Casa Paola Varenna Perledo

Casa Paola is located 7 mins from the train station, or 13 from downtown Varenna. It should be known that there is NO AC in this unit. Unfortunately that was not made very clear on the advertisement and I believe that is something that should be remedied by the host. In the middle of the summer, it made it quite difficult to fall asleep, even with the fan on and the doors open. Francesca was an absolutely lovely host though. Very welcoming and kind. We never figured out how to heat up the shower, she offered to come and fix it but we really didn’t mind the cold shower with it being so hot so didn’t bother to have her come out. However, if a warm shower is on your must have then make sure she shows you how to do it when you check in. The balcony was nice for a cup of tea with a quaint view. The road outside can get quite noisy especially if you sleep with the door open as we did. The road is also a little sketchy to cross. Overall, the unit is fine if you’re ok with sacrificing a few creature comforts or are looking for an economical alternative to the high prices of Como, but not recommended for long stays.
