Guest Reviews
- Waistle (5/5): Good value for money. - Good location for what I needed which was the off shore course so a nice 8 minute walk, bed comfy and clean room Bed and breakfast abit of a stretch as it’s some cereal in the hallway but my fault as I should of looked at reviews
- Martin (6/5): - Landlord was great very welcoming, room was ok, good breakfast selection, free tea and coffee, The tv did not work its almost like it had a very poor connection so it just froze and you could not watch it, the little fridge in the room also did not work, look for the money it was ok, its perfect for work like I was up there fir, would I take my wife probably not, im just been honest, shared bathroom and wc, I can live with that my wife couldn't,
- Paul (1/5): I’ve stayed in much nicer hostels - Unfortunately nothing. The bedding was marked and appeared unwashed with foreign objects on the bedsheet. Biscuits in the room were 4 months out of date. There are two shared toilets on the level I was staying on. You have to wedge yourself in at the side of the toilet before you can close the door. There are also two shared showers. I had to leave after the first night, it was too late to find another place. I had paid for two. I was refused a refund for the night that I didn’t stay.
- Rowan (7/5): -
- Gordon (8/5): -
- Karl (8/5): Great value for money and location - Ideal location to walk into Blyth.
- Fiona (6/5): -
- Richard (6/5): Overnight stay - It fulfilled the purpose of an overnight stay Not realising there no en suite rooms at time of booking caused me anight time problem of toilet visits along a corridor. Had the ensuite situation been more visble on advertising we would have booked elsewhere. Also the breakfast had to be eaten in our room as there was no dining room. Again not seen in the advert.
We understand it is being renovated at the moment, but we feel we should have informed of all this so as to make a better chioce.
- John (9/5): - Good value for money.
- howells (9/5): Happy with my stay - very comfortable - Comfortable bed Everything was good
- Richard (10/5): -
- martyn (8/5): Excellent value BnB - The room was large and comfortable.
The self service continental breakfast was good. More shared facilities
- Merry (10/5): Good for offshore workers - There was great variety in the continental breakfast- this was perfect as had to be down at the dock side at 06:30am for offshore windfarm work every morning
- Paul (7/5): - nice big room and good location The toilet down the hall
- colin (10/5): omg what fantastic value had a great nights sleep and Aidan was super friendly - mugs not little cups plenty of teabags coffee and sugar in jars brilliant idea bed really comfy plug in air freshener great touch breakfast was choice of cereal and activia drinks in fridge help yourself amazing for the price should've brought dressing gown as toilet and shower room down the hall
- James (8/5): -
- Dean (10/5): Short stay, place was ideal for my needs. - Arrived and was greeted by Aiden who gave me a run down of everything and was good to talk with. Nothing all good.
- Peter (8/5): -
- Linda (9/5): Lovely property, friendly staff. Great proximity to where we were attending an event. - Proximity to the town centre No en suite but didn’t detract too much from our stay
- Eileen (9/5): Great Find - Everything!
Good comms before arrival; rearranged check in time easily.
Great location for the town centre.

Good selection of help yourself continental breakfast.
Nice touch of biscuits and sweets in the room.

Would definitely return. Nothing!

