Guest Reviews
- JónÁgúsdt (10/5): - The location by the Lake, the sauna, the staff, the food where excelent
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The stuff is friendly but really unhelpful in all needs.
Everything you do is additional cost.
- Joshua (8/5): Lovely stay in San Marcos - San Marcos was a lovely place to stay. The hostel has a great bar/restaurant on the lake with events every evening (which get very busy). There is a free sauna every evening and a great breakfast is also included.
Our room was clean, dark and quiet but the bed was very uncomfortable. There is only WiFi in communal areas and it is very poor, often not working at all.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Amazing place to be - even better place to stay - Fantastic atmosphere for any demographic - with incredible views, super clean rooms and bathrooms (even those for the public), excellent and kind service, tasty food - with great free breakfast - and plenty to do, I wish I would have stayed longer. They have themed nights to keep everyone entertained, it’s close to the action without being on top of everyone, plenty of space, a great dock and classes on site. Saw families, backpackers, older travellers and solo people. No one seemed to be having a bad time. Highly recommend. Only one criticism with my room (but such good value it hardly mattered) is that the bathroom was right next to my door, making all the tinkles and puffs totally audible in bed. Just pop some headphones or plugs in and you’re good to go.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Place has an excellent vibe, is the place to be in San Marcos for events. It also has splendid views of the lake and the overall layout of the main cafe and lakefront area is very beautiful. However, I wouldn't recommend staying here as a guest. The private rooms are sub-par - i wasn't able to sleep the few nights i stayed there while sleeping like a baby at other places I stayed. The "private" bathroom, which is ostensibly shared with 3 other private rooms, is actually shared with every single visitor to the hostel because everyone who walks by thinks it is for public use. Consequently, the bathroom was out of order or overflowing my entire stay. Had to poop in nearby town Tzununa. Also the beds are extremely unconfortable, sheets and pillowcases dirty, and general room ameneties lacking for price you are paying. I'd say this place is great to visit, but dissapointing to stay at. Food was pretty good.
