• Derek (10/5): Get ready to meet you new Peruvian family! - Darrio and Gigi were the best! They treat every traveler like a new part of their family. They are so generous with their time and recommendations. You'll come for the accommodations but leave with a second set of parents. I can't say enough good things about these two. Dario is an avid surfer and will help anyone with their surfing needs while there. Both have great suggestions for things to do and see while in town. The property has a bunch of cute little cats running around and an amazing dog. The property is about two blocks from the beach, so very ideal location for surfers and anyone who wants to be close to the water. Do yourself a favour and stay for longer than you think you want.

• Ben (10/5): Best hostel in Peru! - We had the best time staying at Punta Huanchaco Hostel! Gigi and Dario were our highlight, so kind, friendly and made our stay unforgettable. They really went above and beyond. The hostel is very clean, comfy and has everything you could need. The cats and dog are also just the cutest. It really felt like a home away from home and didn’t want to leave. Would 100% recommend and would love to come back. Absolutely nothing

• Isabella (10/5): Absolutely wonderful and homey! - Gigi and Dario are such wonderful hosts! They made me feel as if I was at home and I adored hanging with the cats, they were lovely and well behaved. The amenities were perfect for the location, it being a small coastal town - clean, comfortable, and with strong WiFi for working days, too! Very walkable to the center of town and all of the surf lessons and beaches. Super safe area, just a few blocks away from the Main Street so it’s nice and quiet.

The accomidation was clean with spacious rooms, lots of common areas and within walking distance to the beach and restaurants. I can’t fault this place, it was incredible!! • Parkhouse (10/5): Great place, great location and great hosts - First of all Gigi and Dario are the most welcoming and friendly hosts, you are made to feel part of the family. Always willing to oblige, provide advice or just chat. The hostel is very laid back and during the 2.5 weeks I was there so was the assortment of travellers that passed through. I was in a room with my wife and there are also shared rooms - they are basic but entirely adequate. If you are a surfer Dario is your man, and if you're coming from Cusco bring some Cocla Tradicion Cafe (ground, in a green bag) and Gigi will be a friend for life. There is a fantastic restaurant around the corner, busy, clean and great value, a couple of stores nearby if you want anything, or to prepare your own meals in the kitchen. All you need. I was sad to say goodbye. Nada. My Spanish is still terrible, their English is too good.
• India (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay with Gigi and Dario. They were great hosts and we felt so welcome and comfortable. We loved just hanging at the hostel with the cats but there are also nice cafes and restaurants close by and Dario has great surfing recommendations. Kitchen was well equipped and the hostel was always clean, shower was great! Could easily have stayed longer, we were sad to leave. Gigi also helps all the local animals and is a wonderful person, any support is very gratefully received. Nothing.

• Sebastian (9/5): Great stay! - We had a good time here. The owner is very friendly and will help you with any problem you have. The room was very clean and had all the essentials (a bed and a desk). The room had no outside window but that is quite common in Peru. The bathrooms were very clean as well. The common space was very cozy. Especially the saved cats were adorable. The laundry service was very good as well. The hostel is located right next to the beach and the main street with everything in walking distance. If you are very allergic to cats it's maybe not the right place for you.

Great spot to come to serf and chill and meet new great people. I stayed in total for almost 3 weeks and I wish to stay even longer. Thank you Dario and Gigi for this amazing time I could spend with you 🫶🏽

Stay here if you like being in a friendly atmosphere, super clean space, and you love animals (they have adorable cats and friendly street dogs hang around because the owner is a saint and all the animals love her). They know the town well and give great recommendations for places to eat or where to take surf classes, can help you with public transportation or knowing Trujillo or nearby ruins. They have a nice shared kitchen, water filter, outdoor shower, gym and public spaces to hangout in, wifi strong enough to work online, and all the best vibes.

• Jd (10/5): Exceptional - Really homely feel to the hostel. I immediately felt completely at home here. Dario and Gigi were most welcoming hosts and have created a wonderful chilled environment for all their guests. The place felt more like a home than a hostel without feeling you were intruding at all. Everyone was happy, friendly and helpful, be it guests or Spike the volunteer. I really liked it here and will certainly return but the next time for longer. Huanchaco is a very friendly welcoming small town that I know I need to visit again. Slainte ☘️ Nothing. Dario and Gigi plus feline family were the perfect hosts. What I didn't like was only having 2 nights there.

