Guest Reviews
- Brown (9/5): - Friendly staff, clean tidy room and very good facilities for self catering Nothing

- Martin (7/5): -
- Julie (7/5): Ideal for NC500 - Good location, handy to have bar and food available. Lots of parking. Very small and dated room but it was clean with comfortable beds and good shower.
- Knowlton (10/5): - Alison was so kind and friendly.
- Noelene (9/5): -
- craig (10/5): - nice and cosy
- Roger (9/5): -
- Sharen (5/5): Close to A9, TV didn't work, inconsistent wifi, poor value for money - Ensuite Rubbish not collected from kitchen on our first day. TV would only play BBC on day 1 and nothing on day 2 when more people arrived. Couldn't get any wifi on day 2. No heating in bathroom, so couldn't dry towels and very cold when you got out of the shower. Room very small, not really enough room for both of us.
- Stephen (9/5): -
- Axel (9/5): -
- Karl (8/5): - I had to have a change of room due to a problem with my original booking. I was moved into a bigger room. Facilities were great. The bed was very comfortable. I didn't avail myself of the other facilities that may have been available. Overall happy with my stay.
- Maude (7/5): - L'hotel est situé au milieu d'un charmant village et possède un parking. De plus le restaurant sur place est agreable et la nourriture est bonne. Les matelas etaient très inconfortables et l'eclairage de la chambre désagréable
- Conroy (4/5): -
- Miranda (6/5): - Well stocked kitchen. Bathroom not in room but still private. Good stay
- Margaret (9/5): - Our room was nice. We could look out our window and see our car parked across the road. We have no complaints what-so-ever! Everything was fine
- Wendy (7/5): Great for a one night stay. - NC500 burger was very tasty. Nice pint of beer. Friendly staff. Own entry and exit to the room was very handy. No need to go via the bar. Room was small but had everything you needed. Plenty of parking. Situated next to a quaint harbour and on the NC500 for getting about.
Good amount of self catering equipment available. Bathroom was separate to the room, which was okay, as there were no other occupants (or so we were told) but it was very cold and a little exposed to neighbours when the lights were on.
Had there been other occupants, opening and shutting the door, with clanking keys, may have caused some annoyance!
- Cathy (10/5): - Loved Bannockburn. The restaurant and pub were wonderful with fantastic food and drinks. East to walk to the harbour and take pictures at the bridge.
- Pickard (9/5): Great host. - Friendly staff in pub downstairs. Value for money. Lovely location. Some noise from pub below but stopped around 10pm.
- gaita (7/5): Just ok for a night stay. - It was in the price range we were looking for. No frills- included parking and that’s it. The walls were paper thin we heard everything that was going on next to us and it was a family with kids and the dad kept scolding them loudly- it was very annoying. More the adults than the soft laugh of the kids. We heard also the other people on the other side when they got a late night call. We heard all the cars driving by and it’s next to the main drag- so it was noisy. The bathroom was accross the open hall so we had to “be decent” to cross the hall to open the bathroom. It was very clean though. The beds need a redo. The one was super soft - as in collapsed in- the other one (mine) was ok I lucked out!. Overall just ok for one night. No food was provided. A kettle and some instant coffee was available in the room.
- jeff (6/5): Very disappointing - Clean Closed on arrival. I.e. the inn was actually closed. Very poor access to rooms. Guests had to a climb an external fore escape to reach the first floor.
- Angus (9/5): -
- Louis (8/5): Stunning small village to stay with the river and hills at the back and the seaside at the front. - Centrally located within walking distance from the railway station. Good size family room with seating area and table. Kitchen had most things you needed. Really enjoyed the garden area out back. Would suggest perhaps a fold away table and chairs in the kitchen? Steep stairs to climb with bags to reach our room. We had dinner there which was in a lovely real old feel restaurant. Food was great we felt portions rather small.
- Serena (7/5): -
- David (10/5): -
- Alanah (5/5): - Location was great for us. A little strange that they walked us through behind the bar to go to the other side. But otherwise it was good. The mattresses were ok.
