Guest Reviews
- Kathryn (10/5): Would definitely recommend and hope to return soon. - All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was beautiful and clean and the food and drinks served in the pub was lovely. Great location for exploring locally and getting a taxi into Bath. Both rooms were beautiful and very well equipped.
- Sofia (10/5): -
- Paul (9/5): Lovely quiet village location. - Lovely rooms across from the pub. We ate breakfast and evenings, decent pub grub. Had a nice circular walk (about 5 miles) through fields and the old canal tow path right behind the pub. All good. We were in room #1, would have loved to have had a shower rather than a bathtub with a shower/tap mixer.
- Paul (10/5): - A wonderful place, relaxing, isolating in the best way. Breakfast was excellent and perfectly fulfilling. The room was very nice, with a great bathroom. We had a magical stay, going to Bath (with a good distance from park and ride option though the road is a bit harsh to drive on) as well as walking around the parks and areas nearby.

- Penny (9/5): - The location was beautiful. The pub itself was a traditional village pub with all the trimmings. The food was very good, especially the breakfast. The actual accommodation wasn't attached to the pub. Ours was in a small 'cottage' across from the pub. There were two rooms in this building, we had no3. I'd requested a walk in shower due to mobility issues and that's what we were given. The room was very nice but compact. The bed was comfy and the pillows were ok. If you're fussy about pillows, bring your own top one. The shower was nice and hot. There is a small lip to step over to get in. The bathroom is compact also but we didn't find that a problem. Everything is nice and clean. There are tea/coffee making facilities, a bottle of water and packets of biscuits 🙂. There is a nice wardrobe with coat hangers and a fan for hot weather.
The TV is great with Freeview. The WiFi in our room was good. We only had the heating on in the bathroom but that warmed the whole room and made it quite hot, so turn it off when you don't need it. We only spent two nights here and we enjoyed it. The staff in the pub were very friendly and helpful. If you like a pub setting then this place is for you, especially if the weather is good and you're celebrating with others. Great parking too. The only downside to this room is its proximity to the car park ( this isn't mentioned in the description! ) Obviously the pub is popular and gets busy at the weekend. When the weather is nice people sit outside and you can hear a lot of laughter etc. People then walk to their cars and stop outside the window to the room and talk etc. I guess if you frequent the pub as well this wouldn't be an issue but other than eating there we didn't. After a busy day in Bath we just wanted to relax and as it was a warm day we had the window open. It was very noisy, nothing bad, just people enjoying themselves. I think this little building could have been better utilised as a single cottage with the entrance at the other end but hey that's just my opinion & didn't spoil our trip 🙂
- Francisca (10/5): Geweldige accomodatie!! - Goede rustige ligging. Heerlijk eten! Vriendelijk personeel. —
- Malcolm Gratton (8/5): - Very quiet location where our accommodation was opposite the bar and eating area. Large bedroom and bathroom clean and comfortable even though mattress on bed much softer than we are used too.Breakfast was excellent and substantial. Bath/ shower in middle of room so difficult to access and get out as an elderly guest.
- Vania (10/5): -
- Leo (10/5): - The staff were most friendly and helpful. The pub restaurant was excellent. We loved the Sunday pizza night when all the other pubs in the area were not serving evening meals. The narrow country roads were challenging.
- Eithne (8/5): Very nice pub accommodation in lovely village. - Lovely room across form pub
Picturesque village-short distance from Bath
Food in pub good -good pizza.
Got bus to Bath-fabulous city-Roman Baths and Abbey both wonderful. Shower was hand help-difficult to use.
Fire not lit in pub on second evening-bit cool.
Pub food menu a bit complicated-too many ingredients.

- E (10/5): Fantastisch verblijf! - Een fijne pub waar je je welkom voelt. Heerlijk eten dat met liefde is klaargemaakt. Een ruime, lichte, schone kamer. Koffie en thee faciliteit op de kamer. Zeer vriendelijk personeel. Een prachtige omgeving. Niets.
- Susanna (9/5): -
- Maurice (8/5): Great location , friendly staff comfortable room and a bath. - Location , space and facilities Could hear the people upstairs as floorboards creeked.