Comfortable accommodation (I booked a private room with bathroom), a block to the beach, racks to keep your surfboard, a very functional kitchen. I'm an older solo traveler and really feel at home here, so much so that I've extended my stay twice now. And it's not a party place if that's your thing. Nothing
• Sophie (9/5): Superb - Good location on a quieter street but still close to everything and near to shops to buy fruit etc. Hostel owners are really nice and friendly, gave us recommendations and made us feel at home. They have 6 (I think!) cats which we loved but if you have allergies might not be so good. Kitchen was decent and you could refill your water bottles. There was a small confusion about the room booking but it wasn’t a massive deal and was all worked out.

Clean hostel with some exceptional recommendations by the Dario and Gigi! They also have a nice chill terrace and a spacious room for yoga and weight lifting! They helped us with early check in and our bus was in the evening and they allowed us to stay longer. Can’t be more grateful 🙏🏻 Also, be ready to loose your count when you start seeing the cats at the property 😋 Loved everything and if I come back ever I would choose to stay with them again ❤️ Everything was perfect

The rooms are simple, comfortable, and clean, making it a great place to relax in the heart of Huanchaco. Gigi and Dario, the hosts, are incredibly welcoming and go out of their way to ensure you have a fantastic stay. The six rescue cats roaming the hostel add a charming touch and make the atmosphere feel even more homey. If you're looking for a spot to unwind with great value for money, we recommend Punta Huanchaco Hostel! Nothing

• Mary (10/5): Lovely, relaxed place to stay - It has everything you need - well equipped, clean kitchen, fast Wi-Fi, a nice terrace and yoga room. Bathrooms were clean. Dario and Gigi were so friendly and helpful cats were very cute. It was mostly couples staying there, so at times I felt a little lonely, but I think it’s just the time of year.

• Issa (10/5): Best hostel ever!! - stop looking at other hostels in huanchaco and just stay here, trust me! if you love hostels that feel like one big family, this is the perfect place. the hostel mom and dad are Dario and Gigi, a lovely couple who always take the time to get to know every newcomer, are always down for a chat, and are always ready to help you with anything you need. they radiate a genuine sense of hospitality thats rare and hard to comeby elsewhere. the hostel is small of around 15-20 spots which makes for a cute and homely atmosphere. i have many fond memories of going out with everyone to surf together, drinking a beer at sunset, chatting and hanging out on the terasses, cooking, playing games, and going out for dinner together. the fascilities are great. theres a well-equipped and spotless kitchen, the beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are nice and spacious. the entire hostel is cleaned thoroughly everyday. the living room is perfect for relaxing together, with 5 adorable cats that are always down to cuddle. theres a nice spatious downstairs area with tables and chairs, and another large balcony terrass to chill in. plus a yoga room to top it off! the location is perfect. one reason is for surfing: because the current carries you northwards, its convenient to paddle out closer to the south side, where the hostel is located. another reason is that its close to many restaurants, only a 5 minute walk from the coolest beach club in town called Frogs, and directly opposite 2 convenience stores. The most awesome surfschool ever (Muchik), is only 7 minutes away and is directly opposite the best place to surf as a beginner. I highly recommend going to muchik if you want to learn how to surf. The surfinstructors there are so much fun and very attentive. They became very close friends of mine throughout my stay. leaving this place was a hard thing to do and i stayed for over 6 weeks. Nothing!

• Dominik (10/5): Perfect Hostel for some relaxing days - Gigi and Dario are the best hosts you can imagine. They are incredibly nice and helped us with everything we needed, like tips on foods and visiting the ancient city of chan chan and the huaca de la luna. There is free water tea and coffee all day long. The room itself was comfy and spacious. The bath is shared with one other room, which was fine. Bath was cleaned every day. Well equipped kitchen for use. There are 6 lovly cats in the house, too. Definately recommand to stay here.

Within 5 nights I was moving 3 times to another room which was stressful. There are a lot I cats in the house and they even came to my room. I didn't like that cuz I'm allergic.. It was not allowed to use the kitchen after 10pm.

First of all Dario and Gigi are the loveliest people and were so so helpful and kind and they run a beautiful hostel. it has everything you need and is incredibly comfortable and the cats are sooo chill and nice to hang out with. also the place smells great I’d always walk in and be like wow it smells so good. overall just a great place to be !

What truly makes this place are Dario & Gigi. They are the two of most welcoming, beautiful people who run this place and we can’t thank them enough for all their great tips and really looked after us! The place was fantastic, super clean and the location was minutes away from a great surf spot! Nothing!

