Ils sont vraiment aux petits soins et rendent le séjour encore plus agréable. Nous avons également fait une magnifique excursion sur le fleuve, un moment très dépaysant et très bien organisé. • Kavin (9/5): It was an unforgettable stay with good memories - Breakfast was delicious although the spread was limited. But that’s not a concern as the portion sizes were good enough for a meal. Not enough parking space inside the property.
• Joshua (4/5): - Room was large and spacious, with a great view over the river however that is where the plus points end. Worse stay in Sri Lanka! The bathroom, particularly the shower was filthy, it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned properly in a long time, as a lot of black mould in the corners. We weren’t comfortable using it. Towels were worn, covered in stains. Overall decor of room was dated, and we didnot feel relaxed and comfortable due to the poor level of cleanliness . Fridge was dirty, and unhygienic, with old dried up muck left on the shelves. It needed a proper deep clean. Staff were unfriendly, with a cold, nonchalant attitude. None of the warm Sri Lankan welcome was in evidence, which we had experienced at every other accommodation we had stayed in during our 2 week stay in Sri Lanka. The pool is in reception and is unusable for swimming as it has a wall in the middle of it. Due to our schedule, we didn’t have time to check out and find anything else, for one night. However, we got up early, and checked out as soon as we could. We couldn’t wait to get out, and stay somewhere else, this time at a hotel with a positive energy, and at least a few smiling faces! How this hotel gets such high reviews only knows?! We certainly felt duped! There are so many great places to stay in Sri Lanka, so it was so disappointmenting that on this occasion, we had such a bad experience.

• Bianca (10/5): I’m very happy with my choice - I loved this hotel, the room was amazing (it even had a jacuzzi) and the restaurant delicious. The owner Nuwan was very nice, he even picked us up at the train station and offered us a welcome drink. I would have loved to stay more! We did the morning river safari and went to the beach in the afternoon, which is right in front, on the other side of the river (they will take you with their boat and pick you up). Highly recommend!
• Alex (10/5): - Наш номер на третьем этаже был очень просторным. Три панорамных окна в пол поразили воображение с первого взгляда. Засыпать и просыпаться с таким видом на реку - это сказка! Огромная кухня-холл со всем необходимым также понравилась. Бассейн чистят каждый день, вода в нем прохладная, было приятно освежиться после прогулок по городу. Завтрак подавался индивидуально (фруктовая тарелка, тосты с маслом и джемом, чай или кофе, сок, йогурт были всегда, на выбор было блюдо из яиц: омлет или яичница, или блинчики с медом и кокосом. Хозяин дома - Nuwan, неплохо говорящий по-русски, был очень услужлив, предложил сафари по реке, экскурсию на небольшую ферму черепах и подвёз нас БЕСПЛАТНО в другой отель в Бентоте, когда мы уезжали. Сюда определенно хочется вернуться! Пляж Бентоты, куда возили на лодке через реку, очень красивый и протяженный, вполне купабельный, хотя есть места и с камнями (о чём вас обязательно предупредят местные гиды там же, на пляже), и с отмелями. Лежаки либо платные (1 тыс рупий в день), либо принадлежат отелям, мы загорали на своих ковриках в тени пальм, места вполне достаточно. Вообще, этот пляж - одна из причин, по которой мы остались в Бентоте, а не поехали на юг, как планировали ранее. Дружеский совет: маленькие полотенца для рук нужно заменить, они очень изношенные и серые (мы ими не пользовались). В холодильнике был небольшой запах, но не критично, т.к. мы всё хранили в пакетах.

• Marc (1/5): Ne mangez pas sur place!!! La fraîcheur n'est pas garantie !! - Chambre bien décorée, une très bonne literie, la vue depuis le balcon sur le bras de mer. Bons petits déjeuners. Safari sympa. Premier après-midi plage. Le soir plateau de fruits de mer (15000lkr et tout sorti du congélateur). Le lendemain matin au réveil, éruption de beaucoup de boutons. Selon eux mouches de sable. Nous pensons plutôt aux fruits de mer que nous n'avons pas fini. La coque du crabe se cassait entre nos doigts et la chair de tout ces fruits de mer était caoutchouteuse avec une odeur étrange. Les boutons ont continué à sortir dans la journée et la nuit suivante. Nous avons évoqué le plateau mais ils étaient en boucle sur les mouches. A notre départ nous avons montré les boutons qui continuaient à sortir, en évoquant encore une fois ces fruits de mer, mais ils nous ont dit qu'ils les avaient conservés au freezer et que ça ne pouvait pas être ça. Ils sont restés sur les mouches, alors que 36 h après les boutons continuaient à sortir. Verdict, suite à la multitude de boutons et démangeaisons, visite chez le docteur qui a confirmé une intoxication. Cortisone et antihistaminiques à forte dose. Nous n'avons pas du tout apprécié la mauvaise foi des propriétaires en voyant l'état de ma jambe. Pour ce qui est du safari, faites le avec quelqu'un d'autre car le moteur du bateau cale toutes les 5 minutes. Notre accompagnateur a dû le redémarrer au moins 15 fois. Il n'y a pas de transat dans la piscine située dans l'accueil du homestay. Nous motivons notre mauvaise note par la mauvaise foi et le manque de sécurité alimentaire. Un conseil ne prenez rien au restaurant.

