Guest Reviews
- george (2/5): - I had an unfortunate change of plans and called days in advance to cancel but they said no refund. Be sure to check on Expedia what the cancel policy is.
- KYLE (6/5): - GoogleMaps will take you to what looks like Burger King, but it is the correct way. It's there down beneath the Burger King.
Motel is a little worn out through time. I'm fragrance sensitive and I could smell a *Faint hint of laundry detergent in the sheets. It was still tolerable though. I slept fine.
The night attendant didn't hand me a Wi-Fi password, so I don't know if there's Wi-Fi or not.
For 60$ the price, and location were good. I went mountain biking the next day in St.James.
- Ariel (8/5): - ❤️
- Damon (8/5): - It's a cheaper motel, but you can tell they make an effort to keep things clean and nice.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Dead bolt wouldnt lock. Tub was too slippery to use.
- Adam (10/5): - Great.. Expect nothing less
- Adam (10/5): Cheap enough to warrant 5 stars - My stay at Finns was a mixed experience. While the room's bed was exceptionally comfortable—truly one of the best I've ever slept on in a hotel—the lack of any food options was a significant drawback.
I was surprised to find there was no free breakfast, a common amenity at many hotels. More disappointingly, there were no food options available for purchase at all. This meant that every meal required a trip off-site. For someone who prefers the convenience of dining in or grabbing a quick bite before heading out, this was a major inconvenience.
Ultimately, while the comfort of the bed made for a great night's sleep, the complete absence of food service makes me hesitant to recommend this hotel to fellow travelers who value convenience and on-site dining options.
- david (10/5): - Clean
- Tabatha (10/5): - All around was a good place to stop and cheap
- Shannon (2/5): - Owners are very rude, threatening to call cops if I wasn’t fien to the office in 5 mins to pay for another night. Said we could not workout outside, made my son open the door so they could see who was inside and made me write down names of everyone staying for no reason after I already paid the night up.
- david (10/5): - Clean comfortable room with newer flooring.
- Pedro (8/5): - It was clean and quiet, no poblems!
- Lynda (8/5): - Clean, comfy and cheap
- Linda (10/5): Clean budget friendly place - Check in was quick. Room was clean. Would definitely stay again.
- Dustin (6/5): - Lots of ants in the room, seemed to be dog hair on the sheets.
- Cindy (8/5): - Older hotel, but clean and friendly staff.
- Charles (10/5): - Location and security
- Sebastiana (2/5): - The room was disgustingly dirty, we had to ask for a blanket changed from a disgusting stain. The price for sleeping was alright but I would spend the extra money to stay somewhere ELSE better where they aren’t stingy to give me an extra clean cover for the bed on top of the blanket. THERE WERE STAINS AND DUST ON THE WHITE BED COVER We also asked for a non smoking room and it smelt of old cigarettes. The phone wasn’t even connected to call the front desk. Look into your rooms and make sure it ACTUALLY IS TIDY AND CLEANED UP NOT JUST COVERED UP
- Chad (8/5): - U get what u pay for was clean
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Ended up needing a place to stay last minute on a long haul home. Found this place online and from the reviews and pricing we gave it a shot. My friend and i had a great experience and the staff was so polite! Definitely recommend if you’re passing through Missouri and need a place to stay in a pinch, this place was perfect.
- Colton (8/5): - Property was clean and nice.
- Maria J. (10/5): - Nice room right off the highway
Clean and comfortable
- Chandler (6/5): -
- Glenda (2/5): - Terrible place to stay
- Rylan (8/5): - Great place right of the highway
- David (10/5): - Nice
- Eric (8/5): - Easy access everything.
- David (4/5): Good price. Couldn't shower... - So, for the price I thought this is OK. Did have to ask for more TP because there was none. It did snow overnight so we had zero TV the next morning. Then the shower. The knob for hot/cold just spun. We couldn't shower. End of review.
- Tosha (2/5): - I couldn’t hear the guy who checked us in. And I accidentally left behind a stuffed animal that was important to me and when I called to ask if they found it and would mail it back to be the lady refused and told me I had the wrong place after confirming that it was the hotel we stayed at and they found my stuffed cow in our room.
