- Scott (8/5): - We were initially perplexed, thinking this place was adjacent to Bar Harbor. Thank goodness it isnt. Peaceful and away from the maddening crowds of BH. If you like lots of people, crowded parking, shops and restaurants within walking distance, this place isn't for you. Ehat we found was local hospitality, great restaurants in small towns. Our visits to eastern parks were crowd free,. Vs. main Acadia park, which was overrun. Wont say where we went, you'll have to ask the host of Acadia Bay.

Acadia Bay Inn in Sullivan, Maine is the kind of place that stays in your heart long after you leave. Nestled right on the water, this charming B&B offers a peaceful escape with breathtaking views of the bay and the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like family. The private shelling beach was an absolute highlight-especially at low tide, when the shore becomes a treasure trove of tiny shells and sea glass. Every morning started with delicious homemade breakfast, enjoyed inside the cozy dining area or back patio overlooking the lawn. French-pressed coffee was the perfect touch and made with care. The back lawn is a dream for watching the sunrise, daydreaming or reading a good book. The rooms are thoughtfully decorated, with comfy beds that made it hard to get up in the morning. And the BEST part? Hosts Matt and Nicole - they're warm, gracious, and truly go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. About a 20-30 minute drive either way to Acadia Nat’l Park. A few local restaurants within 10 min drive. You should notify them of any food allergies ahead of time as breakfast is just one option- what Nicole cooks 😊. Its lovely but if you are not an egg or gluten person you’d have issues. Cocktails wine and beer available for purchase. Matt is the bartender and he loves serving Fench Press coffee.

- RODNEY (10/5): - We had a fantastic stay at Acadia Bay Inn. It’s a gorgeous old home, built in the 1880’s. The period décor is in keeping with the original personality of the home. The view from the veranda was spectacular. Our bedroom was perfect, but we spent most of our time at the inn on the veranda. Coffee and breakfast in the mornings and wine in the afternoons and evenings. Nicole and Matt are super hosts. They are very engaging and enjoyable to be around. Matt is a great source of area information and history. Nicole created lovely breakfasts that were as delicious as they were beautiful. We enjoyed them each morning on the veranda soaking in the view of the bay. We are hoping for a return to Acadia Bay Inn with friends and family.

We had a gourmet cooked breakfast every morning on the porch overlooking the water. He innkeepers are very nice people and go out of their way to accommodate everyone. I have a gluten allergy and my breakfast was gluten-free every morning. The end is far enough away from Bar Harbor to get away from the hustle and bustle and close enough to be a part of it if you choose. We would definitely stay here again. This is quite the private getaway.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was such an unexpected gem! Hands down the most beautiful, tranquil place in the area. Matt and Nicole were amazing hosts. The inn has 7 rooms and yet was incredibly quiet. Our room was the smallest (we booked late and luckily got the last room in the inn.) Despite being the smallest, it was still spacious and had a nice shared patio that looked out over the front side of the inn. Most of the other rooms look out over the water and have spectacular views of Cadillac mountain, Frenchman Bay, sailboats and calm water. The sunsets were spectacular. We have traveled all over the world but this was such a wonderful slice of heaven. The breakfasts were outstanding - much heartier than the usual B&B fare. We had a mushroom sausage egg strata the first day, wuth french pressed coffee. The next morning was scrambled eggs, ham and a delicious potato casserole. Our third morning was lemon ricotta pancakes with a homemade wild blueberry sauce. All were delicious. This was our base and we spent our time in the park for hiking, Bar Harbor for lunch and shopping, Ellsworth and Trenton for evening dining. Enjoy! You won’t be sorry.

The breakfast was delicious and enjoyable (we got to eat on the porch). It was clean and comfortable. Located in more of a rural area so really great for relaxing but not a lot of great food options in close proximity. We would stay again.

The property has access to a gorgeous view of the islands and the bay, which you can access any time during your stay, as well as breakfast every morning. Speaking of which, Nicole's breakfast is an absolute treat. Matt is very helpful with local restaurant recommendations and itinerary if you need it. The inn is about 30 minute drive from Mt. Desert Island and 20 minute from Bar Harbor. It provides the perfect relief from crowds if you're looking for a more quiet stay. I would definitely stay there again in the future!

There is only one thing I would tell everyone is that the shower water is not Hot enough for me but my husband said he was good with it. Other than that is was a very pleasant stay! To sit on our balcony at night and see the Milky Way directly overhead was a wonderful experience ... and it was topped off with a shooting star! The proprietors, Angie and Todd, couldn't have been more accommodating. Above and beyond ... we had to be on the road early to head back home, and we found breakfast bags and coffee cups at our door before we even got up! Quite a surprise and a wonderful treat! Todd is quite the cook! I can sum it up by saying that we were treated like royalty and welcomed as friends. I would love to go back!

The breakfast was so tasty and served with a fantastic view. The location was perfect for us, we did not want to in crowded Bar Harbor and Sullivan provided the relaxing, quiet time we were looking for in addition to some great restaurants and bars. The grounds were well cared for. Tasty wine, beer, and cocktails were offered to those taking in the views on the lawn and porch in the afternoon/evenings.

This beautiful inn lures you back from the busyness of seeing the sites, and invites you to delight yourself in the quiet beauty of a private balcony view of Frenchman's Bay and the idyllic full view of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. If you can't reserve a bay view room, the property has multiple bay view sitting areas: within the lower level dining area, on the covered porch, and on the lawn. A small private beach is also accessible for quiet walks and talks or shell and sea glass seeking. Local loons frequent the waters near the shore, and a bald eagle appears regularly in particular nearby trees. In the bay, several local lobster boats rock next to their buoys, waiting for the lobstermen to begin their morning or evening runs to check the traps. If you're there when it happens and you're being watchful, you can glimpse the life of lobstering in Maine, as the lobstermen row quietly out to their boats, and begin the day's work. When the boats return with their catch, it's possible that you will see the quick transfer of the trapped lobster to the deck of a speed boat bound for Bar Harbor, where it will become today's lunch or dinner for a tourist like you or me! Acadia Bay Inn is not just a place to crash for the night; it's a place to enjoy for its tranquil and refreshing atmosphere. And the hosts, Todd & Angie, will do everything possible to make your stay delightful!

The inn is an easy drive from Bar Harbor as well as Acadia National Park. Would definitely stay here again if our travels take us in that direction.
