Guest Reviews
- Philip (8/5): Very convenient, modern accommodation ideal for sailors during English harbour regattas - Great place to stay being very convenient for sailing during Antigua Racing Cup. Only one drawback, when the nearby disco is booming earplugs are handy.
- Lydia (8/5): -
- Ronny (9/5): Amazing location, very clean and friendly! - The location. The people. How clean it was Personally it was perfect for me
- Charles (9/5): - Nice location. Nice hotel room. Very friendly staff. No ocean view as listed. Noisy at times
- Conor (4/5): - It has just what you need. No breakfast. The bar, which is independent, but also in the complex, was blasting music way passed midnight. The manager assured me they would be closed by 11pm but that didn't happen. I had to find alternate accommodation in the middle of the night then checked out early. It was unacceptable. If you're traveling for work I wouldn't recommend.
- Thomas (8/5): Super friendly and helpful -
- Prabha (9/5): -
- Paul (9/5): - It's location to the stores & restaurants including the harbour itself was perfect. Everything was close to hand which made our stay a pleasure Can't actually think of anything that I didn't like
- Kim (7/5): Great for what I needed for 2 nights. - Great location- staff lovely Very basic! No view
- carol (5/5): Description of room and price on Booking.com inaccurate - Cleanliness of room. Tracey our host was very good Booked and paid for a superior room but was given a standard plus room. Smaller room, no balcony or kitchenette facilitiesas as I expected. Was informed superor room was more expensive, shown the room which was as descibed in the description and photos on Booking.com but was also told it was unavailable anyway. Disappointed as I felt I was missold. The host said it was the fault of Booking.com and that she had contacted the website but had not received a response
- A J Quinn (8/5): - Convenient location between Falmouth and English Harbours. Property listing claims bar and 2 restaurants onsite, none of which are actually open/functioning. Listing should be changed to reflect this.
- Michelle (5/5): - The room was clean and the location is good. This is very basic accommodation. The decor is tired; there were holes in the curtains and no light outside my room door. There is no reception. If you are looking for a hostel in a great location, this is your place.
- Irena (8/5): Good value. Basic but comfortable amenities. Great location. - Clean, modern rooms, very centrally located, walking distance to restaurants, shops, etc., friendly staff. There is no restaurant at the property by design. It is really a room that you get. It is not a big problem as other cafes and restaurants are nearby.
- David (8/5): -
- Mila (7/5): -
- Gioia (10/5): -
- HEATHER (7/5): Had a wonderful time in English Harbor at this hotel near one of the best restaurants on island—abracadabra. - Very conveniently located. The floor really needed a deep clean.
- Olivia (8/5): -
- Fiona (3/5): It was a great trip because of my course.. met great people who took me out for lunches and dinner - It was clean.. I expected a kitchen area. Bowls to have cereal. It is pricey with limited amenities. It wasn't in walking distance to where I was doing my course... ON DECK
If you were driving then fine. The smoke alarm beep since I arrived all day all night. So annoying. Mosquitoes bit me most of the time in the room. I stayed the same aloof time in St Martin and I paid $395 for my room with a kitchen, we'll stack cupboards, bowls, pots ,baking dishes etc. Stove, huge fridge. Jacuzzi plus standing shower. Ironing board and the list goes on.
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Rhian (7/5): Good -
- Jane (8/5): - This is an affordable, comfortable option for a stay near English and Falmouth Harbors in Antigua. It works best for people who have other connections on the island like the Sailing Regatta. It is not a destination itself with the amenities of a resort.
- Sean (8/5): Very good - Good location. Very nice staff. And the lady who manages it is very helpful.
I would definitely stay here again 🙂
- Nathan (7/5): Good -
- Howard (7/5): Fine. No frills but value for money and was available - Clean and good location. Served a purpose and doesn’t pretend to be anything else. Bad knees and heavy cases didn’t fair well in the three flights of stairs. Mini bar could have had more water. 1 luke warm, small bottle between two people. We stocked up at the supermarket across the road the next day.