- Sue (8/5): - Good
- Leah (8/5): - This is an older, kind of run down property, and there was a bit of a musty smell in the room. However, despite the apparent age and smell the room was impeccably clean. No diet anywhere. Sheets and towels smelled fresh and the bed and pillows seemed modern and was very comfortable. There was shampoo, soap, coffee, a refrigerator, microwave, and strong WiFi. Couldn’t figure out the TV. Parking was so easy right outside of the room. This is a budget room, but had what I needed. The smell was ok when I got used to it but I did keep the window open all night which was the saving grace. I would stay there again, but keep in mind this is just what you need while traveling but not fancy at all.
- Katharine (10/5): - When we are in the St. James area, we have booked our overnight stays at Finn's. The nightly price is really good and it is right by the highway. The room was clean but could be a little cleaner. The bed is very comfortable. The motel could most certainly use an upgrade but then again for the price, it is a good deal.
- Edward (8/5): - Toilet stopped up in the middle Duke of the night.
- Peggy (2/5): - Floors nadty turned socks black poop on tub and floor and inside toilet...Staff treated us like garbage...Worse motel i have ever stayed in !!!Would NOT Recommend
- lou anne (6/5): - Room was a nice size, but bad smell inside the room.
- Loida (2/5): - The rooms are nice and look clean, but the smell is very strong like a dirty diaper, maybe it was a problem with the drainage but it is terrible defenatly not staying here again
- Dan (10/5): - It was simple but clean and smelled good, everything worked, and there was both a convenience store and a fast food restaraunt within a two minute walk. Also was in a good neighborhood.
- Daniel (10/5): Clean - Basic but clean!
- Future (10/5): - Very quaint motel. The rooms are large and very clean. The gentleman running the place was so nice and accommodating. There was several options close by for food... All over a very nice experience
- Karen (8/5): I would stay again - They were a small friendly little place that was accommodating
- Sara (6/5): - Though the room needed to be updated it was surprisingly clean. The beds were very comfortable. The motel was close to the interstate but was not a noise issue. The price was right and would definitely stay again. I would recommend additional locks on the doors
- John (8/5): - A very good bed and a very good value
- Willie (8/5): - Although I was told by a State Trooper that this location had a bad reputation I found it comfortable and quiet. The staff seemed ambivalent and they weren't even around when I went to check out. The room was ckean and teh bed comfortable. The shower pressure was good and it was quiet all night. I would recommend this for future stays with the hope that they would work to improve their reputation with local authorities.
- James (2/5): Warning! - Strong smell of sewer gas! We ran water in all drains in case the drain traps were dry - but it did not help. Owner moved us to another room but it had tha same smell. Wife was feeling sick. Owner tried to move us again, but by this time we had enough of their lies. We left and got a room in a nearby town. The owner would not give us a refund - even though we did not stay the night.
- Brian (2/5): Don’t stay here - The staff was definitely not friendly the room was very dingy and out dated and smelled horrible. The bed was very old and stiff even the tv didn’t work properly
- Joellyn (6/5): - I use to stay here a couple times a year. Its been a few years I've been here. Definitely the condition of the property is getting worse. Use to be really clean but this stay was unsettling. There were shoe prints all over the floor. The sheets had stains on them. Found a spider in the bed. There was 3 feather pillows on the bed. 2 of them were yellow. Was in a none smoking room 20 but there were yellow cigarette stains all over the counter of the sink. Bathroom in desperate state of maintenance. Bathtub chipping. Bathroom door needs painting. Bathroom mat was dirty. Towels stained. Bed was comfy. Unfortunate to say but i went be staying here anymore.
- Jim (8/5): - It had nice restaurants close
- Connie Paul (8/5): Fishing Trip - We stayed here with our grandson while Trout fishing at Meramec Springs. Our room was clean, comfortable & quiet. The only issue we had was the shower head in our room was not good. I would spray water many directions, and the pressure was not strong enough to wash/rinse hair. Would definitely stay here again.
- Micky (6/5): - Received what I was expecting for this price point. It is an older property that isn't completely awful inside. It is near a highway, so you get some road noise. Not a big mega name property but you're not paying a big price.
