Der Betreiber hat immer geholfen, tolle Tipps gegeben, Fahrräder zur Verfügung gestellt und eine Jeep Safari spontan organisiert. Ich wurde herzlichst aufgenommen. Es war wie ein Zuhause. • Doris (9/5): - Die Gastgeber waren einmalig! So herzlich und freundlich! Abends wurde für uns frisch gekocht. Man konnte sich Fahrräder für die Radtour durch die Ruinen mieten. Eine private Jeepsafari in den Hurulu Eco Park wurde auch extra zu einem guten Preis organisiert. Man sollte sich wirklich 3 Tage dafür Zeit nehmen.

If you order a breakfast, or dinner, they give you a lot of delicious food. Thank you! There were one accident, but the family manage it well.

Czystość w takich miejscach to nasze jedyne oczekiwanie, zupełnie nie zależy nam na jakiś udogodnieniach, chcemy się tylko wyspać i ruszać dalej, a w tym miejscu zdecydowanie tego zabrakło. Śmierdzące poduszki, pajęczyny na suficie w obu pomieszczeniach, wątpliwej czystości ręczniki oraz nieprzyjemny zapach z pościeli sugerujący, że była już używana przez naszych poprzedników, brudna toaleta. Nie rozumiem skąd te oceny, bo to głównie one nas zachęciły do tego miejsca. Śniadanie było smaczne.

• Birgit (7/5): - Boven op de prijs kwamen nog extra kosten voor airco gebruik. In eerste instantie leek het een mooie prijs voor de kamer. De eindrekening kwam een stuk duurder uit nadat ontbijt en airco erbij kwamen.

We could rent from him the bicycles which are essentially to go around the city. 15 minutes bicycling from the ancient city of Polonarruwa. The house is beautiful with a lot of green, trees and flowers. And you can walk in 5 minutes to a beautiful river and lake. The dinner we had in the house was amazing, one of the best in the country. Even the breakfast was really reach. Harry up while having it because monkeys wake up in the morning and would love to partecipate to the breakfast 🤣 but don’t worry the landlord will help you in case and anyway they are very peaceful

• Jonathan (10/5): Excellent homestay and authentic Sri Lankan experience. - Host was great and gave very useful help and advice for organising activities in local area. Room was very comfortable and good sized. Mosquito net provision was a real plus! Food was excellent with dinner & breakfast provided which was authentic Sri Lankan, also options rotated at each meal by the host. The location is slightly out of the main town, which was great for local nature spotting Mosquitos & humidity - but these are more specific to polonnaruwa and not the property. Somebody travelling to this bit of Sri Lanka must be expecting these things etc. Air conditioning is available at the property if needed of course.
• Elementarypenguin (10/5): Exceptional - Nice home in a quiet street a short distance from the city center. It's a short bike ride along a nice lakeside road to the ancient city. The food was very good and the portions larger than you can expect to eat - I had to skip lunch to be able to eat everything at dinner. Very friendly family. Hot water.

Shanta and his wife did their best to make me feel welcome and taken care of - they are so kind and friendly. I also had dinner here and it was homemade and delicious. The room is simple but you have the basic conditions you need. The location is also good - even though it’s a bit far from the ruins, the way to it is by the lake, which makes up for it! Thank you very much!

The lady is always smiling and great cook and the dad very helpful. I had a great stay and price was very good too. Very close to the lake and temple area. One of the rooms has a toilet facing the wall, however they are planning to restructure the bathroom soon

The meals were very complete, on the balcony of the house feeling nature very close. And important for me: have hot water in the shower. I also rented a bicycle to see all the ruins. a good place to choose in Polonnaruwa.

I arrived and quickly wanted to get out on a bike and Shanta had it ready for me in no time. Dinner was delicious and the bed is comfy. the location is perfect for being around the lake and reservoir which is idyllic, and for getting to the ancient city sites. I recommend staying here.

• Herman (7/5): Value for money - For the money I paid, the place was good. There was hot water, and the room was clean. Parking was available for my vehicle on the premises. However, parking is available only for one vehicle on the premises according to my observation. The room had an air conditioner, but the remote was not available to use; instead, there was a fan, and I used the fan. I arrived in the night at around 9:00 pm I did not feel he welcomed me warmly because he interrogated me as to why I came to Polonnaruwa, and what I was doing, and ended up saying that he normally gives his place only for foreigners. Which gave me the feeling that he did not have a choice since I booked the place via booking.com.

Shower head was broken. Human hair on the matrass. The lock inside was not working. Fungus on the wall. Dirty place. For a vacation No Go.

Tipical sri lankan room, basic, it can get humid, therefor you cannot avoid the smell. Apart from that all good.

