Very nice. I love that except for one but overall they were no good alternative for the morning breakfast the lunch menu was reasonable. The room had no iron or ironing board no microwave no fridge The friendly staff the people working at the bar we’re also friendly the night wings and chips were good big potions

As for food, definitely not catering to tourists. It's been 32 years since I visited Guyana, and I don't eat White flour or Daily products because of medical issues so had a tough time finding variety on the the menu. The rooms are dated - they need a face lift. The days of dark commercial carpeting on the floor is unsightly. Not even sure if the floor is clean. The bathroom needs to be updated.

- Christina (9/5): Pretty great stay! I would do stay here again - Very unique property. I like the trees and the open concept dining area. The room was clean and spacious. The best thing about this hotel was the staff. Everyone was very kind and helpful. Hospitality was 10/10. Special shoutout to Ms. Cheryl, Robert, Kevin, the manager and the happy gentlemen at the front of the hotel who always seemed excited to be there greeting guests. This is a wonderful hotel and I would definitely stay here again. The price was very reasonable and the location was great, close to family on the east coast and places in GT as well as Ogle if you’re planning to do Kaieteur. For taxis, I would recommend using the hotel taxis just book in advance. I liked everything

Not long term - Checking in and out at odd times is accommodating to those with flight times. Staff is helpful Very very old out dated smelly rooms. Bathroom very uninviting dirty feeling. Shower tub is placed so oddly, it’s easy to lose your balance. There is no food availability especially if you come late in the night

- Makéda (10/5): Great stay! - The establishment itself is beautiful. Under construction at the minute but that did not affect our stay in the slightest. Food was delightful. Especially the buffet! Staff went above and beyond to accommodate. Our room was on the first floor, and after the first two nights in the heat with the stairs, I began to struggle due to health issues, so the girls at reception went out of their way to upgrade my room to a newly refurbished, ground floor. Besham delivered us safely and collected us on time, to and from all our excursions, including Mash (carnival) which is no mean feat with road closures and hectic traffic we love Besham! Romell was also a great driver, picking us up from the airport and Shivran dropping us off in time in spite of bad traffic and us leaving a little late!. Finally, Tamika, this woman is an asset to the hotel in general. Meal time services with a smile, all the best advice on how to utilise our stay to the highest capacity. Checking in on us in general and overall, just making us feel so welcome and loved! Could do with some type of sound proofing from the road for morning time noise from the main road but not a massive issue. Its a very small minus that there are no sun loungers on the property. An area to relax in the sun and catch a tan aside from getting wet in the pool would have rounded off my experience nicely since there are places to visit and enjoy the lovely weather but they are all a cab fare away and some days would have liked to have just chilled at the hotel and bathed with a book! However, neither of these pointd would prevent me from booking again in the future.

Our bartender, a short gentleman with a dark complexion whose name I unfortunately don’t remember, was also very warm and provided excellent service. The penthouse suite was nice and we enjoyed our time overall. That said, at that price point, we felt breakfast could have been included, especially since similar rates at some newer hotels often come with that added value including gym Nonetheless, it was a good stay and we appreciated the hospitality from the team.

- heras2014 (10/5): PLEASANTLY SURPRISED - Pleasantly surprised with the courtesy and friendliness of all staff.- shout out to Robert and Kevin - Reception staff are very professional , prompt, and courteous especially during my initial inquiry from Canada. -shout out to Sophiya and Bibi. Cleanliness was superb, staff are continuously touching up here and there. Room care people were very prompt and neat. Room can be momentarily noisy when cars with boom boxes pass with their windows open and speakers pointed in hotel direction. travelled with a group of seven. for seven nights -six born in Canada -.my 18 month great grand daughter had a daily fascination with the passing traffic once in a while standing beside the fence staring out. SUGGESTIONS: Please install hand rail in shower. Please place an additional simple chair in room.- only has one at desk. Please accept credit and over phone during reservation . ( any reason why not? ) WILL DEFINITELY STAY AGAIN.

