Wer Ruhe, modernes Design und exzellenten Service sucht, ist hier genau richtig. Was uns begeistert hat: Der Ocean Pavillon: Unser Zimmer war ein Traum. Es liegt eingebettet im Schatten alter Bäume, unglaublich nah am Wasser. Nachts bei offenem Fenster dem Wellenrauschen zu lauschen, war Erholung pur. Das Design ist modern und das Beleuchtungssystem äusserst durchdacht und praktisch. Pool & Strand: Die Poollandschaft ist wunderschön gestaltet. Besonders geschätzt haben wir die bequemen Liegen mit dicken Polstern, die sowohl am Pool als auch am 1,2 km langen Strand im kühlen Schatten der Bäume bereitstehen. Kulinarik: Da das Resort nur wenige Gäste hatte, genossen wir Frühstück und Abendessen à la carte. Die Qualität war hervorragend und der Service sehr persönlich. Atmosphäre: Mit nur sieben Gästen fühlte es sich an wie ein Privatresort nur für uns. Die Exklusivität und Ruhe sind unbezahlbar. Ein kleiner Wunsch für die Zukunft: Wir hoffen sehr, dass das Resort diesen extrem hohen Standard und die wunderbare Atmosphäre halten kann, auch wenn die Gästezahlen aktuell eher niedrig sind. Es ist ein echtes Juwel in Kambodscha!

- Laura (9/5): Absolutely beautiful, peaceful, relaxing hotel perfect for a short stay. - We loved the pool, the beach and the two restaurants and not forgetting the staff. We absolutely loved the hotel. However, the staff on the front desk could speak better English. Sometimes it was hard to communicate. The hotel is located on a secluded island so there is absolutely nowhere to go. If you are planning on staying more than 3 nights you might start to get a bit bored because in the evenings you can only go for dinner, the hotel does not provide anything to do. We stayed at another secluded 5-star hotel in Koh Rong, and they offered a lovely seating area on the beach with happy hour cocktails and lovely music to watch the sunset every evening. They also offered a movie night on the beach twice a week. Not sure whether this would work at this hotel, but it would be nice to offer something in the evening. Maybe a little bar on the beach with some soft music.

- Gal (7/5): An amazing location let down by lack of management and investment - The best thing is the beach. It is an unbelievably beautiful and serene stretch of beach with calm water and plenty of shade. Staff are all very young, struggle with English but a lot go out of their way to please and make up for the hard product shortcomings. The food is well executed if you stick to Cambodian and Asian dishes but gets repetitive and limited. Absolutely no consistency in service. A lot of the positive reviews here are from clients staying in the pool villas. However we booked three sea view rooms and had a ton of problems with unbreathable mouldy smells, sewage smell, hot water issues and we had to change rooms several times. The location is amazing but since their covid shut down there is a massive capex backlog which is not really being addressed.

- Phillip (10/5): Peaceful, relaxing luxury - This resort is as peaceful as it gets. Some days felt like we had the beach all to ourselves. Staff was fantastic, incredibly helpful and friendly. This is a personal preference and nothing against the resort, but there is nothing else on Koh Russei other than the resort. My family and I are more the type to get our and adventure, getting a feel for the culture of the places we visit. This was not possible here without paying for a boat and taxi back to the mainland and a return trip. If relaxation and getting away from everything is your ideal vacation, though, this is the place for you.

The hotel premises are outstanding, just as depicted in the photos and the staff is incredibly attentive. Almost nothing, just would be useful to activate YouTube app in the room’s TV.

- Eric (10/5): Excellent Value for 5 Star Experience - 1) The food is done well. ,The menu isn't extensive, but what they have is done well and served with the utmost intent to please. One night the chief asked what we would like and we requested a not too spicy menu course of his favorite Cambodian dishes-It was the stuff! Who needs an extensive menu when the chief will try to accomodate! I miss my morning breakfast and cappuccino in the Horizon dining room. 2) The property! From our private ocean front pool/villa, the patchy spots of pine needles on the beach, the pool, the grounds, and the quiet. We splurged on the villa, but I would have no problem staying in one of the deluxe rooms-all have a wonderful private balcony/patio. There were issues with hot water. The first night, we could only get warm water. Brought the matter to attention of staff and maintenance made a fix. Still, not as hot as we wanted. Next night, no hot water again. This time, we had to change villas. Thankful they were able to do that but a bit annoying. To compensate, the hotel provided us with a complementary after teen service on the beach. However, after our Spa treatment, there was no hot water from the Spa shower. The resort seems to be undergoing renovations, and this issue will not deter me from going back. I'll just remind them to assure that hot water is ready to go. Also, the website advertises experiences. We wanted to go mountain bike riding. The bikes, well, they had seen their best days. One had no breaks and the other just couldn't really shift gears. Snorkeling equipment needs updated too.

