Guest Reviews
- Pinar (10/5): - Hersey yegeri kadar iyiydi
- Richard (6/5): - Bed bugs have attacked me like never before. I’ve thrown out all of my clothes and donated my backpack to the church
- Gerardo (10/5): - Smooth check-in. Warm attentive service. The restaurant offered delicious food.
- Brian (10/5): - Great respite on the Camino.
- Luiz (6/5): Boa pousada mas longe da cidade. - Pousada fica 4km do centro de Palas de Rey, a dificuldade é que não há opção de alimentação próxima exceto no próprio hotel e os preços são altos com cardápio restrito.
- Silvia (10/5): - The staff is very friendly and the location is quiet. Easy to find when you do the Camino.I recommend Hosteria Calixtino with no doubt.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable stay - A characterful hotel. We had a comfortable stay after a long walk from Portomarin. Tasty dinner and breakfast with good service.
- wunderlustsoul (10/5): Excellent stay - This a beautiful stop on the Camino. The courtyard is a wonderful place to relax. The food was delicious, the showers hot, the beds comfortable and the owners are friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here while on the Camino.
- Maria (10/5): Warm Welcome right on the Camino - I loved this stay on the Camino. The staff were all very warm and welcoming. My room was comfortable and both dinner and breakfast were very, very good.
I highly recommend this Hosteria.
- chin (10/5): - Very nice staffs .
Beautiful property.
- Patricia A. (6/5): - This would have been a lovely stay if not for something completely out of control of the management. The family in the room next to me allowed their little children to run and jump and scream for hours on end. Sound proofing might have helped but the screaming might have been beyond most soundproofing. Again it’s a lovely hotel. Perhaps avoid during any national holiday times.
- Gregory (10/5): Good place off the Camino - Great place, comfortable, clean and good food. The folks were very accommodating in getting us back into the nearby town and on the Camino.
- terribG2905MI (10/5): Awesome location a few miles before Palas De Rei on the Camino. Beautiful setting! - The property is beautiful... Galician Villa/farmhouse style. The location is Right on the Camino with hillside and countryside views from the outside terrace/bar and some rooms. Friendly staff, full bar and delicious dinner. We recommend the veal, the pork knuckle or the squid/pasta dish. Large portions! For starters... the soup and the salad are both outstanding. The desserts are super delish! We enjoyed the flan and the lemon mousse. The house wine is very good... the sangria is on the sweet side. Basic clean, comfortable room. Nice size shower and king bed. Large windows! We would definitely stay here again!
- kevinsE4116PB (4/5): Least favorite stay of our Camino - Nicely renovated farmhouse. Bed was comfortable . Just off Camino. Nice patio areas to relax. Staff in reception and restaurant not very friendly. Food at restaurant was good but extremely salty. No A/C. Biggest problem however was noise. Walls were thin and even worse birds were between the ceiling and the tile roof making quite a racket (at least I hope they were birds) . Another guest reported the same condition over their room. Breakfast choices were limited. Least favorite stay of our Camino
- Pablo (10/5): - It is located in a beautiful and flowered country field. The patio is lovely and comfortable to eat and drink. Nice breakfast. I was not lucky because it was raining.
- Brenda (10/5): - We had a lovely stay here. I use a wheelchair and while not specifically disabled accessible, the facility and staff made our visit easy. The staff was friendly, attentive and accommodating. It was just a few steps off the camino. The restaurant food and sangrias were superb. Would definitely stay here again.
- Unni (8/5): Utmerket plass å bo - Utvendig et fint steinhus, flott uteplass.fikk rom på bakkenivå og bra service.maten i restauranten god.
Minus må være mugg på bad.
- WarpNine1 (10/5): Wonderful hotel and restaurant - I was apprehensive about my stay since the hotel was outside the city. (I’d had a less than ideal experience earlier on my Camino). My fears were immediately alleviated by Isabel’s kind and warm welcome. Rooms are nice. Wonderful touches like nice outdoor seating. Then there’s the restaurant….OMG. What delicious food. Because you’re outside the town, you’re pretty much confined to the grounds unless you take a taxi. Didn’t matter…the food was some of the best I had on my entire Camino. Definitely recommend. Definitely stay here again. 5*.
- Manuel (10/5): - The staff was great: helpful, friendly. Room was great!
- Concepción (8/5): Tranquilidad y silencio - El sitio está muy bien. Sólo pondría que la ducha estaba un poco deteriorada
- Jill (10/5): - Dry peaceful and accommodating.
- Tourist595544 (10/5): No better place to be ill - Whilst traveling the Camino, I became ill and stayed 2 nights and a day in bed at the Hosteria to get better. All the while Isabel took excellent care of me and brought me tons of delicious home-made food. We communicated via Google Translate/communicate. Isabel was really supportive and very efficient in arranging a taxi for bringing me to a clinic where she had made an appointment for me.