- donnau380 (2/5): Horrible experience - My experience with the Grand Coastal Hotel was extremely troubling and disappointing. In September, I booked a two-week stay through the Expedia app for travel scheduled in late December into early January. Within two weeks of making that reservation — and well in advance of my travel dates — I properly canceled the booking through Expedia after making alternate arrangements for a larger group traveling to Guyana. Months later, I discovered a charge of over $4,000 on my credit card from this hotel. When I contacted Expedia, they acknowledged that something had clearly gone wrong and began reviewing the matter. However, when I contacted the Grand Coastal directly, I was told I had been marked as a “no-show” and that they were therefore entitled to keep the full amount. To be absolutely clear: The reservation was canceled weeks in advance. I never checked in. I never stepped foot on the property. All booking and cancellation actions were completed through Expedia. Despite this, the hotel showed no urgency to investigate, no willingness to collaborate in resolving what was clearly a systems or administrative error, and no accountability in addressing a charge of this magnitude. It is deeply concerning when a property is quick to classify a guest as a “no-show” while disregarding documented cancellation through a third-party booking platform. Errors can happen — but professionalism is measured by how those errors are handled. In this case, there was a complete absence of responsibility and customer care. Travelers deserve transparency, fairness, and basic due diligence — especially when thousands of dollars are involved. Proceed carefully.
- christinag7 (8/5): Great deal for the price! - The service was great. Staff were very polite at all times and helpful if they needed to be of assistance. The stay was wonderful. Just two down sides that can be easily corrected are the need to work on the flies during breakfast and lunch since they were a bit bothersome even though not outrageous. In addition, the bathrooms can be updated to enhance the stay. I will definitely stay again if I need to and hope for the minor corrections to be made.
- D240TWjohnn (2/5): Excessive noise ruined stay - It is unfortunate the local road was widened and now sits right on the front edge of the property. Rooms not sound proofed around door or windows so noise was excessive to the point of it was hard to sleep. Even loud TV noise from the bar was loud. the bar and foyer is open to the outside but noise and auto fumes made it very unpleasant to sit out in those areas. We arrived early but were charged for a whole day even though a room was available after an hour wait. Initially toilet would not flush but water pressure eventually came back and it worked. Breakfast buffet did not look that good, flies around, etc but food off the menu was good. Also was 1.5-2hr drive to GEO airport due to traffic and road construction. We cancelled and stayed closer to airport for departing flight.

The property was spotless clean, the food was excellent, and the overall vibe was relaxed, welcoming, and comfortable—exactly what you want when traveling. A special shout-out to the incredible staff who truly made our stay memorable: Ferguson from security, Romel in transport, Roxanne and Patricia who were so helpful and responsive via WhatsApp, the lovely women at the front desk, and the fantastic bar staff. Everyone was professional, friendly, and genuinely caring. We felt well taken care of from start to finish and can’t wait to return. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Guyana.

Inconsistent information depending who you speak to. Staff are too chatty in the the early morning making it difficult to sleep. Couldn't wait to get home to get some decent sleep
- Nikita (7/5): Good stay - The food was amazing & the staff are very welcoming and honestly very professional. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. The main thing is they have local food and drinks which we couldn’t even find anywhere else. Unfortunately the pool was under construction which was a shame as I was travelling with a young child. There wasn’t much to do otherwise in terms of if your travelling with children apart from the pool. Our room was lovely apart from the shower leaking it was otherwise good. With all the works going on within the hotel I didn’t think the price was appropriate for our stay but it was a lovely stay just wish the hotel had more to do.

- patmB5271GD (2/5): Book at your own risk. - Book at your own risk. The pictures on website are nice but when you get there , it's a whole other reality. I booked to spend 9 nights but ended up checking out the same day. The room was small and had no furniture besides a bed. I had no where to rest my suitcase. On top of that the room smelled , had stains on the sheet , pillow case , cnd on the one chair in the room. Everythjng looked real old. That was not the worse. I stepped out of my room and was greeted by a rat. I Also it was raining that night and there was water all over the hallway. I had to be careful not to fall. I got there after midnjght and did not sleep as the bed sheet was disgusting. I checked out first thjng in the morning and they still charged me for the 9 nights. Accordind to them I did not give more than 24 hours notice of my cancellatiom. My argument is they did not gjve me notice that the room was disgusting. I had to go back and forth with them. They ended up refunding 6 nights but still charged me for 3 nights even though I barely spent 1 night there.