- casey (8/5): - The room was clean. The shower faucet had a constant drip which was a bit annoying at night. The hotel is also right next to Interstate 44 so semi are jake braking throughout the night. There can be a bit of an unsavory crowd lurking around after dark. Be sure your vehicle is locked up.
- Michele (10/5): Excellent - Bed was extremely comfortable AC worked extremely well
- Seyid (6/5): - We like it but Someone’s car was stolen at Otel And we got jerky Smells the restroom during midnight
- Candice (6/5): - The shower head in room 27 was broke
- Barbara (4/5): - There were no bugs and it was a bed for the night out of the elements. The interstate is very noisy. The linens were stained. I did not use the shower because it appeared unclean, old, chipped and needed new calking. This motel is very outdated and in need of a great deal of TLC. Even some fresh paint would help. Is there no standard of pride in owning a decent property anymore or am I old fashioned?
- Larry (6/5): Don’t stay here! - The building was old and smelly!! The bed was hard. Worst place I’ve ever stayed. The picture on their website is NOT what you actually get!! Sketchy place! Metal plates around the bed.
- patrick (4/5): Frustrated - The room was musty smelling.
- Thomas (4/5): Very budget friendly - spend more if you can! - While this was a very budget friendly stay it was at the same time disgusting. There was no toilet paper to start with, hair in the bathtub, the sink was rusted out and by that time the single sheet was my only protection from the likely infested bed cover.
I will say, checking was great and the attendant was super friendly. They responded to my To request ASAP during a late night checkout.
I was happy to find a place during the eclipse, but, if you got spare change ... Stay elsewhere!!!
- Alma (4/5): - It wasn't as loud as I thought it would be that was a plus,
But they didn't have any heat in the room and it was pretty cold through out the night, the pictures of the place looked great but it wasn't any thing like the pictures.
- Mary (10/5): - The staff is always very accommodating and friendly. The rooms are always very clean and the beds are very comfortable.
- Mary (10/5): - The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable
- Mary (10/5): - The room was very clean and the beds are very comfortable
- Mary (10/5): - The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable.
- Mary (10/5): - The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable
- Mary (10/5): - The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Beware do not stay here - Beware. Heat is off when you enter the room. It was 20 degrees outside. Took almost 3 hours to warm the room up. Coffee maker is a 1 cup maker. The coffee packets are for 4 cups. Shower sucks. Have to duck to get under the spray. Tub is very slippery and dangerous. Almost fell twice trying to get under the spray. Soap was old and crumbly. Pitched it in the garbage.
- Rebecca (10/5): - Clean. No frills. Friendly staff. Wish the heat / air had been ready for a guest. Warmed right up. We left for dinner. It was nice & toasty when we got back. We plan to stay again on our next time thru.
- Joyce (10/5): Perfect room for the night! - We needed a comfortable place to sleep after a long day. Finn provided a clean, nice room, good bed, microwave and refrigerator. The room had been updated, basic but nice. Coffee maker in the room. The only negative was they did not offer breakfast. The price was well worth the stay. Would stay there again.
- James (10/5): Highway noise - Everything was good easy to get to staff friendly room nice highway noise to close
- Glenda (6/5): - Finns Motel was definitely worth the money. It was a very low price. It was not noisy by the motel. There was very little interaction with staff but it was pleasant. It was good with our dog as the floor was linoleum. The fridge was clean. Our room was extremely cold when we went in but the heater warmed it up very quickly. It is dated, but OK for one night and an excellent price.
- Katharine (10/5): - The room was nice. The bed was very comfortable and clean. Rooms could use a little bit of an update. The facility is right off the highway and very convenient to the business district in St. James. We had a nice stay.
- Mark (4/5): - Staff was nice. Easy check in and easy parking.
But the place is an old run down hotel next to a noisy freeway. Bring earplugs! Parking lot was clean, rooms lower in quality than a motel 6. Disappointing, but the price was also low so maybe you get what you pay for.
- Dennis (2/5): - Did not like ANYTHING about this motel. The sheets were dirty - the towels were not just dirty, they were wet! The toilet was stopped up - the batteries in the TV remote were dead. Horrible experience!!!
