- Derya (10/5): Most authentic and beautiful stay in Montezuma - I had an amazing stay at Nya Hotel in Montezuma, Costa Rica, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best places to stay in the area. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning. The design is beautiful—modern yet perfectly blended into the surrounding jungle. Being right in the middle of nature, surrounded by lush greenery and wildlife, made the whole experience feel peaceful, unique, and truly special. You really feel immersed in Costa Rica’s natural beauty while still enjoying comfort and style. The location is excellent—just a short walk to the beach, restaurants, and local shops, making it incredibly convenient while still feeling private and tranquil. It’s the perfect balance. The pool area is gorgeous and ideal for relaxing after a day of exploring, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel is calm and welcoming. There are so many animals around, which adds to the magic of staying here. Breakfast is included and absolutely delicious, with great quality and taste every morning. One of my favorite touches was the surprise afternoon dessert delivered to the room each day—such a thoughtful and delightful detail. What truly makes this place stand out is the team. Dani, Jordan, Arturo, Nilton, and the rest of the staff were exceptional. As a solo traveler, I felt incredibly well looked after. Their care, kindness, and attention made my stay not only comfortable but genuinely memorable. Nya Hotel is more than just a hotel—it’s an experience. Beautiful design, perfect location, amazing service, and a unique jungle setting make it, in my opinion, the best hotel in Montezuma. I would absolutely stay here again. -

La chambre est vraiment confortable même si elle n’est pas du dernier cri, et le ménage était impeccable. Avant notre départ, nous avons été victime d un hackeur qui s’est fait passer pour cet hôtel. j’ai aussitôt contacté l hôtel et ils ont pris les choses très sérieusement en avertissant Booking ce qui a déclenché une enquête et grâce à leur mobilisation j’ai pu ne pas perdre d argent, merci beaucoup… Le menu du restaurant ne nous a pas du tout donné envie, l ambiance, le style était en décalage avec l hôtel très nature. Il y manque des plats plus conviviaux et une ambiance plus détendue en ce qui me concerne.

Area fumatori (anche se mancavano i posacenere). Personale mediamente gentile. Suite king deluxe con balcone molto piccola (camera al massimo di 14 mq + bagno minuscolo + balcone di al massimo 10 mq) nemmeno lontanamente vicina ai 65 mq scritto su Booking. Luci bruttine. Bagno piccolo e brutto senza posto per riporre le cose e con doccetta (no un vero soffione) e tenda. Balcone senza privacy. Succo di frutta della colazione estremamente diluito con acqua e caffè espresso non incluso. Piscina molto più piccola di come sembrava dalle foto.

- Kevin (10/5): - We really enjoyed the service and food in the restaurant. It's that feeling when food is prepared with love. It was very tasty and clean! While we were waiting for our main courses, they brought us crispy bread with cheese spreads, and for dessert, we got to try fruit ice cream, courtesy of the restaurant. The waiters were very friendly, especially Artur. He makes delicious non-alcoholic cocktails and will recommend one to suit your taste! He's a very welcoming guy. The hotel is budget-friendly, but very clean, and the sheets and towels smell nice and fresh.

The staff truly made the experience memora - Clean, safe, walking distance to the beach and friendly staff. My stay started off a bit rocky, my original room had issues with the AC and the shower leaked onto the floor. However, I really have to give credit where it’s due: Esteban completely turned the situation around. He was incredibly helpful and understanding, and quickly offered me an upgraded room, which made a huge difference in my experience. This isn’t so much a complaint about the property itself, but more about how these small maintenance issues can impact a first impression. That said, the staff’s responsiveness, especially Esteban’s, more than made up for it. Great customer service goes a long way, and thanks to that, I still had a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

- Larissa (10/5): - Die Lage des Hotels ist ein Traum, man ist eigentlich mitten im Dschungel und wird schon früh morgens in der schönen Anlage von Wildtieren begrüßt - wir konnten zum Beispiel ein Coati in der Nähe sehen. Das Frühstück ist besonders hervorzuheben - die Gerichte schmecken herrlich. Außerdem ist es kein klassisches Buffet, sondern à la carte. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und immer hilfsbereit.

