Guest Reviews
- John (7/5): Great location for wedding venue nearby - Comfortable rooms and beds
Good food
Free parking
Friendly staff Mould around the shower
Sticky dining tables
- Cathy (9/5): A splendid place to stay. - Our room overlooked a wonderful view. The room itself was extremely spacious and particularly well appointed. We took both lunch and dinner at the property. The food was good except for the mussels, which had been cooked in a very spicy curry sauce, which overwhelmed the mussels. Breakfast was excellent with a generous proportion of everything comprising both the Full English and the Light English. We had stayed in Room 4 on a previous occasion and were very glad to see that none of the high standards in any aspect of the property had slipped. Only the way the mussels had been cooked.
- Sally (9/5): Lovely - Perfect location to attend wedding across the road from hotel. Polite and friendly staff
- Jos (8/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): Very comfortable stay , rooms with balconies and wonderful views. - Comfortable room with balcony and great views over to the sea. Very friendly staff , and good evening meal . There was no breakfast buffet just individual items to order. Breakfast not included in room rate
- giles1009 (5/5): Disappointed - Very disappointed with our room. View from the back was piles of broken fencing
- Stephen (10/5): - Friendly staff. Location. Was a comfortable bed.
- Ian (10/5): It was really good - Stunning surroundings Nice location
- Ben (8/5): - Great staff, very good food and lovely location with views. Given the cost, good value for money!
- Ispeakasifind1 (10/5): You must give this place a try - I don’t know where to start. From the moment we walked in the staff were so friendly and helpful.
Our server, Anya, was lovely and explained the carvery to us and the options we had. Our drinks were with us before we knew it and the food, just wow!
We tried all three meats on the menu and to say the beef was perfectly cooked is an understatement, it was melt in the mouth. The chef was so lovely too, I wish we had got his name, young man with dark hair. My dad asked how he cooked the beef so beautifully and he took the time to tell him, really appreciated the effort as my Dad is 86 and loves a chat. The vegetables were fantastic and such a great selection, best parsnips I have ever had!
I’m a very fussy eater and I ate most of mine, I only stopped as I was so full!
I also saw our server deal with a very upset little girl next to us and she calmed her down with no effort and made her happy, so lovely to see as I k ow staff were busy with it being Easter Sunday!
Overall, amazing experience, wonderful staff and beautiful food. Thank you for a lovely meal and feel good atmosphere.
- Kingblues66 (10/5): Lovely stay. - Had a lovely stay at the Windmill, food was very good and the service in the evening and at breakfast from Liv and Anya was excellent. I would recommend staying here if you’re in the area.

- Bill (9/5): A great venue with fabulous staff. - A great venue with accommodation. Meals were great we had breakfast and dinner every day and they were superb. The room was spacious and very clean. The staff were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble at all. We had stayed in a Hilton hotel recently and the staff at The Windmill were as good as theirs! We’ll be back. Nothing!
- Kathleen (9/5): We’re so pleased we booked to stay here. Really enjoyed it. Thank you. - Friendly, helpful, attentive. Lovely food. Really nice position. Wonderful room with stunning views.
- Rice (8/5): -
- carol (10/5): Relaxing - Clean and relaxing ,good food in the pub lovely staff
- E7736XNneils (10/5): Great stay at the Windmill Inn - Great stay at the Windmill for a family wedding. Room was amazing. Huge bed with great shower. Staff lovely. Top breakfast. Brilliant experience. Definitely the place to stay.
- Kate (9/5): Cosy stay - Room very cosy and comfortable. I was attending a wedding nearby and couldn't get a taxi as it was so close (it was torrential rain) and one of the staff offered to drive me over which was so sweet.
The room had a balcony which would of been lovely to sit on had it not been for the rain.
- Martin (8/5): -
- E8617MStheresac (10/5): Great food and Service - Amazing food and great service from our server today Anya. We will definitely come back again when in the area. Thank you.
- Paul (8/5): Welcoming & comfortable place to stay. - Breakfast very good. Good in general very good. Staff excellent. Couldn’t fault the place really.
- 881christynap (10/5): Perfect family Christmas lunch - We had our first ever Christmas lunch not at home here so I was very apprehensive but it exceeded all of my expectations! The service was impeccable and was ran like a well oiled machine! Obviously it was a carvery but what a carvery! They had everything! Beautiful meats, pigs in blankets, yorkie puds, roast parsnips and carrots, all the veg you can think of! And the thing that topped it for me was the petit pois 😋 We were served by Anya and she was so attentive and kind. Well done guys 👏
- F6511RGalexs (10/5): Great food, great service - I went for a Sunday carvery with my parents, and we had a wonderful time. The food was excellent, and the service from Anya was equally excellent - she went above and beyond to make sure our visit was enjoyable. I definitely recommend visiting, even if you're not in the area.
