Mollett's Farm

Lovely welcome by the host, who was keen to provide as much information as possible. Everything was clean and the basics provided in the accommodation were appreciated. It was lovely to have outdoor space and table and chairs. Don't forget to look at the additional information in the laundry room, I was able to borrow a map of the area and also wash my clothes.

As the room is a studio, there is not much extra space, however, this is made clear in the details and I was travelling alone. The property requests you to take the bed clothes off the bed and take the rubbish/ recycling out before you leave.

The location was peaceful and had a lovely family feel. The studio was well equipped and clean. The bed and pillows were comfortable.

It was welcoming and comfortable and incredibly peaceful. Wheelchair access was easy- there was space under the bed for a hoist/standing aid, grab rails in the wet room (which stayed remarkably dry!), a drop down shower seat and a freestanding seat also available in case it was better. The host was friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

I have not had to put my own rubbish out in a property before, although I get the impression if this had been too difficult for whatever reason, I could have just asked and it would have been fine to leave it.

Location was close to where we wanted to be and access off the A12 is clearly marked and lit.

We were awakened every day between 4am and 5am by a rooster that was crowing repeatedly. While we understand there is "farm" in the name, the daily wake-up call should have been prominently disclosed. On the day we left, the rooster was literary on our doorstep. On check-in, we found a lengthy instruction sheet awaiting us in regards to check out, including stripping the beds, emptying the garbage, and more. Not your typical stay. If we are to do part of the house cleaning this too should be disclosed clearly in advance. Water pressure very low.

Self contained and quiet, comfortable, spacious. (We were in a room designed for maximum accessibility, so low level facilities in shower/wet room). Welcome from host who spotted our arrival. Well off busy road A12. A little private outside area so possible to eat and drink outside. Bird life attracted by feeders in communal courtyard area and swifts encouraged to nest so lovely to watch that. Host encouraged feedback.

As the kitchen facilities and sleeping area were all in same room (though kitchen in a recessed area) there was a bit of noise from the fridge overnight. I use earplugs when away, so that was ok, my husband wasn't too bothered by it. Having said this, kitchen facilities were very good, table was one you extended in the sleeping area so needed to be put up only when eating. . Personally I wouldn't have cooked a meal on the hob because I wouldn't want to sleep with smells of food after- but that's just our preference. Fine for making breakfast and other simple meals and plenty of appliciances for food prep.

Location - easy to find. Clean and tidy on arrival. Key was in the door so easy to access.

Our overall impression on arrival was that that the cottage was fair but the description of it being luxury is very misleading, it was well equipped but the furniture was mostly mdf, and standard. Sasha took time to explain the property especially the velux window and that it is a 'hole in the roof!' She stressed this point very strongly which came across as a bit patronising and as though were like children. We also felt this slightly ironic as the 'hole in the roof' had to be propped open as it didn't remain open as it should have. For the amount we were paying (in comparison to the single story units), we were surprised that there was no private space to eat outside. There were however two picnic tables but they were in poor condition, peeling in paint/varnish and also covered in bird poo. We decided to sit on communal benches instead which had no table to eat at and were not private. I would therefore recommend booking a single story unit which has a front and a back door, and a private outdoor seating area, and much cheaper! On the first morning we had a power cut which we reported to Sasha. We returned that evening and went straight upstairs to have a shower which resulted in water pouring through an exposed light socket, which we assumed had been safely removed earlier. We were really surprised next morning when Sasha knocked on our door (to ask about a car alarm) that she didn't mention the leak, or appear to show any concern about the water dripping through a light socket. Although we were strongly encouraged on arrival to ask for 'anything' and 'not wait until we got home to give feedback' we didn't feel this was reciprocated with shower episode in terms of good communication from Sasha (no reply form message), and also with no response to the 2 written requests to check out slightly later (also no replies!).
