• Thomas (9/5): Well worth it! - A very nice Japanese style hotel. Quiet and relaxing. They use physical keys and require that you leave them at the front desk when leaving the hotel. A little uncomfortable with that setup.
• Rebecca (10/5): Agréable séjour à Kyoto, décoration traditionnelle, chambre très confortable, personnel attentionné - Magnifique hôtel avec une jolie décoration traditionnelle, personnel attentionné et chambre très confortable. Tous les repas proposés sont japonais c’était bons et permettent de découvrir de nouvelles saveurs. Les kimonos prêtés étaient adorables, le onsen privé (payant) était très agréable avec vue sur Yasaka Pagoda (temple Hōkan-ji). Comptez environ 15–20 min à pied pour rejoindre Gion, et il est facile de commander un Uber ou demander un taxi à l’hôtel. Le personnel (comme dans pas mal d’hôtels que nous avons fait au Japon) ils ne sont pas tous à l’aise avec l’anglais on avait parfois un peu de mal à se faire comprendre.

• IL HWAN (10/5): 교토에서 멋진 여행, 충분한 기억할만한 좋은 여행이었습니다. - 저녁식사와 다음날 아침식사가 포함되었는데, 두 식사 모두 매우 만족했습니다. 13살, 11살 아이가 먹기에 적당할 지 다소 걱정했지만, 모든 가족이 저녁과 아침에 매우 만족했습니다. 숙소는 깔끔하고 아늑했고, 숙소 내에 있는 라운지에서는 무료 다과와 커피를 즐길 수 있는 점도 좋았습니다. 무엇보다 모든 직원이 너무 친절했습니다! 오사카역에서 걸어가거나 대중교통을 타고 가기에는 다소 어렵습니다. 택시를 타면 금방 도착하고 큰 비용이 들지 않으니, 택시를 타는 것을 권합니다. 미리 예약을 하면 호텔에서 셔틀을 제공한다는 이야기도 들었는데, 그 방법도 좋을 것 같습니다.

• David (10/5): First Class Service from Lovely Japanese staff - The hotel staff were exceptionally welcoming and polite it was delightful to meet them. They all went an extra mile to make our stay comfortable and happy. For example it was my wife’s birthday and they presented her with a bamboo chocolate cake after we had a fabulous Japanese dinner. The waiting staff were lovely! We were also so grateful to the gentleman that on arrival that had taken photographs under their blossom tree and on departure the same person filled out our Yamato forms to foward on our luggage to our hotel in Tokyo! 👏All the staff were charming, hard working and supportive. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! We liked everything!

• Yajie (8/5): Excellent in every way but pest control was a dealbreaker - I love the Japanese style breastfast. Even my kids enjoyed it. They were also super impressed by the Japanese style bathroom and had a blast. The location is super convenient to visit Kiyomizu temple anytime. The staff was polite and attentative. The stay could have been perfect BUT we saw a cockroach. It was in the middle of the tatami area when the light went up, then disappeared into the closet instantly. It gave my daughter a nerve wrack and she got anxious for the rest of night. It was her first time to ever see a cockroach. I was not that emotional but I had to be extra careful while packing so we wouldn't leave with unwanted guests. The staff didn't even seem surprised when I report about the cockroach. I guess they get used to live with them.

Location was perfect on a quiet street that is walking distance to the historic shopping streets, the staff was incredible, rooms were spacious, and we were very happy with it. We were a group, so we rented 5 rooms and everyone was happy. One in our party rented a room with the outdoor onsen - that was amazingly great! The staff also arranged for us to forward our bags on to Tokyo which was a nice option.

It’s perfectly located - easy walking distance to sights, shops, and restaurants. The onsen is lovely and relaxing. The hotel combines traditional Japanese hospitality with 21st century conveniences.

Wonderful to be able to leave hotel and stroll around historic district when it was not crowded. Rooms were so clean and modern, but with charm of a historic Japanese Inn. The option of room with open air soaking tub was totally worth it. Lounge with fresh coffee made mornings wonderful for everyone in our group. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. One person in our group had the Japanese breakfast and said it was good, but the rest of us just enjoyed good coffee from the lounge. Short walk or taxi ride from hotel into the center of Kyoto, but hotel is located on a very quiet street. Many of the smaller, traditional restaurants in the area would not take walk-ins for dinner and since we didn't have reservations we were turned away.

• katherine (10/5): You must stay here to get the best Japanese experience for your vacation! - The Saka hotel felt like a true Japanese experience. We stayed for 3 nights. The room was simply decorated, but was huge compared to Japanese standards. The amenities were generous, complete with fresh yukata to use, separate from pajamas. 3 kinds of slippers for different areas or the room and hotel! The staff, very courteous and friendly. The half board option (breakfast and dinner) was something we looked forward to! The number and quality of courses were exceptional, delicious, healthy, and interesting. Congratulations to the staff and chef for providing a truly memorable experience. We walked around town and did not have to take any other transportation, except to the train station. This hotel was the best experience during our Japan trip (and we stayed at 5* hotels in Tokyo and in Osaka). Photos are sampling of the good and menus

The room is comfortable and has everything you need to feel at ease. It’s lovely to walk around the hotel wearing the yukata provided. The guest lounge is also very pleasant, offering hot drinks, light refreshments, and ice cream throughout the day. We would especially like to mention the wonderful hotel staff, who kindly responded to every request and question we had. Both breakfast options — the Japanese and the Western — are excellent. It’s worth coming with an open mind and trying the Japanese breakfast even if you’re not used to it. It’s a wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

• Hyun Do (10/5): 첫 교토 방문, 첫 숙소, 최고의 인상 - 아침식사는 매일 바뀌는 한상 차림의 일정식 이었습니다. 부페식을 좋아하시는 분이 아니고선 다 만족 할 수 있을 것 같습니다. 맛도 정성도 느껴질만한 요리였고, 무엇보다 북적대지 않는 공간에서 편안한 식사가 가능했던 것이 좋았습니다. 시간 예약을 해야하는 점이 굳이 꼽으라면 단점이 될 수 있겠습니다만, 해당 시각에 방문하면 조용히 아침 식사가 가능했던 점 높게 사고 싶습니다. 아쉽다고 할 만한게 정말 없었습니다. 굳이 하나 꼽으라면 가성비 있는 숙소는 아니였지만, 애초에 가성비를 생각하고 간 곳은 아니였기 때문에, 좋은 경험과 기억만 남아있습니다. 본 작성자는 첫 교토 방문의 첫 숙소가 이곳이어서 너무 좋았고 접객, 숙소 편안함 등과 함께 주요 방문지와의 접근성 등이 매우 좋았습니다. 재방문 의사 매우 있습니다.

• Dayna (10/5): Great value. Beautiful and perfect location if you want to be away from modern Kyoto. - Location was 10/10. So quiet and peaceful. A quick 10 min walk to all the beautiful historical areas of Kyoto, Gion, etc. They had a beautiful cozy lounge with 24/7 tea, coffee, snacks and sparkling wine around 4-6 pm. Our room was spacious, so clean and comfortable. All the guests were respectful and quiet as well. I read somewhere that they can’t won’t call for dinner reservations for you, so I didn’t try asking. It would be great if they could.