- Alex (5/5): Not really 4 star hotel - The room was clean. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and accomodating. Breakfast was excellent. It is not really 4 star hotel compared to the rest of the country. Might be 4 star compared to all accommodation in Montezuma, as the village is very authentic and not a lot of options for a bit more luxury accomodation (mostly backpackers and group accomodations). Pool is undersed as most of the day it is full with bugs, ants and other creatures.

- steveoQ3082GJ (6/5): Hotel Nya - There is sooo much potential when it comes to Hotel Nya for being the price point that it has! This was last part of our trip and we were here for about 4 nights which is a long time for us because we were exhausted and wanted to go home lol. Montezuma itself is a small like town which is soooo perfect and beautiful during the day and night time because of the community and it was such a honor to be there. There really isn't much to do in Montezuma if you're looking for activities that'll keep you busy. Theres a few restaurants and also shops along the park pathway. Now onto the review on the Hotel itself. Its cute! We unfortunately had gotten dropped off at the beach by Zuma tours and had to drag our suitcases across town to Hotel Nya (maybe an 8 min walk? depends on how fast you are but very quick) There was no exact entrance to the reception so we dragged our luggage through gravel onto the restaurant which there was someone WHO DID NOTTT want to be there AT ALL(it was our first and last time seeing her) !! There was a gentleman( so sorry I didn't get a name but he was an absolute angel) at reception that was able to check us in and help us with both my partner's and I luggage (so strong)! We got there a bit early before check in but luckily our room was ready for us when we were there! The "deluxe room with terrace" was just a small room with a bed, table and coffee plus the terrace but we can get access to our neighbors terrace so it wasn't private lol. They did have soap, shampoo/conditioner the works BUT the towels were a bit outdated and thin?? lol I was also a bit irked about no TV in the room which I get it, we need to relax!! We mostly stayed by the pool the entire trip (they provided LUSCIOUS TOWELS) but the sad thing was there was no room service, you cant order drinks at the bar to take to the pool, so we basically had to walk outside the hotel to the local stores to get snacks, drinks! There was no lunch or dinner service at the restaurant ONLY breakfast which served a few items off there. They were in the middle of the transition of rebranding their restaurant so unfortunately we did not have any lunch/dinner which is sad because breakfast was delicious. Overall, Hotel Nya is a great hotel to be at since its a bit more modern for what Montezuma, Costa Rica has to offer. Unfortunately, for the high price point it did not match for the experience.. I just wish we had MORE from Hotel Nya. Its a newer hotel and has some kinks to work out on but still pleasant to stay at We would probably do maybe 2 nights max here if we were to come back!

- Jo (8/5): A great choice if you book the King balcony room and want a comfortable room in downtown Montezuma. - The hotel is well located for downtown Montezuma, but has a really tranquil and quiet feel, surrounded by vegetation and the bonus that the monkeys visit each evening. The pool is a good size and picturesque. The restaurant facilities are also really tastefully done. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed during our visit except for breakfast (which was only advised after booking). We booked a Queen Terrazza room (which showed on booking as the same price as the King balcony) but the room is quite dark, and the walkway to the balcony rooms crossed over the outdoor terrace. We asked to move to a King balcony room and they were able to accommodate the switch for 2 nights of our stay. The balcony rooms are much nicer. The hotel refused to honour the price shown on booking.com when we switched rooms, and booking.com themselves are taking no accountability for honouring the price shown on their site, which is pretty poor customer service. We were also disappointed that the hotel restaurant was only open for breakfast; and breakfast was particularly slow as they were training new staff (to be fair, the chef came out and apologised for the 45 mins wait).

