The Rose Cottage Inn

The breakfast was very good and excellent value for money. The location was very good: peaceful, great for walking, views across countryside etc.

We liked this Inn the first time we stayed there in May that we decided to book again. Stayed in a different room but was equally happy with the space as the first time. Would highly recommend. Dave and Val are great hosts.

Breakfast was fabulous, a great selection to choose from. Really friendly, helpful hosts, even drove me to the top of the hill to save me a couple of miles of walking. Accommodation is lovely and quiet in a peaceful hamlet with open space and great sunset.

Quiet location close to areas of interest. On-site parking.

No communal seating area, either indoors or undercover outdoors.

The hosts were exceptional. Faced with a complete loss of water supply due to a burst water main, they (cheerfully) did everything they could to make us comfortable, supplying plenty of bottled water, as well as rainwater for toilet flushing. The room was very comfortable and well supplied with tea, coffee, etc and the bathroom was a comfortable size with modern and well maintained fittings. Although we didn’t use them, the provision of a microwave and plates in addition to the kettle is very thoughtful in case visitors don’t want to drive to get an evening meal. Ideal for our purpose; attending a local wedding and we would stay there again.

This may be booking.com’s issue - on their website, although the postcode was correct, the address was given as Selmeston rather than Alciston, which led up to head to the wrong village initially. There was nothing we could fault about the accommodation or the hospitality and we would book again if in the area.

Lovely setting and views. Great hospitality. Even though there was no running water because of a burst pipe in the area, they were helpful and kind. Would 100% stay there again.

Well appointed loft with all kitchen needs. Comfortable bed and updated bathroom. Hosts were very helpful Situated on a quiet country street with relaxing views of fields. Close to a pub and service station/grocery mart. Highly recommend.
