Areca Bungalow

I have been to Phong Nha three times. The second time I came I stayed at Areca Bungalow. It was so nice. I decided to stay there again the third time also, despite many other options. The very high ceilings give a good feeling of openness and spaciousness. If you can get one of the two bungalows that face the river, it is a beautiful morning to wake up on the bed looking at the river. The cooking is fantastic and good prices. One night, after I returned from a multi-day cave tour, they were fully booked. I still went there for dinner.

The only suggestion I have is: more tables with protection from rain. I only remember two tables if it is raining.

Excellent location to enjoy Phong Nha caves. Very friendly hosts serving good food and great accommodations for the area. Be sure to take advantage of the properties bicycles to enjoy the local village.

Nice home stay on the riverside and there are free kayaks for you to use. The rooms are big and clean. You can book tours or rent motorbikes from there as well. Breakfast is ok. Overall a nice stay

Breakfast is good. More options in breakfast can be added. Location is also good. Staff & owner was very helpful and tried to resolve all our needs. But it was difficult to communicate with staff as they did not know English language although owner did well to cover and take initiative on her own.

In our washroom while taking the shower the water had no exit pot, so the water was flowing throughout the floor and the floor remained wet.

Everything, this is a small piece of romantic paradise. Staff have struggles communicating with you in English but soon as you speak they call someone who is good at English and you can converse that way. We had no issues here at all and the staff are attentive, kind and happy to help! Beautiful place and good value for money. River views and they offer trips to the caves through them.

This was a beautiful, quaint little place just outside the main part of town, yet easily walking or biking distance. There was a beautiful view from the patio to watch the sunset over the mountain and right on the river. The bungalows were cute, adequate space, comfy beds, hot shower. We arrived late in the evening, but they were able to arrange comfortable private transport from the airport, and then serve us dinner. The included breakfast was delicious. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Phong Nha was a mid-point in our trip and they were able to wash and dry our laundry. Yen also arranged a motorbike for us to use one day (when the key fell out somewhere on our ride, she was able to get a new one to us - we found the key on the road on the way back though!). Bicycles were provided so we could ride through town. They also arranged our departure bus ahead of time and drove us to the bus stop at 6:45am, grabbing us fresh baked bread for breakfast on the way. The price is very reasonable, for a private, quiet place on the river - and once again - the staff is exceptional. Great respite from the craziness of the bigger cities.

Everything was great, but just a small nit is that the toilet seat was the wrong size and kept slipping sideways and the toilet paper holder was broken. No big deal though.

Great view

Lovely view of the mountains and the river right in front of the villas. Jerry is amazing, she helped us with whatever we wanted,train tickets,being met at the station,renting us a motorbike and giving us directions to where we wanted to go, we could not have done it without her