• Hayden (10/5): A GEM - Amber House is like a small hotel so you feel like part of the family as soon as you arrive. The owners and staff are friendly and attentive, even giving us a free ride to the railway station. The small restaurant produces fantastic food which is eaten in an amazing setting with a great view. Rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean. The internet was quite slow and there were times when hot water was only warm which was a shame as i was looking forward to using the hot tub.
• Ricky (9/5): - Upon arrival at this location, the staff did not hesitate in carrying our bags and belongings, in to our apartment. Our apartment was very spacious, clean with a fantastic views from the balcony. The staff served very tasty meals and drink. For approximately 5000 SL Rupee, the staff took us on a beautiful boat trip, which lasted for approximately 1.5 hours. Overall we had a fantastic time. Definitely a place to consider down south. Again food and drinks served here were tasty. However, I do think some food were a bit pricey, especially the French fries. The French fries (bought separately) are served in small portions for 1400 SL Rupee. But you can have exactly the same portion with chicken omelette for 600 SL Rupee. That didn't make sense and I kindly ask the staff to look into this. Another small point is to have hot water for showering in the evening or when the weather is poor. The Internet connection in our room was at times slow and intermittent.

• Benedicte (10/5): We had a great stay here, Nuwan and his family are great people. We will be back for sure. This was one of our favourite - We had great Sri Lankan breakfast, the best until now! Perfect rover view. Nuwan, the owner, drove us around, we rented kayaks to cross the river to go to a really nice beach. They took us fishing, and prepared a lovely meal the following eveing with our catch. The apartment was spacious, clean, big balcony with river view.

• Ann (10/5): Perfection...already planning to return - Breakfast was exceptional, too much for me to manage,. Location was ideal, near to Aluthgama town center, but far enough away not to be troubled by noise. Excellent train station within walking distance. I have no negatives to report.

• Prasanna (8/5): Good stay by the river and near the beach. - The rooms (king bed suites) were spacious. The view from the balconies of the river were great. There is a functional pool. And the property provides quick access to the beach through a boat ride. Hospitality was quite good, breakfast was customized to meet our vegetarian needs. There is no lift for a G+3 property. Groups with elderly people must factor this. One of our rooms ran into an electrical problem with a blown fuse and it took several hours to get rectified.
• Julia (10/5): Insgesamt 10/10 und super netter Besitzer - Der Besitzer war super nett! Er hat uns mehrmals zum Bus oder Zug gefahren. Auch wenn wir fragen hatten hat er uns immer weitergeholfen. Die gesamte Hotelqnlage war sehr sauber und auch der Pool war toll. Die Boots-Safari, die man über das Hotel buchen kann ist sehr zu empfehlen!! Man sollte nur aufpassen, vor Zusatzkosten, die bei Fotos mit Baby-Krokodilen auf einen zukommen. Da einfach nachfragen dann wird das auch offen kommuniziert.

• Rafael Waldo (10/5): Perfect place to stay in bentota riverside - I like that people that attended us, they were very warm. Also I liked the pool and the fact that the was a boat directly in the hotel to do a river tour and to the beach. Shower had more than enough pressure and water was warm… after a long day this is what I need hehe In general I would repeat again. I didn’t manage to make warm the jacuzzi but I didn’t asked so perhaps is something I was doing wrong.

The husband and wife are very welcoming, the property is well maintained with all good facilites, room was spacious and they offered free boat to the beach. Breakfast was good too. • Munir (10/5): Awesome - Location was perfect for all BENTOTA & surrounding activities. The beach was just across the river for which the owner provided a free boat service. The property was very well maintained, clean & comfortable. The deck facing the river was the icing on the cake. Owner couple were so friendly & accomodating. The breakfast was too good & fresh. Amber house also has a great menu for meals. The swimming pool was cool & clean.

