Guest Reviews
- Helen (10/5): Deluxe double - Easy check in and check out. Lovely room with lots of extras. Had a very pleasant and relaxing stay. Very quiet and comfortable sleep. N/A
- Ian (8/5): - Clean. Good food. No real ale
- Lynette (10/5): Good location. Excellent evening meal. - Loved the breakfast in our room. Very generous.
- Sharon (10/5): -
- Gail (8/5): -
- jimanderin (8/5): A nice stay, convenient for walking St Cuthbert’s Way - Comfortable and quiet room. Breakfast was a pre-prepared plate of food & drinks left in our fridge. This suited us fine. A proper table to eat at would have been nice.
- Joanna (10/5): A definate yes for place to stay in Jedburgh - Well run small hotel. Excellent food in evening with amazing breakfast basket in bedroom fridge for morning.
- Rutter (10/5): - Room is comfortable and nicely decorated ,staff are very friendly and food was exceptional! Always lovely.
- Maxine (10/5): -
- Alan (9/5): Great location in a charming town. Great place to stop on the way to the Highlands - Nice breakfast. Staff very helpful. Three course dinner was excellent value TV didn’t work but didn’t detract from a lovely stay
- Andrew (10/5): Perfect location in a small Scottish town - Great location, very clean and comfortable room with excellent facilities. Staff were very friendly and helpful Nothing
- Lynda (8/5): Useful place to stay with good restaurant - Pleasant room, good hot shower, good food in the restaurant. Breakfast was out of a fridge in the clost in the room, not very inspired.
- Thomas (10/5): Perfect. - Clean and comfortable room, easy and very satisfying breakfast option. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Nothing.
- Dominyka (10/5): A nice stay - lovely atmosphere at an affordable price, dog friendly! - Great location, it was close to where I needed to be. It's dog friendly, which was important to us. Lovely breakfast provided and the staff were lovely. Easy check in/check out and parked easily outside of the property. We were very keen to try their food but unfortunately the kitchen shut as soon as we arrived as it was off season. But nevertheless it was not an issue - the owner and the staff gave us plenty of recommendations!
- Ann (8/5): -
- Wilma (7/5): Nice but could add a lot of value to this place especially the cost it was. - The room and property was well presented The bed mattress was way too soft and headboard banged if you moved.
Sorry but the towels quality for the money we paid was terrible so thin… please replace.
Not to be offered coffee as well as tea ? Can’t understand also the brekky would have been more beneficial to have skimmed milk not full cream had to buy that …?
The food was tasty but would rather have it in dinning room downstairs …? Shame.
- Paula (9/5): Comfortable hotel with amazing restaurant - Lovely old building dressed up fancy inside, with a really fabulous restaurant. Shout out to the chef who is cooking up magic in the kitchen and plating it up sooo beautifully. Honestly one of the best meals we have had anywhere in the world. The waiting staff were excellent too. I like the idea of croissants, yoghurts, granola and juice in the room for a simple breakfast and get going, but the cheese and salami on the same plate under cling film was icky as the pain au chocolate and croissant smelt and tasted of salami.
- Eva (7/5): Fantastic on-site dinner - We had dinner at the restaurant and it was one of the best meals we ever had. The atmostphere and the music is great and the staff are friendly. Shout out to the chef.
The room and the bathroom is nice and clean, with proper heating.
The teacake was a lovely touch. Considering they have an amazing restaurant in the building, we were expecting some lovely breakfast. Instead there is a fridge in your room and you get a plate with some days old pastries and charcuterie, and milk and juice in open bottles.... very disappointing and not hygienic... They should state that the breakfast included is cold packed. (to be fair they state on the website that you can enjoy the breakfast in the room, and I should have read the reviews...)
Our room was next to the main road, the window should be soundproofed IMO.
The mattress was slim and not the right fit for the bed.
- Stephen (9/5): -
- Susan (10/5): - Beautifully decorated. Large room with a balcony, which was an added bonus. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nothing!
- John (8/5): - Excellent location. Comfortable beds. Breakfast 'hamper' was good but a little awkward to eat in the room, which didn't have a proper table..
- Christine (7/5): -
- Moira (7/5): Quite nice .. value for money was poor and a very poor attempt at a continental breakfast breakfast - Situation Over priced and breakfast was continental only ( not great if you are planning a full days hiking the next day ) and of poor quality ( cheap stale croissants that had been stored in the fridge ) which added to the feel of being hugely overpriced for what it was .
- Sue (9/5): Value for money - Lovely and comfortable room. Bathrobes a lovely touch. Breakfast was left in the room in the fridge. Lots of choice from cereal to cheese and meats etc.
