- Rossen (9/5): Unique, powerful location right on the Japan Sea, great view - Amazing location and onsen The traditional futon bed was very hard and the pillow very uncomfortable.

- Suzanne (4/5): Disappointing -
- Libby (8/5): Very good - The view! Clean and comfortable room. The bathhouse was exquisite and the hotel was really beautiful. The service - very helpful when we requested different pillows. The decor and creativity of the Walrus Club. Very limited food offerings. The walrus club was great fun place to sit but the food and drink offering very poor. This property has so much potential but we might have stayed in an off season time for them.
- Norma (8/5): - The hotel is in a beautiful location but if you want to go into town it’s a very long walk. Hotel offers shuttle service but limited schedule to return. Very few taxis available. The staff is very helpful to accommodate you but you must plan in advance. The onsen in the hotel is very nice with stunning ocean views.
- Andrew (9/5): The service was great and exceptional but the shuttle transport to and from needs improvement. - We loved the service we got from here, specially Kazui. She made our stay extra comfortable and with ease. We missed our shuttle transport from the station to the hotel, she arranged for us to be picked up again. She provided us with great communication and was patient with us English speakers and knowing little Japanese. She helped arranged our massages, our private onsen reservation and even checked in on us on our first morning. Hands down she deserves accolades and so much more. The hotel also provides the best view of all which is the Sea of Japan. The sound of the waves and just the overall aesthetic of this hotel is worth going. The shuttle bus should be a bit a more clear and at least the hotel offer a description of what it looks like. We needs our shuttle bus the first time because it was only written in Kanji characters which I understand we are in Japan but there should be consideration given to those we don’t. They were lots of tourists that don’t know how to read Kanji and I’m sure the hotel would certainly get more guests if they do this.
- Debra (10/5): Best stay ever - Everything
- Yuen (6/5): Pleasant -
- Davos (7/5): Good and bad fair way out of town 20 au in a cab next to marine world great for kids - I could rate this place 2 ways .. the original room we booked was old tired worn out and dirty marks on wall .. midnight first night used toilet and the bathroom above had flooded and leaking onto us …yeeew 😩.. so down to reception .. I googled there best room and showed a pic and insisted .. so we were moved to a very nice modern room .. much happier and enjoyed that .. the breakfast only just adequate fir a good hotel cold ish hot food .. the public onsen was very very good I thought ,we and I hired in room shiatsu masseuse who was very very good No tea coffe making in room although a coffe lounge help yourself near our room .. it wasn’t operating till 7 am … shuttle bus has limited operating hours
- Tan (10/5): Great access to the Marine World and in house shared onsen that opens till 1am. - The profit to Kinosaki marine world and the onsen
- Nikita (8/5): Very good -
- Julia (10/5): Amazing experience and excellent hotel - Amazing views and staff were incredible There was faint smell of tobacco smoke
- Denise (8/5): I like that it is traditional and we had a great time with the robes and going into town for the public onsen. - The staff especially the front desk man that came running out to help us with the shuttle etc and the manager were exceptional. So helpful and kind. The decor is a little dated, it would be nice to have access to coffee or tea at all hours, the smoking was not pleasant, the location is far from town, you should be able to add on dinner if you decide to… I wish there was an outdoor onsen section with a view of the ocean.
- Brennan (8/5): Very good - Beautiful setting, great views and onsen It was a little haggard , needs a renovation
- Sandra (10/5): - Kinparo Hotel was exceptional. It’s rated a 3•.in Japan. But anywhere else it would be minimum 4* or 5*. Our room was beautifully decorated with an amazing view of the mountains and ocean.it was a real treat to stay in this lovely hotel. It’s also only 10 min drive / shuttle bus from Kinosaki which a lovely spa / onsen town with weeping willows on s small canal. The hotel is a hidden gem.
- Seyed Mohammad (8/5): - Very friendly, quiet and relaxing hotel.
The only problem I had was limited number of dishes on the menu and only serving the dinner.
- Ayase (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jean (10/5): - Tranquility
Aimabilite du personnel
- Emily (6/5): Nice enough stay near the sea - Sea view, lovely inside and outside onsen The room smelt of smoke - even though
we asked to be moved from the first room
as it was a smoking one - the second room
still smelt.