• Stephen (10/5): A lovely quiet location on the river close to the beaches. - The hotel is located just north of the Bentota bridge in Aluthgama on the banks of the river. It’s peaceful and the bedrooms overlook the water. Rooms have comfy beds, good A/C and bathrooms. All have balconies overlooking the river. Staff are lovely and prepare hearty breakfasts and meals. There is also a new pool. Beach options. The hotel staff will take you over the river to the beaches and sea on the far side or further north to the lovely clean Aluthgama beaches. Free of charge.

• Annamaria (7/5): Nice hotel with great potentials, host with quite an attitude - The location was beautiful, the view to the river is breathtaking The room was spacious, with comfy beds Large bathroom with bidet, shower, and jacuzzi Great selection of watersport activities on the river Pool in the lobby The balcony door was impossible to close because the door frames were badly bent (see photo). The jacuzzi was seemingly new (with the protective foil still on it), but in a very bad shape inside, with the wall insulation tape ripped off and fallen between the jacuzzi and the wall. Due to a power outage in the city, the fridge defrosted and flooded the room with water, damaging my bag and some of my clothes. Out of all the problems, this was the only one that I mentioned to the host upon check-out. He became very rude, demanding me to show him my bag. I was willing to do that, although it was already in the car trunk. He instructed his wife to go and check. Even his wife begged him to change his tone. It was a very bizarre experience. At the end he gave a 1800 lkr discount, calling me petty and saying that it's nothing for him, and he has been in this industry for more than 30 years.
• Peter (9/5): Superb - Big room, great view, friendly and helpful staff. What more could you want? It would have been nice if there were comfortable loungers on the balcony rather than straight back chairs.
• Sophie (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely gorgeous stay here, great location, Nuwan and his wife Dinesh were the best hosts, really helpful and kind and had everything you needed. My husband loves to fish and so does Nuwan so husband was able to fish off the decking, kids loved the pool and our room was brilliant, really spacious with smart TV and super comfy beds. The breakfast here was excellent, loads of it and fresh. We are definitely coming back here and highly recommend especially if travelling with kids. Thanks for looking after us so well We loved everything about amber house
• Ivonne (10/5): Exceptional - Great family run business. Lovely atmosphere by the river, excellent food (you can get lunch and dinner and order from a menu). Staff takes you to the other side of the river to a beautiful beach anytime you want. The rooms have a stunning river view, are clean and shower with good pressure and hot water. You can book tours and water sport equipment. We felt very welcome and would definitely go there again.
• Radoslaw (10/5): Huge and comfortable apartment on the top floor with large terrace overlooking the lagoon. - We stayed in the top floor apartment. Place was huge with a large terrace. It was much bigger than we expected and we really enjoyed it. Apartment had great amenities. The terrace is facing west and overlooking the lagoon so each evening we were enjoiying beautiful sunsets. The boat is a great option to get to the beach side and the staff was always ready to drop or pick us up.
• Hill (10/5): Exceptional - We had the most incredible stay at Amber house. The rooms are huge all looking out on the river. They have a little boat that drops you the other side of the river with a short walk through to a beautiful beach. Nuan and his family looked after us very well. Absolutely the best stay since being in Sri Lanka for one month Nothing

• Ravi (9/5): Home Away from Home! - It’s a boutique property. The Owners, Nuwan and Dinisha are a fabulous couple who personally manage everything and ensure your comfort. Beds are comfortable and rooms are large and clean. For me it matters a lot. Location is apt. Beach is across the river. It’s a Home Away from Home. That’s my take! Our first visit to Sri-L and we have some lovely memories of this place. Do ask Nuwan, owner, for a fishing rod, we got good catch and cooked it fresh! Wi-fi is very poor, overall here, as were told , despite router in the room. You have to buy a local SIM for better access.
• Rebecca (10/5): Go there asap! - Great room with a nice balcony with river view, good airco, nice shower, good bed. Friendly owner who offers a free transport to the other side of the lake, where you have access to the beautiful Ventura beach. This beach is easily one of the best beaches we have seen in Sri Lanka: unspoiled, tranquil, very nice zand, cute waves... just incredible! Make sure you get there to enjoy this still widely unknown hidden gem. We wish we could have stayed longer at this amazing location!!! We ended up in Bentota as it lies between Mirissa and Negombo to split up the journey, so we were really surprised that we found this incredible beach there.

