Canaya Boutique Villa

This hotel is a big con / rip off. THERE IS NO ROAD TO THIS PROPERTY. Must cross the jungle for 1/2 kilometers Don’t pick unless u have a Motorcross bike. Once I was there I can not find transportation out there go anywhere. Hotel care taker said he will drive me with hotel tuk tuk but he is rarely available. I picked the more expensive room out of the two options, but when I checked in I was given room with no AC, they said AC room will b available the night after. The day after when I was ready to move they said they have to check with reservations, finally reluctantly gave me the AC room. I booked 15 days in this hotel but moved out after 10 nights. The reason was they rented out the lobby for 20 people disco party that was very loud. After 11 pm when I complained they said they were going to stop in 15 minutes but in really confrontational manner like I am a troublemaker. When I decided to leave the care taker rounded up some men to prevent the driver to come in to help me w my luggage. I didn’t see the reason why I couldn’t leave since I already paid in full my 15 day stay, it’s up me if I didn’t want to use the remaining 5 days. When I had my luggage loaded to the vehicle the caretaker stop is from leaving because I had to pay the “upgrade” for 10 days in AC room. THE UPGRADE WAS ADDITIONAL 50% OF INITIAL RATE. This hotel is a scam, total rip off run by criminals. Really gives a stain to Sri Lanka tourism. NO hot water, filthy pool, STINKY BLANKET NO ROAD

Вилла находится вдали от центральной дороге, гугл карты показывают верный маршрут. Рядом с виллой видели варанов, а утром перед номером гулял павлин! В номере чисто и уютно, останавливались на 1 ночь, все было отлично, по приезду сразу угостили чаем. Рекомендую!

Down a long dirt track from the main road. The one staff member there did not know I was coming. Two phone calls to the absent manager occurred. Room fridge an ant nest. Could not connect to the wifi. The only staff member there could not get me a tuk tuk to leave. Dragged my suitcase the 250 metres up to the main road along the dirt track to get a ride to another hotel.

Who wouldn't want to stay in a hotel with its own peacocks! This place was lovely, and generally very well maintained, tucked away down the road from a larger resort. The main issues we had were getting to the place (missed the turn off a few times), but that's not their fault, and they did provide a sign further down the track pointing the way. The timing of breakfast, which was once too early, and twice too late. In general, though, I think the food was some of the best we had in our two weeks in Sri-Lanka. The only other minor issue was the private garden area accessible from our room had tools in and was generally not well kept up.

Stayed for one night on a stop at Galle while going across the south coast. The hotel is a bit far from the town centre, either a half hour walk or a quick tuk tuk ride. Trying to find it on foot after dark is fun, you have to walk up a dark lane that feels like going into the jungle and there aren’t many signs. But this makes it feel almost as if you are in the jungle rather than the edge of a town. The room was big, nicely minimal and clean. There was no hot water and WiFi was slow. But staff were very nice and made us a big breakfast.

Villa Canada is a beautiful resting place surrounded by nature and just 350 lkr tuk tuk to Galle Forte. It's modern and new with spotlessly clean spacious rooms. It's very quiet and you will see a peacock and monkeys and chipmunks running around. The owner is very helpful and friendly, his worker also does his very best to make sure you are comfortable. He will order tuk-tuk for you. To be out of the hustle and bustle of the city this is a haven. As a solo female I can recommend Villa Canaya for safety and comfort. They only have cold water, but as it is so hot it did not worry me, great Wi-Fi, fast and efficient. Breakfast is fruit, egg and toast, Sri Lankan sweet cake, hoppers, coffee or tea, eat while listening to all the birds and enjoy.