- Ceri (9/5): Superb - I had a very warm welcome from Tracey on reception when I arrived and all the staff I met were super friendly and helpful. Excellent location and really clean bright room with everything you need. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
- Sharon (4/5): Nice staff but way too expensive - It was clean and the staff, Tracey was very nice and friendly No closets, no kitchenette. Simple room with a bed and a small refrigerator and super expensive
- Paul (9/5): Best location and a quality crash pad in Antigua - Great shower, air on and TV. Tracy and her team were really helpful and engaging. Scrupulous cleanliness in bedroom. Proximity to all bars, restaurants and tourist attractions but not noisy. Creaky bed and, characteristic of the Island, mosquitoes (not the property’s problem)
- Omar (10/5): Excellent will return and stay again. - It was situated in the heart of English Harbour. Easy to get a taxi any where. Great food spots. The host was very helpful.
- Nina (6/5): - Nothing special about this place. The location is good if you are looking go to Nelson Dockyard.
- Alister (9/5): Superb - The room was spacious, clean and tidy It would be great if there was a pool and breakfast was served
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (8/5): perfect location, good value for money, don't book a twin room if you are expecting a true twin room - Th only reason it didn't meet my expectations is that I booked a twin room for 2 work colleagues and there wasn't a twin room, they only have double rooms. The cot provided was very uncomfortable. TWIN rooms or better cot/beds would be appreciated for work trips
- Charles (9/5): Great value for money - Great location
Clean and tidy
Basic room but everything you need
- Kole (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (8/5): - Rooms are clean with fridge and kettle. En suite bathroom large and well stocked . Proximity to Nelson’s dockyard and restaurants all 5 minute walk. Staff at Moxy’s all pleasant and accommodating. Tracy very helpful and welcoming
- Ian (5/5): It wasn’t what I expected but in the end was adequate. The service was good. - Very good location Access was like a motel. No communal facilities. The room had a hot floor from the restaurant kitchen. The room had a noisy extractor fan outside the window. An overhanging gutter from the 3-storey section had a hole on it which dripped/poured on to the roof over the bedroom. [We complained and were subsequently moved to a room without these problems]
- Kemosha (10/5): - The moxy was walkable to a lot of restaurants and other businesses. Definitely would recommend to other's visiting Antigua
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (7/5): Great location for Harbour and a smile on arrival - Staff friendly Floor not very clean
- Richard (10/5): - With no foreknowledge of the property, I was pleasantly surprised by my room. Super convenient to the Dockyard and other English Harbour Marinas.
I'll stay there again.
- Roxanne (9/5): Well located, good value accommodation run by an excellent staff - Comfy beds, excellent air con, very clean, feels safe, the rooms have fridges + tea/coffee facilities, and Tracey & her team were excellent - we felt so well looked after.
- Colin (10/5): 5 night stay - The staff were very helpful and in particular, Tracey at reception was lovely.
- Nicholas (7/5): Good -
- Gudge (9/5): Superb - The rooms were nice and the location was very convenient, most of the restaurants were nearby.
- Wayne (3/5): Lack of attention to their guests. - The only thing that I liked was the location and the air conditioning. The room wasn’t cleaned on a daily basis, even when following their instructions by putting a sign on the door. No one was around and when I called their WhatsApp numbers, it was just hold music.
- Jermaine (7/5): Good -
- Johndeklerk (8/5): Best location during Antigua Sailing Week. Good value for money. - Location is the best. You walk through Nelson's DockYard, cross the parking lot and there you are. Supermarket across the street. It's right in the middle of everything. Price is good for what it offers. No plate and cutlery in the room. But I could borrow that from the restaurant below, so no problem there.
- Roger (7/5): It was very adequate for what I needed and was good value - Good location Very basic
- Patricia (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (6/5): Great location, noisy, some bad rooms - Great location, new furniture and fittings, free Netflix above a good restaurant No Reception and no one there on arrival or departure. My room had a kitchen extractor outside it! That’s the view and the noise until 10pm and from 6am.
