Guest Reviews
- Gillian (4/5): It is advertised as a hotel but run as an air BnB. - Restaurant wasn’t open during our stay The room is lacking a full length mirror.
The pillows are uncomfortable.
Lack of coat hangers and waste bin.
- Phillip (7/5): - All
- max (9/5): - Difficult to park
- Stephen (10/5): Steve and Marieann - Loved the food restaurant staff and accommodation Nothing
- Michaela (9/5): Absolutely luxurious comfort, we'll be back. - Loved the bath, the bed, the decor, the brownies, the communication. A beautiful room that was such a treat and very handy for eating and drinking locally. Everything about the room was luxurious, the shower, the toiletries, the towels Stairs were very unkempt and did not reflect the standard of the room. Not as soundproof as expected, particularly in the morning as places opened up. Wasn't aware when booking that the restaurant and bar were closed the night we were staying. When booking parking situation could be clearer, no problem parking by the bridge but it sounds in the description that parking is outside. All just feedback, would rebook in a heartbeat.
- Brody (10/5): - The room was excellent. Tons of space for the whole family. And very well decorated. Nothing.
- Graham (8/5): -
- Michael (10/5): -
- Helen (10/5): -
- KANAKO (7/5): - レストランの料理がどれも美味しくお店の雰囲気も良かった。 排水口の臭いがきになった。
- Kathryn (10/5): - Nice location. The rooms were pretty and unique and well cleaned. I was very happy with our stay.
- Patrik (9/5): - Sehr netter Empfang. Es wurde an alles gedacht: kleines Bett für unsere Tochter.
- Paeony (10/5): - The room was amazing! It was beautifully decorated and spacious. When we arrived, there were home-made cookies, and milk in the fridge. Both the bath and shower were fab and the bed was comfy. There was also a lovely view from the window of the rooftops and church. The restaurant was also great. 10/10 would recommend!
- Stephen (10/5): - An excellent comfortable hotel. The service is first rate, staff ever helpful, and the quality of the food in the restaurant is very good.
- Dee (9/5): Friendly staff snd delicious meal - Cosy and quirky N/a
- Gillian (10/5): Excellent luxury room in a central location - The location and quality of the accommodation is fabulous . The bathroom was huge and very impressive with plenty of fluffy towels and nice toiletries. The decor was stylish and traditional yet felt contemporary with every little extra you could hope for . Nice touch were the home made cookies in the room. Nothing
- THIERRY (9/5): -
- georgia (9/5): Fabulous, great value, will definitely return! - Fab room with everything we needed. Comfortable bed and wonderful bath. Nothing!
- Bal (9/5): Vancouver - The decor , was tastefully done and v comfortable . Classy . Not serving breakfast.
- Fiona (10/5): Very comfortable stay - Beautiful room and facilities, very clean, hospitable and welcoming hosts Nothing
- Amanda (10/5): -
- Charlotte (10/5): - Gorgeous room and bathroom, great location and really comfortable.
- Pollyanna (10/5): Great - Very comfortable stay, excellent staff. Nothing
- Forrest (9/5): Quiet hotel, comfortable stay in a large room with luxurious feel and fantastic bathroom. - The room and bathroom were large and well equipped. I liked the complimentary coffee, tea and water, comfortable bed and bedding, smart TV so I could log into my personal accounts. I enjoyed using the large bath and large shower. Although I don't think the room was overlooked, there was a window opposite the toilet area that didn't have a blind. It didn't feel private for using the bathroom, I blocked it up with some cushions!
- Julie (10/5): Exceptionally comfortable - Very comfortable room, beautiful large bathroom and lashings of hot water. At £200 a night I was surprised breakfast wasn’t included
- Caroline (10/5): Beautifully decorated room - Room beautifully decorated and had everything that you needed.
Great location.
- Kate (10/5): Spot on. Great town - Very very nice family room.
- Michaela (10/5): Perfect stay - The room was beautiful! The pictures do not do it justice. It was spacious, equipped with everything we could need. The bathroom was lovely and the spa toiletries were the perfect extra touch. We also loved the complimentary biscuits, perfect with a cup of tea when we arrived.
We would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to everyone. We loved it all!
- Richard (8/5): Would recommend, but make sure the restaurant is open - Fabulous room and bathroom ,superb bed ,mini bar etc ,very clean and comfortable.very quiet location. Couldn’t have breakfast or a meal as the restaurant was closed.had breakfast at a small cafe across the road.
