We expected a small room so we were very surprised that the room size was of adequate size with a generous bathroom. We found the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had dinner and breakfast and the food was lovely. There is a easy walk to the village which is very pretty. Worth the visit.

Hotel staff was helpful on what to do in the area (and warned us of a bridge that was out). Not far from many Speyside distilleries.
andy (6/5): Didn't quite meet expectations. - The hotel room had excellent sea view. The hotel itself lacked charm or character. The decor felt tired and unappealing. It felt more like a guesthouse than a hotel. The bar area and dining experience lacked atmosphere. The sea views from the dining room were indeed great, but the dining room itself felt more like a canteen. The food was fine. We ate there for breakfast and dinner and no complaints there. A short walk out of the hotel to a footpath leading into town with good views.

George (10/5): Well worth a stay! - A surprise two night stay to celebrate my wifes birthday. Room had lovely views of the Moray Firth and beach. Likewise the restaurant had fantastic sea views. Good Breakfast selection and restaurant menu was excellent with good quality locally produced fresh food. The Cullen Skink to die for! A nice quiet and picturesque path leads from the hotel to the town of Cullen.

Anthony (8/5): Good hotel but needs to address a few issues. - The hotel is well situated and the staff were very helpful. Our room had a very comfortable bed and seemed to have been recently renovated & decorated. There was a table with two comfy chairs looking out to sea which we enjoyed. However the electrics had not been adapted fully to accommodate the renovations meaning there was only one useable socket. The plumbing in the en-suite had also not been brought up to date meaning the toilet was difficult to flush and took a long time to fill up, The door handle easily jammed too - we did report these things. Updating the ensuite and sorting out electrical sockets would make such a difference. The food was actually very good but would recommend avoiding the expensive 30 day steak, I ordered medium/rare and it came very well done. The hotel needs to tweak a few things to make what is essentially a nice place to stay into what people expect these days.

John (8/5): What a view - The hotel has has a bit of a makeover in the rooms and they are very good the food is amazing and the prices are a bit lower than the were on a previous stay staff were friendly and provided excellent service the only slight fault in my stay was the room curtains do not cover the window and the two large lights in the car park make it difficult to sleep with the amount of light coming into this particular room. other than that it was a great stay to be recomended to others

Elizabeth (10/5): Really pleasant - will be back - We had a really pleasant stay at Cullen, the area is beautiful and we were able to go for excellent walks from the hotel. The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful and always had time for us. We didn’t choose a room with a view but when you have the great view for breakfast and dinner this was fine for us. The room had everything we needed and though a small twin the way it was laid out gave us lots of space and for the price we paid we were impressed. We will be back, there is more to explore.
Gillian (8/5): - This hotel is looking very "tired" and the exterior could be more attractive. Although the evening menu was fine for fisheaters, most of the other options were "OK" and limited for the price charged. The shower did not work on arrival day although this was remedied within the hour (too late for our dinner booking though!) Had a memorable visit some years ago, but was slightly disappointed in the property,

Mark (8/5): - Beautiful hotel with amazing views. We stayed two nights and loved that fact it’s pet friendly. Check in - nice and easy. Really friendly young man behind the reception desk. Very helpful. Evening meal - We ate in the main bar (pet friendly) on the first night. Same guy that was on reception was working behind the bar. Him and his female colleague very attentive. Found the price a little expensive, I had scampi just under £20 for 5 bits of monkfish scampi and fresh home cooked chips. Partner has fish pie. Cheese, whisky and oatcakes around £10 was again expensive but we’re away for a well earned break so we relaxed and enjoyed. Breakfast - lovely both mornings. Nice member of staff. Lunch - Cullen Skink soup was lovely. Room - nice, clean and a good size. Bathroom with walk in shower, perfect. The shower was noisy but a good shower. Now the only downside The walls are thin. We heard the folk on the room next to use talking. They checked out and a new couple stayed the Saturday night. They had a domestic, tv loud, swearing and arguing. This woke me at 1245 and continues for what felt like hours, someone then left the room but arrived back and continued to argue. When we checked out we mentioned this to be told we should’ve went down and complained. I sure as hell wasn’t going out my room at 2am. They would’ve known it was us. Over all - lovely hotel. Would go back and will book again sometime soon.

Colin (8/5): Great location - Overall we had a good stay and the staff were mostly very helpful. The hotel location is excellent with outstanding views. We were in the “best” room in the hotel which was fairly spacious with an excellent outlook but the furnishings were a bit IKEA in style. The seats in the turret area were not at all comfortable. We had a concerning issue with the cold water. On the second evening it ran a very dirty brown grey. I reported it to the young lady in the bar as no one else was around and she offered a jug of water but even that had a heavy chlorinated taste. Although we were asked about it at breakfast by the lady and she intimidated it had been reported to the manager no one seemed particularly concerned even though prior to that we had used the same source to drink and fill kettle etc. This was a bit of a concern. We ate one evening in the hotel. The food was fine and the views again fantastic but it is pricey and the restaurant has no real atmosphere and is very barren and echoey. The hotel has great potential but could certainly do a bit more to create a better experience

Fraser (6/5): Tired hotel in need of a make-over - Second time here within last couple of months. The hotel is rather tired and in need of a major overhaul.Especially the rooms. Had evening dinner in the conservatory overlooking the sea. Lovely view, but it's a bit soul-less. The Cullen Skink starter (award winning) was rather tasteless this time. Very creamy, but as if it wasn't cooked in any stock & the bread roll was rock hard at one side & roasting hot as if it was a stale roll, heated up in the microwave. The blade of beef & veg though was brilliant. Very tasty. At this point however, I would like to point out , the staff couldn't have been nicer or more attentive. A real credit to the place. I paid £99 for the room, which I have to say was very tired, old furniture, and old bed and a very small TV on the wall. Very small indeed.As the bar had no TV and no customers, also a soul-less place, I headed to the room, but it's not great for sitting watching TV. Overall, £99 for that room with meal on top I wouldn't hurry back. Not great for the money I'm afraid. Staff are brilliant though.

We had a beautiful view of the bay and the bed was comfortable. The hallways to the rooms are very shoddy and badly need refurbished. The hotel was definitely not as nice as i had imagined it would be. If it wasn't for the excellent staff I am unsure I would stay again.
