- Karen (9/5): Highly recommend this hotel for travelers passing through Richmond - Everything was great Room 206 could use a little touch-up as it showed a couple signs of wear and tear.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Nice stay, walking distance to restaurants. - Clean, modern. Pool was cool for me.
- Waye (8/5): Nice but pricey - Close to food and activities. I thought I was going to pay 114.00 and ended up paying 164.00
- William (9/5): -
- Jennifer (10/5): -
- Nicole (8/5): - Consistency, polite, clean
- rogersober (8/5): Room for as very useful - The room was very useful and cost conscience. The breakfast was good as the proteins were fresh and hot. The lobby was clean and roomy. The shower was hot and bed comfortable.
- Terry (8/5): - Requested a room on top floor, which turned out to be a mistake. Apparently the AC units are on roof above top floor rooms. It was very noisy, even the walls vibrated from the sound. We were able to move to third floor. Girl at front desk was very accomadating.
- Carson (10/5): - Clean, nice size room, perfect size shower
- 661christao (10/5): Amazing stay as I visited Richmond to help my daughter move into her dorm. - Tru had a great breakfast, very clean lobby and rooms, a fun pool. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends. Great stay.
- Amandawn1986 (10/5): Amazing stay - We had a wonderful stay great breakfast the lady in there was super friendly and bubbly. The pool was super clear and clean and our kids enjoyed it very much. Very friendly atmosphere and convient to everything.
- daisybP9229MH (2/5): Ants - If I could give zero stars, I would. Upon arrival, our first room had an ant infestation. I was offered the option to have it sprayed or to switch rooms. We chose to switch, only to find that the second room had an even worse ant problem. When I brought this to Rebekah's attention, she asked me to come to the front desk and remarked that this would be the third room we were being moved to. She also stated that if the third room wasn’t to our satisfaction, we would need to consider another hotel.
To make matters worse, the manager was out of town and I was told that changing hotels wouldn’t warrant any further follow-up or contact from them. My young son even woke up with ants crawling on him—completely unacceptable and unsanitary.
The service we received was incredibly poor, and the response to a clear pest issue was dismissive. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. Please also be cautious about overly positive reviews, as they may not reflect the reality of the experience. Photos attached for reference.
- Deborah (10/5): - Good place
- Deann (10/5): - Was a nice quiet stay with plenty of family oriented options around for food and entertainment.
- Bradley (10/5): - Clean and convenient to the interstate.
- Leesa (10/5): -
- Kasey (7/5): -
- Antwaun (10/5): - Great
- Gloria (8/5): Nice stay - It was good. Very clean and comfortable. My only complaint is the air conditioning is so loud and noisy in room 310. And there’s nothing to eat for breakfast for some fun with celiac except for boiled eggs.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Nice hotel
- Marissa (6/5): - Upon arrival, the lady at the check-in attempted checking us in to a double queen room when our reservation was for a single king bed. My bank statement shows a charge $90 dollars more than the amount shown upon booking. I am unsure of why the amount was different. All that aside it was a nice hotel.
- Matthew (6/5): - The room I was initially given clearly was occupied so I had to immediately turn around and go back to the front desk.
Second room was fine aside from loose faucet fixture on counter and loose shower head from wall.
Breakfast was barely average... expected better at this price point.
Only chose this hotel since relatives were staying here too.
- John (10/5): - Perfect one-night stop. Everything you need. Great breakfast!
- Pam (10/5): Experience at Tru Hilton, Richmond KY - The comfort...staff...and all around experience.
- cristinacX2705CH (10/5): Best stay ever! - Rooms are very minimal but very cozy. I love the modern look of this hotel. Breakfast was my favorite part. Pancake machine is awesome! I would definitely stay here again! The check in process was very smooth and fast. they had everything ready. Lobby was always clean and the staff was amazing!
- steven (6/5): - Second stay, Overall the property is acceptable for the price. 2 issues. The room smelled funky. To Me it smelled strongly of old nicotine. To my wife it smelled like the carpet had been wet. Really was hoping for better. Also, fix the entrance. Smooth out the massive curb you have to 4 wheel over to get in!
- Charles (8/5): - It’s a very good area easy off and on from interstate nice motel. Welcoming staff.