- James (10/5): - Great room
- Nina (8/5): Invest in some lighting .. then you’d get a perfect score - It was clean, a good sized room The lighting was too dim, hard to see to get ready to go out etc
- Alice (10/5): -
- Marc (10/5): Night away - Wonderful spot. Beautiful room, well appointed. And the restaurant is lovely. Highly recommended.
- James (10/5): Will return to this beautiful property for both the food and rooms - Delightful pub with rooms in a quaint village full of charm. Delicious food and friendly staff. We stayed in the family room with bunk beds and it was fantastic the kids loved it, the shower and bath are great. Air conditioning unit was noisy but good to have
- Liselot (9/5): -
- Diana (10/5): I would thoroughly recommend these rooms which were beautifully presented. - We had an excellent, spacious and well appointed bedroom and bathroom. Super decorations and a very welcome air conditioning unit. Nothing it was all perfect
- Louise (10/5): Fabulous, staff were very helpful accommodating and welcoming. Nice touches in the room with toiletries and comfortable - Beautiful decorated large spacious room. No onsite parking
- Ariadna (9/5): Superb - Hidden gem…beautifully decorated (looked just like the pictures, even better) and very comfortable hotel. Great good selection in restaurant, also lovely and nice staff. Music playing next door on weekends with more food options (delicious fish & chips). Shops close early in town but full of nice sweets shops, antique shops and independent boutiques. Free parking 3 mins walk very good for value. They accommodated our 4 year old with a roll away bed and had it already set up when we checked in, so it was comfortable and convenient having it set up. I loved the complimentary Nespresso capsules & milk in the mini fridge for our lattes. The staff was nice nothing negative necessarily but a little more emphasis on hotel guests would be recommended. Like better greeting, quick overview of town would be a Warner welcoming experience and/or even a quick rundown of the room would have been a nice touch.
- Richard (8/5): - Our second stay at the Bower House and it was lovely, the added air con units were a bonus. Very disappointed however to find out that the cooked breakfast options are not included in the week only on weekends.
- SHAUN (6/5): - Hotel was beautiful and in great location but room was not clean, dirty tissues behind radiator and food crumbs on mat. Room was also extremely hot and air conditioning unit was ridiculously loud. Service was also terrible, no one available in a morning
- Alexandra (8/5): Very good -
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Agar (7/5): Enjoyed - Good Not much
- Robin (8/5): An enjoyable stay but the lack of breakfast options midweek is a negative. - Lovely rooms. Pleasant ambience in restaurant. Parking is difficult. No breakfast available.
- Bradley (9/5): Superb -
- Joann (10/5): Exceptional - It was a wonderful place with well thought out rooms that were comfortable and very clean and well appointed. It had charm and it was quaint and cozy.
The dinner was exceptional. Very high quality food that was interesting and delicious. We had the tasting menu and it was excellent and beautifully presented.
- Karen (10/5): A luxurious treat. Would definitely stay again - Central location. Well designed and nicely kept rooms, combining traditional features and modern amenities well. Excellent food. Friendly, efficient and obliging staff. No parking on site due to central location and nature of period property. Very little long stay parking in town and we were fortunate to get the last space in the car park recommended by our hotel.
- Hannah (10/5): Can’t wait to come back for longer. - It was elegantly furnished, good taste in artwork and decor, and beautiful style. A lovely bed, great quality toiletries and refreshments etc. Our favourite thing was Classic FM playing on the radio as we arrived. Would have LOVED a dressing gown. And that we stayed on a date that the restaurant was closed - would love to try it out next time.
- Louise (9/5): Superb -
- Neil (10/5): Pure class in every respect - Pure class in every respect. The room furnishings were all top quality done in a beautiful way. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was simply perfect. Cannot fault a single detail. Stairs could be a little bit difficult for those with limited mobility
- Adam (10/5): Lovely room, great food would recommend - Lovely rooms, very well decorated, huge bathroom lovely freestanding roll top bath. Comfy bed. Restaurant was very good, lovely food. Great staff.
- Jane (10/5): Fab overnight with amazing Dinner - Decoration excellent
- Holly (10/5): Fabulous weekend away for 2 - We were absolutely impressed with this little find. My daughter had given us a voucher for the cotswolds distillery and so we had to find a place to stay. This place was an absolute treat of a find. I hadn't booked a table at the restaurant, but had received a phone call from the venue in the morning explaining they were very busy due to it being valentines weekend, and would we like to book in with them, which I was able to do. I also explained we were arriving early due to the tour and The Bower House were very accommodating and we were able to sort ourselves out before we left. Thank you to Paul for calling us to sort this out in the morning, and helping us out with local taxi numbers. The room had great facilities, the local milk and the fridge in the room was wonderful, and loved the homemade biscuits too.