- Kristiina (8/5): Great location, garden, pool and premises, but very small dark rooms - The location in Montezuma village was fantastic, everything in walking distance and the village itself charming. The surrounding greenery around the hotel was lovely, well kept and marvellous, plus lots of animal spotting (tapiri, monkeys, frogs). We also loved the pool and breakfast area. The additional option of yoga was magnificent, the terrace it was practiced on, was hidden in the midst of a jungle, with ocean and nature sounds all around you - nothing short of amazing! Even though the room itself did not have a balcony, the terrace outside with seating was nice. The room was very small and felt cramped - nowhere to open your suitcase. It also was very dark, the windows were to the backside into the forest and gave no light. The bathroom was also scarce - no space to put your toiletries. The recommendation probably is not to book the basic room, but one with own balcony. Breakfast choice was a bit limited, you could only get either just fruit or just eggs, but to have both, there was an extra charge.
- Rebecca (10/5): Stunning hotels nestled in nature - Beautiful hotel and grounds. Nya is located a short walk from Montezuma. The grounds are stunning with pathways through lush forest. There’s little nooks with hammocks, a yoga platform, and gorgeous pool. Sitting at the pool and watching monkeys, squirrels and tropical birds was amazing. We ate breakfast and one dinner in the restaurant. Breakfast was a great start to the day with the daily juice, varied menu and coffee. The bar had a great happy hour, with a fun bar tender who made delicious cocktails. I highly recommend this hotel when staying in Montezuma

- johnbE2982RE (8/5): Nice hotel in a funky little town. - Overall a pleasant experience. A bit pricey, but the grounds were beautiful, and even though you felt like you were in the middle of the jungle, the beach and town were only 100 metres away. Lots of amenities. Our room was small but nice, and had a very relaxing terrace in the back. Breakfast was provided from a large selection and was delicious. Staff were courteous. They even delivered a bottle of champagne to our room for our anniversary at no charge, which we thought was a nice touch. A few complaints though. - We had no hot water for most of our stay. - There is no obvious entrance for parking, so we drove around confused for a while. - The first day, we left our room with the temperature set to 27, and both doors locked. When we returned, the temperature was set to 19 and the terrace door was unlocked. - Our towels were a bit tattered for the price of the hotel. Even though this hotel is probably the nicest in Montezuma, it's also the priciest. However, we did enjoy our stay here, so if you want to treat yourself a bit while in Montezuma, I do recommend it.

- Jocelyne (8/5): Book into hotel, go elsewhere to eat. - Great location and the hotel is nicely designed, but starting to look shabby and need a deep clean, The hotel is a separate business to restaurant and whilst they serve pretty good food,the staff were absolutely atrocious and clueless, the bar was never stocked, so every item they were leaving bar to go get 1/2 an hour was about time for two Margaritas each day! It was so frustrating that we didn’t bother eating there after the first night. The hotel staff very efficient and couldn’t do enough to help and very charming. We stayed here for a special occasion and the restaurant. We were disappointed. The restaurant staff and cleanliness of restaurant.

Breakfast was the best we had in Costa Rica (with a choice from a full menu), and we were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The rooms are on the smaller side, but well appointed and very clean.

The room was spacious and the bathroom was built in such a way that at least 3 of the 4 of us could make use of it independently. Breakfast was very good which was included. We dined there for the whole of our stay. Food was very good with reasonable prices.
- DLS72 (10/5): A little slice of paradise - My husband and I have been visiting nYa and Montezuma for several years and decided this year to get married here. It is our favorite place on earth. The staff helped make our day perfect. I couldn't imagine our day being ant better. We enjoyed the hospitality of the hotel for a wonderful honeymoon. The hotel is surrounded by wildlife and is so serene. I recommend to anyone who wants a lovely experience in Costa Rica to visit.
- Daniel (9/5): Great location, beautiful property, helpful staff - The location- quiet area but yet a few minute walk to town. You could hear the sound of the waves from the ocean from the property. The pool was big with many lounge chairs and umbrellas for shade. The staff/manger were very helpful. The property was very lush and tropical. I got a room with a terrace- it was nice to sit outside in the morning. The air conditioner in my room was not working great the first night or second night. I mentioned it to the staff the second day, however, it was not fixed. It was blowing air but not cool air. I ended up extending my stay and by the third day, the staff addressed the issue.
- Andrew (8/5): Fantastic venue to enjoy Montezuma. - Situated two minutes from Montezuma town adjacent to the stunning beach it is ideally situated with all sorts of wildlife wandering around. The pool is a peaceful heaven and regular clean beach towels available all day. The reception staff were excellent (Maria) and the Manager in making us welcome. Our room (suspect cheapest) was very cramped and the accessibility shower leaked water out of the bathroom and into the room, no matter how softly we put the shower on. They are making every effort to develop and fix issues, so would definitely recommend this gem even if you are on a budget as cheaper food options (many excellent) just down the road.