- Ryan (10/5): -
- Terence (8/5): Very pleasant - Friendly staff, rooms were as it said 👍👍
- Patricia (8/5): - Large comfortable room. Proper warm blankets for the weather. Well maintained property. Breakfast was extremely basic.
- Lucy (3/5): Not great! Horrible experience and no sleep - Kitchenette was handy and thoughtful of owner however just not in the best location right outside some of the rooms due to noise. Unfortunately the best intentions are there however other guests can ruin this, shared bathroom isn’t great, value isn’t there.
Firstly the listing is misleading with the photos and discription, the rooms are very dark and dingy and not the bright airy the way they look as advertised. The information on shared bathroom is extremely lacking just a small tab to say shared bathroom but nothing more! There are x2 toilets, a sink and x2 very small showers with small sinks inside this is for approximately 7 rooms. The problem with the shared bathrooms is people walking up and down the hall at night to get to them you can hear everything and they was not in the best condition. I booked this stay for a work trip and to just hopefully get a good night sleep however I didn’t get a wink! I honestly would of got better facilities at a campsite and probably better sleep.
There was guests coming back in the middle of the night being extremely loud in the hallway there was also someone up every hour coughing up and clearing flem in the kitchette sink in the hall! Which is very close to the rooms and probably kept everyone up this happened all night! I couldn’t sleep so left early in the morning as I couldn’t bare it any longer! Help yourself breakfast and eat in your room not a breakfast you imagine for a bnb, unfortunately I was a little put of by this by the person who was gozing in the sink all night.
The rooms smell clean but lots of stains on walls and doors and hair in the bed. The bed wasn’t super comfy either cotton bedding wouldn’t go a miss and some better quality cushions. Overall very disappointed for my stay and the room wasn’t the value to match the quality of the stay and facilities. Campsite would I’d given me better value and facilities.
- Renuka (8/5): - Comfortable room. Friendly hosts. Washbasin not private. I couldn't figure out how to switch on the TV in my room.
- Daniel (9/5): - Przytulnie było Ładny taras
- Philip (8/5): -
- Heathcote (9/5): - Central location, friendly host, warm comfortable family room. Kitchenette & bathrooms right outside room. Very quiet. Very steep outside metal staircase to access rooms. Don't know if there is an alternative for people with mobility issues?
- Jamie (8/5): - Privacy Difficult check in
- Neil (8/5): -
- John (10/5): Great good value BnB - Great landlord, great breakfast choice and everything was very well done. In a quiet part of town. Nothing.
- Jamie (10/5): Definitely recommend staying at The Tavern - The room, how close it was to where I was doing my offshore courses
- Renuka (10/5): - Clean, friendly, simple.
- John (7/5): Central to town and ok for a short stay - Basic b and b central to town facilities Communal toilets and shower a bit remote to room. No washbasin in room. Entry via fire escape a bit basic. Some noise from other guests.
- Mrs Coates (7/5): - Value for money ,nice and clean ,owner very nice .Continental breakfast is a bonus ,plenty of choice . Check in needs to made clearer
- Vijay (9/5): Good value for money -
- William Anderson (7/5): Perfect location for my needs - Convenient for my requirements Aidan top guy always fits me in last minute when needed N/A
- Hilary (8/5): Only there for one night. Would use again if toilet mended and perhaps sleep on the sofa. - The breakfast consisted of cereal bars, fruit, bread, butter (out of date but ok), tea, coffee, milk and orange juice.
Fridge/freezer, toaster, cooker, kettle, cutlery, pans etc.
Large L shaped sofa, very comfortable and huge tv. Huge microwave in the kitchen area but no where to plug it in.
The bed was uncomfortable, dipped in the middle and could feel the springs even on the edge of the bed. Having arthritis of the spine, I feel every lump and bump.
The toilet did not flush properly. Cistern did not fill up so had to keep pouring water down the toilet from the bath.
Reported this the next morning, when I was leaving. Was told an engineer/plumber was due that afternoon to fix the problem.
- Jeffrey (8/5): - Great Location
- john (7/5): my friend had to leave after 1 night and was refunded the rest of the money for the stay. - the facilities where good kitchen and bathroom werent in the room so it made it awkward. Only 1 door in the building so the outside stairs were dangerous.
- raquel (10/5): -

- Julian (8/5): Really suited what I needed working in the area for a few days, I would stay again. - No en-suite

- Ady (8/5): -
- Anthony (10/5): -
- Mark (4/5): Won’t stay again - Not much Working man’s digs, shared toilet. Getting in was a problem because of maintenance work.
Had to use back entrance while car was parked round the front. Felt very uneasy in what seemed like a dodgy area.
- Paramjit (8/5): Excellent value for an overnight stay - Room was fine, good facilities Could have done with more plugs for appliances
- Ellis (7/5): - The breakfast was good. Lots of fruit options and yogurt. I like firmer beds.
- Emma (10/5): Great wee place to stay! - Great value for money, travelling for work and was just what I was looking for. Staff were great, warm welcoming and friendly. I had everything I needed for my stay, ample space and facilities were spot on.

Two toilets which is always a bonus
- Simon (8/5): Great value stopover in a quiet part of Blyth. - Great value stopover during a cycle tour. Room was quiet, good choice of breakfast items, shared facilities were clean, choice of takeaways nearby or a few mins walk to Blyth centre. Nothing much really.
- Smith (10/5): My whole 3 nights was great - Every thing great here :) specially Aiden he made me feel so welcome Nothing

- Wilma (8/5): -
- Kieran (10/5): -
- Christine (9/5): Excellent value for money - Excellent facilities and good breakfast
- Kyle (8/5): Mostly great - Loved the comfortable beds and next to a shop, it has a small kitchen area with microwave and breakfast facilities like toaster and kettle with food and a fridge My room kettle leaked and the power cord was short so I had the kettle on top of the map on the desk so it could reach the socket and when the kettle finished it had water all over the paper map

- Francesca (9/5): -
- Victoria (7/5): -
- James (8/5): -
- Henderson (6/5): Good short stay - Friendly service nice room quiet Communal shower and toilet
- Chris (5/5): - A bigger room would have been OK, it felt like the 2 single beds had been squeezed in. The only place to eat our breakfast was sat on our beds. The Tavern was in the ideal place in Blyth to visit our relatives, so we only slept in it.
- Gary (8/5): - The property was very clean and the host was extremely nice.
