- Sarah (9/5): Great property and good location - Lovely 2 bedroom property. Great location as can walk or bus to local attractions.

- Cheryl (10/5): It was a cosy experience and we love it! -
- Michelle (10/5): Candy was very helpful. - The house was traditional and set out well .
We had everything we needed. We loved everything.
- Miawko (9/5): Great place in Kioto - Great location, just about 15 - 20 minutes away from Kiyomizudera and Gion, but still in a quiet location. Good communication with the owners. The house has beautifully interiors and is very well equipped with home appliances. Minimal, but well kept garden offers a nice view and atmosphere in the living room. Also, sleep on futons and tatamis was very nice :) No central heating (seems to be normal in Japan) although you can keep the rooms warm with the AC. This is not really a complaint, but something to keep in mind when planning a visit during colder months.
- Deon (7/5): Good - I liked that it felt authentic There was only seating for 2 people in the living area, but we were 3 people, so one had to sit on the floor. We did not see any cushions provided.
- Carly (8/5): Loved it! - The villa felt like a home away from home, we loved the traditional feel. And the location was so convenient for our family, walking distance to so many of the traditional areas and site we hoped to see. Amenities were great especially washing/drying machine. The living space was a little small for meals but that wasn’t a major issue at all.
- Jennifer (10/5): All the comforts of home with old world charm - We absolutely loved staying here. All amenities have been provided—even dish soap, laundry detergent, plenty of hangers to dry your clothes, toiletries- and all eco friendly (bulk packaging rather than individual sizes). The stairs definitely took some getting used to as they are steep but there’s a plenty of lighting and a handrail. The futons were very comfortable and we appreciate being able to open the windows or run the A/C. Location was great and close to a main bus route. Our only recommendations would be to have one more chair in the living room (maybe one w a low back that can slide into the closet next to the couch) and couple small pillows for the couch (for we shortees).
- Alden (10/5): Live the Japanese experience - The stay was very traditional Japanese. Wood flooring on the base level, Tatami mats on the top level. There was even a small back garden. The atmosphere really cemented the fact that we were in Japan during our stay. The stay was at the end of a side alley street with other traditional residential houses that made me feel like I was living the experience instead of staying at a hotel. There is not a lot that I didn't like about the stay. The one gripe I have is that it might be a little hard to get to, though there are bus stops just off the main street, and a rideshare will drop you off at the head of the small street, not directly in front.
- Jacinta (8/5): Fabulous location with everything you need. - The villa is lovely and private with everything we needed. In a great location! Very comfortable. The stairs are very steep up to the bedrooms, and there’s really just seating for 3 in the living room.
- Anneleen (8/5): Very good - The house is very well located, close to public transport to visit all highlights of Kyoto and in a quiet street. The decoration is nice and there is a small Japanese garden which is beautiful at night. Big rooms with futons. Unlocking the door was a true challenge. The key does not turn properly. The owner did assist the 1st time and would oil the lock. However it took us a good 5-10min each time to open the door. Note: There is no table to eat at. The description is, however, correct and does not mention this. We were four adults, and there was insufficient sitting space (coach and 1 chair only).
- Robin (9/5): Next to Museum and Temples - Very walkable to many sites such as temples, museums, transportation, and restaurants. Great towels and water pressure. Shampoo very nice here. AC worked great! Very cool to stay in older, traditional home. Tatami had strong smell from heat. Bedding was a bit stained and thin compared to other ryokan-style places we stayed.
- Agnieszka (10/5): If you want to visit Kyoto we highly recommend the villa- best value for money. - Excellent location near to Gion district and main sightseeing points. Convenient access to public transportation, quiet area, villa equipped with everything you need for your stay. Narrow and steep stairs to the bedroom, it was OK for us, but information about this should be included in the description.
- Lola (9/5): Lovely stay here in a great location - Clean, bathroom, garden, bath, location near the circle busses and river was great The kitchen hot plate was very small
- Goh (9/5): It was a good experience - Clean and the environment is nice. A very cosy place. The stairs. It was abit narrow and steep. My son fell down the flights of stairs and sprain his foot.
Other than that we have no issue with the place.
- Pornpimol (7/5): Good -
- Andrew (7/5): Good - The property was much smaller than it appeared on the photos. There was also not enough seats for our family of 5 to sit in the sitting room.
- Wan (9/5): Superb -
- Gabby (10/5): Perfect - Tatami mats and airco. Great shower and bath with a garden in sight. Nothing much.
- Stephen (10/5): Lovely place, great quiet location - The host was super accommodating when we couldn’t travel because of a typhoon - we are very grateful. This is a lovely place in a well connected location but away from hustle and bustle. Highly recommended.
- Cayson (10/5): A must-stay for a truly authentic Kyoto experience - The house is simply amazing. From the moment I first stepped foot inside, I immediately felt at home and connected to the rich heritage of Kyoto. Despite the traditional aesthetic, the house is very comfortable and well-furnished, with all the amenities (and perhaps even more than) I'd have in my own home.
The location is amazing as well. We could walk over to multiple attractions, including the Kiyomizu-dera Temple, which we had really wanted to visit.
The hosts, Candy and Anthony, are also simply some of the nicest people we have ever met. They have lived in Kyoto for a long while, and were helpful and patient in giving us all the tips needed to get the most out of our trip.
Definitely a must-stay for a true Kyoto experience. Nothing! One of the best stays of any country that I've ever experienced!
