Tru By Hilton Lawrence

The small rooms (two queen beds) have a dorm sized refrigerator, NO microwave, NO coffee/Keurig type coffee machine in the room, NO closets or dressers. There is an area above the refrigerator that has hangers but that is it. The “breakfast” leaves a lot to be desired. The pancakes and the apples were the only things that were edible. And I wouldn’t drink the sludge they called coffee. We were traveling with our baseball team and for the amount we paid per night for four nights, was pure robbery for “Hilton” standards; utterly ridiculous for the quality of the room.

Clean and friendly

Made a reservation with the Tru by Hilton in Lawrence, Kansas through the Hilton Honors app. The reservation was confirmed, and my credit card was charged. Upon arriving to check in, the desk clerk told me they had no rooms. I asked that the room charge be refunded, and the desk clerk said she could do nothing about it. Though this is a Hilton property, she referred to Hilton Honors as a third party and said I would have to pursue reimbursement from them. I called Hilton Honors Customer Care who disputed the desk clerk's claim that they were a third party. The Customer Care representative tried to contact the hotel, but no one would answer the phone. The credit card charge has still not been reversed, and no one in Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc. has taken ownership of the issue, so I've turned the dispute over to my credit card company.

The hardworking staff are the stars of this property. Busy weekend in Lawrence with the big12 track and field championship AND KŪHIŌ graduation ceremonies. Your staff were flawless. Congrats!

Our stay was fine

We were sold a room with no furniture and a dismantled window shade. It was late and we were too tired to complain. At checkout we were told that the room was “out of service” and we should never have been placed in the room. Staff said they would tell the hotel manager, but since they have their money and we have never heard from them, I’m sure this has been swept under the rug. There are plenty of good hotels in Lawrence, and we travel there often, but we won’t stay at this hotel ever again.

First time stay and was very pleased

Staff was super friendly. The property and room were very clean. Breakfast was also great!