• Joris (9/5): Wonderful stay, with even more wonderful hosts! - Gigi and Dario are the most wonderful hosts you can imagine. Their English is perfect and they are always ready to help. They have 6 cats which are the friendliest, always ready to get cuddled. The location, quiet and safe, is next to the Main street with all kind of restaurants and a little supermarket. We even opted to stay one more night because we liked it so much. Huanchaco is a good place to visit the archeological sites, but also to relax on the beach (and surf, if you’re in to surfing!). The beds are definitely not bad, but we weren’t a huge fan. The mattresses seem to be memory foam. But that’s just personal preference :).

They were really thoughtful and gave us tips for where to book surfing lessons, where to eat and advice for the next place we're going to. The hostel is really relaxed, with a fully equipped kitchen, communal areas to chill out and in a perfect location with just a few minutes walk to the beach and all the main restaurants. If I'm ever back here, I'll definitely stay there again. Thanks Gigi and Dario 😃 No real complaints!

• Adam (10/5): Lovely stay, great hosts and near the surf - We booked three nights here and extended (and then returned) becuase we really enjoyed staying here. The hosts Gigi and Dario were lovely and always happy to help with recommendations, directions or surf information (including a great place to rent boards/have lessons). Overall it was very clean, the kitchen and shared bathrooms are cleaned daily. The kitchen was well equipped and was good even when the hostel was busy and filtered drinking water was provided free. Both dorms and private rooms were nice with plenty of space. The location was really close to the main surf point which was ideal for us, and they had a board rack and outside shower. They have several cats so if you are allergic may not be ideal but they are very nice and well behaved. If I am near huanchaco again I will definitely return!

• Furtadoworld (8/5): Nice price cost/benefit excelent/great for backpackers - Very good price, location was good as well, easy access, nice balcony to use the internet or socialize. rooms were fine, was nice to have bathroom inside the shared room for 6, extra social toilet downstairs in case of anything middle of the night. or whenever the one inside your room is busy. Be aware that it seems that most the guests are surfists or doing something related with surf, and they have somethings available for surf as well ( I dont rememember if they were renting or selling the bike or the surf equipment .. one or another). small markets everywhere on the street and you can easily buy stuff to eat. I need to be honest, the general crowd was fine, however they have some pets, and for more that it's a great incentive of not having the cats on the streets and doing the necessary care to them in order to castrate them, cats in general are everywhere on the lower floor, while you are required to remove shoes before get in (most of the guests are with sand from the beach which has black color ) however the couch and cushion are full cat's fur and upon sitting on it you will be full of it on your clothes, twice when I was eating cats come to you, and jump into the table, this part I did not like, I would say that it would be the same of having pets at home, and if you are comfortable to it, it's fine, and do not get me wrong, the place was good, staff was good, I like the project and what they do with the abandoned pets, but the jackpot is that cats are my least favourites.

• Gabriele (10/5): Exceptional - Great hostel with a homely feel. We only stayed there for one night, but would have happily stayed for more! The room was comfy, the kitchen was well equipped. The hosts were excellent! There is also a great atmosphere with the other travellers.

• Maaike (10/5): Excellent hostel, feels like home - Very nice hostel, felt like shared home with the other guests. Owners are very friendly and helpful, they're always around for a chat or help where needed. Nice and clean kitchen and shared areas. We hang around a lot on the terrace with other guests. Calm during the nights. Bakery, small market and restaurants... All around the corner. Mattress could be renewed, bathroom cleaned a bit better. But we enjoyed the room anyway and definately would book it again :-)

• Divya (7/5): average - Good location, very basic accommodation - no frills. our room wasn’t very well lit so it gave a dingy feel. I was bothered by the amount of cat hair everywhere in the common areas - didn’t feel like hanging out in those areas because of that. Bathrooms can use an upgrade. Bit of mould and rust.

• Parker (8/5): Loved the cats but beware :) - I loved the cats soooo much! They were so sweet and friendly! Staff were lovely for the most part. The room was clean and we'll cared for and the shower had hot water!! The kitchen was a bit messy but it seemed clean and had good equipment. I didn't have any warning about the fact the hostel has so many cats and I am allergic so it was an uncomfortable start to our stay (I was fine after antihistamines). For anyone else who is allergic there is no avoiding the hair, the cats are all over the place but they are really lovely so worth it!!
