"A nice hotel near the beach"

7.0

New furnished rooms and the dryer rack on the balcony. The staff Is nice. We were allowed to use the showers in the sauna zone after we checked out. We received 2 bottles of water for our trip back home.

The kettle in the room is leaking if you put more than 200 ml. We asked to replace it, but the new kettle had the same problem. The staff pretended that they didn't know about this problem. Probably not many people use the kettle and complain. But we used it as I need to take warm water regularly. The reception information notes offer to buy a late check out option but we couldn't receive it. They told us that the hotel was booked out.

We stayed at the Riviera Zen Hotel in Antalya for 5 days, and unfortunately, our experience was far from what we expected or were promised. From the moment we arrived, things felt off. Despite already paying for a room, the staff insisted we pay for an upgrade upon check-in. It felt like a scam from the start. To make matters worse, we arrived late and hungry, and were only offered a piece of bread and a plum. That was considered a “late-night snack” in their all-inclusive package — we were starving. Speaking of scams, beware of a tour operator named Yusuf and his colleagues. We were scammed by them and would strongly advise future guests to avoid booking anything through the hotel or its associated contacts. The hotel staff, particularly the man running the hammam/spa, was relentless. He asked us every single day, multiple times a day, if we wanted a treatment — despite our clear and repeated “no.” It felt invasive and pushy. I had to eventually explain to him that it is always going to be a no as I cannot participate in any spa activities and to stop asking me. Now let’s talk about the food. In a word: atrocious. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all equally bland and tasteless. We ended up eating out for most of the trip despite paying for all-inclusive. And it’s not really all-inclusive — orange juice cost us 100 TL, and cocktails or mocktails were not included. My husband was literally chased down for payment after grabbing a drink we assumed was part of the package. Every time we picked something up, we had to ask, “Is this included?” It completely defeats the purpose of a relaxing vacation. The entertainment was non-existent. One belly dancer performed for about 10 minutes on a Saturday night. That was it. The pool was always overcrowded, and the layout of the hotel was poorly thought out and uncomfortable to navigate. The only positive thing I can say about this hotel is its location — it’s close to shops and a variety of outside restaurants (which you’ll need, because you won’t want to eat at the hotel). Also, be warned: despite what you might think, this hotel is a full 2-hour drive from Antalya Airport, not a quick trip at all. Based on this experience, I will not be returning to Turkey, and I certainly won’t be recommending Riviera Zen Hotel to anyone. If you’re reading this — do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.

"AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

2.0

Still here and it’s my last night here. I was expecting this hotel to be really good but was extremely disappointed. I booked a type of room that I only could book at the time online. When I arrived at the hotel I was offered dry bread and a plum (yummy yeah right) as their kitchen finished at 20:30. I was so baffled when I checked in. The gentlemen on the desk mentioned that they could offer me a sea view room on the 5th floor (top) for free on the first night but will have to change to the 1st floor which the rooms have inadequate lighting as the view is opposite a brick wall. If I don’t want to pay extra. This is a no brainer tactic for us to pay more money. I ended up paying for the sea view room due to having better lighting and my wife being pregnant as well. On the 1st floor was too close to the smoking area. Now the food!!!! Definitely not catered for the Brits and it lacked variety of choices. The taste was disgusting. I paid for all inclusive for it to turn out to be not all inclusive. To have fresh squeezed orange juice you have to pay which I was unaware of. Staff : To be blunt they’re miserable and I don’t want to see them again. Every time I walked past the Spa man in the hotel he kept hassling me for a Turkish Spa when I told him so many times NO! NO! NO! **IMPORTANT MESSAGE BELOW** The Holiday assistant Excursion who go by the name Turkey Guide Service which will appear on your bank statement as SunLove Tour will mislead you with cost and information. His name is Yusuf the man who scammed us. Please avoid that company and him at all cost. By the way the WIFI will forever kick you out.

"Wouldn't stay again and wouldn't recommend"

4.0

Was really excited and looking forward to my holiday at riviera zen based on these reviews only to be left very disappointed. I never write reviews but don't want others to be led into the same trap as we were ! On arrival to the hotel at 3am we checked in at the desk, the staff member gave me our room key and said they would ' discuss upgrades tomorrow' and pointed at a board on the reception which explains upgrades ( 30 euro a night for sea view etc etc.). We got to our room which did have a nice view so we were happy. The next day we were sat round the pool at 2pm and a staff member approached me and my partner and asked us if we wanted to keep our room? And if we did we needed to pay at the desk. We were confused by this and asked to speak to the manager. The staff were quite stand offish regarding this situation and I felt quite intimidated, stating our room wasn't ready when we got there however we said this isn't our fault and we now have to pack everything back up to then take to another room. This completely put a downer on our first day. Seems like they do this to most guests to try get more money out of them for ' upgraded room' it's just completely unfair. The all inclusive buffet is very repetitive, breakfast was awful with not much option. We ate out quite a lot. You have to pay extra for orange juice and the all inclusive alcohol is very limited, cocktails are not included which was a massive let down. We felt the all inclusive was not worth it at all. There are not enough sun loungers to guests so getting a sun lounger if you're up past 9am is impossible, we had to set an alarm for 7am to put towels down and even then we didn't always get a good spot. It's a very cramped pool area with the same repetitive music all day. They must put a playlist of 7 songs on repeat all day, it got very annoying! Limited entertainment at the hotel This is not 4 star in my opinion and I expected a lot more for the price we paid. The only positives were the cleanliness of the hotel, it was clean and bed changed daily. The location is good, near the beach and restaurants to escape the all inclusive. This hotel is extremely basic and I wouldn't stay again.

