The toilet in one bathroom didn't flush well but I flagged this before we left.

The location and the parking are the best features of this property. The views are also nice. In the morning, I would buy the bread for our breakfast in a place under the apartment and, if needed, we had a mini market right beside the apartment (its a bit expensive, but a "normal" supermarket is available nearby if you have a car available). We had dozens of restaurants very near the apartment, so, for dinner, you have a lot of choices available, and we always went on foot. We rented a car, so a parking place is a must in this zone of Funchal. If all the windows were closed, the place was quiet. The apartment is huge, but since Madeira has a lot to see, we only went home to sleep, bathe, and not much more. We noticed that a router was there, but we all have an extensive data plan, so we didn't use it. A good-sized TV was also included; we only turned it on for a few minutes. The pool is very nice, it's located on the 2nd or 3rd floor.

We went in the middle of the summer, and Funchal was hotter than usual. If we kept the doors\windows open during the night for the cold breeze to cool the room, but the car and motorcycles would not let us sleep; if we closed the doors\windows, we were unable to sleep from the heat. There were a couple of fans in the apartment; they made a lot of noise, and we couldn't keep them on during the night. So an AC unit would be a great addition to the apartment. The apartment is not new, and it's noticeable in some parts of the apartment; the kitchen could use some TLC.

This is an excellent apartment with a great view from the balconies, a pool one floor up, and everything you might need. I especially want to highlight the staff's readiness to help at any moment. We had an unexpected situation, and they resolved it late on a Sunday night, almost at midnight. You can truly rely on these guys.

Size of the apartment and location

This is a beautiful apartment, very comfortable and welcoming. It was extremely safe, and had free parking below the building. There are two good sized bedrooms, two bathrooms, large dining table, sofa and recliners. Kitchen appliances were in good condition, and there were plenty of cutlery/crockery/cup/glasses. The balcony is wonderful, very sunny and a great view. One bedroom has an en suite and private balcony area.

One of the main reasons for choosing this particular property rather than one in Funchal centre was the pool, and it was out of service for the duration of our trip. We were not told this in advance, and the host only mentioned when we arrivved that sometimes it is closed for maintenance. When we went up to check it out, the sign said it had been closed for maintenance since before we booked. I do think the host should check on things like that, and be transparent, as it impacted our stay. Meeting the host to get the keys was tricky, as we had a car and needed to meet on the street to get a fob for the car park. If we had just been on foot it would have been fine, as we could have been buzzed in. Host was very helpful and responsive, bringing dish towels and washing up liquid when mentioned - however it would have been ideal if these had been in place as a matter of course.

Appartment cold in the first 2 weeks of January, needed to wear jumpers. Apartment faces east so not much sun on the balcony. Constant internal apartment block noise from ? Fans or boilers, causing early morning wakening. Freezer broken(reported) but judging from the mould inside it had been out of action some time.
