Guest Reviews
- Izzy (10/5): -
- Charles (8/5): Very relaxed and calm surroundings - Peaceful
- Anthony (10/5): Splendid stay - Beautiful home in a quiet location, Will was a wonderful host and very accommodating, wouldn't hesitate to return My only negative was that there was only a bath with no shower attachment but that's just splitting hairs!
- Charlie (8/5): - Lovely home and room, breakfast was great and the host was very kind and helpful
- Emma (10/5): Beautiful countryside house - The family were very accommodating and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious and cooked fresh. The accommodation has 3 wonderful dogs who are very well behaved and love some attention. The bedroom and bathroom were huge and had beautiful countryside views. It is located in a beautiful countryside town that is very quiet. We enjoyed our stay and will be visiting again.
- Andrew (10/5): The perfect place to stay. - Beautiful property, very welcoming owners, a real home from home. A very comfortable bed led to a great nights sleep followed by a delicious cooked breakfast. I wouldn’t hesitate to return here and look forward to doing so. The local pub is superb, great food and beer. All in all a great stay. Thank you! Absolutely nothing.
- Andrew (3/5): Very disappointing - Not a lot Polite , took our cases up on arrival. No real welcome. No wardrobe or hanging space. No mirror in bedroom. Could have done with some kind of shower. General cleanliness was poor. Needs good dusting.Tea tray was minimal and scruffy..Unexpected visit by a mouse in the.night!
Definitely not a deluxe room as described. Not good value for money. Generally needs to be smartened up. We didn't feel the hosts were that interested in being good hosts and in maintaining a standard that justified the price.
- Bob (7/5): Most enjoyable. - Very spacious accommodation and hearty breakfast. Great hosts.
- Frank (1/5): Did not stay .would not recommend. - Did not like location .very remote Refer to message already sent.
- Michael (10/5): Delightful host and surroundings, great breakfast and room, could do with a shower, safe and secure. - Breakfast was absolutely fantastic and the room in which it is served delightful. The house is full of lovely old furniture and paintings, homely, welcoming and unpretentious. No shower in the bathroom.
- Daniel (9/5): Superb -
- Simon (5/5): Lovely hosts but room needs updating - Friendly hosts
Good breakfast
Large bedroom No shower cubicle or shower in the bath, so impossible to wash my hair
No wardrobe or ability to hang clothes
Furniture in the bedroom was dusty
- Tim (10/5): Just like home, without the hassle - Peace, garden, Hartest, sofa, conversation, breakfast, sublime bed. Nothing
- Gareth (10/5): Felt welcome and it’s beautifully quiet - Lovely home, nice personal touches and exceptionally kind people. Free WiFi is very fast! Nothing
- Hilary (8/5): A wonderful summer break in a charming country farmhouse. - The farmhouse was in quite a remote location in the beautiful Suffolk countryside. I didn't much like the single carriage country roads where several times we encountered oncoming vehicles, but it was definitely worth it when we arrived.
The house is charming and a little old fashioned but it was delightful and very relaxing..We were very warmly welcomed by Will who cooked our delicious breakfast each morning, and a bit later by Lucy too. Will kindly helped with our luggage when we arrived, and took my case upstairs. Each morning we were served our breakfast in a charming dining room which was full of antique furniture, interesting paintings, and had a beautiful old fireplace. The table was set in a very traditional way and it was all so nice. Will told us a little of the history of the house which dates back a very long time, and when asked, recommended a great village pub/restaurant in Hartest close to the village green. where we ate twice.
The vines outside gave some shade across the windows and it was just a bit like being in a very peaceful bygone age. The dogs were very friendly, well behaved and liked to be petted.
Our room was huge, bright and airy and the bed was very comfortable. It was lovely and light with double aspect windows and it led on to a large bathroom/WC with the biggest bath I have ever seen. If perhaps we could have stayed longer but, unfortunately, we couldn't.
It would have been good to have had a waste bin in the bedroom as well as in the bathroom.
- Lesley (5/5): Passable -
- Paula (8/5): Enjoyable stay - Was a lovely property very comfortable room and bed . Hosts were fabulous so incredibly friendly and welcoming .
- Ian (7/5): Lovely old farmhouse in quiet location but breakfast needs improving. - Lovely quiet location, a very characterful house and friendly hosts. Breakfast was fair - but eggs were hard and bread was ordinary white sliced.
- Julie (4/5): Dissapointed - It was set in a beautiful location. The room was tired and dated , dusty on headboard and other areas. toothpaste in basin , bedsheets didn't match , no bottle of water in rooms. There is no lock on the bedroom door. Old used soap in the bathroom. The towels were like cardboard. We definitely didn't think it was worth the money and wouldn't recommend it.
