Guest Reviews
- Lyndsey Matthews (7/5): Our stay - Excellent position to town, & nice view. Insufficient staff to deal with bar duties. Inexperienced staff dealing with customers.
- Jed (5/5): Disappointing. - Handicapped bathroom was nice. No ac, no screens in windows, bugs in room at night, able to be seen in bathroom shower and on toilet from open windows at ground level. Car parked less then a meter from open window. Not the experience expected for the price.
- Mark (7/5): I would recommend this hotel if going see star gazing easy to get to - The location was really nice and room clean and tidy Staff ok but not warming as would like food was ok but very basic
- Rafael (10/5): -
- Mark (9/5): -
- Mark (10/5): Wonderful stay - Staff excellent, food and service spot on. The lamb kebab wasn’t cooked through and really should have been knocked off bill. Otherwise all the other meals were great. Drinks a little expensive
- Jayne (9/5): -
- Nancy LaVerne (10/5): The hotel was charming, the food was great and the staff were wonderful - we enjoyed our stay! - Breakfast server was a wonderful funny lady who we all enjoyed talking to - she had a great sense of humor!! having to pack our suitcases up the stairs....but it wasn't the end of the world
- brian (10/5): Great base for exploring the Brexons and Gospel pass - Visited while on a motorcycle tour of south Wales and Brecons. Great location and loads of parking. Very nicely decorated and staff very friendly . Sue at breakfast was an absolute star. Great asset to the company. Nothing
- John Rickatson (8/5): Pleasant Brecon stay - Lovely clean room, good service, food. Brecon is a little bit run down but that's not the fault if the hotel
- Clive (10/5): Lovely hotel a shame about car parking spaces as there not enough of them X - Lovely Location Parking
- Greg (6/5): Nice hotel, would stay here again but not in room 111. - Check in staff very friendly and helpful Machinery noise at night all night prevented us from sleeping
- Nigel (9/5): - The hotel was superbly located and a lot bigger than I thought it would be.....very clean and the staff were great! The parking is a bit tricky!
- Lesley (10/5): An unexpected gem of a hotel. - Staff efficiency and friendliness. Decor. Comfortable room. Good breakfast. Location. Thee was nothing we didn’t like and we intend to stay there on our next visit to the area.
- Rob (9/5): -
- Lisa (9/5): Lovely stay in a beautiful hotel - Receptionist (Lisa) was brilliantly and very helpful, the location is stunning, the food was good and the rooms were beautifully decorated Nothing we didn’t like, I would just say some of the bar staff seemed a little inexperienced and it wasn’t always easy to communicate our food and drink orders.
- Margaret (9/5): Enjoyed our stay and would stay there again if in that part of country.try - Food and decor was excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. The bathroom window needed attention. One of the mattresses wasn't as comfortable as would have liked.
- Ceri (10/5): Excellent 20/10 - Excellent best hotel ever Staff room excellent definely return
- Simone (10/5): -
- Jacqueline (8/5): We would definitely book again. - Excellent location with very good facilities. Very comfortable beds and good food. Staff very welcoming. Plumbing was a bit noisy and toilet didn’t flush very well. Not much room for suitcase and clothes.
- Christopher (8/5): Nice Hotel, good location and excellent food, but room was disappointing. - Breakfast and Dinner.
Nice dinning room and comfortable lounge area. Bed was too hard, like sleeping on a plank (room 207), which for a so called superior room was disappointing.
Couldn't stand under shower as the slopping roof didn't allow for it.
Weird curtains that never covered the window so light from the external flood lights bled into the room and disturbed our sleep.
Wine costs were way too high.
- Ken (9/5): Great location and comfortable rooms. - Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and tidy and comfortable. Great location. Would definitely stay here again. Car parking, very difficult.
- Theodore (7/5): Historical hotel with nice rooms and good food - The castle of Brecon hotel is historically magical. We felt like our room was part of the castle with the modern amenities.
The location of this property was excellent. It was easy to drive to the hotel. During the day we were able to easily access the hotel by local walking paths. Although parking was limited we did not have any problems finding a parking place out front. 1. The front desk team on arrival was excellent. The front desk team after hours and during the day were largely unavailable (we had to stop back multiple times to an empty front desk and finally sent an email to the hotel to ask a question).
