The view and location and breakfast! Helpful lively staff and beautiful gardening. The gardener was working on the garden and he stopped instantly to take my mother’s bag up the hill.

OK, strap in for a complete review of this property. We'll rank the hotel on a scale of 1-10 based on the following: Location, Accommodations, Amenities, and Food. Location: This place gets a 10. It's literally right on the beach next to an amazing surf break. The majority of the rooms have a great view of the ocean. We stayed in Room 22 (check out the pics). We had an amazing private deck and woke up each morning to surfers catching waves. Amazing. If you're a surfer, I've gotta believe this is an ideal location. We're not surfers, but we're introducing our two young boys to surf culture. Hopefully it'll take and they'll have a life-long love of the ocean and Pura Vida lifestyle Accommodations: 8. The rooms are very comfortable and our room had amazing reviews. Bed, Shower, TV, etc. all worked fine. Not luxurious by any means, but... this place mainly caters to surfers. Does the room really matter? Amenities: 6. There's an OK pool, a ping-pong table, and they'll do laundry for you. Meh. Food: 5. No bueno. You get a "free' breakfast for two each day. Did I say no bueno already? "Surfer's Breakfast" was eggs, veggies, and chips. Chips looked like plain dorritos. Enough said. Family Score: 7.25 Adjustment for a Surfer: 8 One thing to note - this place is walking distance along the beach to El Trunco. So plenty of bars and food options. Again, if your're a surfer, this place is awesome. If you're a family or a wanna be surfer, not so much. Check out our other El Salvador beach reviews for better options.

People, pool area, room and facility were clean. It is right there on the beach. Food is good at the restaurant. My room had a balcony with an ocean view. From the beach you can see sunset and sunrise. It is secure. Recommend specially if you want to relax or you like surfing.

We spent a week at Casa De Mar and our stay was excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a hotel close to the beach with a pool and dining options all on site, and food is excellent! If you choose to stay on the site, you never have to leave, but El Tunco is just a short 5 min walk. The hotel is impeccably maintained, hotel staff extremely friendly & helpful, always busy cleaning & making sure the grounds are maintained. They have two outdoor showers as you exit the beach to clean off sand. Will definitely come back next year!
