• Hynes (7/5): The stay was good but would find another booking next time. - The People were very nice and accommodating. Had detailed instructions. Our door lock was not easy to work and we gave up on it, Still felt safe. We did not like the shared bathrooms and they were down the hall. Thankfully there were two of them. • Jose Antonio (5/5): Gente encantadora y un pésimo marketing - Desayuno bueno y gente muy amable No queda claro en absoluto que el alojamiento tiene baño compartido y genera dudas si es intencionado. Lo cual parece un error de manual ya que si llegas allí equivocado jamas lo recomendarás a otras personas. El alojamiento es muy muy ruidoso, lo cual hace realamente dificil dormir a muchas personas.

La posizione è comoda per visitare la città, ma la zona non è bella, marciapiedi con aiuole piene di cartacce e bottiglie vuote di birra. GùLa camera affacccia sulla strada dove c'è gente che urla e strombazza clacson a mezzanotte ed oltre. Purtroppo per un mio errore ho prenotato una delle 4 camere con bagno condiviso. I bagni condivisi erano 2: uno accettabile ed abbastanza ampio, il secondo piccolissimo e scomodo, 1,5 max per 1,5. Colazione buona: buonissimo il pane e le brioches, sempre freschissimi. La parte salata un pò povera: in due quattro fettine di salame, due pezzettini di formaggio e qualche pomodorino.... Il tutto servito su un tavolo unico con 6 sedie ( 4 camere da due ospiti ciascuna) marmellate in condivisione, ........ Ultima pecca: camere al secondo piano e su quattro giorno di permanenza l'ascensore ha funzionato solo una parte del primo giorno. Peccato questi difetti perchè ribadisco che Cristina è veramente brava e molto disponibile.

They even created daily plans and recommended places to visit, which made our trip so much easier and more enjoyable. It really felt like they made it their mission to ensure we had the best time possible. Another highlight was the wonderful breakfast served each morning – fresh, delicious, and the perfect way to start the day. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would definitely return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing, well-organized, and memorable holiday!
• Cosmo (10/5): Great stay near city center - Rob cordially welcomed us to B&B 5 Balconies even though we arrived late at night. We stayed in a very nice room, but shared two bathrooms with the other three rooms, which was not a problem because they were well equipped and tidy. The B&B provides an excellent breakfast with local bread and fresh fruit and the owners make sure to provide a pastry to your preferences. They also gave us some very nice recommendations for food and drinks around Catania. We can look back on an excellent four night stay and definitely recommend this bed and breakfast, which we found offers a fantastic quality for the price.

• Camilla Berg (10/5): Hyggeligt B&B nær centrum - Fint B&B, ligger tæt på spisesteder og centrum. Den lokale busstation er 5 min. væk og der er gåafstand til det meste. Værten er super sød og giver dig et kort over byen og viser hvor de forskellige seværdigheder er. Han er utrolig hjælpsom og deler gerne ud af hans viden om de forskellige steder/byer der skal opleves og hvordan man nemmest kommer frem og hvor der er godt at spise m.m. Internettet virkede upåklageligt og man får frisk morgenmad hver dag, lige efter hvad man kunne ønske sig. Fri adgang til koldt vand, kaffe, te og frugt. Husk ørepropper, da der er en del støj fra vejen. Catania er simpelthen en fantastisk by.

The host is welcoming, hospitable and warm, the place is beautifully decorated and uniquely furnished, location is convenient and the breakfast dots the i. Also, we got all this for an affordable price. Rather than just saying «10/10, would recommend», we have also booked it again!

The apartment was spotless, beautifully maintained, and the bed was one of the most comfortable we’ve ever slept in. He went above and beyond to help us—even with things that had nothing to do with the accommodation. His kindness, attention to detail, and genuine care made our trip unforgettable. • Karen (10/5): If you like an old school b & b with an exceptional host, look no further. - The property was just what you would expect in an old city. No modern conveniences, but very homey and comfortable. The property was in the heart of Catania and near everything. Rob was very informative and helpful. Great breakfast. Balcony was fantastic. I cannot think of anything that l didn’t like except the shared bathroom, but we knew that ahead of time. There are 2 bathrooms for 4 guest rooms, so it really was not a problem.