2. Housekeeping was substandard. Our room was not serviced the first day and the housekeeping team only made the bed, exchanged bath towels and serviced the kitchen the second day.
- Graham (8/5): Lovely hotel near the centre of town - Excellent breakfast. Dog friendly Check in. Only one attendant at check in and she was on the phone for about 20 minutes and made no attempt to make eye contact with me
- Gareth (8/5): Lovely for a short stay. - Lovely hotel with beautiful, tasteful decor. Plenty of comfortable areas to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. We were not aware that there was no lift in the hotel and were not asked if we needed a ground/first floor room. The double bed was actually two single bed bases bolted together so there was a ridge in the middle - very uncomfortable.
- Keith (8/5): -
- Stanley (9/5): -
- Dominique (10/5): Nice stay in beautiful setting - Newly refurbished. In a beautiful setting. Nice room and bathroom. Nespresso coffee machine and tea making facilities in the room. All good.
- Emma and Andy (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout. The room was well appointed and fabulously clean.
Great bar and restaurant, lovely garden and good location - just a few minutes walk to town and a good base for exploring the surrounding area.
- Justin (7/5): -
- Philip (10/5): -
- Jackie (10/5): A perfect venue for a stay in Brecon. - The superior double room was beautiful, with small kitchen and a sitting room. The bed was very comfortable.
The location was perfect. There wasn’t anything we disliked.
- Mike (10/5): -
- Tom (9/5): -
- Dawn (10/5): - Great place to stay very central to town
- Michelle (10/5): -
- O'Hare (9/5): -
- Emily (9/5): - Beautiful building, comfortable rooms and a lovely location.
- Gary (10/5): - Everything, the hotel, staff, room, food and drink Nothing of note
- David (9/5): Here to stay whilst on a trip to walk Pen Y Fan - The bedroom was very well appointed and comfortable, with a decent sized bed and shower.
It also came with a Nespresso machine and a Roberts DAB radio that were highly appreciated bonuses, plus the breakfasts were of a really high standard and well presented. The full Welsh breakfast set me up very nicely for the hike to Pen Y Fan, plus the Caerphilly Rarebit Crumpets with Bacon were just great and cooked wonderfully. There was clearly nothing to dislike with this hotel, as it was maintained to a very high standard and was within a short walk from the centre of Brecon.
- Geraint (9/5): Indulgent, a lovely experience. - The furnishings, surroundings and views were superb. The accommodation was elegant, tasteful and comfortable. Would have like to have stayed for a few days so will return. The staff were friendly and approachable but weren’t attentive. This is not a complaint but is the only observation that showed a lacking compared to other places I’ve stayed.
- Alan (10/5): Exactly what we were looking for. - Large room. Separate lounge and kitchenette. Lots of bar and lounge space. A big improvement on the last time I visited. Well done. All good
- Wojciech (10/5): We absolutely loved this place, it's the perfect spot for exploring the Brecon Beacons - Stunning views, delicious breakfast, helpful staff
- Judy (8/5): -
- Gethin (10/5): -
- Mr adrian (9/5): will stay again - all good except i thought the breakfeast was included had to pay an extra £32.00 pounds as above
- Keith (10/5): -
- Coulthard (7/5): - The room and en suite were very nice and comfortable. The breakfasts were great The staff when we checked in and out were not very friendly or helpful. Nor were they very informative about their hotel or knowledgeable about their online system. The restaurant and kitchen seemed understaffed at dinner and some ingredients for dishes on the menu were missing. The portion size of my main course on one evening was tiny when other main courses had generous portions.
- Laura (6/5): Disappointed this time - Staff were very friendly Whilst friendly the some of the staff we encountered did not really seem to know what they were doing or offer good customer service. For example we ordered a peppermint tea, the server came with a breakfast tea, when I questioned it the response was 'I dont know I didnt make it'
Also when we were ordering cocktails we were told half of them on the menu couldn't be served at the hotel as that menu was for the hotel chain not that one specifically.. which just seems odd
Room was okay, its our second stay and we were in the older part of the hotel this time and you could tell... I dont think the quality of the room justifies the price and the service just wasnt there... I dont think we'll be back which is a shame as the location is great
- Toni (9/5): Would absolutely stay again - Absolutely gorgeous hotel. Stunning views. Clean and comfortable rooms. Highly recommend upgrading to the superior rooms. So worth the little bit extra. Staff really helpful and friendly. The only slight downside was the breakfast. Both mornings it was a little undercooked and on the cold side.