- Jo (10/5): Perfect+ - The location was idyllic and a short drive from Bath. The room was exceptional! The food was amazing and the staff couldn't have been nicer
- Anita (8/5): - De kamer was mooi! Ontbijt was erg duur. 2 aangebrande boterhammen met jam.
- Emily (10/5): Highly recommended country pub stay - The Pub is in a beautiful countryside setting. We stayed in a side building with views over the hills. It is also around a 10 minute drive from Bath. The room was very clean. The Pub was just next door and was very cosy, with a log fire. Not the largest choice of food but we tried the pizza which was very nice. The breakfasts were amazing! All the food was made from scratch. Overall I'd really recommend staying here. Room only had single glazing which wasn't an issue for us but not sure how cold the room would be in the dead of winter.
- Brian (9/5): Great place. We will be returning. - Nice room and great food
- Carmel (9/5): -
- David (9/5): Lovely country pub, fantastic food and clean accommodation. -
- Claudia (8/5): -
- Vickey (10/5): - The room was a lovely size. Felt very cozy, but a very reasonable size. Staff were very helpful.

Everything you need for an overnight stay

- Christine (9/5): Lovely Stay in a Village Inn - The inn had a lovely friendly feel to it and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was very good and good sized portions.
The room we had was a good size and the bathroom was very large! The WiFi in the room was a bit slow at times but it was good in the bar.
The garden had plenty of places to sit in for a drink in the sunshine ( which we had whilst we were there!)
We enjoyed the village where the inn was. Less than an hour in the car to Wells and only a few miles from Bath. We used the park and ride to get to Bath, which was excellent. Dropped off right in the city centre!
Beautiful views around the area. Nothing, it was great.
- Fay (10/5): Perfect place to stay - Super friendly welcome. Great pub atmosphere. Beautiful room. Very cheerful and helpful staff. Nothing
- Pavlina Kyprianidou (9/5): -
- Zulfiia (9/5): - Excellent staff, friendly
- Jason (10/5): -
- Muhammad (8/5): -
- SALLY (8/5): Lovely room with tasty food. - Very clean, lovely room and friendly welcome from the staff. Great evening meal We had an early start and breakfast not served until 8am. We had to leave without breakfast.
- gary (8/5): enjoyable - setting , pub had a nice vibe breakfast started to late so I didn't have any. kitchen ran out of some options for an evening meal the night before.
- Mike (10/5): Quaint gem - It was magical. The pub was lovely and the room was very comfortable and well appointed. It is a little outside of town, but that added to the charm with the countryside surrounding you. We would highly recommend. Nothing
- Tiffany-Lee (9/5): -
- Ann (5/5): -
- Anita (9/5): We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone visiting Bath. - The property was in a perfect location just ten minutes from Bath. Our room was very spacious, clean and tidy. We ate in the pub as we arrived quite late and the food was lovely. The staff were welcoming and very friendly.
- Nicola (10/5): Cosy. Comfy . Tastefully done. - Location was picturesque
- Tone (10/5): -
- Christopher (9/5): -
- laurent (9/5): Belle halte à proximité de Bath - Grande et jolie chambre , grande salle de bain , très proche du pub pour un bon dîner et excellent petit déjeuner
10/15 min de Bath en voiture Lit un peu mou
- Leonardo (8/5): -
- Lee (8/5): Nothing really to dislike! - Our early so no breakfast. Good size room and comfortable. Wi-fi not excellent in the room, better in the tub, but workable. Location is good, very close to the Kennet and Avon and Bath. Staff, location, room, food and an open fire in the fire in the pub. Nothing really to dislike!
- Alison (8/5): Great place, better breakfast please! - Wonderfully located with very friendly staff. Clean room with good facilities. Menus were a little limited, particularly breakfast.
- Melissa (10/5): Fabulous. Will definitely find a reason to return some time soon. - Breakfast was amazing. Would go back there just for this alone! No phone signal for my provider but that’s sometimes not a bad thing!
- Craig (10/5): -
- Jessica (7/5): Lovely family run pub and rooms. - the rooms are well decorated and feel spacious and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was surprisingly big. The staff are lovely and the pub is not noisy - in fact it's great to have there to pop over for a drink or a meal. The location is a small, beautiful, sandstone village surrounded by stunning country side. We were in a ground floor room and the sound proofing up stairs was not great. When the people above walked around we could definitely hear them, especially at night which was annoying as it woke us up. We will return, but will be asking for an upstairs room or bring ear plugs!
- stokes (10/5): - Very comfortable and beautifully food Nothing really, just like everyone else would like to pay less
- Teresa (9/5): -
- Sean (10/5): -
- kernaghan (8/5): -
- Alec (9/5): Will be back!! - Staff went out of their way to help, good parking, food, comfortable room The bath with shower over could have been better organised as the room only had a hand held shower.. pillows could be improved. Menu a little limiting bit if staying more than a couple of days.