The food in the restaurant was exquisite, the service was exemplary, we were more than impressed and we stayed for breakfast too which didn't disappoint. Great service all round, couldn't give any more praise for this place. The only thing I'd suggest for the room would be a full length mirror. Other than that, it had everything we needed.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - Great room, fantastic food, attentive staff, 10/10
- Louise (9/5): A gem - Loved the room and the huge bathroom was a massive bonus. It was luxury hotel level which I did not expect from a local rooms above restaurant. The town has everything you need too. It was disappointing that we couldn't have breakfast over christmas, but we did know this beforehand.
It would have been good to have a small wall mirror above the table between the windows as there is no plug socket at the dressing table in the bathroom so had to use the hairdryer in the bedroom which involved moving the large freestanding mirror. Also handy if someone else is in the bathroom and you need a mirror.
- Courtney (10/5): Charming Weekend in the Cotswolds - I had a wonderful stay! The room is wonderfully appointed, quite large and very cozy. I was thrilled at seeing it. I'm still thinking about the amazing claw foot tub! The food at the Bower House below is absolutely delicious and the staff are incredibly kind and service-oriented. I hope I get to stay here soon again. The downtown area that the restaurant and rooms are in is so charming with many shops, restaurants, etc. I loved my three night stay
- Sallyann (10/5): Lovely stay in a luxurious, well appointed B&B - The rooms was beautifully decorated in a traditional style with great attention to detail. It was very clean and had everything you needed. This was the biggest bathroom we have ever seen! It was very luxurious.
The member of staff we met was very pleasant and communicated well before we arrived.
The location was perfect for us as close to our friends house. Because we stayed on a Sunday and Monday the restaurant is closed and there are no members of staff on site. We were told this before we stayed and it was not a problem during our stay only on departure. We were not given instructions where to leave the key and could not contact anyone for this information. This needs to be in the written information pack.
- Camilla (10/5): Great boutique hotel - Everything was exceptional - the staff, the room, the breakfast, the restaurant. nothing.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachele (10/5): Worth every penny - So beautifully equipped and styled, couldn’t fault anything, true flavor of English village life
- Fiona (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martyn (10/5): Very nice rooms, and quiet. Friendly, helpful staff. - We have stayed in Shipston a number of times and always wondered what The Bower house would be like - it was excellent and will be our first choice in the future.
- Kristi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angus (9/5): Superb -
- Shaun (10/5): A fulfilling time 🕰️ away and great to unwind and relax even if it’s just a night 👍 - A wonderful room and beautifully clean & tidy , the housemaid/person has gone to the trouble of paying attention to detail, I can honestly say you’d have to go far and wide to match it. As soon as you’re there it is very relaxing 😌. Getting the key 🔑 is no problem, straight forward instructions, parking no worries was able to park right outside to drop off suitcases 🧳, but
be aware of peaky cap brigade as there is a 2hr only …so parking at bridge st is a breeze 😉.
Met Paul and his lovely staff next day on checking out , He and his staff do the Bower House & building proud , Well presented and approachable. Highly recommended to couples who wish to get away for a night or possibly two 😃😉 Having to leave 🙃
- Paul (10/5): Excellent - Excellent Nothing
- Bussey (10/5): Exceptional - I liked the room, bed was comfy, the bathroom was nice, everything was clean. Staff very friendly my son did complain his bed was a bit uncomfortable because he could feel the metal bars through the soft mattress and other than that we had no other issues 🙂
- Caroline (8/5): Lovely comfortable rooms - Loved the decor…..had everything you’d need. Sadly no breakfast available as they are ‘closed’ Monday & Tuesday.
However we had a good breakfast across the road!
Drains need a bit of attention….there was a dreadful smell in the bathroom.
- Joanna (10/5): Perfect Cotswolds get away - without the silly for nothing prices. Hence why we will return. - On arrival we were greeted by Paul, felt very welcomed and pleased to see us. We arrived around 4pm, kitchen was not open yet so we popped next door for some snacks. My husband was baffled why we couldn't order these through the bar?
- Alan (9/5): Superb -
- Fionnghuala (10/5): - Our stay was very good and the rooms were very clean.
- Wayne (10/5): - Amazing little find. Five star all the way.
- Accessibleuk (7/5): Beautiful room, great value for money, but need to do something about the cleaning and heating. - The rooms were luxurious and plus and very well styled. The roll top bath was delightful. The rooms were far too hot. Both myself and my collegue were too warm in the room, even with the fan on. I did not feel I could sleep with the window open as my room was next to a flat rood giving easy access.