I know that because 10 - 12 hours after the bake and salt fish was made, I ate it on the plane back to NY that evening and it tasted as great as it was in the morning. I truly hated that 2 weeks prior to check-in, the hotel deducted 50% of my 8 day charges from my credit card. Then, 2 days prior to check-in they took the other 50%. So that 2 days before check-in, the hotel had deducted, yes paid themselves, 100% of my stay from my credit card. Mgt's excuse, especially for the first, was unacceptable. Also, I had to request a breakdown of my charges vs the total which they were offering me on check-in. Further, the bottom of the clothes iron which was burnt black, ruined my new dress shirt which I was supposed to wear to a wedding on New Years day. (NOTE: At any good hotel, to ensure continued patronage, the room n its facilities should be thoroughly checked prior to any guest checking in. There should never be a request for a room change).

- matthewhT9410EE (6/5): Good Hotel But Better Can Be Done - A few: 1) It was my birthday and I stated that in the booking.com booking but there was zero recognition of that upon arrival to my room. 2) The hostess would take a very long time to come to check and see if everything is okay or not. 3) The hostess also took a very long time to bring the bill to sign, so many times myself and other guests I spoke to are just there sitting waiting for 10 mins and looking around trying to get eye contact with someone. 4) My food came cold on two occasions. Not sure if staff was short because on those two occasions I ordered from by the bar and there was only one Barman. He had to be back and forth, which often times caused for the bar space to be unattended. So maybe in his efforts in being pulled everywhere he forgot to collect the food from the kitchen….he shouldn’t be collecting the food in any case. 5) Receptionist team- lovely ladies but sometimes seemed clueless to certain questions. I also requested a late checkout the night before with the Night Auditor, due to a delayed flight and it seems that request was not passed on because no one got back to me. I received a call at 10:55 with a reminder to checkout. Overall the hotel is a nice boutique hotel but more training is needed. My perspective as a pass 5star 5diamond employee at a luxury hotel and a past hospitality recruitment manager may have caused my observations to be more in-depth but this will help to improve the level of service, especially as a hotel with awards. Overall the food was good and the space was clean. The pool seemed useless as no one uses it due to the placement. It sits right infront of a dining/eating area. So I wasn’t able to enjoy that amenity. My suggestion for there would be to put up a nice bedazzled wall with a nice fountain feature, so blocking off the pool doesn’t take away from the overall feature and esthetic of water etc. But the wall now would make guest feel more comfortable using the pool and receiving bar service from the side of the bar. Overall nice staff just additional training and or maybe better staff management needed so employees can focus more on guest satisfaction and good service and not so much just getting the service done. Housekeeping was great and punctual, no issues there and so was maintenance when I had a slight AC remote issue. I will visit again but personalize the guest experience more as a boutique hotel so you will continue to standout even after other well known hotels are built.

- ianrogers2025 (6/5): Business Stay - I stayed for three nights and asked for a quiet room as I do not sleep well. The traffic noise was in tolerable 24/7. It sounded like the traffic was right outside my room door. As a result I had very little sleep.

- Ian (3/5): Very noisey! - Location for what I was doing was good, but it is out of town. The restaurant facility was good. The hotel is along side one of the main arterial dual carriage ways and the traffic noise was intense 24/7, which seriously impacted my ability to sleep. The main facility was basic but comfortable. The menu was quite restrictive.
- TND203 (8/5): Convenient Hotel Stay - The hotel rooms are exceptionally clean. There was a strong smell, (maybe paint?) in room 202 which was not so good. The staff is friendly and responsive. Having transportation services helps alot with planning trips around the area. Romel was a great driver, friendly, professional and very helpful. Brian was also friendly and provided great service with transportation. Tiffany from the front desk was efficient, informative and nice. The salon services are wonderful! You can get manicures and pedicures. My mom really enjoyed the massage service. The location is convenient, right off the main road, 15 minutes from Georgetown. TV service was a little hard to navigate, with the different remotes, especially for older folks. Having printed Instructions would be helpful.

