- Margie (8/5): - the property of the cottage was a little run down, jacuzzi tub on 2d floor didnt work! thats why i was very disappointed, the only thing that we really liked was breakfast, people and scenery!! way too expensive!
- William (4/5): Not Satisfactory - The room was terrible. There was an overpowering smell of air freshener that permeated the room, including the bedding. During the middle of the night, a panel spontaneously fell off the wall startling us both (see photo). It exposed a void in the wall containing what appeared to be electrical connections that do not meet code. We told the desk clerk at checkout who appeared to be less than concerned about our experience. Given the recent fire on the island, I would think electrical connections like those in the photo would be corrected! The shared bathroom was not very clean and extremely dated. Given the significant fee for the night, we expected a MUCH better experience. We would likely not consider staying at the property again. I will say our friends stayed at the Eureka at the same expense and had a significantly better experience.

- Pattyann (6/5): - The stay was nice. Clean and staff was friendly. But for the money that was very very expensive I would think that the place would be absolutely kept up. I understand it is on an island and prices are high. But for such a ridiculous priced inn I would expect no issues. It is simple maintenance that is not big things or take a lot of time to fix. Loft ceiling fan was making a very loud noise while on so we couldn’t have the fans on to circulate the air. The ac was already preset to a temp which was 71. And could not be adjusted so the place was very stuffy and warm. These are very simple fixes that should be kept up on and not expensive. The room was uncomfortable to sleep im due to the stuffiness and ac ineffective. The shower was gorgeous tile but dripped and didn’t shut off all the way. Simple fixes. Ac that can’t be adjusted was the biggest complaint I have. The grounds were clean but absolutely nothing to do on the grounds. Overpriced in my opinion. I would not rent again if I came to the island agsin. Overall it was ok.

It is perfect for walking to the downtown and when you are in need of a break from the busy downtown it is a perfect walk and quiet and peaceful. It is like you are in a completely different place.

Our room was very small which is typical of country inns, but everything was new & immaculate with daily towel exchange & fresh flowers. We even had a private patio! Wonderful people& beautiful weather!

I stayed in a smaller room and had a shared balcony and shared bathrooms. Definitely worth it in consideration to the location being close to all of the restaurants as well as the gorgeous view. The breakfast was amazing as well as all of the staff being extremely helpful to make sure I was happy and satisfied with my stay. Everything was cleaned very thoroughly as well and I have no complaints in regard to the cleanliness of my room as well as the lobby and dining area.

- Seth (10/5): The Best Place for a Winter Getaway - The 1661 inn was a dream to stay at. I have always wanted to see block island in the winter and we finally made the trip during a freezing January weekend. I’m so glad the inn is open year round to accommodate guests. And while it was only us and one other man staying at the hotel they still offered us all the fanfare including wine and cheese and a beautiful breakfast. The room was gorgeous and the view was incredible. The sheets and towels were so soft, the room was cozy and impeccably clean. I also love that every room is different and unique in its decor! The staff was so friendly and polite. Thank you 1661 inn, we will be back :)

The availability for shopping was nonexisting which was ok for us but there were not many dining choices open on the islandbut we enjoyed what was avaiable. They had a nice continential breakfast and wine and cheese at the inn which we enjoyed. Gluten free breakfast choices were available for choosing which was much appreciated.

We purposely went in mid-spring for off-season quiet, and The 1661 Inn was the perfect balance of liveliness and relaxation. Visiting the camels and kangaroos at the farm across the street was a delightful bonus!