- Martin (8/5): Enjoyed the faded glory - We enjoyed the faded glory of this wonderful house filled with history in a magnificent room with very comfortable bed. It was a pleasure to talk with the owner during a hearty cooked breakfast accompanied by his well behaved old spaniel. Cleanliness was poor and I had to improvise for bath gel.
- Alec (10/5): Excellent - Great Host Great Stay Great Breakfast
- Timothy (10/5): Exceptional - Huge room, peaceful and flexible host. Lovely chat in the morning and accommodating with my bicycle.
- David (8/5): It was enjoyable - Breakfast was excellent For medical reasons I would prefer a walk-in shower
- David (9/5): highly satisfactory in all respects, -
- Davide (6/5): Pleasant - Historical farm house The rooms must be cleaner
- Amanda (8/5): Very good - Friendly host
Comfortable spacious room
Great location
Good variety for breakfast, great coffee
Wi fi Would have been nice to have individual milk portions in the bedroom.
Otherwise, no other dislikes
- Ian (6/5): Pleasant - Nowhere to hang a suit or coats. No loo roll holder. No shelf for toiletries in the bathroom. Limited choice at breakfast - no fruit and little thought about providing for a vegetarian.
- Michael (9/5): A very pleasant stay. - Breakfast was excellent room large and comfortable Hosts very
Friendly. Me personally not on the ground floor.
- Sharon (4/5): A bit bizarre really not somewhere I would stay again I’m afraid. - Lovely location.
Decent breakfast The room was not clean. The bathroom was dirty and there were cobwebs and dust and dirt everywhere.
There were no toiletries.
No wardrobe to hang any clothes.
Noisy family members at 11pm at night running up the corridor and raising voices with no apparent concern for visitors.
It could be stunning g with a little tlc and attention to detail.
- We (9/5): Superb -
- Jordan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Finlay (9/5): Great overnight stop - Large bedroom & bathroom
Good breakfast Nothing
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Liam (10/5): Exceptional - Warm welcome, excellent quality breakfast.
- Colin (1/5): Didnt stay - Nothing Owners said come find us if you need anything but we had to knock repeatedly before they answered, we had been given a tiny jug of just enough fresh milk to last all night, this was our reason for knocking, we were given another small jug, but it was made clear they didnt want to see us again til morning. The sheets hadnt been changed and were dirty, the towels also hadnt been changed and smelt dirty. The owners had dogs which jumped all over me barking and werent told to stop. We ended up leaving without staying and at a time that was already a very stressful situation
- Wilkins (10/5): Wonderful place, with lots of character - Host was lovely, as were the dogs. And the breakfast! And the bed!
Absolutely wonderful. Host was responsive and very accommodating.
- Carl (9/5): Lovely place in the nicest part of Suffolk - A wonderful place to stay, the location is excellent in the most beautiful part of Suffolk and the house is tucked away on a small narrow lane on top of a hill. What made the place even more wonderful and our stay special was how nice the hosts were. We had a long chat with them, talked about life, politics and it made us both feel really at home. The breakfast was stellar, we firmly agree, beans should not come near a breakfast but black pudding is essential. Nothing at all.
- Maria (10/5): Wonderful stay in the beautiful Suffolk countryside - We loved the airy room with the enormous bathroom attached and the giant, very comfortable, bed. The room has a double aspect with lovely views over the garden. It is wonderfully silent at night, being deep in the Suffolk countryside, so we had a fantastic night's sleep.
The breakfast was generous and delicious and the hosts are very friendly. We ate in the family's charming dining room and our every need was catered for.
The location is great as Hartest is a very pretty village but it is not far at all from Bury. On our last visit to Waldegrave, we tried out the village pub where the food was very good. On this visit, we ventured further afield to Clare.
I cannot fault Waldegrave farm. It was a most pleasant stay and we will definitely be back. It was all good.
- Tatiana (1/5): Very bad - The owner was very welcoming when we arrived, relaxed about where we left our car and flexible with what time we could check in and wanted breakfast. Even though we liked the owner, there was nothing else to like about our stay. The house smelled of wet dog when you walked in, our room was very dirty- filled with cobwebs, dead bugs on the windowsills and in our bed, old/tired furniture and dust everywhere- our room had no lock on the door and so at 2AM we were woken up by someone coming in and turning the light on and off before leaving, loud music played from about 12-2AM and no one around in the morning (within 20 minutes of our agreed breakfast time) before we decided to make an early exit.
For £109 we thought for the reasons above it was extremely overpriced. It’s very sad as it is a beautiful house and property but the facilities and cleanliness were some of the worst we have experienced.
- Gordon (5/5): Passable -
- Simon (8/5): Very good -
- Moira (10/5): A delightful sojourn - All of it
- Diana (9/5): Peaceful and quiet place to stay - Great surprise :)
A very warm welcome from the owner.