- Semjon (8/5): Very good - The Hotel is beautiful and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony of our room looking into nature. The hotel area is quite big and in the middle of nature but still right within Montezuma. Everything was clean and we also enjoyed the pool. The food at the restaurant was also delicious. The only thing which I want to mention is that during our stay some of the staff seemed partly annoyed or not really into it. The website and Instagram of the hotel suggest a warm hearted place. The staff was not unfriendly per se but kind of cold or not really into it. It was a bit of a strange experience as it influenced our experience of the place.
- Roam12610546593 (8/5): Beautiful but overpriced - Hotel Nya is beautiful and the setting is just perfect. We saw so many monkeys! It was truly the highlight of our stay at Nya. The location of Nya is really convenient, you are just steps away from restaurants, shops and the beach. I did think the hotel was on the beach, but it is actually across the street. You can't see the beach from the property. Our room was nice but small. Felt very minimal. The room was lacking a mirror outside of the bathroom, no TV, no radio, few outlets. The closet was a joke with room to hang two items. No other storage for clothes. The bed was great and pillows were comfy. Unfortunately it was very very loud come 830am. Not sure if it was the maids or other guests but my husband who likes to sleep in was woken up all mornings of our stay. It was nice that breakfast was included but they nickel and dime you. Want strawberries with your yogurt? That will be $2000 colones. Smoothies? Not included. Latte? Nope. Service at the restaurant was to be expected in Costa Rica. Very slow. We asked for water multiple times with our breakfast and never got it. The waiter was nice but for some reason didn't want to bring us water. I took a yoga class which was very peaceful and energerizing all at the same time. I do wish the yoga was included in our stay but unfortunately it cost an additional $15 USD. Overall we enjoyed our stay but felt like the hotel was overpriced. Almost $300 a night with fees & taxes and we had to personally haul our luggage across gravel & up a few stairs to our room. We also had forgotten the bottle of bug spray in our car upon check out and were stopped on our way out to return it. I've never had an issue taking toiletries from a hotel before, it caught us off guard. Comfortable stay but we will stay elsewhere next time we're in Montezuma

- Leah (7/5): Decent for the price. - The Breakfast was excellent- lots of choices and very tasty. The pool was the perfect temperature and a lovely spot to spend time. The is a nice hammock area near the pool, but I didn't use it because it was wet from rain. The landscaping is gorgeous, but never without staff landscaping it which is noisy. The room was very small, faced the parking lot, and you could hear the neighbors on the sides and upstairs easily. There weren't any towels available for the pool. Critters (crabs, centipedes, etc) came into the room under the door. The air conditioning unit needs a manual provided possibly. The yoga and other wellness classes are an additional fee for guests; for the price of the rooms, it seems like it could be included. The music during the daily happy hour is super super loud, which impacts you if you are at the pool or using the lounge areas near the restaurant.
- joanna (6/5): 5 star prices with 1 star service - This hotel has 5-star prices with 1-star service. The hotel is in a good location, nice decor and style. The room was comfortable and clean. The food was OK. However, the service was terrible. Everyone who works there is incapable of working in the service industry, they forget things so you have to ask many times, they got overwhelmed easily and barely anyone was staying there. They mixed up our drink order and charged us more for drinks, when I brought it to their attention they seemed annoyed and challenged me so I had to explain repeatedly the drinks we actually had until they agreed to change the bill. At the pool the sun was going down and it was a little cold, there were no towels, I went up to ask for some, they said they would bring them. I went back up two more times and waited nearly 30 mins, each time they told me to wait but the children were getting colder. In the end I walked up dripping wet into reception and asked for towels, he pretended to not know anything about us needing towels by the pool. At happy hour they encourage you to have a drink from the bar, they took over 30 minutes to make our drinks, there were only 4 other guests, not busy. But the worst part was the person at breakfast every day who was so miserable and unfriendly. She was unhelpful, seemed like we were an inconvenience, made the whole experience unpleasant. You have to ask over and over again for anything you need, not good when staying with small children. A smile would go a long way.