- Matt (8/5): - It's an old school classic motel, taken over by people who keep it very clean and efficient. Yes it has worn out spots but for the price you can't complain. Clean 2 start motel next to a freeway. They even loaned me a cane overnight as I hurt my bad knee a couple hours earlier. Thanks!
- Leroy (8/5): - The room was clean and quiet. I would stay again if in the area
- DANIEL (10/5): - Very convenient
- sean (4/5): - Old and dated even though a few updates were made. Very bad smell in room. Would not recommend this motel.
- Rosanne (8/5): - Prperty was good value for the cost.
The hosts were very welcoming.
The propertys presentation was clean but dated and very average
- Doris (8/5): Older but comfortable and clean - It's an older hotel, but the bed was comfortable, everything worked (The shower could peel your skin off there was so much pressure! :) ) There were plenty of channels on the tv, wifi was good and ice machine available. A/C kept the room at a comfortable temperature. This was our 2nd stay and we'll probably stay again, we travel to the area for Trout park.
- William (10/5): - Nothing wrong
- Nancy (10/5): - I liked the clean comfortable room.
- John (4/5): Would not recommend - The water had a strong sulfur stench to the point that my wife couldn’t finish her shower. The odor did eventually diminish as the water ran. Also, the room was dirty, with dirt collected in the corners, especially in the bathroom.
- Mitchell (4/5): Gross - This place stinks, and I mean quite literally. The room smelt terrible, like a mixture between mold, dirty laundry, and rotting food. The beds are uncomfortable and the bathroom area was disgusting as well. I’d recommend paying a little extra $ and staying elsewhere.
- Tina (4/5): - We stayed the weekend. There was popcorn stuck on side of end table and under the bed. The shower didn’t work and the shower curtain fell down, the phone didn’t work so I couldn’t call them to help with shower situation. I’ll start paying extra for a good hotel next time.
- Stan (4/5): - The room smelled of sour milk and feces.
- Kathy (6/5): - Pretty clean, bed was comfortable. The bathroom is very small. Liked that there was no carpet on the floor.
- Cynthia (10/5): - Clean rooms.. little dated.. some weird characters around
- Katrina (10/5): Perfect stay. - If you’re looking for a place to sleep that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg and still provides you with a great bed and all the other things you need, stop here. No complaints. I’ve been on the road for 3 weeks and this is the best deal we’ve had on lodging and the room was great.
- Doris (10/5): No frills hotel, but comfortable and friendly help - The hotel staff was very friendly and efficient. The hotel has been updated you can tell, the bed was comfortable and the room was spacious (was 1 bed room). The bathroom could use a bit of work, and it's pretty small. The tv channel selection was very good. We brought our own fan to drown out the highway noise. Would (and probably will ) stay there again!
- Tamika (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at Finns! The room was clean and quaint and exactly what we needed. It was a great deal for the price. While it was close to the highway, it was very quiet and we had no issues at all. We will definitely stay again if we are ever in the area!
- Lindsey (8/5): Clean, comfortable, budget-friendly - When you just need a budget-friendly place that’s clean and has a comfy bed, this is the place. And super convenient, being right off the interstate.
- Vicki (8/5): - Nothing fancy-just clean place to stay
- Jasmin (8/5): - This is a vintage motel that is very close to the highway as well as amenities. Check in was simple and attendant was polite. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
- brian (4/5): - steam bathroom, alittle touch up paint
try to eliminate pot smoke smell
- Htoo (10/5): - Love staying at Finn Motel but the water there kind of smell not sure why. But most of all love everything there
- dennis (8/5): - It was a very nice vintage motor lodge that made you feel like you stepped back in time but with all the modern amenities. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean and comfortable. The girl who checked us in was funny and friendly. I would certainly stay there again.
- Kim (10/5): - Very small, old motel. We really loved it for a one night traveling onward motel. Very clean and well kept. Great price! We will definitely stay again when we travel that route.
- Sherrall (10/5): - Nice for the price.
- Jeff (8/5): - Great night's sleep for a good price. Property is older, but kept very clean. Some noise from the interstate, but not enough to disturb sleep.
- Mary (10/5): - The staff has always been very helpful and friendly.
- Pepper (8/5): - Large rooms , right off the highway.
