I am genuinely surprised that Soho Boutique Opera is classified as a four-star hotel. The room was acceptable, but the bathroom was extremely small. The shower was so cramped that it was difficult to move comfortably while showering. The room overlooked a dirty courtyard and street-level garbage collection area, so opening the windows meant looking at rubbish and dealing with unpleasant smells. The breakfast was disappointing—dry, tasteless, and lacking quality and variety. What was most frustrating was the lack of service. There was no visible concierge service, no bellboy assistance, and very limited guest support. The reception was usually staffed by a single person who was polite but not particularly helpful when issues arose. The biggest disappointment came when I had another upcoming reservation at the same hotel. I was travelling to another city for two nights and simply requested that my luggage be stored until my return. Despite having a future booking with the hotel, my request was refused. We then contacted Booking.com for assistance, but their representatives were equally unhelpful. The suggestion we received was essentially to rent a room in Madrid just to store our luggage, which I found completely unreasonable and far removed from any standard of customer care. Both the hotel and Booking.com showed little interest in finding a practical solution. Instead of helping a returning guest, they created unnecessary inconvenience and frustration. The location is good, but unfortunately that was the only real highlight of the stay. Based on my experience, the hotel falls well below what I would expect from a four-star property, particularly in terms of hospitality, guest care, and problem resolution.
