Pension Iriomote

spacious rooms. great location, easy to get to from the port on the bus. next to the nicest beach on the island for sunsets. the provided breakfasts were delicious and filling! The owner is incredibly helpful, organised dinner reservations and even drove me to and back from one of them - it is dangerous to walk the road between the pension and many of the restaurants at night therefore may be worth hiring a car/scooter if you plan to have meals further away. I was even driven to the ferry terminal after I checked out. The bicycle hire is very helpful and they're pretty sturdy bikes, I cycled to and from the Shirahama port with ease.

not an issue of the property but because of the climate there are mosquitos while eating breakfast so I would recommend bringing a form of bug repellent.

It’s beautifully maintained, with everything you need, and the owners are so wonderful and sweet. We felt so comfortable. Thank you so much!

The most beautiful property run by a lovely man. Photos didn’t do the place justice, it was so cute! Breakfast was amazing and there were little turtles that came out at night too :)

The garden and nearby beach were beautiful.

The location is a 4 minute walk to the beach and there are a couple great restaurants within a short walk too. The owner was a great help to navigate reservations for activities and food. The home cooked breakfast every morning sets the tone for the day. Pension Iromote really offers a peaceful and quiet heaven away from the bitten path.

Nice older pension with 3 common areas - tv room, dining room, and beautiful outside yard with picnic table. Owner was very helpful: made a tasty breakfast, arranged a kayak tour, booked dinner reservations, and even drove us to/from the restaurants. The best part though was the amazing beach a short walk away.

Buses didn't run often so would be best to rent a vehicle if possible.

The Owner was super friendly.. he was not able to speak English so well, but we the used the Ipad with google Translate and that solved the most problems :) He also drove me once to Dinner and picked me up as well! I even got the airport drop off service..!:) I very loved the most that it was so close to the beach! the beach was very lovely

The towel was very small? A towel that I can wrap around my torso would have been great. but instead I got a towel the size XS? The rooms were a bit dark, but still very clean... Last but not least, they were kind of cringy with water? it was very hot and I always needed to actively ask fot water..

Place is very nice and atmospheric, jungle is in you yard, bird’s and crickets sound, flowers are everywhere, beach is 5 min walk.Very very hospitable and friendly owner of the place , would help with reservations for diner, tours and etc. He also drove me to the fairy afterwards. Delicious and nice breakfast was served at 8 am. Room was clean, however it is not 5 star hotel, so don’t expect much.

Be prepared that supermarkets are rare on the island, and you will be far from town, however couple nice and not expensive restaurants are 200m to the hotel, bus station is close. And after sunset you can’t go for walking since there is rare lights in the road. Also you almost live in a jungle ( nature ), so bugs and lizards could be met, in case you are afraid probably it is better to stay in Ishigaky island.

The location is great: very close to the beach. The inner garden is really nice and if you are lucky you can see some animals by night. The breakfast is delicious and well presented :D The owner can give you lots of advice of the area (if you speak Japanese), things to do and can drive you to some restaurants he recommends.

Probably because it is a pension style, equipments (such as washing machine, cooking area, etc.) are limited.
