Overall Biagio, the owner, provided the awesome service and the most friendly welcome I have seen from any B&B. I highly recommend B&B Il Caravaggio. It is like living in a museum itself and having the best service from a curator. You will not be disappointed for sure. It is a difficult time now with Coronavirus going everywhere. Biagio was very helpful to us and understanding person, and his service to customers is absolutely outstanding.

Biagio, the owner provides outstanding service, that I have not seen anywhere. He will treat you with the best service and advice on what to do. - OLevin45 (8/5): Spring Break Vacation in Catania, Italy - Spring Break Vacation with my father Dmitri and my sister Jane, who studied at Temple Rome in Spring 2020. We met a good friend named Biagio, who treats us like a family and brings a very interesting culture to the house. For those who plan on to stay in the Air BnB for any nights, the stay and experience with breakfast and dinner will last a life time enjoyable experience. For those who are not into drinking any alcohol or smoking, let him know in prior and he’ll do whatever he can to prevent it from disturbing anyone else’s experience. All in all, I enjoyed the experience and it was brilliant as he does the unexpected things people will love him. He brings old-fashion fancy design of the house with lots of history behind it that seems to make lots of people very interested in with a sowing machine on the top of the top drawers with dishes and old fashion music with the disk that is very rarely seen in today’s modern world. I personally enjoyed the experience and I hope everyone else does and brings entertainment to not only those who speak only Italians, but those who can speak in English only and everyone else all over the world who knows how to speak either Italian or English. It was an honor to meet him personally at his Air BnB and let us stay in a very nice place for some time.

Situato alle spalle di corso Italia, equidistante tra il mare e via Etnea. Stile unico di una Sicilia nobiliare, ma soprattutto il gestore Biagio ti fa sentire a casa e ti coccola, preoccupandosi per ogni aspetto dalla colazione, ai giri da fare per Catania. Non ci è stata assegnata la camera prenotata ma una camera molto piccola in un soppalco con bagno privato senza bidet. Di sera ci siamo accorti che la camera era infestata dagli scarafaggi; il condizionatore era con le alette rotte; il box doccia era rotto. Abbiamo abbandonato la struttura in piena notte evidenziando i problemi al titolare che ci ha riprotetto in un altro B&B di catania nel quale ci siamo spostati intorno alle 01:00 di notte Il titolare si è mostrato dispiaciuto e si è attivato per trovare una soluzione per quanto deve porre rimedio a quanto riscontrato per salvaguardare il B&B che si trova in una ottima posizione per visitare Catania.

- CAlmer134 (10/5): Beautiful B&B and a great host! - The B&B Il Caravaggio has a great location, is beautifully decorated and the price is very reasonable. But most outstanding is the host Biagio! On the day of my departure I noticed that my passport was no longer there, but I was still able to leave on the same day, thanks only to Biagio. He called the destinations of the day before and asked for my passport (unfortunately not found), took me with his car to the police, took over all communication with the police and got me another document with a stamp with which I could take my flight. - 725melindaf (10/5): A fabulous experience in Catania - I have returned home from a 10 night stay at B&B Il Caravaggio with my husband and we had the most wonderful time. Biagio is a wonderful host, kind and generous with his time, he treats his guests like members of his family. Anything you need to know he will offer help and advice on the best route, how to get somewhere, what are the best things to see, staying here is like a home from home. Biagio helped us book a trip to Etna along with 4 other guests and when we arrived back he cooked us all a pasta lunch which was very delicious. The accommodation is wonderful with amazing stucco's and wall coverings and has a lot of history, it is well placed for getting around the city and further afield. We managed day trips all along the coast by bus. Thank you for making us so welcome in your home Biagio, when 'Robbie & Jane' next visit Catania we will definitely be back to stay with you.
- nihsel90 (10/5): Diamond of Catania... - I have stayed at B&B Il Caravaggio for 2 nights with my sister which was an absolute pleasure. Biagio is one of a kind, warm hearted gentleman. He looked after us as if we were in our own house. The breakfast was with delicious sweets with coffe and tea prepared by Biagio which was a great way to start our day! He helped us with arranging the Etna tour which was a great experince. His house is also one of a kind, building with 250 years old history, kept super clean and tidy, on a street very close to metro and bus stops. Staying there and exploring beatiful Catania is definitely and strongly recommended! Thank you so much for your warm Sicilian welcome Biagio!! B&B Il Caravaggio will be our destination again whenever we visit Catania.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff is super friendly and helpful! Breakfast is exactly what you'd expect at a cheap B&B--coffee, croissant, fruit. My only complaint would be that the room I booked was a "Double Bed, Street View" and I received a room with two twin beds and no street view. The guy had been so nice to me, that I just let it slide--I really couldn't complain at under $30/night. But 5 stars would be receiving the same service I received and also receiving the room advertised.

- emtee7 (10/5): My fantastic stay at B&B Il Caravaggio - I want to explain that you have to stay here if you want to get to know the life in Catania as a habitant and as a family member and not as a tourist: I don't know where to start because this stay at Catania was the most incredible in my life. I didn't plan anything and just booked this B&B (which is more like visiting your family, it's perfect if you want to get to know the personality of the people in Catania) because of the special look like a throwback to another period of time. Biagio the host welcomed me with some coffee and a cake, i felt like home from the very first second. Respectful and caring. He gave me some advices and said that I can call him whenever and wherever i need help. After my first night we had an excellent breakfast together (also here you will be treated so pleasured). His sister joined us and I showed them my italian singing skills (he made a video of me and shared it with his friends that made me so happy! i was treated like a queen, mille grazie) I had to cry (di gioia ;)) because I never expected being treated like a real part of a family! Also Maria who is working there is such a sweet person, we understood each other without knowing the language. I met a lot of italian people who stayed in this hostel and everyone was so kind. I would recommend to everyone to stay there and get to know the beautiful and warm hearted people. I will return soon! I will miss you, all the best a tutti, baci.