- Philip (8/5): A great place for independent travellers to stay. - Location was very convenient for restaurants, boats and Nelson’s Dockyard. Great for those who don’t want to stay at an all-inclusive resort. The staff went out of their way at times to be helpful.
There was also free parking just a minute or 2’s walk away. No view.
- Andrew (7/5): Good clean accommodation for sailors only needing sleeping accomodation - Walking distance to Nelson’s Dockyard and Antigua Yacht Club Reception only open 9.00am to 12.00. No views from property.
- Andrew (4/5): - Way too expensive for what you got rooms very smalll and outdated it’s an $80 dollar room for over $200 I would not have stayed there except only hotel that had a room.
- Nicholas (7/5): I arrived late and left early so really it was a bed for the night. - Convenient place, nice room Nothing
- Chris (9/5): Superb -
- Tracy (7/5): Good - The location for what I needed was perfect. The room was clean, cool. The towels were of good quality. The restaurant downstairs was very convieniant. The quality of the sheets was very poor. They were worn and after the third night they had holes in them. The soap/ shampoo in the shower room was not labelled so I had no idea what was in the dispensers.
The noise from local bars had been mentioned in other reviews, the music was loud on a Friday and Saturday night and it was when I as there too !
- Ireson (9/5): Superb - Ranata was very helpful
- Nicola (10/5): Basic accommodation, but really comfortable and clean and in an excellent location - especially if want to be close to N - Clean comfortable and excellent location
- Mark (10/5): - A great location if you want to be in the middle of restaurants & bars…grocery store & dive shop are also within two short blocks. Everything you need: good bed, shower, fridge, and Wi-Fi…nice touches like water already filled in kettle :-)
- Rachel (7/5): Good value for money. Nicely refurbished. Can be noisy - Good proximity to all the facilities at the English Harbour.
Room is newly refurbished & comfortable.
Great Walk-in shower Can be noisy. On same level as newly opened bar & close to Abracadabra, so you can hear the music
- Jessica (10/5): Amazing staff. So helpful. Perfectly clean room and everything was easy to operate. - The size of the room was fantastic. Stairs were difficult with luggage, and many crying dogs were the two main complaints. But! This is the Caribbean. There is nothing to change - the room the price and most of all the location was perfect.
- David (8/5): Very good - Very accessible to beach and restaurants. Love the ladies downstairs. The shower drain was blocked
No wash cloth.
- Hattie (7/5): Good -
- & (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adrian (8/5): Very good -
- Gabriella (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danielle (10/5): Exceptional - Staff were fantastic and friendly. Very helpful. Lovely comfortable bed and smart TV in room.
- Clive (7/5): fair accomodation but not frills - convenient location, fair value
staff responded quickly to WhatsApp. no hot water, was unclear about check-in process - on site staff rarely seen.
- Adlai (4/5): Comfortable, but providing a minimum of amenities, with no reception desk and only a phone contact. - There was no breakfast on offer. When we asked, we were directed to a couple of restaurants some minutes walk away. There was no room/bed service ad no hot water. Although apparently the hot water system broke down just before we arrived, we were informed that it would be a week before someone could come to fix it.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Will not be returning - No reception and no one was available to greet or meet us. We had to call a number. 1 room was leaking so they moved some of our group to another location and my room the shower didn’t work and bed sheets missing. A very expensive disappointing stay and ensure you use the security lockers. The location is not secure.
- Gail (2/5): appalling, and overpriced for what it is , staff pleasant - close to English harbour where to start
room not ready on arrival as staff member was working in her own , water leaking through the ceiling of the room from the room above ( staff were aware of this as the bed had been moved and a bucket placed in one of the leaking sports , causing me to slip and badly sprain/bruise knee , blood on walls ( mosquitoes? but still blood and not cleaned up ) , no privacy in shower , window opened directly onto walk way no blinds or cover anyone walking past could see in , following complaints we moved to a new room , and left after 1 night , it was noisy ( nigh club close by ) we booked in to a all inclusive resort , 3 of us for a week for £500 more ( total) giving me chance to rest my badly sprained knee
we were refunded all but the one night we stayed eventually .Staff were pleasant and helpful but I would not recommend this place
- Eugene (7/5): Good -
- Leonard (6/5): Perfectly adequate for an overnight stay while awaiting boat charter. - The Moxy is definitely a "budget" hotel. We chose it based on only place we could find accepting reservations for one night at a time. Short walk to pier and restaurants. Newly opening restaurant/bar on premises. AC worked fine. Comfortable bed. Streaming TV but no live TV like CNN. Proximity to Nelson's harbor and the Pillars hotel/restaurant. No checkin office - you need to find the proprietor on your own. Noisy neighborhood. Very friendly proprietor. Clean but "bare bones" with things like variable water pressure, dated bathroom etc.