Nice spot in the middle of nowhere perfect to rest. no lock on the room door
- Geoff (9/5): Superb - Pleasant rural location with excellent hosts
- John (9/5): A good 4 night stop for a couple of re-enactors doing an event at Kentwell Hall (7 miles away). - If you're planning on staying at Waldegrave Farm, come down to breakfast with a good appetite! You probably won't need much in the way of lunch. Excellent bedroom and bathroom, and a very friendly host. Our 2nd visit and we hope to return. I wouldn't change anything, though the authorities could do with sorting out some of the potholes in the area's roads. If approaching at night, keep a special watch out for deer on the roads.
- Leila (3/5): Don’t stay there! The room is FULL OF BUGS! - The room was clean and the breakfast was good. I had my worst night ever at this place. First of all, the room didn’t have keys so I didn’t feel safe. Second, the wifi was awful! I had no service there and to be able to use my phone I just had the option to connect the wifi but it was so poor and I could only join it in a corner in the toilet. The last and the biggest problem that I had was the BUGS! The room was covered with bugs and so many on my bed!! They were flying! I killed over 150 of them by myself! It was a disaster! I didn’t stay for my second night and I booked another place and they didn’t refund my money for the night I stayed. They were so unfair and I had the worst night ever with them As I didn’t sleep at all!!
- Nya8280 (8/5): Lovely room in a beautiful landscape - It was a lovely room with an en suite, coffee/tea making facilities, TV and beautiful views. The location is very remote but did what I needed which was to get away and be somewhere quiet so I could focus. Although remote and there wasn't any pubs or shops within close walking distance, Bury St Edmunds was only 15 minute drive away.
The host was great and very welcoming. The breakfast was also very nice with warm crossiants, filter coffee (or pot of tea), fresh orange juice, choice of cereals and a full English. The dining room that ate in was beautiful with some absolutely adorable salt and pepper collection. Wasn't so much that I didn't like it I just hadn't been prepared for the room to be within the family home. As a result the check in was a little awkward since I hadn't taken any of it in to account and has to ring on arrival to work out in the dark where I needed to go.
I love dogs, but I also didn't remember seeing anywhere so my welcome by one as I came down in the morning was a little of a surprise. They were well behaved though and generally left me alone after the initial hello.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sue (9/5): I came away more relaxed than when I'd arrived after a long drive. Very restorative. - Beautiful house, and a lovely room - all tucked away for peace and privacy. Huge bedroom with cloud-like double bed, and an equally generous en suite bathroom with large tub. Could have stayed for a week! Nothing to complain about whatsoever. There's even a superb pub a mile away which serves delicious food.
- Scott (6/5): Beautiful Property, it’s like staying at your parents - beautiful house you are staying in the spare room, so be prepared for that
- Howard (9/5): Superb -
- Amanda (9/5): Superb -
- Lisa (10/5): amazing with amazing hosts. - everything!
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - Really nice place and very kind hosts! Didn't realise that there wasn't a shower, which is probably my fault, but something which I would now expect from staying somewhere now
- Rosemary (9/5): Superb -
- Chris (9/5): Wonderful - Location was beautiful and very quiet. Very welcoming and charming host. Room was excellent Nothing
- Marie (6/5): Peaceful place. - Beautiful house. Carpet in the bathroom and not fruits for breakfast.
- Sarah (10/5): Great stay - Thank you for accommodating our bathroom fitter. He had a lovely stay and will definitely stay again when we are next in the area.
- Naomi (8/5): Lovely stay, beautiful location. - Beautiful location, still private although just one room within B&B. Lovely host, Will, who cooked a cracking fry up each morning for breakfast! Only a bath as opposed to shower, perhaps a lock on the door would be handy.
- Suzanne (8/5): Beautiful location, comfy bed, great breakfast! - The hosts were super friendly and really made us feel welcome. The room was huge with a lovely comfortable bed. The location is gorgeous and so nice and quiet! With some very friendly doggos! And what a great spread at breakfast to top it all off!
- Penelope (10/5): Really comfortable and friendly couple - Bothe very good Barking dogs at reception
- sheila (6/5): - Nice house and good decor in our room. Comfortable bed. Sheets not ironed. Toilet flush sluggish and no possibility of a shower. Bath only and with no shower attachment. Breakfast ok but no fruit on offer. Host polite but not exactly a warm welcome. All a bit perfunctory.
- Dave (8/5): First Visitor to Suffolk - Couple of nights away whilst visiting a pretty area. Friendly host with comfortable room and lovely breakfast. Lots to see and do within a short drive - this is an ideal location for visiting the area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful old farmhouse. Warm welcome. Would have appreciated more of a selection for breakfast - no fruit or yogurt offered. Cooked breakfast went down well with other half.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay, beautiful house in the middle of the Suffolk countryside. Our hosts (four legged variety included) were warm, welcoming and made us feel very at home. Our room was wonderful and we had everything we could want for breakfast.
