Guest Reviews
- jo (10/5): - Lovely couple that host the B &B were so nice and took great care of us. The room was spacious and full of light with many windows and yet private. Breakfast was fantastic and filling.
The countryside around the home was breathtaking and remote, yet close to pubs and larger cities.
- Colin (10/5): Wonderful host – buy some of Len’s honey - A great stay. Away from it all authentic in the middle-of-nowhere stay, with only 6 miles from Woodbridge. Len excelled with making us feel absolutely at home. A wonderful host. Fascinating story about the farm buildings, his beekeeping, and life in general. A wonderful host. Breakfast was excellent, Barbara doing a great job in the kitchen.
We found a great route from the local village by the river into Woodbridge.
If you want to get away from it all this place has it.
- Christine (10/5): - It’s a rural farm, exactly what I expected, breakfast was lovely, nothing was too much trouble, friendly and helpful hosts. Had a lovely stay,
- Charlotte (8/5): - The couple who owned the property were a lovely.. jolly.. welcoming,, happy,, make you feel at home couple,, it was really nice to relax and have a catch up with them,, the room was lovely and big,, the surroundings were lovely and peacefull and there was plenty full of amounts of milk in the fridge
I was quite tired when arriving.. there a really nice couple but I felt too tired to talk when arriving and dining the next day, the man woke me up ready for breakfast the next morning,, I was wondering if anyone else stayed the night before,, because the noise was coming from quite close by, there was a wasp problem that was a bit annoying,, what made it worse was the owner squishing them to death.. did notice a few hairs in the shower, not sure if it has been cleaned
- Michael (10/5): Rural idyll in Suffolk - Len and Barbara are welcoming and engaging hosts. The breakfasts were delicious especially their home produced jams and honey.
- Bob (8/5): - Turned up check-in was dead easy. I thought I was booking a room at a B&B but it turned out it was virtually a whole flat so very pleased and surprised. A very comfortable evening and I wouldn’t hesitate to book again.
- Margaret (8/5): - The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was spacious and comfortable and it was very quiet.
- John (8/5): - All very good thanks to Barbara and Len, who were very friendly.
- STEVEN (10/5): - Enjoyable overnight stay while visiting Sutton Hoo. Lovely open room with great views. Excellent breakfast and friendly and knowledgeable hosts.

- Howard (10/5): Great venue friedly owners - GOOD welcome - room spacious b/fast explained- all good
- Ian (8/5): Away for work - I was staying in the ground floor room, which was very spacious as was the ensuite shower room. Nice touch of fresh milk in fridge. Wifi was okay. Got advice as to where to go for evening meal which was good. Great cooked breakfast. Lovely hosts.
- Stephanie (6/5): - The annexe was clean and bright.
It was very cold in the room at night.
There was a damp smell, which we found off putting.
However the owners were very helpful and cooperative when we asked for an earlier check in, and were a very nice couple. Grounds are beautiful and very picturesque.
- Christine (10/5): - We realy enjoyed our stay at Hillbrow farm. The location is lovely. The hosts were very friendly. The breakfast was excellent.
- T.M. (10/5): B&B Excellence - One night only unfortunately. Delightful hosts. Remarkable history to the premises. Nice and quiet location and yet quite close to some excellent Pubs. My number one choice when in the area again.
- Lee (10/5): - Lovely couple
- Clive (10/5): - Very welcoming and comfortable
- Andrew (10/5): - Really felt very welcome - excellent hosts, very interesting site, a former home and workplace of a very famous Cartoonist. Comfortable bed, good shower, real milk in the fridge. Good breakfast too. Quiet location, very well located for working in or touring north of Ipswich. I'd go back: a statement that is the best recommendation from anyone?
- Lynda (8/5): - We arrived in the evening and had a warm welcome The room was comfortable and clean. Very friendly host at breakfast
- Lesley (10/5): - The room was beautifully presented, clean and bright really delightful! It even had a small fridge (already stocked with a milk selection which was extremely thoughtful), with tea/coffee making facilities. The proprietors are lovely, friendly and welcoming. If we had any criticism it would be that the pillows were not particularly comfortable however, the mattress was very comfortable. A hearty breakfast was available with a good selection. We would definitely stay there again! Many thanks to the proprietors for looking after us so well!
- Kelvin (10/5): - Len and Barbara are great hosts and make you feel really welcome. Happy to chat and tell you about the property and surrounding areas. A good breakfast from local product too. Hope to see them again soon.
- Bruce (2/5): - Booked 2 nights here. Contacted by the property to see if I could call at arrival so they could walk me through access. They were out with family. Not crazy about this but agreed. However, on an out of country phone so needed there WIFI pw so could access phone WIFI upon arrival and call. Waited 10 hours without a response, had to book another place at considerably more cost. Ruin my whole day stressing about this and spending hours to get a place to stay. Not the way I need to spend my holiday.
- Anthony (10/5): - Barbara and len .lovely people . Very helpful , lovely place
- Philip (10/5): - Excellent from start to finish. If you’re looking for somewhere quiet to relax or even for work then this is it.
- Peter (10/5): Homely very friendly and peaceful - Welcoming and chatty quiet rural area very comfortable stay would stay there again if in the area
- nicola (6/5): - Good B&B. But you get what you pay for so do not expect any fancy frills as it is very old fashioned. However the host were lovely and breakfast fabulous. If there were two things I would say is please use softener on the towels as it was like drying yourself with sand paper and not hygienic having a bar of soap. So hence given an average score.