• Noémie (9/5): Very nice homestay - It's a very nice homestay, and the house and garden are so beautiful. The room is comfortable and big and has a mosquito net. You can get AC for an extra fee but the fan is so powerful it's not necessary. The food they offer is delicious and comes in huge quantity, for a very reasonable price. They start serving breakfast at 6:30 which is perfect since the ancient city opens at 7am and is super close by bike. They also drove me to the bus station when I left for a very reasonable price. Ca, totally recommend. The wifi is weak but it wasn't a problem for me.

I think it is actually the best Home stay in Polonnaruwa city.❤️ That place is so quiet and healing. The owner and family were very friendly and eager to meet all our requests immediately.

Lovely host family who arranged us transportation from our previous location and dropped us at the bus stop too for our onward journey. We explored the ruins on bicycles you can rent from the property and we had delicious dinner and breakfast. Would 10/10 stay here again.

Though you may not need the mosquito net provided, I used it and felt comfortable. There’s no AC but I didn’t need it as the temp was cool at night. I would book it again for sure.

• Fuhsuan (1/5): Not recommended - AC is extra Rs1500, which they put it in the room description not in the room title like other hotels. The outlet in our room had sparkle when you plug in, and… it was not working. They somehow got my what’s app account and offered me extra service everyday which annoyed. The water was not hot, only warm water, which we had to re-start the heater many times.

A/C available at an additional cost but we didn’t need it as the area was cool enough and the fan in the room was more than enough. Out host cooked up a delicious dinner and breakfast, sorted us some bicycles for cycling around the ancient city. He arranged for us a fantastic guide to take us around Polonnaruwa and we learned so much. I would highly recommend staying here.

Their place is around 3km from the ancient city. They have bicycles for a small fee. The road next to the lake is amazing. I loved it. The room was spacious and cozy, hot water was available. You can get AC for an extra charge but I think a fan is enough. The food mom cooks is very delicious. I had dinner and breakfast with them. They were there to help me with everything and give me information about my sightseeing. I def recommend this place!!!

• Alana (10/5): Perfect place in Polonnaruwa - A lovely clean spacious inviting room with hot water shower bathroom. We loved sitting on the balcony looking out over the garden watching the parrots and squirrels in the morning whilst we ate our delicious breakfast. The owners are so kind and welcoming, you even get a cold welcome drink arrival. The dinners were the best we've had at any homestay and lots of variety and generous servings. The son organised a safari for us, which was very reasonable 20,000lkr for 5hours ( 1 hr to park and 3h safari which was enough to see lots of elephants and 1h return) So, can recommend if you want to see elephants. We would definitely stay here again and would love to stay longer next time. Leaving
• Terezie (2/5): Very poor - It was clean, the host is nice, they have hot shower. In the acommodation's description it doesn't say anything about the air condition, it's just visible on the photos. At the place the owner told us that the charge for the air condition is 1500 LRK. We are low cost travellers and this is even more expensive than the price for 1 person for 1 night. Other option was a big and super noisy fen. We asked the owner if he had something else, and he brough smaller, but the same noisy fen. And then he said, that it's a difficult situation - the fen is noisy, we cannot open the windows, because there are mosquitos, and otherwise it's too hot.. The only option is the air condition. I don't understand, why he doesn't have some mosquito net or not noisy fen, or why the price of the AC isn't already included (when there isn't another option) or at least mentioned in the description. Obviously he was just trying to gain more money, which we didn't have. During the night it was a mosquito hell. We didn't sleep at all. There were so many mosquitos coming from an irrational hole in the wall from the bathroom. Bathroom was another story. It's directly connected to the room with no chance of ventilation (only the hole in the wall), so all the humidity came into the room. With or without AC, we anyway had to open the windows to get rid of the humidity and the mosquitos came. It was terrible. In the morning we had breakfast. The price of the breakfast is 1200 LRK/person (on Booking there is written less),, but in reality it contains just 4 items from the local bakery (which we met on the way back to the town), where the original price of the items was like 300 LRK. It was just another option how to gain easy money.

• Ftačníková (10/5): Quiet and friendly stay - Very quiet and beautiful stay. Spacious room with bathroom and terrace. Friendly and helpful hosts. Very tasty and big homemade dinner (rice and curry). Reasonable price to rent a good bike. Totally recommend to stay and relax. Not far from the old city ( you can go on bike around a lake - very nice ride, also great place to watch sunset and it is just behind the accomodation) I would prefer to have an option of western breakfast. Not a big fan of Sri Lancan food in the morning. Wifi not great.

• Peter (8/5): Very good - Beautiful enviroment, perfect and tasteful home dinner. Unfinished and not completely clean bathroom, illogicaly located toilet, wifi not working.
