Guest Reviews
- Dave (9/5): - Unfortunately the kitchen was closed for evening meals. This was solved with an Uber eats delivery
- Kyle (10/5): -
- Jennifer (4/5): Wasn’t as expected which was a shame - The breakfast in the morning was good however it would have been nice to have been offered more coffee, orange juice and toast We didn’t like the fact that the room was very small, tiny tv, very dusty dirty floor and no housekeeping. There were tea stains on the walls and couldn’t control the heating as radiator was on and it was too warm. We could hear when people ran the water through the pipes. There was no change of towels either but when asked they did get us some as we had left ours on the floor
- Lorraine Usher (8/5): Great value, comfortable beds and a hearty breakfast - Excellent value, Michael was very welcoming when we arrived after a long journey. The King's Arms is a traditional English pub with rooms. We had a wonderful sleep and enjoyed a very hearty breakfast, included in the price, which was served at a time to suit us. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Kings Arms as good value. The furnishing could do with a bit of an upgrade, frayed carpets and tired paintwork, and an overall deep clean however that aside we enjoyed our stay, felt it was great value for money, and the hosts were extremely welcoming.
- stuart (9/5): good - The bed was comfy Sausages were undercooked for my preference.
- Dominique (10/5): -
- Simon (8/5): - Great breakfast. Comfortable bed. Evening meal only available, Fri and Saturday and Sunday lunch
- Michael (9/5): - Lovely facilities and good service. Very clean and comfortable Many stairs and difficult for me due to my immobility.
- michele (1/5): - Wrong country Not happy
- eloisa (8/5): -
- Sharon (10/5): Comfy, warm bedroom and a phenomenal veggie breakfast for me and a perfect traditional breakfast for my partner. - Warm greeting upon arrival, not just by the staff but the customers in the pub too! Nothing
- JoAnne (7/5): Great over an overnight stay - Lovely little pub with rooms, facilities very good. Excellent breakfast Bigger mirror in the bedroom would have been a bonus, also the bathroom mirror was high up, so i couldn't see in it without wearing high heeled shoes (I'm 5ft 4)
- Stephanie (5/5): The staff were helpful and welcoming, the open fires were lovely, but the food fell a bit short. - The breakfast was good, but I ordered one thing and got another. The bedroom was was furnished beautifully, with facilities for coffee etc. The room was freezing also the bathroom. Very cold tiles with no mat. No toilet roll, and after request for one, still no toilet roll.
- helen (8/5): - Nice country pub. Good atmosphere if eating & drinking there. Room was above the busy pub. I could hear the conversations going on downstairs, soon remedied with wax earplugs.
- Alan (9/5): Cosy village pub - Nice traditional cosy country pub Shower not very controllable for temperature
- David (10/5): Very comfortable and good value for money. - Charming old pub very cosy Nothing really
- Emma (9/5): A lovely stay in a very lovely place. Extremely comfortable. - A great stay in a very lovely location. The room was nice if small, but the bed was extremely comfortable. Thoughtful extra touches like access to fresh milk. Breakfast was fantastic and the staff extremely welcoming and friendly. The pub itself is a very nice village pub. Plenty of parking available onsite and it felt very secure and well managed.
- Keith (8/5): - all
- Guiseppe (5/5): - Friendly host Heat was off and room cold when we returned that evening. It did not come on again until 07;40 the following morning
- Richard (10/5): Great little find. - The pub atmosphere. Fire going. Locals having a laugh
The local IPA on tap
The staff, your typical village pub. Accommodating nothing too much of a bother
The room was fantastic. Very cozy. Lovely bed.
Great shower pressure
Plenty of parking
Superb brekkie I arrived at 8pm no food being served which was a shame as really fancied trying the food here.
- Derek (9/5): -
- Jim (10/5): -
- Brian (9/5): Excellent, very warm welcome. A lovely olde world pub - Superb plenty of choices to pick from, piping hot Nothing to dislike
- Rosemary (9/5): Highly recommended and very enjoyable. - Breakfast was delicious and there was a good choice. The venue was very comfortable and beautifully decorated Perhaps space to put a small suitcase and more space to hang clothes. We were there for 2 nights to attend a funeral and to socialise in the evenings. We did manage and the room is excellent for one or two nights but you'd have to manage your clothes in the suitcase for a longer stay.
- Stephanie (8/5): - Breakfast was lovely, easy to find/car park was good. Lots of cobwebs in the room that could easily be removed!
- andrew (8/5): Great staff great pub - Great staff nice pub My mistake in not checking if they served food during the week but the barman was great allowing me to order a takeaway and eat in! No facilities in walking distance unfortunately.
- Helen (8/5): -
- Sharon (10/5): -