• Carole (10/5): - The location was ideal, close to all important sites in Catania. Also very convenient to book tours to Etna, Taormina, Syracuse, etc and close to the airport, bus and train stations. What stood out mostly about our stay was the hospitality and kindness of the host Rob as well as a great personalized breakfast. Rob was always available and seemed genuinely happy to answer our questions on places to visit. When we arrived , he sat down with us and gave us a map of Catania with recommendations on where to eat and what to visit. We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended our original 3 night stay to 4 and even returned an extra 3 nights at the end of our tour in Sicile. We highly recommend 5 Balcony.
• Kubicova (10/5): We had a wonderful time here and would love to come back if we have the opportunity. - Rob and Christina are the soul of this beautiful place. Despite some shared spaces, my partner and I felt at home and welcomed. They both provided us with all the information we needed not only about Catania but also other interesting places in Sicily. The location of the accommodation is perfect for exploring Catania. We appreciated the balcony that each room has the most. Watching the evening bustle of the city below us with a glass of Sicilian wine was fascinating. If we ever return to Catania, we will not hesitate to contact Rob and Christina again. The accommodation is located in the historic center of Catania on a fairly busy street with traffic that doesn't stop even at night. It's fascinating to watch and traffic is an inherent part of Sicily, however, if you are a light sleeper, I recommend bringing earplugs.

Breakfast is personalized - we had yogurt, fruit and cornettos. Another couple was served cheese and charcuterie. Rooms are very comfortable. Bathrooms are shared. 5balconi is in a very authentic area. Arriving at night we thought we had wandered onto a Fellini set. Catania is a walkable city and 5balconi is great for those who enjoy getting involved in a place, not just touring. The best pizza in Sicily is two blocks away. Cristina or Rob will point the way.

• Luis (10/5): Incredible, relaxing, welcoming. - Absolutely recommend this beautiful place! Cristina and Rob were amazing and beyond welcoming. We arrived late at night and Cristina was in contact with us to organise being at the accomodation to assist us getting settled and checked in. The rooms are cute and quaint with a lovely antique character and charm. For breakfast you have an array of choice from seasonal fruit, yoghurt, to fresh bread, cheese and slice meat. The road outside is very busy and may disrupt light sleepers but my partner and I were not disturbed by the noise at all. Cristina and Rob take the time to mark on a map sights to see and places to eat and drink (we tried almost all of them and they were great recommendations). Their experience of running a BnB for 20 years definitely shows and we would definitely stay again!

• Tim (10/5): - Rob and Christina are brilliant. Rob is a great chap. Affable, considered and considering with a generous heart and stupendous taste in music. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the good, the bad and the rip off in the vicinity; straying from his wisdom is inadvisable. He and Christina have anecdotes aplenty, and Christina in full flow is a sight to behold - a sister cat - her eyes glow. We had an extended stay, so, we had a good look at Rob and Christina's operation and found fault difficult to locate. Everything was cool (It is hot in Catania), clean and up to spec. The rooms are well decorated and appointed with curious photographs of bygone Sicilian times. The eponymous balconies afford a view to the bustling street of car horns, gesticulating arms and convenience store blues. You can sit on the balcony and watch a version of reality unfold and be perfectly content it authentic. The place has a beguiling antiquity, its peeling facades sun brushed in decaying charm, marbled palaces inside, though litter on the streets is problematic and needs addressing. Five Balconi is well located, a short walk from a castle and a fistful of Trattoria. Listen to Rob/Christina, we ventured beyond their advice once and came a cropper. Just think Rob/Christina know best and your holiday will be much improved. I dropped Rob's name at 'Da Antonio' and miraculously got a table without a reservation. We loved Catania and we loved our stay at 5 Balconi with Rob and Christina.

This place is really nice for a short but also a longer stay, since the location is really good and the host is really helpful and friendly!