Also, it wasnt the cleanest. The tiles in the bathroom were gorgeous but there was black slime in the grout area in the shower cubicle.
- Luke (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (8/5): - Nice, quirky little hotel with good food. Great for a 1 night stay as Shipston is a bit limited beyond the hotel itself.
- Kaylem (10/5): Exceptional -
- Perry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joseph (10/5): - We had an absolutely terrific stay at the Bower House! We were delighted by the welcome gifts and daily service. I have been visiting Shipston for many years and the BH is a welcome addition to the area.
- Laura (8/5): - A very friendly welcome on arrival. Lovely room, beautiful bathroom. The area was very pretty with lots of coffee shops and bars, though not much more. A relaxing stay. Only criticism was the room was a bit cold. We were told we could turn our radiators up, but they never warmed and there wasn’t anyone at night when we got back to ask. Otherwise lovely.
- Sharon (10/5): - The room and breakfast were fantastic!
- Gemma (9/5): Friendly, great food - Great location. Went to the restaurant one night which I highly recommend. Staff very friendly. Even though it was not included the breakfast was well worth it. Nothing
- Heather (10/5): - We had just the one night stay at The Bower House as we were breaking our journey home. The accommodation was lovely and we had a very tasty breakfast the following morning. We were disappointed in that the evening we booked to stay the restaurant was not open as it would have been good to have dinner there and there were good reviews online.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our stay at The Bower House was perfect. The room was beautiful and the staff were welcoming and helpful. We are in the restaurant and the food was delicious. Highly recommended.
- Garry (7/5): Good -
- Sophie (7/5): Stylish large family hotel room in a beautiful town - Great location in the centre of town Tv wasn’t connecting to wifi so wouldn’t work properly nor was the freebiew
- Lisa (9/5): Superb -
- Ailbhe (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (8/5): Comfortable and relaxing room in a good location - The room was very well equipped and comfortable. We did not have breakfast Nothing very much
- Michel (10/5): Exceptional - What a breakfast! Best ever enjoyed in the UK At the time of booking I was unaware that the restaurant would be closed during our stay. A petty.
- Megan (10/5): Beautiful stay at this hotel. Quirky decor and extremely comfortable. - Beautiful decor, spacious and very clean. Would be nice to have a designated parking space.
- Harry (10/5): Exceptional - I had such a lovely stay!! I stayed here for work, everything was perfect, bed was comfy, room was nice and spacious, the staff were so friendly too! The downstairs restaurant serves some great food, breakfast was unreal too!! The town is so pretty as well! Highly recommend 👍
- Barry (10/5): Highly recommend lovely hotel - This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel in the last two weeks the rooms are very clean. The staff are very friendly. They offer a mini bar coffee machine and also air-conditioning.
I would highly recommend this hotel
- Paul (10/5): A lovely place to stay and eat - In such a central location, and very clean Nothing
- Bonnie (9/5): Superb -
- Alexandra (9/5): A luxurious place to stay, which felt like a real treat, other than one or two minor niggles. - Lovely décor, beautiful bathrooms, spotlessly clean. The fresh milk in the mini fridge was welcome and the building was quiet. We were unfortunate to stay on a night when the restaurant was closed and there were no staff on hand. We had two minor issues that couldn’t be resolved that evening: the nespresso machine in room 1 overflowed and the water was not properly heated, and the registration forms we were asked to complete and leave were not provided. A very minor issue was that more fruit and biscuits were provided in one room than the other! Perhaps we can return at a time when the restaurant is open as we had heard great things of it.
- Kimberly (10/5): Wonderful place! - We stayed for two nights and we loved our stay at The Bower House! Beautiful and spacious room was a welcome surprise. The bathroom was also huge and very nice. The decor was well done and the surprise welcome cookies were a great treat. Sadly we stayed here when the restaurant was closed so we didn’t get to try it but we had dinner at their sister restaurant, The Howard Arms, and it was fantastic! I would definitely stay here again!
- Liz (9/5): Superb -
- Marc (10/5): Great stay in Shipston on Stour - We had an amazing stay. The hotel was very central to all we wanted to see, gardens, castles, towns, Oxford and other sites.
The room was huge with a very nice big comfortable bed. All the amenities were available in the room from coffee machine, kettle, bar fridge etc.
The bathroom was great and almost bigger than the room itself (bathtub and shower). All was very clean.
Thank you for a super stay.
- Roger (8/5): Very good -
- Fraser (10/5): Fantastic experience, wonderful staff, exceptional food - Staff were amazing No lift to the rooms was hard work with the pram, but we received good help.