- Helen (10/5): -
- Georgiana (10/5): -
- Darren (8/5): Nice. - Location was good. Above a pub which made having dinner easy….nice people running it. -
- Graeme (8/5): Otherwise very happy with the hospitality. - Beds were small and narrow especially for a tall person and soft not firm mattress
- Megan (10/5): -
- Maclean (2/5): - Nothing Everything
- Thatcher (7/5): - Localisation et chambre familiale Ce n’est pas la faute de l’hôtel mais nous sommes tombés sur des voisins très bruyants et je n’ai pas dormi de la nuit… les murs entre les chambres sont très fins
- Blair (10/5): Great stay ,I would definitely go back. - Staff very frendly especilly the young girls in the bar,she is a credit to the owner. No breakfast available, but went around to the Spar for hot rolls and coffee so worked out ok.
- Neil (8/5): Very good -
- Amy (8/5): - Upon arrival, the rooms had reserved parking in the lot, so parking was easy but it was unclear where to check in as the lower level of the building is a pub and there were no specific instructions given. The apartment was clean and spacious with comfortable beds and a nice bathroom. Apartment is accessed by an external metal staircase from the pub garden.
- Ashish (5/5): Passable -
- Nicole (8/5): Very good -
- Zupanc (10/5): Exceptional -

- Victoria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicola (5/5): Passable -
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - Location was great with parking. Place is clean and comfy and our room had a new ensuite which we weren't expecting so it was a nice surprise. There's a kitchen available which I can see being handy for people and the outdoor space looks lovely, which I can imagine is great when the sun is out. The host was friendly as well.
We stayed in for food which was good, with the restaurant having a lovely atmosphere.
All in all, room are basic but for the price, it's a bargain and we'd recommend. Nothing.
- Daryl (7/5): Good - Nothing
- Roberto (8/5): Very good - In general very nice. We ate at the resaturant, and the food was Home made and delicious. The cook/owner ( didn't catch her name) was really friendly as was the waitress. Was a bit loud in the bar below, but I was so tired i fell asleep immediately.
- Dianne (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Simon (5/5): Passable - Not much.... We arrived at 7:30pm found it difficult to get in... There wasn't a restaurant open anywhere after 7:45 on a Monday !
- Susan (8/5): Very good - Good location
Clean
Friendly host
- Colin (7/5): Good stay. Value for money. - Good place to stay if you have a tight budget. Good kitchen and bathroom facilities. Property has recently undergone an upgrade and there are a few glitches to sort out which is understandable. TV controls were too difficult to operate. We could not get an internet connection. Internet is extremely important for us especially when travelling. Our room was adjacent to the main North South highway and a little bit noisy in the morning. Recommend ear plugs.
- Millar (7/5): Good - Great location after long hike. Room was being decorated
- Mark (8/5): Very good - Good location.
Clean and comfortable.
The food in the pub opposite was OK.
- Roger (9/5): A great place to stay - Great place for an overnight stop on the north coast 500. Good bar and restaurant too
- Adrienne (9/5): Great stay - We had a great night sleep, fully equipped kitchen, lovely food. The pizza is fabulous! Great location on the A9.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jessica (9/5): Superb -
- Roelof (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniella (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julianne (4/5): Fair but value for money. Fab for budget holiday, not for us. - Clean Under refurbishment. Rooms very dated and in need of decoration. Noisy when pub closed and owners went to their accommodation which was above us and we could hear them walking around. On the main road.
- Ejbluefolds (6/5): Adequate for an overnight stay - Comfortable chair and bed. Use of the kitchen. Room not ensuite and no breakfast.
- Serhii (8/5): Very good -
- Jochen (8/5): Very good -
- Rob (9/5): Had a great time at the Bannockburn Inn - Room was comfortable and cosy, staff were welcoming and friendly, all making for a great stay. Nothing really. Was a shared bathroom but as I was the only person in the wing that made no difference at all
- Amer (10/5): A nice place to stop for a night, or more - Nice room and bar
- Neil (7/5): Good - Highly recommend the burger in the restaurant. ideally located for the NC500. Good hosts.
