Suandi House

I liked the idea rhat there was only one other room to let out. Ir was a quiet area, convenient to resturants, & shoppes. The down side was no fridge or television.

The owner of this homestay were always friendly and helpful. When they promise to do something you can relay 100% on them.They booked some very good tours for me and gave me tipps what to do in the surrounding. The breakfast is delicious!

The staff was nice and helpful at the property. Unfortunately, I had to switch rooms after a day and a half of being unpacked in my room due to them accidentally putting me in the wrong room. Also, the power outages in the newer room kept going dead. This made it impossible for me to charge any of my electrics (phone, camera batteries, computer, etc.) Also, the rooms lacked cleanliness. The mosquito nets were dirty, were starting to turn brown, and had dead mosquitos in them. In the first room that I was in, the blanket had a fresh stain on it as if it had never been washed and in the second room that they put me in the floor was not cleaned very well. There was still trash on the side of my bed from the other guest and I found hairs on the floor and on the pillow. Overall, you will get what you pay for with the stay. The hosts were nice, but they could improve greatly with the cleaning portion of the homestay.

When we arrived Putu (the hostess) told us that she hasn’t seen our reservation (done more than 1 month in advance) and that suandi house was fully booked (!!!). It was 2 am (it was supposed to be 24 h reception but there was no front desk!) and they got us to walk around ubud carrying our luggage to a place supposed to be Suandi House 2. We walked around 2 different home stays with Putu’s husband before we arrived to the place, actually called Nyoman apartments. There was no air conditioning and the place was dirty. We complained about AC and she told us that for that night it was the only place available. The day after we would go to suandi house. We were moved as she said we would be, but to a third place (called suastika lodge). The room had AC but almost no hot water and was not clean neither looked like the hotels.com pictures! At check-out we complained again and she returned our money of the first day (as it was agreed when we accept to sleep at Nyoman). We suggested that she could put more pictures in the offer and we found out that it is even worse! They only have 2 of 5 Suandi rooms with AC!!! The breakfast was terrible and we listened another girl complaining about the same issue: booked suandi and was “forced” to stay in suastika.

Sweet place to stay. The owners are lovely. The garden has a beautiful temple. Pancake breakfast was delicious and delivered to the room every morning. great location.