- Vasu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christopher (8/5): Very good - Very friendly staff. You can phone to be collected from the JR Kinosaki Onsen station. Lovely on-site onsen area. Pillows slightly uncomfortable. Booking.com listed the property as Kinosaki Onsen when actually it is further away and an 1 hours walk so it isn’t one of the hotels you can then walk around in your Yukata around the Onsen town.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Happytraveller258 (8/5): The very few hotel in Kinosaki Onsen with Ocean view - Located between Kinosaki Marine Park ( free pass for room guests) and Kinosaki Country Club . All three share same owner . View of sea , rocks and small hills .
We stayed in newly renovated non smoking wing . Room comes with 2 western style twin beds and futon for 2 people on the tatami floor in the adjoining sitting room .
Both rooms has ocean view and view of marine Park
Separate toilet and shower / bathroom . Fridge and tv in both rooms .
Water is drinkable from the taps . No free mini bar items . Yukata and Hanten are provided and changed daily . There is a safe with keypad in the drawer
Service from front desk , restaurant , house keeping and free shuttle van staffs is great 👍 and very friendly .
Whole hotel provide free wifi with good speed .
There is a lounge on level 4 with free tea and coffee for our room type .
Onsen on level one has separate men and women section . It has about 20 showers stools , indoor onsen and small spa pool with jets and 2 water fall outlets . There a sauna and outdoor onsen . Both onsen has ocean view .
We stayed for 2 nights and opted for buffet breakfast on level 1 instead of Japanese style in Dining San on level 3 . For dinner we were served crab and beef on first night . Though not Matsuba crab it was satisfying . The second night has abalone form Japan sea and dish meal which is also nice
We though we got value for our money
- danielyong (8/5): Luxurious by the seaside - It is a Top 250 onsen no doubt because it is so luxurious and spacious. The rooms are massively big. Just go for the smallest and that is big enough. It is just next to the marine world and they offer hotel guests half price tickets. The place is just mins from kinosaki. The dinner is fantastic! But the price I paid is not cheap for such a stay. Cospa wise not high.
- brendalah (8/5): Worth it for the view + fantastic onsen - Pros
1. Fantastic onsen - clean , plush and with a view to die for
2. Gorgeous setting on a cliff overlooking the sea
3. Good Japanese style rooms - very large by Japanese standards. Lobby feels a bit old and grubby but once you get to the room it feels very homely.
4. Nice cosy in house Japanese restaurant 5. Good aquarium next door - handy if you need to entertain kids
Cons
1. Out of town - they run a few shuttles to the town during the day. However we went out for an early dinner and it was a bit of a challenge finding a taxi to get back to the hotel. Cab ride to the town and back is not cheap.
2. Breakfast shuts at 9am which is a bit early if you want to have a late start
Overall definitely worth it
- thomaskuo01 (8/5): Unparalleled location. Gorgeous ocean view - The location is the feature unparalleled in this big vacation hotel with considerable scale. The hotel is right on the cliff by the Sea of Japanese. Looking out from the hotel is a gorgeous ocean view.
At afternoon, I sat in the spacious and tall lobby with a cup of coffee and enjoyed the beautiful sunset. The scene was exactly like the name of the hotel, Golden Wave. This wonderful experience was already worth the charge.
The hotel room was huge and comfortable. The outdoor spa was right by the sea. It was enjoyable to indulge in both the spa and the sea view at the same time. However, one disadvantage was the noise from the neighboring Marine Park.
There was a big gift shop with a variety of selections in the hotel. Although the shop lacked high-end stuff, one could indeed pick up lots of souvenirs here to fill up one's suitcase, too.
Their meal was about average. We had Mastuba crab set for dinner, which was prepared in an ordinary but not spectacular way. Upon the recommendation of the restaurant’s website, we ordered an extra dish of steamed Wagyu(黒毛和牛の蒸シャブ), yet it was overcooked and disappointing.
Furthermore, the staff was attentive. Before visiting, I contacted the Ryokan via email arranging details, and they were responsive and helpful.
All in all, Kinparo is a pleasant choice for family vacations.
- lowzip (10/5): Magnificent Views! - First off, the pictures you see of this hotel doesn't lie. The views are absolutely stunning. That alone made it worth it for me. Gazing at the sea from my room while sipping on the provided green tea was a very soothing experience. Service is also very good and attentive, which is what you would expect given the high price.