- AnneDSurrey (6/5): Nice boutique hotel with lovely staff - Stayed here for 4 nights in November. Initially given room 201 which is a really lovely large and bright room, but the noise from the roadway outside was horrendous. That, and the fact the roof is corrugated iron and the rain pelting down only added to the misery. Because they were fully booked, they weren’t able to move us to a quieter room for 2 nights, but we were grateful for that. Not ideal after a very long flight. The bar overlooks that same busy carriageway which makes the bar area difficult to relax in. The pool was out of action because of reconstruction and despite they making it sound like it was only for a short while, it’s obvious from reviews that it’s been out of action for months. When asked about completion the response is vague. No prior notice was given when booking and no discount offered. The food is okay, not wonderful but ok for Guyana standard, Having said that, the open plan layout of the hotel is charming and the staff and waiting staff are extremely friendly and do a good job. The taxi service they offer is amazing and we were lucky to have the services of Brian, Besham, Raj and Rommel. We paid for a private 3 hour tour of Georgetown with Besham and he took us to as many places as he could with care and lots of information, and we got to see the nooks and crannies of Georgetown. We would stay again if the noise problem was sorted, but if that doesn’t bother you then this is a very charming boutique hotel.
- W6619PTjessicad (6/5): Terrible service, mediocre hotel - Should be much better than it is. The reception staff are AWFUL. They are rude, dismissive and don't know anything about the hotel or area. The food is bad but the wait staff are nice. Pool is under construction but they don't tell you that nor give a discount so don't choose this hotel if it's because of the pool.

- mervynm2023 (10/5): A highly recommended place to stay in Guyana. - I stayed at the Grand Coastal for 4 weeks and in that time the staff was very friendly and hard working. And what I noticed, they took great pleasure in looking after their house. In doing so,making it very enjoyable for the guests. The food was excellent as for the service. And the following people made our stay incredible: Tamica, Sandy, Leshawn,Kevin, Troy, Operah, Natasha, Colin, Melisa, Moln, Vidva, Dianne, Sophiah, miss Ashley, Husein, Brian and many others.
- nw3yky40yp (8/5): Nice place but very noisy - The Grand Costal Hotel is a very nice property. Unfortunately, it is also very noisy. The street traffic noise of trucks, horns, and incredibly loud vehicle boom boxes is near constant and the music from the bar adds to the issue. The staff are most friendly and the food is very good. Service is slow.

- Joseph (7/5): Good rooms, friendly staff but noisy - Rooms were really clean and spacious, plenty of room for luggage and bags. Beds are large and really comfortable and air conditioning was excellent. Shower rooms big with good water pressure. The bar area is a good place to get a few ice cold beers - necessity given the heat. It has a restaurant with decent variety of dishes at reasonable prices $20 - $30, can't go wrong with the chicken curry. Restaurant has a section outside and an inside which is air conditioned. Reception is staffed most hours and quite useful for exchanging money to local currency. Lots of staff around, friendly and approachable. A couple of issues that I did raise with the staff were eventually dealt with satisfactorily. Recent developments have resulted in a 6 lane motorway running just meters away from the outside bar/restaurant area, which means that there is a lot of noise coming through, difficult to chill out. The other main issue for me was that some of the rooms on the ground floor are very close to the restaurant/bar area, no more than 10m away. Restaurant is used for breakfast, and dinner which means that there is a lot of noise, again making it difficult to relax, sleep at certain times of the day. There are rooms at the side of the hotel which are quieter so these are a better option for a peaceful stay. Also, the swimming pool was under repair when I visited.

Staff are pleasant not friendly. Ammenities need to be upgraded. Ac broke down during the night. We cooked all night.But they were attentive to it in the morning. Ask for Romel to take you around. He is friendly.