- John (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful host. Superb breakfast from local/homegrown produce.
- Margaret (10/5): - A clean, comfortable and spacious room in a quiet and seemingly remote property, but with easy access to Ipswich. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful and the hosts were helpful and friendly,
- Christine (10/5): - Spacious, comfortable B&B with friendly approachable owners. Substantial cooked breakfast. Would highly recommend.
- Barry (10/5): - Warmly welcomed. Good breakfast. In a quiet location
- Chrissie (10/5): - Friendly and accommodating hosts. Large comfortable room. Quiet location with easy access to local tourist areas. Thoroughly recommended
- Hazel (10/5): Spring break - We had the first floor room which is huge, plenty of light with tranquil rural views. Huge breakfast with home produced marmalade, honey, jam & eggs. All suited us very well fo 4 nights.
- Martin (10/5): - A great find with very welcoming and friendly host, lovely spacious room
- Emma (8/5): - Had a lovely stay. Nice, clean spacious room with beautiful views. Breakfast was delicious and excellent and the owners were very pleasant and informative. Wish we had had reason to stay longer than a night!
- Emma (10/5): Brilliant - Owners were very friendly breakfast was awesome and if u want peace and quiet the location is awesome
- Anthony (10/5): - Really enjoyed my stay here. Would highly recommend. Nice warm room, very spacious. Lovely people.
- Francis (10/5): - Great place
- stephen (10/5): - All very good
- Andrea (10/5): - Nice room with spacious en suite. Good breakfast. Very quiet
- Melanie (10/5): Luxurious Home-Away-From Home - Len and Barbara put attention in the tiny details that makes staying at Hillbrow Farm a delight. The place was SPOTLESSLY clean! The welcome was so warm it felt like I had come home to family. The furnishings in the room were top notch (The carpet was so deep you could sink into it) The bathroom was well stocked in case you forgot to bring anything.
The grounds were like a slice of eden with flowers and wildlife. The room I stayed in was spacious and light and had all-round views of beautiful countryside. Even the bedroom was well stocked with a fridge with tea, coffee and milk and a lovely comfortable lounge area.
The bed was really comfortable and again was SO CLEAN. It matters to me. I dislike pongy air fresheners and this lovely place had none of those because they didn't need one!
- John (8/5): - The studio bedroom we had was very spacious and comfortable with two easy chairs, great for relaxing after a busy day. The bathroom needs some TLC, mouldy grouting a bit off putting and a nonslip shower mat is a must. Breakfast was lovely, good quality produce.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place, spacious room. Clean and tidy. Good breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A lovely place to stay, extremely quiet so a great night's sleep. The room was large with an outside terrace and views across fields so very comfortable. Lovely breakfast and good places to eat within a short drive for other meals. Lovely hosts, interesting chats with them. I'd definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Owners pleasant. Room was clean but had a musty/damp smell. No hot water available until morning of departure. Only pre used soap/ toiletries provided - COVID??
General appearance of location was very neglected. Very isolated accessed by single track lane. I would not use again
- Verified traveler (8/5): - very welcoming laid back friendly approach
directions map very confusing
- Mark (10/5): - Perfect, homely, delightful people even at 10.28pm!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hillbrow Farm B&B is one of the best B&B we have ever been too. Hosts were extremely kind, rooms are clean, breakfast was very tasty (everything tastes like what they suppose to taste), bed is very comfortable, and it is at a very quiet location. Not far from Ipswich and easy access to both Suffolk AONBs. If you wander up the lane to the north, Barley Mow is where Shakespeare stayed. There are also a couple of footpaths around where you can hike around. Highly recommended and definitely want to come back!
- Philip (10/5): Just the Job - Lovely B&B accomodation in a quiet and remote location. My room was very clean and spacious and was just the job for a few days walking. Breakfast was excellent and the hosts delightful. What more can you ask for?
- Verified traveler (10/5): - In the countryside.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hillbrow Farm is in a beautiful rural location, surrounded by farm land. Our spacious first floor room had wonderful views and was immaculately presented. We were interested to learn that this was the studio of Giles, the famous cartoonist. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, and even posted an item that I foolishly left behind. Breakfast was also very good. For evening meal we ate at 'The Fountain' about 5 minutes drive away in an attractive village, which is worth a quick walk around. No complaints.
- Paul (10/5): perfect stay - the room was warm, spacious, clean and all the facilities i would expect. the breakfast was one of the best I've ever had.
- Paul (10/5): Lovely quiet B&B - A warm welcome by a lovely helpful couple. The room was light and spacious, with great views over the farm. Breakfast was delicious and served at a time that suited us. Great if you are visiting Ipswich. We would highly recommend staying at this B&B. We will be back, next time we visit our family.
- Bernadette (10/5): - Wonderful welcoming, warm and friendly place to stay. Such a peaceful, comfortable home. Loved it!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice place, will go again
- Sharon (10/5): Totally recommended - Lovely location and excellent accommodation, thoroughly recommended. Great space and facilities. Recommend the Swan at Westerfield for food but lots of good places with short travel times.
- WALGINS (10/5): - Barbara and Len, hospitable hosts. Bedroom large with comfy bed and pillows. Has a little fridge with fresh milk and nice selection of teas.
Breakfast tasty
- Anita (8/5): Two night stay - Very hospitable hosts and tasty breakfast.
