Lovely apartment, very close to beach

Rethymno old town a little far to walk, takes over 35 minutes so we used taxis a few times.

Communication with the Hotel was excellent. Anything we were unsure about, we just had to ask and we were always helped. From the moment we arrived (flight delay so late at night) Reception communicated with us regarding where our room key was and put water in the fridge. The whole hotel was immaculately clean, as were the outside areas including the pool. Our room was cleaned every second day, with delightful touches such as towels being displayed in different ways. The pool had excellent access including shallow steps for anyone with mobility problems. Very good location and plenty of information regarding day trips, restaurants etc. All the restaurants were lovely - look at our 'Catch of the Day meal! Everywhere felt extremely safe. The staff were all delightful and very trusting. If we wanted a taxi, one was called and we were always asked about our enjoyment of the day. The apartment was fully equipped, very charming with a large balcony overlooking the pool and a sea view. We ate out or self-catered, but did occasionally have breakfast in the Hotel: there was a vast choice of traditional Cretan food; fruit; delicious cinnamon pastries; healthy options and a fridge with water, soft drinks and beers. A wonderful 2 weeks and if we were allowed we would award it 11.

We couldn't fault the Melitti Hotel.
