Big Oak Cottages

We loved the cottage, we will always want to stay there if it is available. Perfect location, walking distance from the main road.

The cottage was very cosy, the bathroom was big and spacious and there was plenty of wood for the fire, would definitely book it again and recommend to friends and family

The towels in the bathroom could be bigger.

The location was very quiet and peaceful. The staff was extremely professional and very accommodating. I found the stay very comfortable and looked forward to coming back to the lodge after our day's adventures. The housekeepers were very polite and patient with us. The property was very well maintained and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook our own food. We were given an ample supply of firewood on a daily basis which helped us stay warm. There was also outdoor seating for my fiancé and me to sit and do our work as well as eat. There was easy access to restaurants, in fact, most of them were within walking distance. Most importantly, we did not have any trouble with load shedding as the property has solar so that made a huge impact. They also provided laundry service at a very affordable rate. Lastly, the location is very secure which made us feel very safe.

I did have a lot of trouble with internet usage as it was too slow. I work online doing virtual medical consults for my patients and experienced a lot of trouble with that.

I liked the fireplace and that it was serviced daily. Also, no loadshedding.

The neighbors were very loud.

Spacious, modern, very clean. Checking in and out was a breeze. Will definitely visit again.

Unable to dim or switch off the porch lights. We wanted to braai outside, burn candle for a romantic ambiance, but could not. Otherwise perfect!

Beautiful room. Photos do not do it justice! Great location just off the main street but quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed the fire in the room as well.

I wasn't able to find a hairdryer in the room, but I'm sure if I asked they would have provided one.

I liked the garden, the fire place was great. The bathroom was Amazing!

No real dislikes, just a few points: We stayed in unit 3, patio and garden area was less private than the other units. Parking bay to this units is awkward, especially when leaving. (planting the hedge forward could address both these points) Only having a dining area outside, might be troublesome on cold and windy days/evenings. Perhaps some way to close the patio off, on the BBQ side, would be a plus. Wifi, not the greatest, intermittent and slow.