- Claire (8/5): -
- Alec (9/5): -
- Ann (8/5): Lovely stay with great staff. Need to check options for getting into Bath. - Lovely food and drink and really friendly and helpful staff Creaky floorboards above room
- Oliver (10/5): -
- Dave (10/5): Relaxing stay - Very relaxing stay, checkout at 12.
Lovely breakfast, 10 minute drive into Bath centre.
Staff very helpful.
Definitely stay again on our next trip to Bath
- Pui Shan (9/5): - A pub restaurant just next to the inn, serving hot plates and good food, good drinks.
Welcoming staff Need to drive to other tourism places
- Jessica (8/5): Great stay outside Bath. - Stayed in a room across the courtyard from the pub. Clean and comfy and well thought out. Plenty of room. Food was really great. Pub had a real fire in the bar. Staff were v friendly. It’s a country location away from the hustle and bustle of Bath. Nothing it was all fine
- Sophie (9/5): Everything you need for a comfortable, convenient stay close to Bath - Great location, really close to Bath city centre but also in a lovely quiet position. Everything you need in the room and rooms are separate from the pub itself so no concerns with noise late at night Nothing!
- Ian (10/5): - Great food , great staff, I will definitely stay again 👍 WiFi didn’t work in the bedroom which was a bit disappointing
- Lewis (9/5): -
- Sue (9/5): Great pub and accommodation, friendly, helpful staff and good food - Location
- Jo (10/5): Don't miss this absolute gem! - Everything ! Room was lovely with huge bathroom- light and bright. Food was simply fantastic and the staff went above and beyond- friendly, helpful and just brilliant. The situation is stunning too .Can't wait to go back. Jo Nothing to complain about other than I wish we could have stayed longer.
- Samantha (9/5): Hidden gem, above and beyond exceeds expectations - Stunning little hidden gem. Staff went above and beyond. Food exceptional. Location close enough but secluded too. Incredible. Would absolutely recommend and cannot wait to go back. The bar shut early on Sunday evening. However we were made aware and went to a shop to source wine separately.
- Martin (9/5): Lovely country inn, Friendly staff. - Lovely location, rooms well kept and clean.
Breakfast was amazing
Evening meal was excellently cooked. Arrived on a Sunday evening, Pub was not open and no food available so had to go a different village pub.
- Brendan (7/5): A good location , great parking , excellent staff & food. Quaint accommodation . Don’t run a tab behind the bar - Enjoyed the location , a very old British village location with narrow roads and steeped in history.
The accommodation was nostalgic. The shower was decent which was first in 3 weeks of travelling.
Excellent off street parking which drew us to the property.
Our room had a view across the valley ,and a rear stairwell to the carpark .
The room was very warm and comfortable in mid January.
It could potentially be noisy with peak tourism season as the accommodation was all timber floorboards etc but it wasn’t the case for us. Unsolicited , the barman offered to run a bar TAB then duly added 10% surcharge to the bill when it came time to pay.
- Frank (10/5): - The stay was just wonderful!!! A wonderful and cozy atmosphere!
- Didier (10/5): A ne pas manquer pour découvrir les Cotswolds - Diner excellent
- Geoffrey (10/5): What a lovely place and atmosphere to welcome in the New Year! - My accommodation was clean, comfortable and had the amenities necessary for a short stay.
The actual pub was warm, cosy and very welcoming. The staff were both friendly and professional and the evening meal on New Year’s Eve , was well cooked, presented and worth every penny. There was absolutely nothing I disliked about the property and my short stay.
- jamie (10/5): -
- Annette (8/5): Staff lovely and helpful - Lovely location, lovely food Internet connection in bedrooms very weak

- Tim (10/5): -
- helen (5/5): There was a beautiful open fire but unlite so it was cold whilst eating our meal, we mentioned this to the guy behind th - The accommodation was lovely. The pub food wasn’t the best, the menu was very limited and the food overall was poor.
- Cavan (8/5): A typical country pub with cheerful staff and great atmosphere. It’s closeness to Bath, around 2 miles away make it a gr - Convenience to Bath Nothing
- Alexander (10/5): -
- Philip (10/5): Xmas market - The location is great for visiting Bath. Food was amazing. Great welcoming staff.
Rooms are beautiful. Nothing
- Lorna (10/5): A great stay to see the Christmas market - Everything was very good. Great food. Room very comfortable lovely big bathroom. Nothing loved it all
- LINDSAY (8/5): Lovely room, nice pub, good location - Cosy and inviting, staff very friendly Evening meals where over fussy, not alot of veggie options.

The service from every single member of staff was amazing. The evening meal was also exceptional There was nothing we did not like. It would have been nicer if the water pressure on the showers was a bit stronger. But I really cannot find fault.
- andrew (9/5): -

We enjoyed cycling along the tow path and relaxing in the pub after a day in bustling Bath. The breakfast was delicious. Staff very friendly.