- Pebbs_bams (10/5): Great food and fantastic service - Great food and fantastic service! Nikki and Eva made it extra special with their customer service! Highly recommend! Laura and Matt
- MatthewD594 (10/5): Excellent Pub for lunch or dinner. - We had a wonderful lunch here on boxing day. Even though they were busy, Anya and Sophie could not have been more helpful and went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. We've already been here for dinner as well and that was superb.
- Simon (8/5): - Lovely little stop off for our next adventure.
- D3296AHpauln (8/5): Good carvery - plenty of choice - We had a Sunday carvery for a group of 10 of us. Service was really good thanks to Sophie. Good selection of meats and vegetables.
- Debbie (9/5): -
- 515izzym (10/5): Excellent - Excellent food. We had a three course meal, beautifully presented and tasted wonderful.
Highly recommend. Wonderful pub.
- Trail64900922491 (10/5): Great carvery an staff especially Anya ... amazing ♥️ - Had a carvery ( Sunday) lovely food, great service, staff members all great, Anya ( smiler my Dad said) you were amazing! Thankyou for a great lunch! Will be back ♥️
- Lauren (7/5): Great for wedding guests to rest your head - Room was clean & shower was brilliant The bar & restaurant is in desperate need of TLC
- donnanA8382LK (10/5): 10 OUTA 10 ✅ - Had such a lovely meal, the service is impeccable and the chef seems to have a special edge giving the meal a touch of magic ! Thank you Windmill Inn 💥
- Ross (10/5): Great friendly place - The people at the hotel were lovely and friendly and made you feel welcome. Nothing was to big for them. Nothing
- Sheila (8/5): -
- Deirdre (7/5): Wedding stay - It was very close to St Audries Park, where we were at a wedding
Loved the little balcoy and the view. The light was broken on the steps up into the accommodation, and it was very dark.
The drinks were charged separately at breakfast, and rather than giving a pot of tea - it was just a cup 😔.
- David (9/5): Only stayed one night but everything was fine - The room was a good size and very clean NA
- Melvyn (8/5): -
- Donna (10/5): - I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough. The staff alone make this a place worth staying at. Nicky, behind the bar, was so welcoming and even offered us a lift back from a wedding we were attending. And the breakfast is first class!
- Linda (9/5): Excellent location for the wedding we were attending. - Breakfast was good although the menu was not extensive. Blinds in the room require repair but did not affect our stay.
- Kate (10/5): - Great stay. Very close to the family wedding venue. Comfortable rooms. Clean. Staff excellent. Very helpful.
- Ian (8/5): Goos - Nice Nothing
- Randy (10/5): Nice stop. - Good value for our one night stop. Pub was excellent and staff friendly.
- Tim (10/5): - Our 2nd visit to the Windmill, a lovely place to stay with super rooms. The host is very welcoming and we will certainly be returning
- Elizabeth (8/5): Comfy stay near the wedding venue but beware catering! - The room was very comfortable and the female member of staff looking after me was very chatty and personable. Breakfast is rather expensive (and not included!) at £15 for a cooked breakfast, £5 for toast and jam or £7 for a bacon roll! That and the evening meal, whilst similarly priced, did give me mild food poisoning (I had the fish and chips, spent the early hours being rather ill!)
- Christine (10/5): - Staff, location, service Out door seating on our veranda covered in cobwebs and cigarette ash and found menu very limited
- Gina (8/5): Huge - The room was huge and had a huge bathroom. The shower was really powerful. Plenty of parking and convenient breakfast in the morning. The pillows weren't the best but they did the job
- Robert (10/5): A very pleasant experience and will certainly come again. - The room was clean and tidy and the bed was very comfortable. My wife and I had a evening meal of fish, chips and crushed peas and it was the probably the best we have ever tasted! The all the staff were very friendly and attentive. Nothing.
- Shubby (10/5): -
- gails771 (6/5): Pre wedding stay - We stayed here the night before a wedding across the road at St Audries , location wise was ideal , room itself was clean and comfortable and well equipped with small sitting out balcony at the back.
But what I found seriously lacking was a warm welcome and good customer service!! We were greeted by a sullen lady and no warm welcome, basically it was “£140 and £100 and your rooms up there “ so not a great start but as I said at least the rooms were ok ! We had a family meal arranged at night which would have generated some good revenue for the inn but again even arranging drinks seemed an inconvenience to the lady ? They had no vodka or gin from what I was told - really 🤔 the food itself was ok for what we had.
We had breakfast the next morning but having a chip cup and coffee dribbled down the cups and then a selection of jams dumped on the table rather than a wee side plate or wee basket attention to detail seriously lacking !
All in all yes great location if attending St Audries but some constructive criticism please improve your customer service as it makes everyone’s life easier and better including yourselves unless you aren’t enjoying it ? But as most jobs you need to put your happy face on when dealing with the public !
- Natalie (7/5): Good -
- Jacqui (5/5): Needs a refurbishment, tired looking - The location Very tired and old fashioned decor
- Mackertich (8/5): Very good - Lovely setting. Nice Sunday roast dinner.
- DaearLlais (10/5): An excellent experience. Highly recommend - Visited June 20th 2025.