Evening meal was good value and extremely tasty. Would recommend It was a Wednesday and early march. Not much open and pub quiet. No real issues
- Isabella (8/5): On the whole our stay was very good. The continental breakfast was a disappointment especially as I don’t eat cheese or - It’s central location. Staff accommodating. Decor in trend Not having a cooked breakfast. Think the fact that it is continental breakfast should have been made known
- Kevin (8/5): Great property excellent location friendly staff good sized clean rooms well equipped the only niggle is not being able - Great location good sized rooms very clean Shame nowhere to sit for breakfast
- Trish (7/5): - Very comfy bed Couldn't figure out how to turn the shower on
- martin (10/5): Lovely one night stay on the way to Edinburgh airport room was fantastic and food on the night was amazing - Room was lovely had a balcony/seating area Nothing
- Timothy (9/5): ACE - EXCELLANT NOTHING
- barry (8/5): -
- Caroline (8/5): Enjoyed the stay, beds were comfy, good location for exploring the Borders - Comfy rooms available during the festive period No option for cooked breakfast. Card machine not working
- Rutter (10/5): - Really lovely staff - room was comfortable and warm and the food was delicious. Will definitely be staying again.
- Yeardley (5/5): Jedburgh one night - Spacious bedroom and balcony Breakfast tray was poor value. Shaving socket didn't work.
- Cara (5/5): Disappointing awful breakfast would not return - Location
Restaurant & bar
Room ok Checkin at bar so had to wait for bar staff to serve drinks before we could be checked in.
No staff presence in morning and breakfast in room was a total let down.
Maintenance of room not great. Lots of snagging to be done.
Over priced in view of above points and parking on road.
- barry (10/5): Great place with great and friendly staff would recommend. -
- Stewart (7/5): Good, clean and comfortable. - Disappointed that no cooked breakfast on offer. Only cold in fridge in room. Though it was good and plentiful. Could not get Television to function.
- STEVEN (10/5): - Pleasant country hotel.
Good size room and very accommodating staff
- Christina (8/5): Great place for an overnight stay especially if you want a quick getaway in the morning. - Room was very clean. Staff in the Bar were friendly. The evening meal was extremely good, tasty, quality and value for money 😀 Breakfast in the room. The cold meat and cheese platter was good but cold croissants are a bit too chewy.
- Lor Tur (8/5): It was nice :) - I did like
The bed in the room.
The decor in the room.
I liked the breakfast that they offer which is a continental breakfast in the fridge in your room which was a selection of pastry , meats and cheese then juice and cereal plus milk! I did not like
The size of the tv in the room.
The tea and coffee table was in a very awkward position in the room so it may be a faf!
I did not like the LACK OF BUTTER in the breakfast that was offered.
- Charlotte (3/5): A place to rest our head but won’t be retuning. - The location and the room had a balcony. Breakfast was served in the room as a continental breakfast which wasn’t made clear before booking.
The room and bathroom had cobwebs.
The mattress was uncomfortable and turned out to be two on top of one another.
The towels were tiny.
The shower could only be switched in from outside the bathroom.
- wayne (8/5): Would visit again - Welcome was very good, room was clean and tidy and had everything required. I didn't eat in the restaurant and I had eaten on the journey. Breakfast was continental and left in the fridge in the room - basic but adequate enough. Very conveniently located for what I wanted. This is a converted building on the High St, so don't expect high end modern hotel decor etc, and expect the odd banging door and a bit of street noise, but don't let that put you off.
- Tricia (10/5): -
- catrina (8/5): Very comfortable overnight stay. - Very clean and nicely decorated. Staff very friendly
- Glenn (9/5): Relaxed atmosphere with lovely food - Great location nice food menu and wine. Staff were very helpful and nothing was a bother. Limited parking
- Janet (7/5): Good location. Good for dinner. - Location good. Staff friendly. Dinner on the evening was excellent xcellemt. Breakfast was left in a fridge in the room and was disappointing. If we'd known this, we would have booked without breakfast.
- Caroline (8/5): Overall good value for money. Thank you :) - A great stop off base on our drive back from Scotland to Lincs. Parked right outside.
Alistair and Kaitlin were so welcoming and the meal we had in the evening was wonderful - exceptional value for money too!
Our room was really comfy and we welcomed the continental breakfast, yoghurts etc. Not a croissant/pan au chocolat fan normally but it worked and we left feeling full in the morning and it was actually great to be able to eat when we got up rather than wait to eat in the bar. Nothing negative to report. Totally worked for what we needed and would use again.
- Jeff (10/5): - Very comfortable and clean hotel in a great location. I’d be happy to stay here again.
- Brian (10/5): - The host was great!