- MichiganLadyfox (8/5): Comfortable Overnight Stop - Was very busy. Employee at front desk was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. We had different breakfast plans, so did not try the breakfast. Coffee available 24-7 was great touch we enjoyed. The front foyer area with pool table and work stations were being well utilized when we arrived. We liked the Modern feel and decor. We would stay here again.
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- H2734HKkristyc (10/5): Flawless stay! - It happened to be our wedding anniversary on the same day that our son graduated EKU Criminal Justice so we decided to get a hotel room. We walked in and booked in person. This hotel is really nice. Very clean, excellent staff. We felt safe there. I'd highly recommend staying here. The shower was awesome. Breakfast was good and the room was clean and comfortable.
- Brenda (9/5): Superb -
- 661christao (10/5): Loved! - I had a great stay at Tru by Hilton! I enjoyed an excellent breakfast and friendly and helpful experiences with the staff. The hotel is a very clean establishment with all needed amenities and more. I will be back and will recommend to friends and family.
- 717evelyng (8/5): It's always nice , but don't start slacking . - The hotel was nice . We've stayed here multiple times. So I would definitely recommend it. The only negative on this trip is that the ice machine by the lobby was absolutely gross . It looks like it hasn't been clean in a long time. Seriously, other than that, the hotel was nice.
- coyneh (10/5): great - Always great pancakes so good coffee always hot and staff great. The yogurt machine is so good and meats and eggs. Nice an clean room and king bed and walk in shower big tv sec network for all the sports and lots places nearby to eat Texas roadhouse nearby
- Antwaun (9/5): Superb -
- Antwaun (9/5): Superb -

- Skylar (7/5): Good -
- Denise (8/5): Would stay again - Clean room and comfortable beds.
- robinoA1548VX (10/5): Had a great stay - Had a great stay ,friendly service, great management, lots to do and place to eat close ,walking distance. Very clean, awesome breakfast , the lady is the most friendlyiest,,helpful , sweetest. She does a very good job...very nice employee s, the best housekeeper s .
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional - It was our 2nd time staying there! We actually ended up with the same room both times! We will definitely stay there on our way down & back from FL every year.
- Stahl (4/5): Gross. - It was right off the highway. It was dirty. Not as a nice at expected for over 100 a night. The shower was cracked there was glue every where. Very clear there was vomit on the walls.
- Kindoll (9/5): Superb - Pool
- coyneh (10/5): EKU Homecoming - I came down to Richmond Kentucky October 25 friday and saturday doe EKU homecoming was great stay pancakes coffee all good and the hotel was clean and staff was A plus. Lots of my friends stayed there and we enjoyed our time and able to hangout in lobby and outdoor patio
- Eduardo (10/5): Clean and comfortable -
- Maria (4/5): Never again. - The room had poor lighting and no closet space, only hooks. The bed pillows were flat and uncomfortable. There were no bedside tables and only 1 chair. I would not recommend this hotel.
- Steven (6/5): - We liked how friendly the staff was. The gentleman that checked us in made it very simple & quick. He also offered us a coupon for a free appetizer when we said we were going to get dinner later. The lobby looked great my husband even challenged me to a pool game after dinner. Our room was a bit disappointing though. After such a great first impression we were let down quite a bit. We’ve stayed at several different brand of hotels. The only way I can think of to describe this room is it was a BEDroom. Yes the bed was comfortable. But the room itself was smaller than any hotel room we’ve been in. I realize it was more of a modern minimalist look. In regards to instead of closets there were hooks or hangers on a pipe. Which is and was totally fine. What we did not care for was the loud constant noise from the air conditioning unit. And whenever someone flushed the toilet. We had to close the bathroom door because of the noise it made for approximately 5 minutes. Luckily my wife had brought air freshener with us. Because the exhaust fan didn’t work in our bathroom. In the morning not only did the water leak all over the bathroom floor. We had to leave the door open to allow the steam to escape. My husband almost fell in the shower. His foot had stepped on a corner of a panel that was covering the drain. If he hadn’t caught himself on the safety bar his head would have hit the shower glass door. Most Tru properties are new but you can tell this was a older hotel made to look new.