- O2215ZGmikes (8/5): In easy reach of Georgetown - We arrived at this holiday resort called Grand Coastal located in a busy and upbeat area. Walking was quite easy to the Bank of Demerara being close. The Republic Bank was further away but I managed to get back on the minibus which short drop was $ GT 200 dollars. Very convenient and comfortable stroll! Our room was on on the ground floor which the hotel staff accommodated me due to my disability and unable to use stairs. Our room was very clean, comfortable and spacious. Our bathroom suite was on point and had all amenities necessary for a week's stay. Ample luxurious towels, shampoo, conditioner and soap, plus a hairdryer which was fantastic to see and use. Our room was cleaned daily to s high professional standards. Staff excellent and efficient at all times, bar and dining areas. I used the Hair Salon to get my hair coloured and a blunt cut. I also managed to get a head message which was "the business." We also used Grand Coastal 🚕 taxi and on both occasions was driven by Romel who was a very careful and safe driver. He is a very pleasant and knowledgeable about Guyana 's history also. Thank you Romel for your kindness helping me in and out of the taxi The only criticism I have is the pool was under renovation. Continued success Grand Coastal,we will be back?

The pool which is part of the amenities and the main reason i booked the hotel, was unfer renovation which will last 5 weeks. (09/25/25, the date i visited). I was not informed thru expedia at all. I was notified at the hotel at the very last minute when i asked about the pool.
- Latchman1953 (8/5): Another good stay - Colin, Leon, Aunty Baby ( cook) gave us the best experience as customer service could be. Colin always keep check up on us. Known him for many years as we are one of the loyal guest since Mr Mokesh Daby was running the show. He is a a loyal employee and care about the hotel and their guest. Well trained by Mr. Mokesh. Leon ( tax driver) very safe and trustworthy . Make us very safe and give us the confidence to be in his company. Aunty Baby best cook. Always maintain her cooking standard since ages when we started visiting the hotel. Another loyal employee and trained by Mr. Mokesh. Colin and Aunty Baby upkeep the standard in the food department. There are indifference with some of the other employees. It is not their standard that I know some them have. They gave better service on our previous stays. They are not rude or lack of service but something is not right with their performance. It seems something is hidden. As to the administrative staff: This area needs to revamp. Do not criticise the guest in social media. If a guest write a bad review or complain it is within them to say the fact because you invite them to review you. You do not pay them to do it. It takes time to write a review. They care about your hotel. It defeated the purpose to know how the hotel is doing. You are encouraging them to write good reviews and NOT mentioning anything bad because they are afraid . Broken things in room would not be fixed because they did not to complain.
- Dawn (6/5): Would have higher rating if pool available but still noisy… - Room I would compare to a UK Premier Inn. Functional and comfortable. Some of the bathroom needed updating and no power shower just shower over a bath. Seals needed attention. Good towels and air on. Staff were calm, helpful and friendly so a highlight. Swimming pool which was reason we booked was under renovation so unusable. This should have been made clear before booking as we would have gone somewhere else. Only area to sit comfortably outside room was without any air on or fans and very hot. Also terribly loud background noise from the road which was only 25feet away and the main road. We had stayed 2 nights a week before for half the price in Georgetown but it had no pool. Had we known we would have remained there. Breakfast was given as a sorry no pool and it was very good. No pool, noise from road, hot outside if the room.

- Nandy (6/5): Food is great, but........ - Delicious food. Waiters and waitresses and the service staff were lovely. Paid for a room for 1/2 of a day (late check out) so we could store our luggage and confidential stuff. We wete told that we can get the room, but we can't lie on the bed, put anything on it or mess it up. I Paid over 17kGYD just to store my items in a room, only to be told we can't even use the bed. To make things worse, when we returned to the room to get our things, my 72 yr old mother was unwell. She was having dizzy spells. Remembering we were told we can't use the bed, she sat in the chair in the room instead of laid on the bed which she should've done.
- Parbhu (10/5): - This was my second stay at GCH and it was just as enjoyable as the first. The staff were friendly and accommodating, especially our waitress Leshawn, who made our experience even better. The only drawback was that the pool was closed for renovations, which was a bit disappointing

- Kurt (8/5): - I have stayed at grand costal a lot of times due to work but I was never placed in a old gloomy room with cracked walls, tv remote not working and a paint job that looks like it was done in a hurry just to name a few this was the first time. If it was me alone I wouldn't have mind but after bragging so much about grand costal to my partner. And when I finally take her to the hotel on a date night we were placed in probably the oldest room the hotel has. To be honest I was so disappointed because I had never had this experience with the hotel before probably all the good rooms were booked out but I think it should've been communicated. But besides that the customer service and the food are off the charts probably best in the business.
