- Toni (10/5): Absolutely fabulous, a real beauty set in incredible gardens. Worth the visit, even in winter. - We adored everything about this property. It is truly exceptional as is the staff, gardens and breakfast.
- Ken (10/5): Stay here. - The gardens are amazing. the staff is great. Breakfast was very good. But the gardens are well worth the staff. The owner has channeled Monet. I got some amazing pictures I would share if I wasn’t in an airplane ready to take off Nothing

- Jayne (10/5): Imagine staying in the middle of a botanical garden! - You are in a lovely chateau encircled by an impressively beautiful botanical garden, to which you have unlimited access at all hours. The room was huge, and the bed most comfy. Doesn’t get better than that! Breakfast was delicious. Nothing
- Preisser (10/5): -
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional nature and culture experience - Exceptional castle experience in the middle of botanical garden. Very unique place. Perfect for elderly family vacation. The facilities are clean and well preserved in the style of a castle of the last century. The staff is very friendly. Great breakfast from the products from the local surrounding farms. If you want to try the good local kitchen for the dinner - there is a great restaurant just at the entrance to the botanical garden and teachable by foot from the hotel facility.
- Luca (9/5): -
- Christine (9/5): Superb -
- Judy (10/5): Our golden wedding anniversary celebrated in beautiful surroundings with lovely helpful staff! - A beautiful property in fabulous grounds with wonderful staff who make guests very welcome! Delicious breakfast too! No shower curtain so we had a wet bathroom floor!
- Debbie (9/5): Very restful stay in beautiful surroundings - Lovely old chateau in beautiful grounds with excellent staff.
- Maria (8/5): Nice and peaceful - Location in the botanic parc, big room No restaurant for meals
- Umphrey (9/5): Very nice - Very nice and friendly staff Bed was so low to ground
- Kevin (10/5): Beautiful gardens highlighted with a stay in the chateau! - Located within the Parc Botanique!
- Marina (10/5): Exceptional - Fabulous park
Wonderful rooms with a ton of character
Good breakfast very elegantly served Wifi is bad
- Marta (10/5): Botanical Gardens for Teo - One of the perks of staying at the Chateau is access to the botanical gardens. We had private access to the botanical gardens after hours. 3 hours to roam and wind through the paths.
Staff, beyond helpful.
We were there on a night the restaurant was closed. They made sure we had everything we needed to prepare a light meal.
- Tobias (10/5): worth the journey! - Not very often in the days of hyperbolic Tripadvisors &c. you actually come to a place which exceeds your expectations. This was certainly the case at Château de la Foltière. The main attraction is of course the magnificent Jardin Botanique de Haute Bretagne, but the guest rooms in the château which sits in the centre of it are almost as exceptional as the surrounding park. Simple but elegant & the most charming welcome, breakfast you could wish for. A special bonus (for me) was the absence of that huge black television screen which seems to be a 'conditio sine qua non' in hotel rooms these days! maybe the weather... ;-) !
- Colyer (10/5): A charming mix of Chateau and garden. - This is a gem and that is why we have stayed there three times and hope to do so again. The Chateau is in the centre of a remarkable and exceptionally beautiful garden. The spacious five guest rooms are all on the first floor and there is a lift. Our suite consisted of a large Bedroom with old fashioned wardrobe plus desk and chairs. Tea and coffee making items are present. The large on-suite bathroom had an excellent shower. The only fault I noted was the lack of a full curtain [There were no prying eyes for kilometres]. Breakfast is in the dining room on the ground floor and is beautifully presented. Evening meals can be arranged with the excellent restaurant at the garden centre entrance. When the public have left the gardens one has the park to oneself. The charming young lady who administers the venue is helpful and friendly with much better English than our French. There is a tearoom on the terrace open when the public are admitted. Nothing to detract from a beautiful venue
- Pierre (9/5): Chateau within great gardens. - The chateau is located inside grand gardens. As a guest you can walk about the gardens at will. The chateau is elegant and the rooms are very large with a view over the gardens. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Do go for the breakfast it is well appointed. Overall it was as expected and better.
- John (8/5): An excellent B&B in the centre of 60 acres of superb gardens. - This property describes itself as a B&B (Chambre de Hotes in French) but it is much more than that. We had a large room and modern bathroom. The bed was comfortable and bedroom furniture in keeping with the 19th century style of the building. The slight sense of faded elegance only enhanced the whole experience. The place is apparently run by only one or two ladies but they were unfailingly friendly and helpful. The real delight is the location in the centre of a 60 acre botanical garden. Chateau guests have free access all day to the gardens, so we were able to walk round the gardens before public opening time and have the whole garden to ourselves. We will return someday, probably at a different time of year to see the garden in a different season. Only minor niggles, like a difficulty working out how to get the shower thermostat just as we wanted it.
- Jo (10/5): We had a wonderful stay at the Chateau. Highly recommend! - Amazing breakfast !
- Martha (8/5): Pleasant stay, like going back in time - Friendly staff, personalised service. Rooms smell like old furniture. Although the experience is a very pleasant one overall, the accomodation is too pricey.
- Martha (9/5): Serene stay, lovely botanical park - Lovely surroundings, calm, like going back in time 100 years. Closets in the rooms are old and preserve a smell of old times and experiences.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - Great room, beautiful setting.