- H-S (10/5): Great village pub and rooms - Lovely village pub. Incredibly well run. Amazing breakfast. Stunning rooms Nothing
- Gillian (10/5): Excellent accommodation for one. Delicious breakfast and secure parking - The pub was located in a picturesque village. The bed was huge and the room comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and parking was secure. The shower was not very powerful and the room was big enough for one but would have been too small for a couple.
- LESLIE (9/5): Nice quiet comfortable accommodation in Scalford - The location is situated in a quiet village 3.5miles north of Melton Mowbray. Easy check in
and the room was a decent size. The double bed and pillows were super comfortable, probably the best thing about the night.
Unfortunately my nights stay was not on an evening when food was available ,which is 3 nights at the back end of the week ,so I ate before arrival and enjoyed a pint later in the cosy bar.
Breakfast was OK without a huge amount of choice.
All in all I was pleased with the pub and would stay again No evening meal option that night, but it is all down to economics
- nigel (10/5): -
- Martin (10/5): Fantastic place to stay, really friendly and great service. - Great location, perfect hosts, nice locals and a decent pub.

- SAMANTHA (10/5): - Lovely and welcoming. Comfortable room and delicious food. 😃
- Helen (8/5): - Good position
- Langford (10/5): - We arrived to a warm welcome. The room was spotlessly clean the towels snow white and fluffy. King size bed sooo comfortable. A lovely big walk in shower. The weather was very hot and the room had a nice big fan also a mini fridge just outside our door filled daily with complimentary bottled still or sparkling water. Kettle with tea and coffee in our room. Will definitely be staying again. Oh and we had the rack of lamb meal one evening. Cooked to perfection 👌
- Lynda (9/5): Would definitely stay again. - Would definitely stay here again. Staff and locals were friendly, the food and drink excellent. Staff couldn't do enough for you. Our room, was comfortable and well set out and the comfy bed gave us a good night's sleep. It was an exceptionally hot few days so the fan provided was a godsend. One minor thing - the extractor fan in the bathroom was extremely noisy, and stayed on for about 15 minutes after use. We only used it once, after that we just switched on the lamp on the bathroom mirror and left the door open after our showers to disperse the steam.
- Michael (10/5): Very comfortable will stay again - Excellent welcome lovely room bed very comfortable Good breakfast Bathroom could do with upgrading ?
- Legg (8/5): - Lovely area
- Dilip (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly staff, quiet location. Food was good. Very pleasant and relaxing stay.

- Ian (9/5): good location for Melton Mowbray - It was value for money All fine
- Philip (10/5): Excellent overnight stay wouldn’t hesitate in going there again most enjoyable - Mark was very accommodating as we were running very late we couldn’t arrive before 9.30pm and he personally greeted us with a cold J20 very refreshing on such a hot sunny day we had been through.

- Ruth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emily (10/5): Fab hosts, lovely village pub with excellent food. - As always we had a warm welcome, clean room and excellent breakfast. The hosts are a wonderful couple and although the gentleman that normally cooks has some health issues, his partner still ensured we had a wonderful breakfast cooked to perfection. He even went out of his way to make me a lovely hot chocolate from his personal kitchen as they didn't have any in the pub. there is nothing we dislike about staying at The Kings Arms. this was our 3rd stay and will not be the last
- Michele (9/5): Great value, exceptional hosts and great restaurant - Staff were really friendly nothing was too much trouble - A bit tired in some parts but very clean

- Melissa (5/5): Disappointed that we were overcharged. - Comfortable bed and nice shower- but overcharged. We booked on Bookings.com for 80 pounds and were charged 100 pounds. They should reimburse us 20 pounds. See photos. We were told the cost would be 80 pounds and then we were charged 100 pounds??!!
- Steven (8/5): Good one nighter - Excellent breqkfast, well cooked, good choice of items.
Rooms very clean and everything worked. Rooms could do with a spruce up.as a little bit tired.
- Duncan (8/5): Very good -
- Daniel (10/5): Comfortable, friendly accommodating staff, exceptional service. -
- Carol (8/5): We have booked again for next year, and we know what to expect - It was a great village pub.. We had been at Burleigh Horse Trials every day, and just wanted to come back , have a couple of drinks and dinner. The pub was ideal for this Typical pub food, and perhaps a couple of options other than chips would have been brilliant. Please can you sort out the bathroom door and the shower.
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional - Mike, one of the landlords, was also the chef. We had one evening meal and four superb breakfasts, all of which were excellent. All the staff were very friendly. All in all, it couldn't have been better. Nothing. It all suited us perfectly. If I'm nit- picking, I could say our room was on the snug side, something Mike actually said to me himself! However, the bed was very comfortable, the shower was great and we were very happy with what we got.
- Maria (10/5): Excellent Overnight Stay - Comfortable room, clean, very quiet, comfortable bed. Bathroom with a good shower.
Delicious Full English Breakfast cooked by Mike.
Ample car park.
- Sophie (9/5): Superb -
- Chris (8/5): Very good -