Facilities-wise, it's not a new building, and it shows. Some things like tables and such look quite worn out. And there's no free Wifi, so be prepared for that. The multi-course dinner was very good, but also very pricey. The breakfast buffet was very average though.
It's about a 10 minute car ride from Kinosaki station, but a complementary shuttle service is provided. Honestly, Kinosaki is supposed to be famous for it's 7 onsens. I hit 5 of the 7 public bath houses before I left, and I was left quite unimpressed. They were pretty bland, and the outdoor onsen this hotel offered with an ocean view was far better in my experience. And if you have time to kill, Kinosaki Marine World is literally next door, so you can always watch some seals perform some neat tricks (I was provided a voucher upon checking in).
Overall, a superb stay. High recommended.
- 57barrettn (10/5): Authentic Japanese style room with an amazing view! - Over the winter break, I decided to take a small trip up to Kinosaki for relaxation. Famous for onsen and crab, Kinosaki was on my list of places to visit in the Kansai region. After a decent train ride, I discovered myself in this quaint town bustling with sightseers. Luckily for me, I saw a shuttle bus with the name of the hotel on the side parked at the station. The driver spoke very little English, but my name was conveniently on his list and I got on. (I would suggest inquiring about the shuttle beforehand and not depend on sheer luck like myself, as the hotel is quite far from the actual city.) The hotel is breathtaking. Nestled right against the Sea of Japan, the view is spectacular. The staff spoke excellent English and checking in was a breeze. In traditional ryokan fashion, I was shown to my room and served tea. The view from the room was mesmerizing as I gazed out the window enjoying my tea. Eventually, I put on my yukata and explored the hotel. The bathhouse was refreshing after a days travel. I greatly enjoyed the cool winter air of the outdoor pool that overlooked the angry sea below. The feast I had for dinner was nothing short than marvelous. The package I choose included a 12 course meal consisting of every imaginable way to have crab and of course the regions popular wagyu beef. Add a couple 1 liter mugs of draft beer to the list and suffice to say I slept well on my futon that evening. The next day, I enjoyed a wonderful breakfast buffet before heading to the sea aquarium attached to some penguins and walruses lounging around. After checking out, I took the courtesy shuttle back to Kinosaki and was able to enjoy the other onsens and shops the little town has to offer.
Overall the experience was spectacular! I highly suggest anyone in the region to head to Kinosaki and enjoy Hotel Kinparo!
- TravelEaDrink_Repeat (8/5): Spectacular views, great service - We were there for 3 days at the end of June.
The location is spectacular. Our room overlooks the ocean and we had stunning views. The hot bath was also very clean, spacious and had the same spectacular view of the ocean. The outdoor bath is one of the best onsen experiences I've had. The service was also excellent, when we were too tired to wake up for breakfast, the ladies brought a tray up for us.
We had a Japanese room and slept on tatami mats, which was a fun and novel experience for us (although I must say that it is not something we can sleep on for a long time).
However, the hotel is about a 10 mins car ride from Kinosaki Onsen. There are shuttles to town only in the morning and the only other way to and from is by taxi, which may be a wait. That meant that once we head out to Kinosaki Onsen, we pretty much stayed out there.
Other than the hotel and the Sea World next door, there was nothing else near the hotel.
Some of the furniture was fraying and I would recommend that the hotel fix those up as those as the finer details that makes a difference between good and very good.
- kittyjoy (10/5): Excellent Staff Service! - Stayed in the 80+m2 Western-style Club Room. The room was large with the side view of the ocean. It's exactly 10-min drive from the station.
At first, I hesitated to book the Kaiseiki Dinner as it was Beef course which I couldn't eat. But after emailed the hotel, Miss Kazue Imazu was so nice trying to explain about their available choices and also offer other good meal options. Upon arrival Kinosaki Station, shuttle bus had already been provided for us.
Unlike other Japanese Hotels, at Kinparo, they were always flexible with shuttle bus time which was very convenient for guests. All the staffs, especially Miss Kazue, always tried their best to make the most of our stay. Both breakfast and dinner were prepared by high-quality ingredients. We appreciated all the great services and enjoyed our stay so much.
- Christine_Kok (8/5): Great view, traditional room - My husband and I stayed at this hotel in April 2016. An earthquake in Kumamoto required us to change our travel itinerary, and we booked this hotel last-minute with virtually no research.