- Hilda (10/5): - Great service and lovely rooms
- Zaphod125 (10/5): Great hotel 4km short of Palas de Rei - Of all the hotels we’ve stayed in along the Camino de Santiago, this has been the nicest. It’s actually 4km short of Palas de Rei but as that place looks pretty awful, staying here was a great idea.
The accommodation was down, the restaurant was excellent and everyone seemed very nice
- luv2diveDenver (6/5): Not Bad - Located two miles before Palas de Rei, it’s a nice rural stop although it has some issues. Laminate flooring was laid down on top of whatever existing flooring was in place in the entire room. This caused the flooring in the shower to bubble up as water went between the layers. Shortly afterwards, there was water underneath all of the bathroom flooring seeping into the bedroom. I believe this is probably the case throughout the building. As mentioned in an earlier post, the lower floor is extremely noisy and you hear absolutely every step upstairs - I believe this also relates to the flooring not being properly secured. Food was average - we wanted to order off a different menu (not pilgrim) and pay for it as the pilgrim meal was included with our room, but she didn’t understand what we wanted to do and in the end it was easier to give up and eat the pilgrim menu. They did accommodate anyone wanting to eat earlier so we didn’t have to wait until 8:00 or later which was great.
- Carmen (8/5): - Right next to the Camino a Santiago. Good service and attention.
- TomsLaw (10/5): Isabel is a darling - T'was a wet and windy wintery afternoon that I walked up to Hosteria Calistino to be told my booking was for unlucky 13th and today was 14th. I was wicked weary from walking 21 kms along the Way. At first nothing could be done. I wept and whimpered until the wonderful and witty Isabel found a resolution which won the day.
Building renovated, expanded, modernised to a high standard.
As a negative my room 10 had a very distinct smell of dead rodent. My guess is an apprentice plumber dealt with the waste for the shower as when it was covered the smell went away.
Overall though my impression of the place was very favourable thanks to Isabel. It felt the smell issue would be easy to cure with a decent plumber and I should be astonished if the owner of a top class building does not organise a cure immediately.
- clanc00per (10/5): Fabulous place to stay and home cooked food. - Wow, lovely place to stay with great views on the Camino trail. Clean and modern. Fabulous home cooked food in the evening and for breakfast. Loved it. Stayed here for our third night while walking.
To our amusement we tried out this foot massage machine we’ve never used before to help soothe our feet for 2 euros. It was hilarious as we’ve never experienced anything like it!
- gottago2day (10/5): Exceptional - What a divine place to stay after a long hot walk. The minute we walked in we were welcomed into this beautiful, modern & cool place. Our room was spotlessly clean and had been prepared by opening the beautiful window to let the cool fresh breeze in. After a lovely long hot shower we had drinks and nibbles in the outdoor lounge to revive after the day. Followed up by an early dinner (if you’ve been to Spain, you will know what a treat this is) by Antonio who cooked absolutely the best gourmet 3 course meal we have had during the whole of our time in Spain. There’s even a foot massager so soothe your aching feet. We will dream of coming back to this little slice of heaven for many years to come.
- buzzinn1 (8/5): So Quiet! - We stopped here for one night while walking the Camino and were so glad we did. The property is out in the countryside, only 4 kms from Palais de Rey, so it has all the benefits of a quiet place in the country, yet its only a short walk the next day into the bigger centre. Our room was clean & nice, beds are comfortable, shower very strong and so welcome after walking 20 kms! We had dinner in their restaurant and really liked the food. It was great to have the option of ordering a la carte since we’ve had a lot of pretty basic pilgrim menus lately! The staff were all lovely. We will definitely stay here again if we have the opportunity (our next Camino!).
- Elizabeth (10/5): Quiet, peaceful lodgings - Lovely, quiet, restful retreat after a day on the Camino. A little off the beaten path; need to take a taxi to town for dinner. They do have a beautiful spread for breakfast in the morning.
- fernange1974 (10/5): Amazing experience - What an amazing place to come to after a long walk on the Camino trail. Isabel was so friendly and Antonio's food was spectacular!
This place oozes charm and homely food that will always stay with you. Thank you for one our most memorable experiences on our Camino walk.
- S3385LPpaulw (10/5): Loved it, Loved it. - Loved this Hosteria.
From the actual rooms, helpful staff, delicious Galician food, wonderful rural views of
Os Valos, Lestedo. They've got it all covered. I'd recommend staying here, rather than walking onto Palas de Rei, if walking the Camino.
Enjoy.
- Sheng Shiung (8/5): 值得推薦 - 房間舒適、唯民宿中沒有廚房無法自行開火。
- 886DavidS (10/5): Camino Frances - We first stayed here last year and enjoyed it so much that we scheduled a return engagement again this time on the Camino. It’s modern, clean, the staff is great, the views are good, and the food is delicious. Everything is oriented towards making it a very relaxing stop as Pilgrims close in on Santiago de Compostela. From here you only have about 70 kilometers or 44 miles to go! If you stay here I’m sure that you will be satisfied.
