The Castle House

We had a great night at the castle house , our room was spotless, comfortable and quite with a good selection of teas and coffee also with some lovely housecoats to wear, we ordered breakfast for 8am and it was ready for us coming down and it was really nice , staff were very nice and helpful. Would stay again .

The location was great, right next to the castle. The breakfast was excellent. A bottle of water, lots of different teas, coffees, milk and biscuits were supplied in the room.

The room and the bathroom were tired, the toilet seat was loose and the room needs redecorating overall. Loose light switch to the bathroom and dangerously hot water from the bath/shower mixer tap (my partner scalded her arm when turning the shower off). The space for the bed is too small for a double bed, hardly any room either side to get into the bed.

Unfortunately, we had to find alternative accommodation after the first night. Despite the fact that I advised the owner (twice), that we would be arriving at 5:30pm on the 23rd January, there was nobody to let us in, help us with our luggage and show us to our rooms, My mother who is 85 had to stand in the cold and rain for 10 minutes before we finally got in. As per the description for Castle House, we were meant to be greeted by the owner with a complimentary drink - no sign of that !! No warm fire either. Our bedrooms were cold. My mothers towels were threadbare. My bedroom was not refreshed the second morning. Bed unmade and the sink was left filthy. Breakfast was mediocre. I'm sorry, I would not recommend.

The location was good with lovely views from our window. The room was cosy and we both slept well. Both enjoyed the beautiful roll top bath. Breakfast was very nice and Nigel is a very helpful and friendly host.

The room was a little smaller than we were expecting, though did have a seperate dressing room, also we had a little trouble using the WiFi. Bathrobes could've been a little thicker/softer.

The owner was very kind and helpful… best we’ve ever had!

Excellent location. Delicious breakfast.

Was in the middleham room. Would have preferred a shower, but there was a shower over the bath.

The bath in our room was cracked and chipped with sharp edges so didn't want to use it