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional - Cleaned We booked because there was a pool but the pool was shut down so that was disappointing
- Craig (7/5): Good -
- 383tarid (10/5): OUTSTANDING! - This hotel is GREAT. I'm not sure why the previous reviewer had such a problem. Our room was READY ON TIME, IMMACULATE, COMFORTABLE, and QUIET. We are both pretty picky actually and can't find anything negative about the hotel nor our stay. Free breakfast, outside patio, pool table, indoor pool, workout room. Everything worked and there was even a mini fridge in the room. We loved having the bathroom sink actually INSIDE the bathroom. I would stay here over and over again. I'm actually looking for all of the Tru brand Hiltons every time I travel from now on.
- Joseph (10/5): Tru lived up to my expectations. - Breakfast was very good.
I like showers instead of tub/shower combo
- X7159PHdb (2/5): Worst experience, filthy room - We arrived late evening for check in the weekend before July 4th and management raised prices to over 60 dollars per room. Since we were traveling with a child, we decided to stay the night as we were extremely tired. The room had cobwebs all over the bed and corners. That room wasn’t cleaned in ages. We couldn’t shift to “new” room in night with a child. I had to get more sheets and pillows to put over dirty bed sheets. The bed was too soft and the pillows were uncomfortable and caused your neck to just dig in with no support. We will never recommend this hotel to anyone.
- Maria (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (8/5): Very good - Tile in shower was falling apart
- Ann (10/5): True to Tru - Quiet, well-maintained facility and clean. I like its simplicity and humor. Also, the breakfast is very good. We plan on staying Tru as often as we can.
- Ray (5/5): Passable -
- Catherine (8/5): Very good -
- Cathy (3/5): Poor - Breakfast was very nice choice of options. Dining area very clean. The dead bolt on the room didn’t work. Staff came to look. Said hotel was full so no other room to move to but we could leave snd they wouldn’t charge us!! Ridiculous response at 8 pm after being in car all day. We put chair by the door.
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonas (1/5): It was not good ants in room 403 - The location. We had very bad experience with Ants in our room 403. The night person came and sprayed bug spray in room no ventilation. We asked if we could change rooms and was informed the hotel was sold out. There was no suggestion of any discounts or anything. We killed at least 10 ants prior to her coming to room. After she sprayed there was still ants throughout our stay. We had ants in room and in morning when we checked out the morning person saw notes in computer about ants and still no discounts or offer any other accommodations for the inconvenience. They only suggested we get the EKU discount if we stay again. We have a son at EKU. WE WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN.
- Jerry (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast was good. N/a
- debbierM5567RL (8/5): Spring visit - We chose this hotel for our visit to Richmond while visiting my son and family. The reasons were the Hilton reputation and the fact it had an indoor pool for our grandsons to enjoy. The hotel was very clean, staff was friendly and location was great. The room was set up a bit strange. Small table on one side of the bed, a shelf on the other, no drawers and no closet. We attempted to go in the pool one day, and the water was ice cold. As indicated in the room, housekeeping would come in every other day to clean; make bed, replenish towels, empty trash and replenish amenities. They came as stated but bed was not made. When I mentioned this at reception the next morning, they told me that I needed to request to have the bed made!! I indicated I have never heard of that and thought it was strange. They offered to have someone go in that day of which they did. I would have rather they just admitted they forgot. The breakfast was good as well as the coffee which was available 24 hours.
- Michael (6/5): It was fine for the time we were there. - Cleanliness, location, friendly staff, breakfast Indoor pool was freezing cold water, pool chairs uncomfortably hard, housekeeping did not make bed when cleaning the room and when I asked they said you need to request it done. Not true!! No drawers or closets in rooms.
- Laura (7/5): Good -
- Michael (7/5): Good - Location is walking distance to several restaurants. The rooms are nice.
- Renee (10/5): Exceptional - Nice, clean hotel. The staff was very accommodating.
