Villa White

Villa White 16th 17th April This was a nice guest house that provided a warm welcome with cakes and fruit juice on arrival. It has a small pool that was very welcoming in the summer climes. We chose a family room which had two large double beds a private bathroom as well as a desk and two chairs. We were pleased with the fridge which in our experience isn’t common in Sri Lanka but great to keep the water cool. This was a great base to walk to turtle Beach and swim with the turtles as well as walking Hikkaduwa Beach too. Our breakfast consisted of egg toasted bread, freshly squeezed juice and fresh fruit, a great meal to start the day.

It was well maintained and managed whereas the owner was very welcoming and facilitating. They maintain a good roadside restaurant as well. Staying with family in cozy environment, must go to Villa White.

The hosts was amazing and really welcoming. The location is close to Beach and it is possible to order food, coffee etc. from the apartment, so that was very convenient.

The pool could use a deep cleaning.

The location was pretty close to the main road for activities. Bed was large and comfortable. Hot water was available. Breakfast was good and the hosts were friendly.

The room was very small with little room to relax in. It was very dark and kind of felt like a basement. The AC was extremely loud so no chance to sleep without ear protection. The entire house badly needs renovation. There was moldy smell in the room - water damage near the roof areas with some paper tape to patch up leaks. Most of the room had layers of dirt in corners and i don't think the room has been actually cleaned in years. The fan on top of the bed was brown from dirt and dust that has not been cleaned in years. There were ants everywhere, on walls, our shelves in the bathroom and on toothbrushes, later found ants in our suitcases. We had a visit from a massive 3cm+ cockroach. The pool water felt dirty and was cloudy. The water had a slippery feel like it had not been changed in a long time, only more chlorine and other chemicals added. Did not want to use it because i felt dirty when in the pool and after coming out.

The lady preparing the breakfast was really nice. The room was clean and the bed fine.

It is a little far from places to get food and the food you can order from them is not that great. The pool is a little dirty. It was sometimes difficult to find somebody who was working there if you needed help. They closed the pool one of the two whole days we were there due to a privat event, not so nice when you picked the place because of the pool. I would stay another place next time going to Hikkaduwa

We loved our stay at villa white. It's a very welcoming and homely place equipped with everything needed. Beautiful surroundings, big and clean pool, lovely breakfast. The hosts are very helpful too. If you want an amazing place just a little further away from the hustle and bustle of the town look no further.

Nothing, everything was great

Comfortable beds, cot provided (thank you) comfortable shared lounge area which we were lucky enough to have to ourselves, clean and beautiful pool, daily breakfast was good. Breakfast was meant to start at 8 but due to our little ones waking early, the host would bring breakfast to us early (thank you).

The bathroom would flood when showering, but not uncommon for Asia. We stayed 4 nights & on the third day had to ask for new bin liners, toilet paper, clean towels and bed linen (we are travelling with our 3 and 1 yr old). Not a major issue but some proactive housekeeping would have been great (we’ve been travelling Asia for nearly 5 months and most home stays provide the above). Overlap still a very good stay.

I stayed here with my family and we were completely blown away by the hospitality and friendliness of the hosts. The breakfast was always above and beyond our expectations, with an array of traditional Sri Lankan treats. The rooms were spacious and the swimming pool was wonderful. It was great staying at this villa, surrounded by nature and wildlife, whilst also being so close to the beaches too! Definitely recommend this villa to all who come to Hikkaduwa!