- Andrew (10/5): I felt as though we had discovered a real treasure that we can't wait to revisit. - Corinne was a super efficient and friendly host. The room, the Chateau and the wonderful entrancing gardens were simply wonderful. Nothing
- Jean-charles (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anastasia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Malcolm (10/5): Exceptional Chateau and gardens well worth a stay or visit - Fantastic garden well tended, view from room across the garden is exceptional. The peace and tranquility of the chateau is great when all the visitors have gone and one is home alone. Nothing all was great
- Percic (10/5): I wanted to feel like French royalty and I got it here. - The themed decorating made us feel like 19th century royalty, the room was spacious and beautifully decorated. Everything was spotless. The gardens are magnificent breakfast delicious, and staff outstanding. nothing needs changed.
- Nigel (7/5): Good -
- Brian (10/5): Just perfect. - The chateau is set in an unbelievably beautiful botanic park. This is landscaping on an epic scale, perhaps the best we have seen. Relaxing and calm. Welcoming, informal staff. Super breakfast. Can’t think of anything.
- Colin (8/5): Love this place because of the natural beauty in the park in which it is situated. Second visit. - The botanical gardens are just amazing and the main draw for staying here. The staff are outstanding and the breakfast was lovely! Pillows on the beds were not soft and plushy.
- Barry (10/5): An absolute antidote to the normal sort of place one goes to get away from it all! - This unique destination is a place to relax in superb surroundings, with a huge park to explore, charming people and a great restaurant. It deserves to be better known, and is a tribute to Alain Juono, who brought it back from the dead and transformed it into a one of the nicest places to visit in this part of Brittany. Nothing
- Teddington (9/5): Superb - Beautiful authentic chateaux set within amazing botanical gardens (free access during stay). Superb breakfast - lovely china, napkins, glassware....
- Timothy (9/5): Superb - Lovely location. Having the park to ourselves (and other guests in the evening. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Very quiet night! Difficult to find!
- Amalia (10/5): Exceptional - The garden is very beautiful, the place is quiet and the rooms are lovely. A really nice place to stay.
- Ross (7/5): Grand, beautiful location, but in need of some TLC. - Beautiful location, friendly staff, great breakfast. Needs some tlc
- David (10/5): An oasis of calm in a busy world. - Excellent hospitality.
The gardens.
Tranquility
- Svetlana (8/5): Good. - Nice and very helpful stuff. Beautiful garden view. No airconditioner.
- David (10/5): Beatiful Chateau and gardens with friendly staff - We had stayed here 4 years ago and as we would be travelling nearby we wanted to stay there again. The botanic garden is superb. Lunch at the garden centre restaurant and they agreed to deliver evening meals to chateau- with staff willing to reheat it. Large bedroom with on suite shower. Very quiet night. Breakfast well presented. Very helpful staff. Further advantage being opportunity to go around the extensive gardens before it got busy. We will stay there again if opportunity arises.
- Mayra (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Everybody went the extra mile to make our stay warm and welcoming. - Catered for lactose intolerance, excellent attention to detail at breakfast. Staff were charming and paid a great deal of attention to detail. More than we expected, with a very warm welcome on arrival.
- Duc (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rob (10/5): Amazing experience stay - stop here! It WILL be one of your highlights. - Everything from the minute we arrived. Staff were amazingly friendly, relaxed (even though BUSY) and helpful. Amazing gardens are a dream for so many reasons. Great terrace for drinks and an amazing breakfast too.. ohh nearly forgot - opulent large rooms with high ceilings and great bathrooms! Bargain for what you get.. great value! Nothing - if you complain here you need to give yourself a good talking to and a day off!
- John (10/5): Would return without hesitation. - A lovely house in a beautiful, quiet location with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. A little disappointed that their website didn’t make it clear that it was necessary to book an evening meal in advance.
- Rachel (10/5): a joyful experience - stunningly beautiful
- Haifa (6/5): Pleasant - Location Very old not maintened
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gretchen (9/5): Superb - Beautiful room, very spacious and clean. Great breakfast and beautiful gardens
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional location, facilities and hospitality - Breakfast was exceptional. Gorgeous local food. Beautifully laid out.
The setting in the Botanical Gardens was extraordinary and special. we could walk out into the gardens throughout our stay morning and evening - even when they were closed to the public.
Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming - in particular Corrine who was on duty during our stay. Nothing
- Ionut (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional - The gardens and the room were exceptional.
It was wonderful to enjoy such a beautiful château and the botanical grounds which we’re absolutely a work of brilliance and art .
We were so welcomed by Corrine and looked after so well .
We truly enjoyed our picnic dinner in the garden supplied by the local restaurant.
We felt very privileged to enjoy this beautiful château and it’s botanical masterpiece . Nothing.
- Anthony (10/5): This is a unique location, and provided a memorable stay for our family (again) - The location of this hotel is truly exceptional. It is within a Horticultural Park of Haut Bretagne, which makes it unique.
The friendliness of the staff and the quality / cleanliness of rooms was also excellent No issues to mention here.
- Colin (9/5): highly recommended. - bedroom are beautiful. gardens are the best thing about the property. very relaxing. owners are fabulous. Wi-Fi was spotty.
- Robert (9/5): Enjoyable stay in spectacular garden location. - This property was located within the spectacular private Botanical gardens of Haut Bretagne. To really appreciate the 25 hectares gardens it is necessary to allocate at least 90minuites and follow the 2km marked trail which ensures you see everything. A restaurant was also situated in the gardens for lunch and dinner plus tea rooms.