- Naomi (10/5): Wonderful stay! - Location of the hotel was perfect for accessing waterfall and local walks. Lovely welcome. staff super friendly especially the morning breakfast waitress, Sue.
Delicious self service continental breakfast and varied hot breakfast, ordered from the menu.
Comfortable room with shower and bath.
Great gardens to relax in after a long walk with plenty of tables and seating. Our stay wasn't long enough!!
- Niki (10/5): A very enjoyable break - great location, comfortable and relaxing. - Comfortable and relaxing with a great location Nothing
- Yuta (10/5): -
- Shezad (8/5): Great hotel in the heart of Brecon - Great hotel in the heart of Brecon. Only a 15 minute drive from becons. The room was very comfortable and clean, breakfast was more than sufficient. A great little find The place had a slightly odd smell throughout, a little diffuser wouldn’t go a miss.
- Ka Him (Sam) (10/5): -
- Jackie (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel was beautiful, staff really helpful and friendly, room 509 was excetional Nothing everything was lovely
- Martin (8/5): The staff were very welcoming and all milgled well and the atmosphere was unique - Delightful views. Solid character. Friendly bar and interesting rooms No lift. Too many heavy cushions in room. No desk in room
- Susan (10/5): - The room was very small (compact) Expensive for one night
- A (9/5): Perfect fo - Great customer service from ALL staff.
Very comfortable room and facilities.
Superb food at breakfast and through the day. Sunday dinner was fabulous. Car parking a challenge and inadequate at busier times.
- Blakeman (5/5): -
- James (9/5): Great - Location, views, room, staff Bins not emptied on arrival. Basic of essential not available. No washing up liquid available. No replacement bin liners when very small bins
- Stella (7/5): Pleasant enough - Good breakfast.
Lovely decor Room/shower room could have been cleaner.
Fan not working in shower
Every time the wind blew the window flew fully open, and you have to climb on the bed to reach to close it.
Long wait for evening meal.
- Jane (8/5): Great hotel for the Ramblers group - Location was stunning. Very comfortable bed.Lovely food. Very friendly staff. High prices of hotel rooms and drinks in the bar.
Tepid water in the shower for 2 days.
No chair ,tissues or body lotion in the bedroom .
- dalia (10/5): Lovely place with nice cozy room - Location, spacious room (mews), clean, kitchen in the room Wasn't easy to find parking at first but found one later in the evening when restaurant guests left
- Jon (9/5): Great location and venue - Location and facilities Nothing
- Cheryl (10/5): A very comfortable stay with my disabled husband and toy poodle. - Beautifully refurbished
Helpful staff
Food tasty but could have been hotter Tiny sink in Room 401
- Shirley (10/5): Enjoyed from booking in to booking out excellent service/venu - As a group we enjoyed everything about our stay NOTHING
- Susan (8/5): Good for a short break - Great location Bar prices
- Catriona (10/5): -
- Paul (7/5): -
- Martin (10/5): - Staff were lovely, venue was clean.
- Gary (7/5): A nice hotel, but food and sleep are pretty important when staying in a hotel. - Staff were generally very friendly and helpful. The decor and fixtures and fittings were better than I expected. My room was too hot, as was the bed/duvet. The walls seemed quite thin (not well sound insulated), so it was quite noisy, even though other guests were not being roudy. As a result, I didn't sleep well.
At dinner, the glass of wine I ordered didn't arrive until I was almost half way through my meal and it was chilled (it was a fairly full-bodied red and needed serving at around room temperature). I mentioned this when I was asked how my meal was and, although the gentleman apologised, I half expected him to offer me the wine complementarily. I was disappointed that he didn't as it really spoilt what was otherwise a nice meal.
