very quiet place, inside of a condo a little bit far from central park, its a 15 min walk but worth it if you want to rest peacefully

If you are looking for something off the beaten path, but not too far, this is the place for you. This charming hotel is located in a quiet residential annex adjacent to the historical downtown of Antigua Guatemala, about a 15 min walk to Parque Central. I am told it is a fairly recent addition but built in a meticulously recreated colonial style. The rooms occupy two floors surrounding a courtyard with a water fountain, and as far as I was able to peek, each is different. The place was spotless and the staff super friendly. There are not too many restaurants in the immediate vicinity but there is a decent choice of food delivery which worked just fine. Breakfast (traditional Guatemalan), however, is included and you can enjoy it on a terrace while watching Volcán de Fuego puff smoke straight from your table. The hotel is enclosed in a walled-off complex and it is not easy to see from the street, so to find it, you look for Residenciales Doña Beatriz, which is the sign next to the gate where you ring for the doorman who will let you in. You can park safely inside right in front of the hotel. My biggest surprise was that while staying there in December, the start of the tourist high season, for a few days we were the only guests there–while being spoiled by the staff trying to satisfy our every whim. So, I would gladly recommend La Casona de Antigua. On second thought, though, please don’t go there. When we come back, we want to have this little gem all to ourselves again!