"A Disappointing Stay at the not so all-inclusive Riviera Zen Hotel"

2.0

A Disappointing Stay at The Riviera Zen Hotel Our recent all-inclusive package holiday to The Riviera Zen Hotel in Alanya, Turkey, booked through Thomas Cook, was unfortunately a deeply frustrating and disappointing experience from start to finish. The issues began immediately upon arrival. The airport transfer was an astonishingly long three hours. This extended journey included an unwelcome stop at a row of shops where we, as first-time visitors, were clearly taken advantage of, being charged the equivalent of £15 for a single ice cream cone! The return transfer was even worse, clocking in at four hours, with the driver attempting the same exploitative shop stop, thankfully unsuccessful this time. Upon finally reaching the hotel in the early hours, exhaustion led us to promptly fall asleep. We awoke to what we initially thought was still darkness, only to discover it was well into the afternoon. This disorientation was due to our room's severe lack of natural light – the balcony faced directly onto a wall of another hotel. To get a room with adequate light, we were forced to upgrade for an additional £20 per night. With no Thomas Cook representative on-site and unable to reach them, and my partner understandably distressed, we felt we had no option but to pay, adding significant unexpected costs to our holiday. What followed was a series of frustrations. Our "all-inclusive" package proved to be anything but. Many types of alcohol were excluded, and even basic beverages like orange juice incurred extra charges. By the end of our stay, these hidden costs far exceeded the initial price of our package deal, leaving us feeling thoroughly scammed. The hotel also appeared to cater predominantly to German guests, making us feel like second-class citizens. Securing a sunbed was a daily battle, with towels placed before dawn by other guests, a practice the hotel seemed to condone. Even the television channels were exclusively in German, with no English options available. While the staff were generally polite, it felt as though their hands were tied regarding these issues. During a recent heatwave, the hotel pool was almost unusable due to overcrowding, primarily with German and Dutch guests. Venturing to the beach offered little respite, as we were charged for everything, including non-alcoholic drinks, by the hotel. On a positive note, the food was consistently good and adequately seasoned. However, this was one of the very few highlights in what was otherwise a holiday we couldn't wait to end. We left Turkey with no desire to return, feeling utterly exhausted and convinced that this entire experience was a well-orchestrated scam.

"Will not return "

4.0

Arrived with friends at 9pm on a Sunday evening only to be informed our rooms were not ready. We were given a room overlooking the pool and if, the next day we wanted to stay in it we could pay €25 per night! When chatting to other English travellers all were offered to upgrade on arrival. After booking a year ago our room should've been ready! Our balcony view overlooked a wall and the rest area for the neighbouring hotel. We had to put towels over the balcony to get Privacy as at one point about 11 staff there chatting/smoking. (Room 105) The rooms are nicely decorated, plenty of hanging space and great shower. Hairdryer provided, just wish Hotels wouldn't put them in bathroom as gets too hot! Need to be in the room where the air con is. Breakfast very disappointing, no decent cereal. Food in general was very bland/samey/cold. Spaghetti bolognese every night. A microwave would be good to warm food and a decent toaster! The timings of restaurant very limited, evening meal finished at 8.30 (2 hours) breakfast 10.30 (3 hours) and lunch 2pm (1.5 hours) The drinks on the all inclusive were very limited, vodka, gin, raki, local wine & beer! Everything else had to be paid for. The pool bar closed promptly at 11pm & staff refused a drink at 10.50 one evening as we had 4 (almost empty) glasses on our table. Very limited entertainment and the music played was on a repetitive loop! The sunbeds round the pool were too close together & pool very crowded with inflatables. Tiles very slippy when wet. Did enjoy the spa, although sauna area was unavailable. Hotel very clean although not sure reception area floor needs buffing at 10pm at night when people relaxing on comfy sofas! Overall very disappointing and will not be travelling to this part of Alanya again as also too far from airport.

"Such a shame, I thought it would ne better"

6.0

So we arrived 21:00 on a sunday evening to be told our rooms were not available but they will upgrade free of charge for the first night and then it would ex amount per night after that, well we had booked a year ago so not sure why room was not ready, any way we never accepted the upgrade. Be prepared as this happens to most people when speaking to others. Next day we were given our rooms that we had paid for, all rooms are the same inside except the cleopatra suite but it is down to the view for the upgrade. Me personally doesn't bother me as I only use the room to sleep in and it was too hot to sit on the balcony as it was like an oven, also where our room was above the restaurant so could hear staff early in the morning. Rooms are nicely decorated and have kettle, fridge and hairdryer. Air con was the best thing though. Pool is pretty small and should not allow inflatables or ball games and area does become quite slippery. Sunbeds are too close together and you feel like your on top of everyone. Also uncomfortable, so mattress on them would be better. Be prepared to get up early to get a sunbed if you want a good spot. Food is pretty boring and cold and samey. Better choice of cereals for breakfast and a toaster you don't need to put the bread through 3 times to get any colour. Microwave to heat food up is needed. Timings for meal times need to be adjusted, dinner stops at 8.30 sharp and the staff cannot wait until it is aswell, with all taken away quickly. Drinks choice is bad for all inc, vodka, gin, raki and wine, bar also stops dead on 11pm! Cannot fault the cleanliness of the hotel though but being 2hours away transfer time will not be coming back to Alanya.