- Michelle (9/5): Superb - great little spot, nothing fancy but the ac worked, the shower was hot, and the room had a smart tv
- Emilia (2/5): Very poor -
- Alex (6/5): Pleasant - Good location on the road between Falmouth Harbour and Nelson Dockyard/English Harbour.
Close to all the bars, restaurants and local attractions.
Supermarket across the street.
The room I stayed in was freshly decorated, nice and clean.
The room had all the basic essentials: Fridge, air-con, TV, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, towels (beach towels available on request). The check in process wasn't great. No one was at the hotel on arrival and it's not easy to contact the owner/manager when you don't have any wifi access or a phone which works in Antigua. An email or message, sent prior to arrival, explaining which room and the check in process would have been extremely helpful.
If you get a room on the right hand side of the hotel (as you look at it from the street), you'll have to deal wit the daily noise of the business next door pressure washing vehicles intermittently throughout the day. Not the hotels fault... just something to be aware of.
The pillows on the bed were quite hard (not my personal preference).
Do not expect the price to reflect the type. of hotel you would get in Europe or the US, the Caribbean. Accommodation prices in Antigua are just expensive in general.
- Adam (1/5): Bad -
- Anastasia (3/5): says hotel but it is more of an aribnb - location no reception, no breakfast, small room, very dark looking in a tiny courtyard.
- Daniele (8/5): Great location, lively surroundings, friendly staff. - Great location, lively surroundings, friendly staff.
- Ivor (8/5): Very good -
- Roberto (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heather (9/5): Superb - Great location and great price
- Matthew (2/5): - No hot water. No good wifi. Cant reach property owners. Tiny room that was smelly and dirty
- Paul (10/5): Girls stay - Good location and helpful staff
- Thomas (8/5): Reasonably Good - The Moxy was reasonably good. However, the room was quite small and there was no chair in the room. Also, there is no one on site.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Liked my stay as it was used for me to quarantine. Close to grocery store and restaurants
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cheerful and peaceful - Cheap and cheerful for thw time of season.
Clean and tidy and in good condition.
Comfortable and quiet.
- Jaime (10/5): Simple, Nice Affordable - Sweet clean and affordable right in the heart of English Harbor. Next to bars and restaurants. 5-minute walk to the Antigua Yacht Club in one direction and 5 minutes to the Dockyard in the other. The room was cold and clean. This is a no-frills operation, which is just what I needed.
- Neil (10/5): - The front desk area could not be found.
Hot water was an issue few days
My room was not cleaned on Saturday
The room is newly renovated however the mattress is uncomfortable wrapped with plastic.
The hot water cattle did not work in the room.
Need guest room amenities such as lotion shower cap and place to place personal amenities no counter space.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Unfortunately no one present at check in (or any day thereafter) to ask for things. Room was very basic for cost but great location.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I didn’t like Nothing about the Moxy hotel, the service, appearance, amenities and staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Price and location to the yacht club. Nice hot shower with good water pressure.
- Jennifer (8/5): Basic but good - Basic hotel but rooms are fine and its a great location. If you are looking for budget/no frills the Moxy is great.
Rooms have air conditioning.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Moxy's is in a brilliant location in English Harbour and a short walk from restaurants, beaches, shops and the gorgeous Georgian dockyard where Nelson was based for a time. The rooms are quiet, spacious, well appointed and very clean and comfortable. The manager and staff are kind and helpful and we were delighted with our stay here.
