- Verified traveler (2/5): A Costly Lesson at Hotel Zambezi, Conakry - Scammed at Hotel Zambezi, Conakry – A Warning for Travelers Staying at Hotel Zambezi was a costly mistake. I was conned out of 1.5 million Guinea Francs in what felt like a well-coordinated scam involving hotel staff, the supervisor, and the manager. A friendly "guest" at the bar insisted on buying me a drink. He seemed genuine—until I was slapped with his tab at checkout. Language barriers made my protests useless, and the manager, despite claiming American experience, refused to listen. With the scammer vanished, I was forced to pay up—practically frog-marched to Western Union to settle the bill. If you don’t speak French or are approached by a smooth-talking stranger at Hotel Zambezi, beware—you might be next. I’ll never set foot in Guinea again.

- Ernesto (2/5): Horrible place to stay, coming from overseas - Receptionist cannot speak english. The power went off and they were reluctant to turn on the generator. Water supply was poor.
- Fabrice (4/5): grandeur (un peu ?) et décadence (beaucoup) - L'hôtel a dû connaitre des meilleurs années, là ça ressemble à la décadence. Le pb est que les prix sont restés tels qu'au moment où il était correctement géré (il le fut selon mes sources). Le personnel est mal formé, mal informé et les services touchent le fond (de la piscine qui est bâchées, donc inutilisable). J'ai commandé un taxi pour l'aéroport, mais à l'heure venue je me suis aperçu qu'aucun chauffeur n'avait été appelé, j'ai donc fait le siège de la réception pour qu'ils le fassent sous ma pression. Mon vol étant à 22h00, j'ai demandé de conserver un chambre jusqu'à 17h30, pas de geste commercial, paiement plein pot comme pour une nuit complète. Le service de restauration est franchement lent (même personnel à l’accueil et à la restauration), l'ardoise des plats proposés qui n'a sans doute pas changé depuis des années n'est qu'un vague indication de ce qu'on sert. Je conseille aux prochains clients d'insister s'ils veulent des brochettes de poisson, on me dit que si on fait un peu d'archéologie du congélateur on peut en trouver. Enfin, si l'hôtel reste globalement assez propre, les carrelages de la salle de bain de ma chambre étaient franchement sales. Pour l'anecdote, sur la photo de l'entrée de l'hôtel, on distingue une C4 neuve. Elle est est encore, roues crevées, couverte de poussière. L'unique avantage de cet hôtel est sa proximité de l'aéroport

Non of the staff speak English and to top it off no breakfast provided, no food prepared at all. The manager was very aggressive over the phone when I made a complaint and didn't even speak to me. I will never be coming back here
- Albert (4/5): - Bij late aankomst door grote vertraging werden we onvriendelijk ontvangen. Het was heel warm en we wilden douchen maar er waren geen handdoeken. Er stond ern aangebroken flesje water in de koeling en verder niets. Er was geen mogelijkheid om de volgende morgen te ontbijten terwijl dat wel werd toegezegd.

- Rebecca (2/5): - Nice decor but that’s where it ended. No water running in the bathroom, wifi not working, and rarely anyone in reception to help. Deeply disappointed as was recommended by a reliable friend so suspect things have recently gone downhill.
- Calvin (8/5): - Assistance by the hotel to arrange rides for me to the city center and to the Sierra Leone border was invaluable. Location is about five minutes from the airport and about 20 - 30 minutes from the city center. Rooms are clean but basic. Restaurant service is good. Overall, a reasonable choice.