- Hana (10/5): Exceptional - We arrived after 9pm and were able to check in which was very nice. Room was warm and clean and wifi worked well. Bathroom was clean. Place was easy to find
- Bicyclogue (7/5): Clean room in a shared apartment - Clean room in an apartment with two other rooms. Close to the center of town, and there is a bar downstairs. There is a kitchen which is shared with the other guests. The other guests in the apartment were very quiet but your experience may be different depending on who you share the apartment with.
- Mark (8/5): Good facilities nice people. -
- Charlene (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jean (9/5): Great overnight stay, excellent value - Friendly, excellent value, easy to find
- Michele (7/5): Good value for money - Like it and had a good night sleep Did not understand there was no shutter in front of the bathroom window
- Jane (8/5): Very good -
- Phil (4/5): Don't expect anything and you won't be disappointed. - Only place available to stay after driving for seven hours. Drove 10 miles back the other way to have something to eat. A "locals" pub, nothing more. No breakfast, had to pay double for the family room so we could have a private bathroom. Taps on sink need attention, water pressure issues. Poor shower. Extremely overpriced hostel basically. Keep driving past.
- Millar (10/5): Exceptional - Idea location for John O Groats trail stopover
- David (8/5): Very good -
- John (7/5): Good -
- Carol (9/5): Superb - Really good to be able to use the kitchen facilities and the pub food was also good.
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nikki (10/5): Nc500 trip - We liked the fact our 2 rooms had a little kitchen ect like oir own wee section or wing was unusual but was a very nice touch x Nothing at all
- Patrick (5/5): Passable - The host was nice and welcoming The kitchen was very dirty and the knives were not sharp at all.
- G (8/5): Stopped here during LEJOG - Helpful staff , nice pub with great food attached
- kim (8/5): - Very small kitchen n 2 rooms to share a bathroom..but we had 3 rooms sharing that day
- Leonhard (9/5): Superb - .perfect place and Pub and Restaurant
- Anonymous (9/5): Room at the inn. - Great positioning within the village. Easy access and parking. Room, bathroom and kitchen were very good. Everything clean and working. Douvet was too high a tog value for summer. !
- Geraldine (7/5): Good - Great location, tavern served good food for dinner, very convenient. Liked having access to a shared kitchen. We couldn’t get the WiFi to work.
- Maurits (9/5): Superb - We had two rooms on the same floors. Kitchen was at our disposal and appeared to be very well equipped.
- Shaun (3/5): Very poor has we was never informed that there was no food I:e the place was closed apart from the rooms. They advertise - The way out of the door The garden was nice
- Siemens (9/5): Superb -
- Judith (9/5): A Highlight to meet such great people and feel at home. Will visit again. - It was an excellent choice we made here. This is of course an Inn and not a 5 Star Hotel, but the owner (namens Alison) is not only one of the funniest storytellers I have ever met and a great Cook (you have to try her Pizza !!), but has been of extraordinary help in a very unfortunate situation.
The rooms were very tidy & clean. Same for bathroom and kitchen. Beds very comfortable.
Difficult to get Internet or access to phone, but that was one of the things we had trouble with in the area overall.
To note: we slept above the pub, but as of ~10 or 11 pm no noises to be heard anymore. Thus all good. Nothing. If we ever come back we will make sure to visit Alison and stay over night.
- william (8/5): - Great friendly hotel with good food in a great location
- Wendy (10/5): Fantastic Inn. Highly recommend - Friendly and welcoming owner-run Inn.
Good clean rooms, nice size. Plenty space for the 3 of us.
Restaurant was good. Nice choice of food, catering for kids, vege etc.
Area is lovely. We walked down to the river, and thru the town. The Inn is right on the main road. Although convenient, the lorries etc can be heard all night.
- Richard (10/5): Clean comfy and good value - The landlord 😉 Leaving
- Mike (10/5): Excellent as usual. No complaints whatsoever. See you next year. -
- Isabelle (8/5): Convenient location, good access to self-catering facilities, good shower - Access to a self catering kitchen - hob worked well. Good access to fridge. Table and chairs and TV in room. Large and clean bathroom with good shower. TV couldn't get ITV
Kitchen could be better stocked.
- Alison (7/5): Good -