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional food, comfort, friendliness and joy - The front of house staff were most welcoming and the food at their restaurant was to die for. The Isle of Bute gin and tonic was exceptionally fine, aromatic and delicious. Their seafood pasta was wonderful, cooked to perfection and the mussels were fresh, tender and firm. Nothing was needed to improve things as the cook, wait staff and venue was better than I had dreamed of. Jedburgh was an unexpected joy which gave us a real sense of being part of history. Mary Queen of Scots knew a thing or two about this place. It is a must see spot and the best value in town was at this place.
- Dianne (10/5): A lovely stopover - The hotel/ bar was welcoming from the minute we arrived, which was much later than intended. Our room was warm and beautifully furnished. Everything we needed was there. Breakfast was prepared in our room ready for us. Nothing to dislike . Unhappy we didn't arrive early enough to try the food. Definitely next time
- Fiona (9/5): Almost perfect - Friendly welcome, lovely rooms, peaceful location, easy parking, and great to have restaurant just downstairs.
Love the extra balcony with the room.
Very clean bright, well laid out rooms, and I enjoyed the fridge hamper breakfast process in the morning as well as the self checkout.
Good choice and quality of food.
Very accommodating for my vegan friend. The king size bed mattress was quite soft which made it feel a bit wobbly but I still slept well.
Being extremely picky, I don't think croissants and pastries benefit from refrigeration. They are best served warm. I wonder if there's something else to include in a breakfast hamper that would be better suited to refrigeration?
- Nichola (10/5): A great hotel to explore Jedburgh - Wonderful location - quiet at night- really nice room - great dining! Nothing
- david (9/5): - We enjoyed a very good 3 coures meal excellent quality beds were very comfortable.staff were very attentive. Not a lot to dislike.
- Robert (8/5): -
- Gwen (9/5): -
- Aaron (8/5): -
- Mark (10/5): -
- Jordan (10/5): -
- chris (10/5): - Great little place to stay with a super comfortable bed. Nice size room with good amenities and a nice little balcony for an evening drink. Or there's a nice pub with good food just downstairs. If you're a light sleeper, the room we were in isn't the best option though as the door to the pub is right below the bed. But we slept great regardless. Definitely worth the money for a nice convenient stay.
- Edward (10/5): Great place to stay in Jedburgh - Spacious room with large bed. Somewhat unusual breakfast option, continental breakfast left in a fridge in the room, but it worked for me. Excellent location for picking up the Abbeys Way and St Cuthbert's Way WiFi kept failing, don't know if that was the weather
- Debra (8/5): Really good highly recommend as the restaurant bar was lovely the evening before and good blue at £22 for 3 courses - Lovely place , good location nice and quiet and clean with comfy bed The breakfast was a bit poor , cold continental and nowhere to sit to eat it .. we would have happily paid for a cooked breakfast !
- MICHAEL (5/5): Very disappointing! - Clean and adequate room. No very inspiring though. Booked restaurant and wasn’t told until 4pm that closed for some reason not given.
Breakfast in the fridge not particularly appetising and pastries were in the fridge as well. No means to get a good cup of coffee since only have instant pouches.
Booked this because it had a good restaurant write up.
- Leanne (10/5): - Staff very welcoming and friendly
Room spotless, very comfortable bed
Continental breakfast very nice.
Added bonus of balcony was great
Myself and my daughter enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend.
- David (10/5): -
- Graham (10/5): A lovely one night stay in Jedburgh - Stayed at the Capon while attending a wedding nearby. Requested an early check in to get changed and drop bags which the hotel happily accommodated. Room was fantastic with a very comfy bed, fridge and was lucky enough to get the room with a small balcony which was perfect to have the continental breakfast which was placed in the fridge while out.
Short walk to the town square and a little further is the magnificent Abbey ruins and castle jail if you have time.
The young lady who'd checked us in early was very friendly and accommodating
- alessandra (10/5): Una notte a Jedburgh - Camera molto carina, colazione buona! Ottimo inizio per la nostra vacanza.
- Rodney (8/5): Beautifully decorated room with helpful staff, very accessible. - Beautifully decorated room with balcony, spacious, great crockery, wonderful breakfast, helpful staff, parking outside property, French doors allow for beautiful breezes on a warm night, fridge in room is excellent with prepared cold drinks. Bed needs attention, because of floor, slopes to the right, needs to be turned around with headboard under mirror to alleviate this. Otherwise prop the bed on one side to level it. This would then make for a more comfortable stay.
- Magdalena (6/5): No breakfast, even if it has been paid. - Very clean, cosy room. The breakfast is in the room from the fridge. Cereals with milk, 2 croissants, 2 chocolate pastries + 2 triangles of cheese. Nobody asked about food allergies, which was crucial- I have lactose and gluten intolerance. So, my choice was to starve or go to the coffee shop for breakfast.