- Cram (1/5): Bad -
- rouzbeh (4/5): - The heating system in my room 213 was not working
- Philip (9/5): Superb -
- Brandi (10/5): Great place to stay - Everything & everyone were very nice The little ledge in our stand up shower was broke so if someone were to put their leg up there while shaving or anything it would have fallen the rest of the way off. I did not touch it
- Loretta (8/5): Comfortable beds at a premium price - Comfortable & clean. Full shower door. Too expensive for a very standard room with two queen beds. Pool was ridiculously small and shallow throughout & the water was absolutely freezing. Even the kids couldn’t stay in it for more than just a few minutes and they ordinarily swim for hours at hotel pools;
- Davis (10/5): Exceptional -
- KarenL637 (6/5): Single and couple travellers would like this hotel. - The hotel is new and modern in decor. Our room didn’t have a fridge that worked. We asked for a new one and they were not able to accommodate us. The rooms are best suited to a single traveller. We had a king bed and a kitty, and it felt small. It would be uncomfortable for a family for four. The gym is great, with a Peleton bike, elliptical, and two treadmills, plus free weights. The best feature is the location, with plenty of stores and restaurants just a few blocks away.
- John (8/5): - This in my opinion is good for 1 night stay, breakfast was good. Coffee was really good.
- Elaine (9/5): Great value in an easily accessible location - Room decor was very continental, modern, sleek, no frills. The facility was exceptionally clean, and the staff extremely friendly. The inclusive breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever experienced at a hotel of this nature. The food was hot, tasty, and will present it in an extremely clean environment. Unfortunately the heating unit was overly loud and it was difficult to create a comfortable temperature in the room. Another drawback was no way to regulate the lighting by the bed so that one person could sleep while the other person read. It was all lights on or all lights off.
- David (6/5): Pleasant - Television programming was very weak on National news. Staff was very unaccommodating when asked to provide a very simple request.
- John (8/5): Very good -
- IAN (10/5): - Friendly, helpful staff. Great value !!
- dave9956 (2/5): Terrible hotel with unsafe bathroom - It is hard to describe how poorly put together this hotel is. I doubt the entire Tru brand is like this, but this one is a complete dud.
The room is pretty bare - but with the rate being mid 100s, I understood that.
Then it got worse. The bed is rock hard and furniture in the room a level below Ikea. It was already creaking and showing wear.
The WiFi didn't work well for us, we ended up using our phones.
But the worst part is the bathroom. Covered with spots of black mold all over the shower area. Ceiling, floor, walls with mold. Cracks in the shower itself and water leaking whenever it was on. Unfit for people to be there.
See my pictures. It is truly hard to believe.
- Nicole (10/5): - Always the best IMO clean efficient and great comfortable beds!! Dogs are happy there too!!
- Andriy (9/5): Superb -
- neotrek36 (10/5): Great place to stay! - Traveling home from Hilton Head and needed a place to sleep. Cheapest price compared to Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn (where we normally stay).
Clean room for the most part…always find a stray hair in the shower and dust in the corners no matter where we stay lol
More modern deco, which was fine with us.
You can tell the building and rooms put together quickly and not much attention paid to detail, but it was fine for now!
Bed comfortable. We didn’t eat much for breakfast bc we were having brunch a few hours later, but staff busy cleaning up and wiping down tables…which was nice to see :)
Only complaint was curb getting in and out of parking lot was rough! Need to smooth it down so not so hard on the vehicles.
I would stay here again.
- Jonas (9/5): Everything was good, great hotel with nice size rooms, bathrooms, and amenities! - The location, updated rooms, the amazing shower space, and the great price!
- Karen (5/5): 50/50 experience. convenient location, but for a newer hotel, needs a bit of maintenance. - convenient location, fair price. Front staff was able to accommodate my request to move rooms after first night. Breakfast was easy and convenient. Stayed two nights. First night, the room was pretty rough. Thin walls, loads of dirty spots, shelf in shower had been ripped off leaving exposed screws, but most annoying, the toilet refilled the tank continuously all night. Front desk apologized for the problem, but could not move me. Second night, front desk moved me to top floor and the room was much cleaner and quieter.
- JADINL3 (8/5): Great employees - We stayed for a couple nights while in town watching a college golf tournament at University Club. This is listed as a low budget Hilton property but it is super clean and bright and the employees are so nice and helpful. The price was excellent and the free breakfast was one of the better ones we have had at this type of hotel.
- Amy (9/5): Great place to stay while visiting Lexington - Loved the pool table in the lobby! Breakfast was good and had plenty of options. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Suzanne (5/5): It was a hotel.. we thought we'd try hilton insteF of our usuL holiday inn they're going downhill. - Th location was nice. When u first come in, smelled sooo clean, coffee round the clock Brkfst was substandard, bathroom has broken shelf, water pressure.. AWFUL!!