• Helen (10/5): APerfect Place - The staff are lovely 😍 and so helpful. Waking up to amazing river views and incredible breakfasts was so special. Rooms are hotel standard and great size, and we loved the location. We extended our stay and will return for sure next time in Bentota.. Nothing at all
• Brasili (10/5): A relaxing spot with the most gorgeous view. - The pool. The balcony view. The service, always ready to help. The activities facilitated by the owner. The big size of the room. The kitchen facilities. Supermarket around the corner. Restaurant on site, and a few a couple of minutes away on tuk tuk. The safety. Kids friendly.
• Lloyd (10/5): Great Bentota 4 night stay - Lovely location overlooking the river and a short free boat ride provided to access the wonderful Bentota beach. Nuwan and Dinesha are great host and cooked a lovely Sri Lankan breakfast (and omelette for the kids) every morning. Family apartment on top floor was very spacious and perfect for us.

This property was then not available. Then second time after some days. we again booked the room as this seems to be good property. Then he. Again contacted us nd said you again booked the room nd he can't give that one (suite) nd said will give us another room in 40$. We agreed. We were in mirrisa nd while going to this property our rental car broke down. I asked him to cancel our reservation since we stucked due to this situation. He was so rude nd unprofessional and was laughing on us.. I would not recommend this property to one. You will other good better than this in same price. • Philip (10/5): Unforgettable Bentota Stay - Ample space with lounge area, 2 comfortable beds and a long balcony. Also, spotless with great decoration and crisp bedsheets. 2 AC units, Staff and owners were very helpful. Modern bathroom with shower cubicle and a jacuzzi bathtub. Very clean. A decent new swimming pool. Cooked us delicious dinner which we loved. Hotel overlooking a beautiful river where we watched speed boating, jet skiing and other rides. We also went on boat safari. Stunning views. Very near to Aluthgama Bus Station. We love it. Will go back. It is a three story building and there is no lift, but we stayed on the second floor and we managed to climb. Wider stairs with proper hand rail.

The pool was nicely located and the view from the hotel was pristine. Would highly recommend the hotel for anyone visiting Bentota.

• Thish (9/5): Cozy and laid back - The location is great, facing the river and with a nice view. The place is a hidden gem. We went with the B&B option and the food spread was totally worth it, and it was beautifully laid out too. The room amenities were all quite comfy and nicely decorated. Easy access to main road + other attractions. Nothing at all ! There's nothing to complaint about. :) Except for the rainy weather throughout, which has nothing to do with the property of course !
• Maryam (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect. The family that runs the hotel are so friendly and helpful. The food options were fair enough. For clarify, there are lizards for those who are afraid from them, but only in balcony at night. The Wifi is very bad, needs to be improved.
• Phil (8/5): A great place to stay, but don’t expect a pool - We had a King Suite and it was roomy and clean. The hosts and staff were all fantastic and the breakfast was great. Great location for an overnight stay. The pool is being renovated at the moment ( for the last few weeks and a few weeks more I believe) but the pool facility entry has not been temporarily removed from booking dot com. When you’re using ‘pool’ as a search filter, it’s somewhat disappointing, especially in the off season when the beaches are not really suitable.
• Glenn (9/5): Excellent - Everything was excellent. The rooms, the owners, the staff, breakfast, etc. Nothing major. We had 3 floors to climb up to for our room. We had two older adults that struggled with this.

The rooms are fabulous very comfortable with what ever you expect is available. The breakfast and dinner are very delicious with suitable value of money. Sure I highly recommend this hostel. The view on the river giving extra value and enjoyment. The owner offer free pick up by the boat to the beach. This hotel is perfect. Every thing is perfect

From the warm welcome upon arrival to the impeccable service throughout my stay, every moment felt like home away from home. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the exceptional food prepared at their restaurant. Each dish was a delightful blend of flavors, showcasing the local cuisine with a touch of family tradition. Dining with them was not just a meal but an experience to cherish. Moreover, I deeply appreciate their assistance in organizing activities around the area. The boat ride they arranged was a highlight of my trip, allowing me to explore the stunning surroundings and soak in the natural beauty of the region.. There is nothing I didn't like to mention. It was a fabulous experience for us. We enjoyed the comfortable beds and the spacious rooms.
• Kurt (9/5): Great place! - Great hospitality. Location is good, facing the water, in a quiet area close to the main street. Wonderful breakfast, with fruit, yogurt, eggs, bread, juice and coffee/ tea. We also had dinner there one of the nights - great fried noodles; best dinner in Sri Lanka. The host is very welcoming, and helps out with whatever you need, from water sport to excursions and renting a scooter. WiFi was far from great unfortunately - everything else was above expectations
• Shameema (10/5): Truly loved the experience and all facilities - It had great service, good food, the hotel arranged all activities if you wanted in a wide variety, the room was amazing with the view and the owners overall were great people to be with. There wasn't much to dislike.
