• David (9/5): - Comfy bed, reasonably quiet location close to the town centre/beach/transport. Friendly host with a fresh biscuit every day. Sockets are quite low to the ground and don't give a lot of clearance to plug sockets with cables at the bottom

The owner, Jackie was very nice and helpful in providing local knowledge. The room was warm and the bed was clean and comfortable. I didn't dislike anything. The accommodation suited our needs for a short two night break.

• Friederike (7/5): Very central, clean and comfortable - It has been my 3rd stay at The Pines. The landlady is very friendly and helpful. The room is spacious, clean and the bed is very comfortable. The metro, beach, restaurants, shops are only a few steps away. This time I had very noisy neighbours.

• Tony (4/5): The guest house was ok for our trip as we were visiting family and just slept at the guest house. - Location. Quiet. Clean, comfy bed. Nice tray of tea, coffee and biscuits. Good TV. Generally outdated. Room needed a good clean, skirting boards very dirty and window needed cleaning. No lock on bathroom door. No plug in sink. Light over sink didn’t work. Bedroom needs new carpet.

• Ellis (9/5): Superb location near the sea - I loved everything about my stay so close to the sea. The accommodation was so comfortable with plenty of tea, coffee etc Clean bedroom with separate shower and sink. Everything spotless could not fault the guest house. It was great value for money and Jackie the host was lovely.

Had a shower room .but the Toilet was out side the Room .which l did not realise.when booking it . could do with a table for the other side of the bed.had to use what the kettle was standing on, so the tray that the kettle was on had to go on the floor.also the shower was not working properly.which we did report.

Quiet location in terms of outside noise and a friendly host (hopefully the storm didn't cause any damage to her flowers). Power sockets a bit hard to reach due to being low down.

• Chrissi (8/5): Convenience snd comfort - Everything worked well - shower, good-sized tv - and was very comfortable. Generous refreshment tray including kitkats! Five minutes from beach meant it was easy to come back to base during the day and relax.. Ten minutes from town so an easy walk for eating out, cinema etc. Slept well too. Would definitely return. The decor was not particularly modern but it is a comfortable traditional guest house.
• Andriejus71 (5/5): Passable - The hotel is located in a good location near the beach and the city center. An aging hotel with no innovations, everything is primitive. The door locks stick, the soundproofing is bad, the room has an unpleasant smell and a lot of dust.

My room was very comfortable and cozy with everything thought out that you'd need for your stay. Bathroom right next door - perfect. Best hotel mattress I'd slept on too. Quiet neighborhood and excellent location to the beach and all amenities just a couple of minutes walk. A very peaceful stay and I'd highly recommend

The room and bathroom was very clean with plenty of towels. The bed was cosy and comfortable. The Pines is located in a quiet street - even on weekends - and we slept very well. The location of the guesthouse couldn't be better. It's only a few minutes by foot from the metro station and the sea promende, right in the heart of Whitley Bay. Shops and plenty of cafes and restaurants are near by. Free wifi. So we really liked our stay at "The Pines". Although we had our own en-suite shower room (very clean!) the toilet was outside the room in the hallway. No major problem for us but might be an issue for some people.