- Charla (6/5): - This was a good facility, it was quiet and super clean! It is fine for a single traveller but if there is more than one in your party - note that there is ONE chair in the room - no where else for anyone to sit except on the bed! No dresser, no closet, bare minimum - very European in this aspect. I do NOT like to socialize with people randomly so going down to the lobby where there is an overabundance of chairs and furniture was not in the cards for us. The one ice machine - on the first floor and they had plastic buckets! Which did nothing to keep the ice cold or covered. Price was fine, but for what the room had - expensive.
- Mia (8/5): - Bed was very hard!!!
- dfrey2020 (8/5): Wonderful stay - We were in Richmond, Kentucky for 1 night and chose this hotel. For a lower end Hilton product, we were very pleased. It was located in a good area with lots of dining and shopping options in the area. The lobby was soooo welcoming and we saw guests using the lobby for gatherings, grabbing a fresh coffee at the 24 hour coffee bar, etc. There is a pool table off to the side, wonderful seating areas and cozy nooks, as well as a great outdoor area to gather with friends and family. They even have grills! The rooms are small, but not so small you can't move around. A couple of things that were a surprise; our room did not have a closet and it did not have any type of drawer space to put our clothing. There is a clothing bar above the microwave to hang your clothing but, for incidentals (pjs, underclothing, etc) there isn't a space for them. We found a shelf in the bathroom where we put these items and that worked out ok. There is a large tv in the room, coffee maker, microwave and mini fridge in the room. The beds are comfy and the sheets are wonderful!!! The staff is extremely welcoming. We would not hesitate to stay here again.
- Arthur-Panick (8/5): Not bad for a short stay - It was strange to be in a hotel with no dresser or stage in the room. The rooms were fine, I had a towel holder in the bathroom hanging off the wall that I reported and didn't get fixed during my stay. I went to fill my water bottle at the fountain, but it was broken and looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the pandemic started. The rooms showed evidence of the foundation settling in the seams of the entryway. The shotty contractor didn't t even bother to make the trim come together. however, the recreational area was nice, as was the back patio. Great staff though.
- annie67_fl (8/5): Clean, newer property - Seemed like a new property. The hotel is very clean and the staff is friendly. The room was just missing a few features that I’m used to like blackout curtains (it got quite bright in the early morning), also no in room coffee pot or microwave. Breakfast was good for most of the family but it would have been awesome to have at least one gluten free option like a prepackaged bagel, muffin, etc. (food service scrambled eggs even contain wheat so not much to choose from on the bar for our GF family member). Overall a nice hotel which, like other Tru by Hiltons, has a sort of modern, sleek, minimalist vibe.
- dmea10 (6/5): So disappointed that the pool was shut down. - We went to this location because my family member was graduating from the DOCJT
We specifically picked this hotel due to the pool since my grandkids were with us and we planned to spend the day swimming. We got the kids ready with their floaties and bathing suits and went downstairs and saw that the pool was obviously not clean. We asked at the front desk and she informed us that the pump was broken. So of course the kids were disappointed. We had been telling them for the whole month they were going to swim and have pizza at the hotel. The room was nice and clean. We did kill a roach that walked right in front of me but I understand most places have them and didn’t freak out. The front desk staff were all very pleasant and helpful. I just wish we had known about the broken pool.
- amyadams920 (2/5): I would take stay here again. - Checked in with 2 kids and no one told us the pool was broken till we went down there and it was full of algae & we asked why it was like that. We had 2 roaches in the room & the breakfast wasn’t anything good at all! Honestly super disappointed!
- Stephanie (8/5): - Overall a nice hotel...but definitely high traffic wear. Wallpaper was coming off the wall in the bathroom, towel hooks falling out of wall.
My only other complaint was the noise of the room doors....they would automatically slam shut behind you, so anytime someone returned to their room it would be super loud!
- Sydney (5/5): Passable -
- Scott (10/5): - X
- Jean (2/5): - room as small as a camper ... if I wanted a room so small, I would have rented a boat or camper!
No desk to work at, no place to open and use the portable ironing board... not able to hang clothes as clothes hanger right over microwave, refrigerator. No bed light to turn on ... use a cpap and no place to place device. Should I continue?