We loved diving with Ali and snorkeling at house reef. No wishes open ! When you walk beyond the resort there is a lot of trash from the ocean and nobody responsible to clean.

- Thu (8/5): Just a perfect stay - Breakfast is a ala carte , limited varieties. Location is great just 15 mins by car from the airport and 15 mins by speedboat to the island. Rubbish in the ocean littered by neighbors, impacted a lot to resort guests , we couldn't enjoy the beach at all, a lot of plastic and even glasses. Such a shame to those people who did this. Resort had to send their staff to collect and clean the beach. Food options and varieties. Resort doesn't have activities, I guess maybe due to low season, so you will be kind of getting bored on the island if you stay long.

After hours, up to $180 (one way). Also, grab cabs do not come to the boat landing. Access to the city is expensive, $30. These costs detract from a nice stay at the hotel.

- Nm (9/5): Island paradise! - Stunning hotel! Rooms and premises were really beautiful. We spend two nights during low season, not much to do, except enjoy the pool and spa. Staff were very friendly and attentive. They were minimally staffed, but that did not impact our stay. The massage therapist, May, was amazing! Two restaurants on site, which offer the same menu all day. No other food options.
- Francois (8/5): Very good - We had the 2 bedroom villa furthest away and it was just perfect. You can‘t get any closer to the beach and we were just by ourselves. The whole ressort is from an architectural and design perspective top! The island / beach is also very pretty. There were snorkeling masks, kayak, SUP and some ball games to be borrowed, which was very nice. We stayed four nights. For a hotel in Cambodia on the pricier side, especially as there are only the 2 restaurants on the island and they apply a zero tolerance rule to not bring any food and drinks to the ressort. Food was good, but also rather on the pricier side and after 4 days we were happy to go to HCM City to tried out the whole vietnamese cuisine. Also several wines, beers and other food were not available. Acknowledging it was the low season, but for a five star hotel, it can be expected that all is perfect.

- Robert (7/5): Cool and stylish hotel but service falls a bit short - Cool and stylish hotel, very quiet and relaxing. Staff are enthusiastic and trying hard even if they lack a little in communication and experience. Some communication issues, restaurant service was ok, we had some challenges on the first day getting gluten intolerance understood and had to raise it with reception and head chef. Service was a bit haphazard with courses at different times. Although the beach in front of the hotel is cleaned daily the rest suffers from a lot of plastic and fishing industry pollution which unfortunately is common in SE Asia.

- Anil (8/5): Lovely Island and resort to stay and spend quality time relaxing and enjoying its beauty. - Lovely, beautiful, peaceful private island. The Sea, sandy beach with good weather made this stay memorable. The staff are very welcoming and helpful and go out of their way to see to your needs. The rooms are comfortable but could have been planned a bit better to give more space for luggage, better placement of TV placement and limited channels. The massage and spa facilities are of excellent standards with very good staff. The breakfast facilities were good but again the staff are probably not aware or trained in the manner/order of breakfast serving. The A La Carte menu is good but limited especially with only one restaurant in the whole complex.

- Sandra (6/5): Pleasant - The island is a gem with distinct character and advantageous proximity to mainland. The location is endowed with natural charm which puts it in potential league with more established destinations in the region. The core strength remains with the local staff who are attentive and reactive, but only when engaged by the client. The FnB personnel was particularly stellar, despite limited options for culinary and cocktail adventure. Resorts of this nature and level rise and fall on their mastery of the details and ability to expand and amplify the customer experience. Challenges are aplenty. But far from impossible for this place. Facility and equipment age were felt throughout the trip. The departure of Alilas' has left evident gaps in facility management, maintenance, and site cleanliness. Like many others, Koh Russey Villas is facing a challenging market recovery. With effort, creativity and ingenuity, this resort should once again shine a fashionable light on Cambodian island travel.