• Villa (10/5): Charming and friendly - A very charming place, I felt at home and welcomed straight away. The host, Cristina, is very attentive and genuinely friendly. Her fabulous breakfast was a great way to start the day. I had never stayed in a B&B before, but 5 Balconi must be the best of the best. I also loved the nice vintage decor. The room, bathroom, and kitchen were all sparkling clean.
• 625kathc (10/5): Charming, quirky and characterful - We found 5 Balconi by happy accident after booking into a nearby holiday let which turned out to be less than perfect. We turned up at the door of 5 Balconi and were met by Rob, who was so friendly and helpful - he offered us a room and showed us round, made sure we were happy with the facilities, and generally rescued what would otherwise have been a fairly dire stay in Catania. The B&B is charming, quirky and characterful, as are the owners! Our high-ceilinged room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable - the air conditioning was highly efficient. Rob gave us loads of recommendations for places to visit and to eat - it was like staying with friends who know the city inside out. Highly recommended - thanks so much Rob and Cristina

• Andreas (10/5): B&B which feels like a home - Upon arrival, the host sits down with you to design your breakfast and give you valuable advice around town. Very knowledgeable, follow the restaurant recommendations! Breakfast was a real treat, with fresh bread from the bakery. The shared-bathroom situation (two are available, both with showers) was not a problem at all. Our room faced the busy street, with some car noise even at night. Surprisingly, we were not bothered by it. Heavy shutters at the balcony helped and also made the room completely dark. We had a great stay all around!

Room was perfect, good bed, good working airconditioning & a balcony 👍 There is one big bathroom with a bath and a toilet & one smaller bathroom with a shower & a toilet. Hairdryer was working perfectly 👌 Location is perfect! It's noisy outside, but your right next to the center, that's Italy 🤷‍♀️ I slept good 😊

• Andrew (9/5): Amazing location with amazing host - Rob was a fantastic host who gave us awesome recommendations for what to do and where to eat not only in Catania but all over the east coast of Sicily. The location is amazing (1 block from the castle and a 10-15 minute walk from almost everything else in downtown Catania). The breakfast was fantastic. It should be noted that the shared bathrooms were not an issue at all while we stayed at the B&B; that is, we were always able to access the bathroom/shower whenever we needed it. The check-in process could have been smoother (but this was made harder but us not having cell service to contact the property manager when we arrived for check-in). The parking near the B&B can be a little bit hit-or-miss; we had difficulty parking near the B&B on a Saturday night (there is lots of nightlife nearby which meant more cars parked on the side streets), but we easily found street parking 1 block away from the hostel on Sunday afternoon.

• winebob59 (10/5): Top notch bed & breakfast in Catania - A fantastic small bed & breakfast located within easy walking distance to all central spots of interest in Catania. The very welcoming and vivacious hosts Cristina and Rob made us feel as if we were staying with friends, and provided a wealth of local intel to enhance our visit on many levels. Breakfast was spot on with fresh fruits, yogurt, delicious bread, cereals, and coffee or tea as requested. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable with a small balcony overlooking the bustling street below, but perfectly quiet when closed up for a lengthy rest. A casual, fun vibe and a most enjoyable experience enhanced by the very accommodating hostess and host. Highly recommended!

• Wai Hung (8/5): Highly recommended! - My hosts Rob & Cristina are incredible! Extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the local areas. Great advice & clear instructions on what to see, where to eat & how to go. And they will go out of their ways to try to provide assistance as far as possible. I had an ankle sprain & stayed indoors the whole day on my last day in Catania. Rob bought me pizza for dinner & Cristina helped me get a taxi to the airport the next day. I cannot thank them enough. Grazie mille! Location wise, 5 Balconi is just 5-10 mins away from the fish market, Piazza del Duomo, and the Alibus stop (for the Airport). All the major sights are also within walking distance. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. Excellent! Note that there are two bathrooms to be shared by guests & there is some street noise. Ear plugs are provided on-site. All in all, HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended!
• François (8/5): Une adresse de charme avec un excellent accueil. - Nous avons apprécié l'excellent accueil de Rob qui nous a offert à notre arrivée une boisson de bienvenue. Rob est très serviable, il a pris le temps de nous présenter sa ville (bien mieux que l'Office de tourisme), ses bonnes adresses et les sites à visiter. Il nous a laissé le choix entre deux chambres. Il a pris soin de recueillir nos préférences pour le petit déjeuner qui était excellent. Une adresse de charme pourvue d'un ascenseur. Seul inconvénient : le samedi la rue est assez bruyante.

They even gave us a bigger room because it was available :) We will definitely plan to stay here again and tell the same to our friends visiting Catania. Thank you Rob and Cristina!
