And prices are very good. Recomend bernaise sauce with the fries and good on the pizzas as well. Good view over the fjord. Clean and nice place to go to.
- T7823AWpeterd (4/5): Cold Heartless Charmless ‘highway hotel’ - You have to leave a deposit to get a hairdryer. They won’t let you charge with your room key, there is no desert for dinner, the staff is surly. But it is warm and looks clean. Used by airlines who cancel flights so they have no motive to be friendly.
- Charlie (8/5): - This was just a stopover from Akureyri to thr Dynjandi waterfall. Did not stay for breakfast. My room did not have a tv. Clean, shared bathroom
We had dinner there. Decent.
- Deborah (10/5): Great place to stay - They were so great to let us check in late and were so accommodating and was the nicest place we stayed on the ring road.
- oliverb462 (10/5): Very helpful staff - sent me my lost headphones in the post - I left my iPhone headphones when I stayed at Dalakot. The kind folk at this charming guesthouse could easily have claimed not to have found them or have charged me to send them via international mail. They did neither. Instead, they responded quickly to my inquiry by email and posted the headphones without charge. A great gesture of hospitality!
- gizago (10/5): Excellent - This is a really simple place but excellent in every way. A warm welcome by a lady who clearly is proud and passionate about here home area.
We stayed for 2 nights in a warm, reasonably spacious room. It's shared facilities but it's clean and easy.
We are twice. The menu is simple and basic (burgers and pizzas) but great quality and value.
Breakfast is a nice touch, as is the free coffee, tea and fruit.
All in all, very compariable with most guesthouse accommodation in Iceland.
We were also lucky enough to see the village pet seals!
- 768vasilikiv (8/5): Great pizza - We ate at The restaurant 2 Pizzas and we drunk 2 Cokes. The Pizza was very tasty.
We paid 40 €. The staff was very friendly and kind.
They asked us if we have seen aurora and they advise us about The weather and The possibility to see it.
It is a quiet and beautiful place.
- Vijith_Shetty (8/5): Nice stay in Vesturland - We stayed for a night before leaving for Arnarstapi.
It was little expensive compared to other accommodations we stayed in Iceland.
The breakfast offered was good to start the day. The host were also vey nice.
The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable
- panoss600 (8/5): One night stay - Great room, very clean and quite spacious, the bathroom was great and very clean too. The staff was very helpful whenever asked. The breakfast was good enough too with good variety . Value for money for sure!!
- Q1267OBkellym (10/5): Perfect unexpected place - We stayed one night at the Dalakot and ate dinner and breakfast there. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the shared bathrooms were very tidy. The dinner and breakfast were both delicious. I would definitely stay here again.