Staff are welcoming, friendly, and approachable. Liv and Anya could not have done more to be accommodating and attentive. They did everything they could to ensure our complete satisfaction. The chef takes pride in what comes out of the kitchen. Obviously very conscientious. Menu items were swapped at my request and my steak was outstanding! My husband was very pleased with his burger. A lovely evening meal experience in pleasant surroundings.
- Alastair (8/5): Very happy customer - Lovely location, lovely room with a balcony and wonderful staff and food. Nothing
- everett902 (10/5): Excellent place to meet friends. - As regulars we are always sure of a lovely welcome and excellent service from Libby and Carly.
Having a dog is no problem at all as he is made welcome as much as we are.
Often we come with another couple and they always ask to meet here because they like the view.
- grahamandhayleyh (10/5): Excellent - Liv and karly who served us made us feel so welcome and we're very helpful and friendly they are a credit to you.
The food was exceptional
We had the special main course which was delicious and Eaton messaged for desert, we will definitely recommend you and visit again
- Z3521QDiang (10/5): Fantastic breakfast - Excellent breakfast with local fresh ingredients and fantastic service from Liv and with fantastic views from the restaurant we will be returning soon.
- Lyn (7/5): Was a good break - Location Didn’t refresh room daily. No clean cups milk tea bags
- Archie (8/5): - Hello VAT receipt please emailed as seen on messages
- Nigel (8/5): Great value and very helpful staff - Great location for exploring this beautiful area with eating facility on site as well as free car parking. Easy walking distance to the wedding venue at St Audries Park.
- Don (9/5): Superb - Clean, tidy and super friendly staff. Food quality excellent. Breakfast cost extra.
- ronmZ8754WG (10/5): Doorway to the west country - The hotel has very easy access to ample parking and is very welcoming. The rooms are spacious with nice views over the valley and the staff are brilliant. Well worth a visit, you will not be disappointed. Also very easy to find being just off the A39 coast road .
- Estelle (9/5): Good place to stop on the Coleridge Way - A comfortable room and good food
- dianeabelabucko (10/5): Good food, beautiful views and dog friendly! - Great place to visit if you want to dine and take your dogs. The staff were really accommodating. Reserved us a large private area so our 3 dogs had space to sit whilst we ate. Food was lovely. Recommend the fish and chips and the turkey and gammon pie. Delicious and good value for money. If the weather had been better our visit would have been even more enjoyable as we would have been able to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful views. Would definitely go back!
- estellep405 (10/5): Delicious food - We ate in the restaurant and the food was innovative and delicious. The sea bream was perfectly cooked and the vegetarian option containing heritage tomatoes, focaccia and asparagus was tasty. Anya served us with a lovely smile. Our hotel rooms were also comfortable with everything we needed.
- MHooters (10/5): Sunday Carvery - Lovely Sunday carvery. Great choice of vegetables and sauces. We were served by Sophie who was charming and also Anya and Liv. Good value and attention to detail, plenty of room and outside area for enjoying when weather is favourable. Would certainly recommend. We have booked in for Father's Day too.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- 27libertyw (10/5): Welcoming and great food! - Liv was very friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious and filling and we were able to be served very close to closing time which we were very grateful for after a 5 hour drive!

- Vlad (10/5): One to revisit - Great location with beautiful view. Clean room and good food.
- Samuel (10/5): James (the owner) was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. My partner has Celiac disease and James went out of - Quiet location, comfortable, great staff. N/A
- Emma (5/5): Uncomfortable sleep + dirty room - The staff were very friendly and helpful
The food was very tasty, we eat in the evening and had breakfast, which we thought was included in our price but was told it wasn’t when we checked in 🫤 Our room was no 3 so we had the road noise but the worst thing was the mould in the bedroom and bathroom. The bed was very uncomfortable. Also the bedside cabinets and desk were very sticky. There was also a stain on the chair and the carpet could have done with a wash, we stayed for 2 nights and they didn’t come in to top up milk/ tea station or toilet paper so we had to go and get some
- Олександр (10/5): All good - Room is very big and comfortable bed

Thank you to the chef who provided a wonderful afternoon tea.

- 456joek (10/5): Excellent meal in this superb relaxed restaurant - Where relaxed and homely meets fine dining.
A lovely pub restaurant with a really relaxed, friendly and warm feel in a superb location. You can even see the sea through the trees on a clear day.
Excellent food, great view to look out to and fantastic service from our hosts Anya and Karly.
Highly recommend the pie, it's a different flavour each time, but yet to find one I haven't loved. It's a proper pie too, not just a lid! The soup of the day on this occasion was mushroom which was delicious.
Looking forward to coming again as we always do when we're down.
- Other bits -
Plenty of free parking
Often more items on the specials board
Perfect for a quiet drink or a full family meal
Worth reserving a table but haven't had an issue turning up when out of peak season
The Sunday carvery is also very delicious with a great selection of veg you don't often get at other places