He was showing us around the city and even showing how to make a proper italian carbonara. The appartment was very beautiful and is located in the city, so it was not any problem getting around in Catania. Would definately come again if im going back to Catania.

Everything was super-comfortable, our lovely host prepared a wonderful Sicilian breakfast and helped us wherever he could. Besides - it‘s just a short walk from the station! For those who are searching for an authentic stay with a bit of history and charm - go for it!
- Sophie (10/5): What a place, must be seen! - Biagio is one of the best hosts we have come across in all of our travels around the world. Our time in Catania was hit or miss and we booked Caravaggio last minute, Biagio welcomed us to his B&B and bent over backwards to make us feel at home in the city. Ok, so it's not a conventional B&B that you would get in the UK or other parts of the world but... it does exactly what it says on the tin! A bed and a breakfast! Breakfast was laid out for us to sit and converse with other guests instead to keeping ourselves to ourselves which was a nice touch and if Biagio offers you Iced tea in the morning, HAVE IT! You won't be disappointed... Our room was ornate with grand aspects and perfectly over the top. If we ever feel the need to retry Catania, we would definitely rebook with Biagio!

- ChristineR747 (2/5): Total let down - The owner confirmed our booking and arrival time the day before our scheduled stay at Il Caravaggio, but no one ever turned up to let us in. We waited two and a half hours and took refuge in a nearby cafe after leaving our heavy bags six flights up the stairs! The experience was appalling, as I am asthmatic, and after finding somewhere else to stay, had to hurry back through busy streets with heavy traffic to retrieve our bags before the gates were shut for the night. we found a delightful hotel right near the bus and train station - Hotel Villa Romeo - with lovely staf, good breakfast and lovely internal courtyards. Stay there instea, that's my advice
- lifeistooshortWirral (2/5): Didn't even get through the front door! - Just don't even bother , no one showed up to let us in , waited 2 hours then found alternative accommodation. Probably some authority should shut them down, because you can't actually stay there, and there are 80 steps to the front door. Stay somewhere else .
- Tessa1065 (2/5): Hired rooms in apartment not a Hotel! - This is not a Hotel with European standards and a False Description everywhere. we booked two rooms for 70 Euros each night, and one of the rooms was a Tiny room on top of a kitchen and you need to climb a spiral staircase from the kitchen, boiling hot although they have air condition. The block of building is very old and scary without elevator and no Lights. They party till 1 am in the morning on the roof and they don't let residence sleep during the night, and to add an insult the door rooms are half glass and wood. No security during the night, no Reception during night time and one night not even lights on in the hall way. The suppose shuttle that takes you to the beach which is advertised is not true, also breakfast not even continental and is not good for diabetic people as there is no choose apart from dry breads with jam or chocolate, a croissant and horrible cappuccino. Other wise the rooms are clean and the people are not bad and try to help you, but greedy for money.
- Kristiina83 (2/5): False description everywhere! Horrible place! - We stayed at this B&B for one night and ended up leaving the next day because it was such a great disappointment. The public spaces are horrible - the apartment is full of stuff piled on stuff and even more stuff. No elevator in this old building with high stairs. The staff doesn't speak english. We met one lady and she couldn't say even one word in english. When we arrived to hotel early in the morning the lady working there gave a telephone to my husband. It was the owner calling who was mad because he claimed there was a driver waiting for us at the airport. This was very strange because we didn't book any transport service. We had never even been in contact with this hotel, not via telephone or email or anything so it really was unexpected and very, very rude!!! We didn't even notify them about the time of our arrival! We booked a double room with private bathroom and breakfast. When we arrived we were showed our tiny room (with one double bed and one single bed - even though there were just two of us. the third bed really took up lots of space in the room!!) and the bathroom - across the hall, behind the staircase. I told the lady that we booked a room with a private bathroom and after some sign language (she really didnt understand a word of english) she gave us another room with a bathroom. The room was super tiny, built above the kitched and with a very low ceiling. You could hear absolutely every single noise from the kitchen. The same evening I called the owner and told him that we are extremely unsatisfied and the room is really definitely not what we had booked. He told us he understands and he'll give us a new room in the morning. The next morning we packed our stuff and took the bags to the hall where the lady was. She looked extremely surprised and didn't know why we moved our stuff. The owner wasn't planning to move us to another room, after all! So we call the owner again and after a quite intense conversation we finally came to the hotel. Basically he said that there are private bathrooms for every rooms - they're just not in the room. I called the booking site which I used to make the reservation and discussed the problem with them. They also agreed and that that a private bathroom has to be IN the room, not outside the room. After some more very intense conversation we decided to leave and find another hotel. A bathroom outside the room, across the hall, behind the stairs) is really not for us (too hostel like). When leaving we heard other guests complaining about the same thing. There are no private bathrooms in rooms. They are ALL outside the rooms somewhere further away. We didn't have breakfast because it was horrible. Single packed dry breads with marmalade and that's about it. This B&B is seriously over priced. It should be more like 20€ per night because it's really more like a hostel. Also, there's no staff or anything. I can't believe they have three stars!