- Robert (8/5): Very welcoming, very relaxing. - The owner and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming - nothing was too much effort.. Even though the regular chef was unavailable, the food choice and quality of cooking was very good. Nothing readily comes to mind.
- Paul (9/5): Superb - Friendly atmosphere. Manager awesome.
- Noel (10/5): Exceptional - Food was great and it was a comfortable stay staff really friendly
- Peter (10/5): Great trip with a nice comfortable pub to stop in. - Great hotel, it has excellent breakfast and is super friendly and the bed is just super comfortable It was a super hotel
- Pamela (7/5): Very pleasant stay in a lovely village with good beer! - The location was great just outside Melton Mowbray lovely pub, nice outdoor eating/drinking area.
Pleasant food and lovely welcoming staff.
Bathroom had everything you need for a 1 or 2 night stay comfortable bed, tea & coffee making facilities and a fridge on the landing with Water and fresh milk. The fire alarm went off early in the morning and the door of the room was a little stiff.
- Sarah (8/5): On the whole it was very pleasant. As couple of tweaks and better communication would make it excellent. - Easy to find. Excellent food, well priced.
The fisherman’s pie I had for supper was one of the best I’ve ever tasted! Set a 7.15 breakfast as had to get away before 8 but didn’t get food until 7.45 so had to bolt my breakfast and run. I realise it was a staff sickness issue but this wasn’t mentioned until very late on.
Room was very hot (due to the weather) but only a tiny bit at the top of the window could be opened. Maybe a fan could be put in during hot weather.
- Ian (8/5): Lovely. - Great location, friendly staff, nice pint, would definitely stay again. Kitchen open a bit later for evening meal and earlier for breakfast.
- Jeremy (9/5): Superb - The owner and staff, the welcome, the food. Very comfortable bed. Nice and clean. Bedroom was very compact but very comfortable.
- Simon (8/5): Very good - The Bar staff were lovely great company a credit to the place
- Tom (9/5): Superb - The breakfast was great. The staff were excellent and wanted to help out in any way. They were welcoming when we were running late for the restaurant as well as needing a slightly earlier breakfast time. The bed was comfy. The room wasn't 10 out of 10 cleanliness but still very good.
- Graham (7/5): Good -
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thomas (9/5): Perfect stopover - Lovely friendly home cooked staff (and food)! Very welcoming hosts. Maybe a fan in rooms - but it was an unusually hot day and didn't interfere with sleep.
- Keith (8/5): Very good -
- Merriatt (8/5): Friendly staff, pretty location but a long way out from anywhere so have to drive to get to anything. - Plenty of parking, comfortable room, nice breakfast and friendly staff Couldnt check in until 5pm as the pub didnt open until 4pm each day. We were there on a Monday and Tuesday and on Mondays the pub shuts at 8pm so by the time we had been out and come back we werent able to sit and have a drink because it was all shut up.
- Samanda (9/5): Fantastic value and a very comfortable stay, would definitely return. - Welcoming pub atmosphere and very comfortable beds with good quality linen and towels.
Mark cooked us a super full English high quality ingredients and well presented one of the best we have had in a long time.
Mark was a great host.
Also ample and secure parking. Could do with a little bit of updating on the decor but that’s being picky.
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Stacey (10/5): Would definitely come back was a pleasurable and relaxing experience, thank you to all the staff! - I felt very relaxed and comfortable with the staff and bar staff, locals lots of banter, and a good laugh, just what I needed. The food was delicious and made with good quality ingredients, presented well. The WiFi didn't show for guests and couldn't get connected, but that was a good thing a guess got me to relax more ha ha!!
- Mimi (7/5): Good for on overnight stay - Location perfect. Good bar and pub food. Staff very pleasant. Shower needs ventilation

- Karen (10/5): Warm welcome in a traditional pub - Lovely, friendly rural pub with excellent, traditional food, comfy beds and a warm welcome.