The view of the sea of Japan was impeccable! We also received two free tickets for an aquarium that is very near the hotel. Admission would normally cost ¥7000, so this was a nice feature, and we enjoyed the aquarium.
We had a traditional Japanese room, which was nice for two nights, but we would not want to do it longer than that. For us, sleeping on a futon on the floor was not very comfortable, so we doubled them up. LOL.
I think this is one of the nicest places to stay in the area, and the onsen at this hotel was better (and cleaner) than the one we saw in town.
While they do not speak a lot of English here, their customer service is great, and they tried their best. They even took us to town, and picked us up using their shuttle bus without an additional charge.
The meal that we were served on the first night was almost all seafood and fish, (which we don't eat), but on our second night, they changed the menu to give us an almost all beef menu. I don't think that they are allowed to change what they give you on the first night, or maybe they needed more notice?
If you are interested in an authentic Japanese hotel/ryokan experience, this is it.
- YKim (10/5): For a more traditional Japanese experience - My recent stay at Hotel Kinparo was in a traditional Japanese room in the older wing.
We are a family of 5 adults and I was initially looking at the more modern rooms in the newer wing. Unfortunately these modern rooms have a maximum capacity of 4 adults thus I had to settle for the Japanese room in the old wing instead.
Actually the Japanese room isn't too bad. It was furnished in a more traditional style and very clean.
On the right of the entrance is a separate toilet and Japanese bath setup.
Then there is an alcove containing the minibar and the thermos and tea cups/ teapot and complimentary Japanese teabags.
The bottles of beer/ soda and water in the minibar are chargeable though.
Then you have a set of sliding doors that leads to the tatami matted area of the room set up with a low table and chairs where your server will serve you tea and refreshments as part of the checkin process.
The room has a glorious view of the sea. There is a little sunken carpeted area with a sofa and coffee table right by the window which can be opened on both sides to let in the fresh sea breeze.
This hotel is about 10 mins driving distance from Kinosakionsen JR Station. Look for the hotel bus which is well signed as you exit the station. The drive has a list of the number of guests checking into the hotel that day and will check that all guests are on board before moving off.
I booked the plan with full course crab dinner and buffet breakfast and we were given vouchers for the meals during check in. Vouchers for half price entrance to the marine world next to the hotel was also given but we didn't make use of that.
I asked about coin operated washing machines and was shown instead to the inhouse laundry machine just opposite the public baths. There were 3 sets of washer/dryer used primarily by the hotel to launder their bath towels but the hotel kindly let us use a set to launder our soiled clothings.
The public baths consists of two indoor baths and an outdoor rock bath.
Obviously the more popular bath is the outdoor bath as you can feel the sea breeze as you bath.
The toiletries provided by this hotel is of good quality, both Pola and Shiseido brands.
Our full course crab dinner was fantastic. You start off with a non alcoholic aperitif, in our case Yuza honey. Each person gets a whole boiled crab and a starter course of various small morsels of seafood items.
Then we had a wonderful sashimi consisting of crab sashimi, sea bream sashimi, amaebi. I also remembered a baked crab course, a tempura crab course and a crab hotpot course.
3 of us had a wonderful steamed tajima beef dish dipped in ponzu sauce. The other 2 who cannot take beef had steamed belly pork instead as replacement.
We ended the meal with a desert of a coffee flavored mousse like cake with a citrusy grapefruit sauce which was wonderfully refreshing after the heavy meal.
Breakfast was buffet style offering more Japanese items than western items. If you aren't too keen on grilled fish and rice for breakfast, there are various types of freshly baked breads and pastries, sausages, bacon, yogurt and fruits you could partake of.
The service in this hotel is more personal and warm. They really tried their best to cater to guests requests.
We decided at the last minute to catch the 9.33am train back to Osaka and had just missed the 8.40am hotel shuttle bus that departs for Kinosakionsen station. The next hotel shuttle don't depart till 9.15am but as we had lots of luggages, we asked if the hotel could arrange a bus to send us to the station earlier. They were very obliging and specially arranged a bus just for the 5 of us immediately.
We got to the station in good time to make the train back to Osaka.
I will return to this hotel should I visit Kinosaki Onsen if only just to relax and have the wonderful meals again.
Definitely recommended!