The ironing board was a disaster- the cover fell out. It demands the prestidigitation skills to iron anything.
- Mike (10/5): -
- Alison (9/5): Excellent, we would definitely stay again if we visited Jedburgh - Room and location was perfect, we also ate in the restaurant which served delicious high quality food at a reasonable price. we were not too keen on the breakfast, which was just cereal and a couple of pastries left overnight in the fridge and nowhere really to eat them in the room other than on the bed. I would have preferred maybe a discount voucher to use at a local cafe offering breakfast in Jedburgh.
- Leigh (8/5): - Very clean. Great food in the restaurant. No parking
- Rab (9/5): - They were attentive & very helpful, nice quiet area plenty to do
- Marilyn (9/5): We enjoyed our visit and would return if in the area - Close to the town centre.
Evening meal had an imaginative menu, breakfast, although different was most enjoyable. Nothing
- Anthony (8/5): I had a lovely stay. Will stay again for sure. - Lovely staff. Nice building. Nice room The WiFi wouldn’t connect probably due to the room location in relation to the router. Was hoping that my room would have a bath
- deborah (10/5): - Great room, excellent breakfast
- Katharine (10/5): Highly recommend - What a gorgeous little hotel. Staff were very good, felt like very professional service. Lovely comfortable bedroom, excellent food at dinner service and very reasonable. Breakfast was continental , left in the grudge in your room, and was delicious
- Karl (8/5): -
- Carla (7/5): -
- David Wilfred (8/5): - Location ideal for stop overe on way to Scotland would use again
- Nigel (5/5): Ok for anime night stop, room not good, breakfast awful. - On route for a stop over The breakfast was in the room day of our arrival for the next morning - just not good.
- Des (8/5): Great staff / owners - Great check in, very helpful would stay again
- Lisa (8/5): - We enjoyed our staff except that there was no working wifi available.
- Bridget (10/5): -
- Ruth (10/5): - Clean. Lovely facilities. Allowed us to check in early and collect keys as we were attending an event which didn't finish until after the hotel kicked up for the night. Continental breakfast had great selection. Nothing.
- Nickerson (9/5): - Wonderful stay
- Adam (9/5): Great stay, nice place to stay. - Clean and tidy, nice room with a nice clean bathroom. Perfect for a short stay in the centre of Jedburgh. Breakfast was in the fridge in the room which was fine, however butter would have made it perfect.
- Robert (10/5): - It was all nice room staff evening meal Wasn't keen on the breakfast
- michael (8/5): - Close to town.good meal. Wifi diid not work in room.tv difficult to work
- Christine (9/5): - The location is excellent with lots of free parking nearby.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
It is very dog friendly and very comfortable.
The food is excellent and great value .
- David (6/5): - Staff very friendly and efficient. Room was fine. Food in the inhouse restaurant was somewhat underwhelming.
- Fiona (6/5): Stay overnight in Jedburgh - Friendly staff.
Clean.
Easy to check in/out.
Flexible - check in times could be chosen, gave us a fan from the bar on a very hot night. Sink in kitchenette of flat was not working and we were not informed.
Kitchenette poorly stocked (the flat seems to be geared towards families but wouldn't have enough crockery etc for a family).
There is no option to have breakfast in the restaurant - continental breakfast in your room fridge is the only option.
Sofa bed not particularly comfortable.
- Michael (8/5): -
- Mark (9/5): - Location was perfect, breakfast pack and fridge in room was a pleasant surprise
- Marc Wheeldon (10/5): Fablulous! - Great location, clean, great room and helpful staff I liked everything
- Anthony (9/5): - Welcoming staff in a great location.
- Pamela (4/5): Disappointing. I sent a msg to the hotel through Booking.com and they didn’t even bother replying. - I was a woman on my own, the tv did not work for long in the room.
I did go down to reception which was the hotel bar & report it & was advised someone wud come up. No-one did do i rang the hotel on their outside line to report again & someone came up & for the tv on again, it only lasted minutes & went off again.
The description of the room i thought i wud hav a balcony with furniture, it was an ordinary window.
- Nakita (10/5): Would definitely come back. - Great value for money.
Very dog friendly.
Lovely breakfast in fridge.
- Tracey (10/5): Had a great time away with good friends in a lovely hotel - Lovely hotel. Food was really nice and great value for money. Staff were very attentive.
- Tim (7/5): We liked this place & enjoyed nice meal with comfortable bed. - Nice atmosphere, nice room & good menu No coffee machine in the room & no off road parking
